The /r/dph rabbithole is fucking insane. there was a user whos profile showes basically their entire history of using dph from start to end. they started using it because it was just something they had in their cabinet and was a cheap alternative to LSD (which it isn't, its actually a deliriant), then they gradually started taking more until they were doing 1500mg (*60* regular 25mg Benadryl) a day. Then you can see them start to talk about all the physical issues that the insane dph doses were causing (memory loss/breathing issues/incontinence/seizures/permanent heart issues/vision issues/and probably a lot more) and this all happened over the span of less than 2 years. They talked about bleeding out of their asshole and needing to go to the ICU numerous times
Their last post was about taking 6900mg/6.9 grams (276 regular 25mg pills) of DPH, and it killed them...
A direct quote from their profile is "I took it as a cheap legal alternative to LSD in 2019 and I got hooked. Nothing else makes me feel the way DPH does. I’ve tried other drugs. Even tried LSD, shrooms, MDMA, weed, but nothing makes me feel the way DPH does". They went from taking it because it was a cheap and easy to access drug to taking so much of it that it killed them in less than 2 years...
There's an entire post about it on the subreddit r/deadredditors, it's the 4th most upvoted post on that subreddit
Its honestly one of the most depressing thing I have come across on reddit

@@chrisg5219 The simple answer is "I never knew this could get me high, let's try it."
I tripped off of it once, it is a nightmare. What most people don't tell you is that it makes you delirious. While on your average psychedelic you can typically tell whatever it is you're looking at is because you're high. While on benadryl, everything seems real. When it started hitting me, I went outside to smoke a cigarette with my buddy. I saw a train going by, which wasn't unusual because I lived next to the tracks. I sat there and watched the train go by for a couple minutes, looked over at the chair next to me and saw what I thought was my cat completely smashed into it. I stood up and freaked out, told my buddy about it, and looked back at the train. I yawned and as I opened my eyes I realized there was no train, I wasn't smoking a cigarette at all, my friend wasn't even at my house that night, and my cat was certainly okay inside. I said "fuck that" and took myself to bed. I won't even touch those pills for allergies anymore

Your point about showcasing both the benefits and the drawbacks of different substances is spot-on. I used to be a poly-addict, using stimulants, opioids, booze and dissociatives to cope with the reality of being stuck in a soul-crushing accounting/bookkeeping job for a grey-hat company. I quit both the job and the drugs fairly quickly though, with some mild relapses.
After that, I started smoking weed occasionally and soon enough, advanced onto psychedelics. I used them fairly responsibly and once I felt that I didn't need them, I quit cold turkey.
Acid and mushrooms have definitely helped me a lot with self-image, trauma and motivation issues, but seeing Reddit posts talking about how 16 year olds are obsessive stoners or are experimenting with powerful hallucinogens just because "IT'S HEALTHY FOR U BRO LOL" and "LMAO DUUUUDE YOU'LL BE LITERALLY BETTER THAN EVERYONE ELSE IF YOU TRIP" infuriates and saddens me greatly. In certain situations these substances can absolutely be a fun time and can even bring benefits that greatly outweigh the harm they cause, but glorifying drugs, ANY drugs, is at least idiotic and shortsighted, and at most directly harmful and may lead to permanent side effects.
It doesn't help that the average Reddit druggie thinks he's either an omniscient deity or a pharmacologist, claiming that his drug of choice is a panaceum, and can't accept it in his fried mind that he might not only be wrong, but that he's indirectly causing physiological and mental harm through the misinformation he spreads.
Cannabis is a plant, but so are poppies, coca leaves, datura and poison ivy.
Psychedelics can bring you peace of mind, but so can healthy living, meditation, therapy and prescription antidepressants.
Everyone is different. Users and addicts alike would greatly benefit from if we stopped glorifying AND demonizing drugs and started to truly look at their benefits and side effects objectively, and let people make an educated, unbiased choice based on objective evidence.

When I had really bad cravings, there were other members that would get on webcam and stay up and talk with me, to help and get my mind off it all.

