      $629??? not in my country ...here in california they want $750 and that is not including labor...including parts and labor the total is $1150....and you can do the front and rear brakes including pads and rotors for about $150 for a savings of $1000.

    Truly the best how-to video I've ever seen. Thanks so much. I noticed that someone commented below about the 2 screws that hold the rotor in place aren't really necessary (compare the holding power of those to the 5 lugs holding the wheel/rotor in place). I went to buy an impact wrench to get them out and the automotive parts guy told me that if it didn't work, just drill the heads off and don't worry about replacing them - that they're only there to hold the rotors in place while the car is moving down the assembly line (same as noted below). I did get them off with the impact driver, but will leave them off so I don't have to screw around with them in the future. Thanks again.

    Great job. A friend of mine that lives in another state sent me this video asking me was this the right way and I said yes he did a great job the only thing that I would Add is take your wire brush and clean the area where your roter slides on. Right there at the circle. And before you put your brake hardware back on put some grease on the caliber where the heart with snaps back on and put a little bit of grease on the back of your brake pads and your sliding pins!! Because if you don’t that can cause problems down the road it’s very easy to do just make it happen.

    Very informative video, thanks. I replaced my rotors and pads in the front and watched another video for that job. There was no mention of taking the brake fluid reservoir cap off when I compressed the piston back into the cylinder. Did I screw something up by not doing that? I'm going to replace the back rotors and pads tomorrow and I'll be using your video for that job.

    Guys- if the rotor doesn't come off go to this video at 4:37 and notice the other two screw holes on the rotor not the ones that he removed the Honda screws.. those holes are to help remove the rotor. You need two 8mm 1.25 bolts screws . You screw them in then it pushes out the stuck rotor. Beats hitting it with a hammer . Mine was stuck and banged on it for a while then did what I mentioned and out in 2 minutes

      Heating the rotors with a propane torch also helps to loosen them up.

    Dear, thank you for the video. I have a Honda accord 2017 and I already replaced the brake pads and the rotors, but when I test it I found that the brake paddle is sinking and we already try to remove air from the brake system by bleeders, but i still face the same problem. note I didn't have the sinking problem before replacing the brake pads and the rotors. any advice? thx

    Video was great but pad with the noise clip should be facing down. You had them switched also you forgot the clips that go on top of the pads. Other than those two minor details great tutorial!

    Very nice video on how to change the rear brake rotors and brake pads for the Honda Accord. I'd changed these brake pads twice on my Honda Accord V6, each time the brake pads only last about 30K. The original Honda rear brake pads were replaced at the dealer for $249.99 plus tax during the first 3 years of the car life. The reason I let the dealer did it the first time because the car is still under warranty and I don't want Honda to refuse any warranty service should the rear brake failed. The second and the third time, I replaced the pads myself, bought the brake pads from Honda for about $55 plus tax. The Honda Accord 7th Gen is notorious for eating the rear brake pads every 24-30K, specially the V6 model, because these pads are 1/2 the size of the front pads. I couple things that cause me to pause on this video: he should not have removed the caliper's pins before he cleaned the caliper and he should not force the brake fluid back into the master cylinder. He risked introducing brake dusts and road grimes from the dirty caliper into the caliper pin holes during cleaning that could cause it to malfunction or seize up. I'd take the pins out after the cleaning and put it back in immediately to reduce risk of contamination. Second, he should have crack lose the bleeder valve on the caliper and attach a small hose to let the brake fluid out to a small container as he compress the piston. This way, you don't risk pushing dirty brake fluid from the caliper and the lines back into the master cylinder. The dirty fluid could cause the master cylinder to malfunction or cause the brake fluid sensor to get stuck. Either scenarios could make your a bad commute day if it failed, not to mention the cost of having the entire brake fluid flushed to get rid of the dirty fluid in master cylinder or fixing the stuck brake fluid sensor. The brake sensor and master cylinder is one part from Honda, you have to change the entire unit and they are not cheap if the sensor cannot be reset, and that is not counting the labor cost to replace the master cylinder which is much more expensive at the dealer. If you don't fix the stuck brake sensor, you will have a Brake light in the dash and your car will fail inspection. More importantly, the car will turn off your ABS/VSA system so you are on your own.

    Any difference in the LX and EXL rear brake pads? Rockauto only has the centric rear pads for the EXL, not specifically for LX.

    Thanks for this as well. I used your video to change my rotors and pads 3 years ago for the 1st time. What made it a horrible job was the rust. Everything else was fine. But doing it again today and the bolts for the rotor bracket just won’t budge. Tried WD-40 and freeze-off. No go. Frustrating.

