"Bong hit transplant" legit reminds me of the "Jerk Store" comment from Seinfeld. It's such a perfect anti-joke, it does a 180 into being funny.

The thing is, he is arguably a bad comedian, but that doesn't hold him back, as he is good friends with Joe Rogan who enabled him to quickly get a special, eventhough it has horrible ratings. Next to that he has many negative sides to his personality, how he treats people and so on.

It is honestly heartwarming to see Tom still doing comedy sets after all these years. Its like seeing one of those babies that are born with no skin miraculously living to adulthood. A sense of pity, yes, but also a sense of respect and fascination as to how they lived for so long in this world.

Tom is funny because he does these things with this mundane confidence and genuine charisma, you can’t help but be entertained by it.
Even if it the joke doesn’t make a lick of sense to you, the f*cking idea alone that there is some punch line Tom believes in is enough for you to also believe in the joke.
Some people might be laughing at him, but in some weird way you laugh with him more than anything.
It’s amusing how his delivery and cadence isn’t even really that terrible so your brain is primed to expect a real joke but then his joke writing is just so baffling and disconnected you are just confused by what happened

Toms long running GPS bit is one of my favorites. It came out when gps was a more relevant term, and in a way the redundancy of gps compliments his awkward/nonsensical comedy style perfectly.
A must see though is CT reacting to his birthday gift from his parents that turned out to be a grave plot right next to theirs 🤣🤣

What's funny is that Nick Mullen totally called this. In one of the Cumtown episodes he talks about how the whole "ironic comedy" thing is huge now and Tom could be making a ton of money
He called it even better than you’re saying actually, because what Nick said was that in order to make all of that money Tom would have to at least pretend he was trying to be ironically unfunny. This, unfortunately, is a thing that Tom is incapable of. Tom takes himself and his horrible jokes, very very seriously, and saying that they were constructed purposely to not be funny is completely anathema to him.
This whole essay is literally just regurgitating everything Nick has already said about Tom in the podcast. This guy clearly just listens to cumtown and decided to just lift all of that to make this shit video

That eldery crossing joke SHOULD be funny, the premise is perfect. I’m actually baffled by it. Is it the delivery? I’ve tried playing it out mentally to see if I can make it funny. It has all the ingredients, but they are arranged in a way that suspends all humor. It’s like some sort of exquisite chemical formula that’s perfectly inert when it shouldn’t be.
I think that's the clear intention, same with the Hillary Clinton joke. There's an obvious joke and he butchers the delivery and set up, I am certain it's intentionally bad so he can stand out. I feel like this video misses the mark as a lot of the jokes clearly make sense, and he is clearly fucking up the delivery on purpose.

It’s such a mundane and dry way to tell a joke but the way he’s so sincere and oddly confident in it is funny.

Tom Meyers seems like a perfect live-action Adult Swim character from the mid to late 2000s when awkwardness from shows like The Office was really popular. Anti-comedy and absurdist humor definitely has its audience. I've also seen Tom Myers style characters before with that level of awkward confidence cause he's basically Steve Buscemi doing a bit.

I had only ever heard of an old podcast talk about Tom Myers. I had never actually seen him, when glancing at the thumbnail for this video I immediately thought "that has to be Tom Myers".
I think the bong hit transplant is the only example you showed that actually does make sense. The idea that someone is on a restricted diet from surgery, and that restricted diet just resembles what someone would run to a convenience store to buy while experiencing the munchies due to weed consumption. It's his most sophisticated joke.
The reason why it's especially funny for Tom is because it's uncharacteristically actually kind of clever, but also, it just has such a nice ring to it: Bong Hit Transplant
It's just such a nice bouncy phrase that can be plugged into other contexts. It would make a great t-shirt slogan if Tom were smart enough to capitalize on it. But it DOES make sense.
It's Tom's way of revealing the true motive of the guy buying the snacks.
But because he has such a weak understanding of humor or what makes a joke good, and he winds up the joke way bigger than it needs to be. He sets it up too long. It's too complicated. And for a punch line, "Bong Hit Transplant" is unwieldy. It takes too long for people to deconstruct what it is he's even saying after he says it, and the way he delivers it he expects a big laugh, but people in the audience are stuck trying to translate what he means. It's actually so sophisticated the audience is caught off guard and by the time they do understand it, he's already lost all confidence in his joke and wants to move on.
But he will keep telling the joke because it IS actually funny, but it's all his other material that's is so weak.

Something unmentioned in this video that makes him even more hilarious is how he tries so hard to mimick's Bill Hicks' presence.
