The lovely pink flowers are Rosebay Willowherb (AKA Fireweed)
Pro tip; when brashing your way through a wood with a fishing rod carry it butt first - much less likely to break the tip.

I fished that area 4 years ago...was up there for 3 weeks...creepy noises at night.. but decent fishing.. the area with the lilly pads is good for bobber fishing (not my favourite type of fishing) .
In Canada we call them speckled trout..that was a nice one...good on the grill.
Sorry, i thought that was Dunkeld...😂

Has the little one caught or helped reel in any fish? Earlier they get an interest the better in my opinion as I'd hope in future they continued the tradition and get out into nature and healthy exercise.

Fáilte gu Alba. A small point, but there's only one lake in Scotland, The Lake of Menteith. Everything else you'll fish is a loch, lochan or reservoir. Beannachd leat.

@@alison8526 aye. fáilte gu alba means welcome to scotland, and beannach leat is good luck. a lochan is a small mountain water. not big enough to be a proper loch, but too big to be a pond.

Do you only use lures on these trips? I haven't seen you try a classic reliable fall back, the famous garden worm or the humble maggot, I do know alot of places are strictly fly or lure only.

Hi M8 awesome content and fishing with the family is a massive plus. Im more of a fly fisher but at the moment spinning seems to be getting a lot of trout and salmon on my local river. Can you suggest a good rod and real combo to fish for trout and salmon? Preferably a telescopic as I would like to still have the option to fly fish but can pack the spinning rod to my side and get it out quickly if needed.