    OOOOppps, I had no idea that the slide bolts you lubed that go into the caliber are different, one round and the other a flat surface. What could be an issue if they are installed them backwards, if you know? By the way, I have watched numerous Honda rear brake videos and you are the first to mention the bolts are different, GOOD NOTICE, thanks.

    I remember i changed rear pads on a dodge journey and the brake caliper were just like these but i didnt know this was the way i tried for almost a hour with all my strength to push it back in until the owner which was a female looked on youtube and showed me the way to do it with needle nose pilers boy was i embarrassed but happy at the same time when i got in i was stressing 😆

    I changed all the brake pads on my Accord today, no problem with the front ones, but the rear passenger side was not retracting when rotated clockwise. I wonder what is wrong with it. The other side was ok. I didn't have the tool to rotate it but I used pliers which seemed to have worked for the one wheel.

    You can put oil on the threads of those two screws, it's works better than antisease.

    Those rotor screws are NOT Phillips head screws. They are actually Japanese Industrial Standard (JIS) screws. If you use a JIS impact screw driver (found on EBay or Amazon) to remove those rotor screws, they come out easily without stripping. Most people do not know this.

    I've heard from many sources that those screws don't need to be replaced on the rotors as they are only there to hold the rotors during manufacturing. The ones on my gf's accord were frozen AND stripped. It took me HOURS and several trips to the auto parts store to get those completey useless, stupid screws off.

    good video, next time those 2 screws holding the rotor on. you do not have to put them back on. their only purpose is the keep the rotors on, while the Honda goes down the assembly line. basically so they dont fall off. ive had three different Honda dealerships tell me about it. tip for next time :)

    Does anyobe have the part number for the spacer washer mentioned at the 3:46 mark. Just changed my rear breaks and rotors. Used vehicle the washer was missing and two of the four screws that go into the rotors.

    Do you recommend using copper anti-seize on the threads of those two rotor screws? (2:20) Also, I've heard of others saying they leave the screws out as to avoid the issue on future brake jobs.

      Yes you should apply antisieze to those 2 screws if you reinstall them. And yes you don't have to reinstall them as their only purpose is to keep the rotors in place during manufacturing. It's up to you.

    😂😂😂🤦🏾‍♂️ thats why my rear passenger side was giving me problems with the caliper not lining up to the bracket for the guide pin bolts. I did not know that the "t" on the piston had to line up with the little stub sticking out

    Some of the videos I’ve been seeing say you need to disconnect the E brake, but it doesn’t look like you did that. Is that optional?

      Yes, disengage the ebrake so you can remove the rotor for replacement. Otherwise the ebrake will hold the rotor in place.

    It's probably not recommended, but in a pinch, I use the long side of a screw driver to turn the pistons back in. It's not the easiest method, but it works if you find yourself without the proper tool. Just be careful you don't scratch or chip the face of the piston.

      @@atlred Your other options will be either find something comparable at your local hardware store, or check your local wreck yard that sells parts that you remove yourself.

    When you go to put the caliper on with new pads, are they supposed to be touching the rotors? Or should the rotor move freely?

      It's fine that it touches, and you should be able to spin the rotor by hand (you may hear some grinding sound).

      dial2fast okay so my pads and rotors touch and grind a bit when I spin the rotor, yet I can spin the rotor with minimal effort.. will I be okay?

      Yes that's fine, once you press on your brake, it will squeeze the pads onto the rotor.

      It's a piston tool and you do use it with 3/8" ratchet. The link to that tool is in the description of the video.

      @@lukejones31596 Clamp only works on the front piston. Rear has to be turned because of the parking brake. I was able to turn mine using an old chainsaw bar (no I'm not kidding; I tried it on a whim and it worked.)

    Those are not Phillips screws holding the rotor on, thats why people have problems with getting the rotor off. it is a JIS screw. (Japanese Industry Standard) You also failed to put on the HONDA BRAKE PAD V SPRING CLIPS on the new pads.

    What about the thin wire bracket that comes with the break pads? Is that not necessary to put on?

      Randi Carpenter they are included for a reason. I put them on do to the fact that they provide tension to prevent the pads from remaining pressed against the rotor wearing them down quicker or causing the the brakes to overheat.

      Cutty408 on the outside edge of the pads you will notice the small hole on each pad. Place the metal spring end in the corresponding hole of the brake pads.

    Will the brakes squeal if the shims are not reinstalled?

      It normally will not have much noise without the shims. You can remedy it by putting some synthetic brake grease on the surface as I've shown in the video.

      You only need to open brake fluid reservoir if you think it might overflow when compressing the piston.
