Why I hiked HOURS to Fish this Mountain Lake... In Winter! 😯❄️

  • Fishing a high altitude lake in winter, and catching something INCREDIBLE! Trekking hours in the freezing cold was worth every step, there's something so special about fishing in the mountains. The fish that live there are untouched and absolutely beautiful. This time we focus on lure fishing, and also take worms for some bait fishing too. With the water being so cold I need all the help I can get! Whether it be Perch fishing or trout fishing, fishing in the mountains is one of my favourite things to do!
    The legend: After fishing this lake a couple of times, someone said in the comments that they think they once witnessed a big 3lb perch get caught up there. Due to the scarcity of food in places like this it seems like a long shot, but anything is possible! Join me as I get up there and try to see if the rumours are true!
    🎄 MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE! 🎄
    As always, thank you very much for watching! If you enjoyed this video please don't forget to drop a like, and subscribe if you want to see more! Leave a comment too and let me know what you thought of the video!

    Fished there multiple occasions over the last 20 years, progressively the Perch became smaller and smaller as they predated on themselves then the big Perch died out. Used to be full of shoals of minnows which I used to catch and use as livebait. Me and my cousin must have had over 200 Perch one day with about 60% being over 2lb, and probably 10 over 3lb. Last time I went in 2014 and could not catch a Perch over half a pound all weekend.

    Thank you for all the great content this year. I discovered your channel at the start of the year and so far have bought of Andy at Rigged & Ready virtually everything he sells, fantastic gear, fantastic service, apart from the gloves he stocks, very worried about the gloves.
    As pretty much a novice, with lots of rods, can you just rock up at lakes like that, and the stream, if you have a UK rod licence? I’m very confused about how to go about that, for beginners that would be a great subject for a film, in fact a second channel explaining everything you’re doing would be great, I don’t think you appreciate how much knowledge you have. Fantastic channel.

It's just that for me in my world, my adventure would try to involve waters that no other human had ever fished, I long for the feeling that makes one feel like the human element is nonexistent. No bridges, no paths, no trace. Just the locals like moose, bear, deer and the like. So, should you ever find yourself near the Northeasr Kingdom of Vermont, USA, I would love to share with you my version of an outing or adventure. Thanks

    Aren’t you catching trout out of season?

    • @adventurefishinguk
      @adventurefishinguk  7 месяцев назад

      Trout don't have a closed season in fully enclosed stillwaters according to the gov website. I was perch fishing though anyway and you can't help what bites!

      @@adventurefishinguk ah fair enough, looks a cracking place to fish.

    • @NCA_Matt
      @NCA_Matt 6 месяцев назад +1

      That's incorrect. Brown trout are out of season in Cumbria between 30th September and 15th March, unless stocked triploid fish (usually rainbow trout), in enclosed stillwaters.
      Obviously that doesn't stop you fishing for perch, but on a venue which most would agree is primarily a trout water, you'll always face accusations that you're using a small perch population as an excuse to fish for trout outside the season.
      My advice to you would be not to film the trout captures - and certainly don't remove them from the water and hold them up for the camera.

    • @adventurefishinguk
      @adventurefishinguk  6 месяцев назад

      @@NCA_Matt I disagree on most thinking it’s a trout water, on my last 3 visits to this place I’ve only caught perch. No trout!

    • @NCA_Matt
      @NCA_Matt 6 месяцев назад

      @adventurefishinguk well in 20 years of fishing up there I've caught hundreds of trout but not even a single perch. But that's because my chosen techniques don't target them.

      @@adventurefishinguk the Klymit litewater dingy is tiny but would be perfect for those mountain lakes. To fish for Perch there I would use an extra ultralight rod and a tungsten micro jig (I use them in Canada ice fishing then use them when I visit my home city of Norwich uk) with a tiny little plastic or real maggot tipped on it and vertical jig. Absolutely slay em’