Poor guy was still slow, very neurotic. You could see where his body had begun to rot due to the meth. All over his face, big ugly scars.

as someone who is really struggling with an emotional addiction to pot, I find it so irresponsible when people go around saying weed doesn't have any negative side effects and that it's non-addictive. Just because I'm not seizing on the floor when I go a day without taking a hit doesn't mean that getting into smoking hasn't had a mostly negative impact on my life. Tried it because everyone said it was great for anxiety, and it was at first, but now all it does is make me 100x more anxious. But I can't stop bc whenever I'm not high, all I can think about is how much I want to be high and forget all my problems. Shit sucks

It never helped and only made me more worried and paranoid. I took a long 6 month break and now I’m smoking again without worries. If you’re anything like myself, my best advice would be (and I know it’s difficult) to just stop for as long as you can. Give yourself room to work on your mental health and to enjoy life sober. get the indica. sativas aren't necessarily good for anxiety. the only true 'marijuana' is indica, as all hemp products are sativa based, and the marijuana that is sativa doesn't protect the body like indica does and is mostly a head high and can cause mental issues to spring forth. plus your body has an endo-cannabinoid system and depriving it is not good in the long run for the immune system and the body. this is strictly homeopathic and not allopathic treatment. also consuming is the best way for it to affect your body and get all the benefits. smoking weed itself will not cure anything except your need to smoke.

@@acidbath3226 almost all of this is scientifically incorrect, and in practice too. Any smoker will tell you there are indicas that smoke like sativas and sativas that smoke like indicas. This is because the whole 'indica/sativa' thing just has to do with how the plant grows.
Also dude, the endo-cannabinoid system is only 'deprived' of cannabis if you develop CHS or some other serious consumption problem. THC and CBD stay in your system for a very, very long time, there is no scientific or homeopathic reason for you to smoke consistently unless you just feel like it. On top of that man 'marijuana' is not the fucking word for it. It's cannabis, Marijuana is what Anslinger called it when he said it made Mexicans murder people.

Complaints that they can’t get high at work or that some people just won’t recognize the medical and material miracle that is marijuana.

Was hesitant at first but man the constant tired feeling from even 1/64th of a 4mg strip twice a day was driving me insane. So eventually I tried it, not the same but manageable. After trying it for about 3 months as replacement I confronted my Dr about it. Dude was straight and told me all my health screenings looked great and if I use moderation then I should be good.
Bud lemme tell ya, coming off subs was waaaaay more difficult than perks. Something is up, its half life must be way more resilient than "standard types". Even with the K you dont feel the same for almost 2 weeks. But eventually if you schedule and use moderation, you get your mindset back to normal.
Look man you do what you think works best for you. Not recommending, just sharing how it went on my end. Something I have realized is that in modern western society EVERYONE is doing something, good buddies of mine will hop outta the car or truck with a damn beer in hand! Everyone is using something as an escape from the constant bombardment of BS we get nowadays.

But one guy was arguing that legalization would clear up all problems surrounding drugs. He stated that with legalized drugs, they would be safer and in smaller quantities so people wouldn't overdose or abuse them.
First part has some legitimacy, but the second disregards addicts lack of self control, or intent to self harm.
He replied drug users aren't addicts and just want a thrill. And that was the end of that discussion.

Reddit genuinely is a site that is karma farmed into a parody of itself. As you said, it’s a website dedicated to farming karma. This causes the issue of circle jerk subs. I think the drug war's a tragedy, adults should be allowed to put whatever they want into their bodies, and weed is probably - on balance - way less destructive than alcohol or tobacco, etc. But the idea that weed is harmless and non-addictive is insidious. And it's only going to get worse as capital accumulates in the cannabis industry and R&D departments start getting serious funding. I've been struggling with a weed dependence off & on for 20 years now. It's turned out to be way harder to quit than cigarettes ever were. And a big reason for that is because there are virtually no treatment protocols for cannabis addiction other than "just quit, bro."

And the abuse of the medication makes it harder for those with legitimate need for the medicine.
For eg. some people post their stashes (they lie to psychiatrists about anxiety to use the benzos for recreational use, their words not mine). One even went to the vet to get Xanax for his dog that gets "frightened" during thunderstorms and he just pops them like it's all good.

Yeah they're dangerous drugs especially when the doctor tries to speedrun a taper over 3 months when the patient has been taking 6mg of Alprazolam and 20mg of Diazepam a day for 9 years straight lol.
