@@FritzRamos fritz hey there again! I’m gonna tackle this mount issue tomorrow and I wanna know when you use the engine brace and you start tightening down that middle hook that hooks to the tow hook, does it lift the engine like yours is doing in the vid? Also do you want to tighten down that middle prong that spins down onto the middle of the brace as tight as possible?
@@FritzRamos also the tow hook you have, does it screw all the way down into the threads ontop of the engine? Because I have the same hook and it’s a pain to keep tightening it down and it’s still not all the way threaded in. Or do you just tighten it down as much as you can even if there are a few threads that aren’t in?
I've watch all related videos of this repair and this is the most straightforward, detailed, and best example of how to perform this repair! Good Job Man
@@FritzRamos hey fritz just a quick question, I just drive the car on the ramps then use the engine brace? I know it sounds stupid to ask this question.
Thank you for that input! What you just described was what I was hoping to achieve. Provide people with information at a relevant point of the video without taking away from the current topic. 🤜🤛
Hi very nice video! Straight to the point. Quick question: do you recommend replacing the gear box mounts at the same time or do they last longer? Thanks!
With filming, about 4 hours so maybe cut that in half for yourself. I would imagine that the overall process is the same, but with slightly less working space on the bottom side.
One more question, did you have to lower your sub frame? (I don’t think you did based on your video but just wanted to make sure) (Some posts in the forums talk about needing to lower the sub frame) Also I appreciate the quality and detail of your videos! Thanks
My engine shakes, but the mounts were replaced when I put a new engine in my 328i. Honestly don’t know what it could be, but besides that I’ve had zero issues with the car.
@@Jwips. I mean, I guess you could do it that way. I would just use a engine support and if I really needed to, slightly lower the subframe but there shouldn't be a need to completely drop it if you don't want to. Where are you located?
You make it look easier than what other people have shown. I get a shake for about 30 seconds through the cabin on cold start and its fine when I accelerate, would this still be the engine mounts?
Hey man, new subscriber here and thank you for the detailed video.. i have a question, not sure if my issue is the same but my car vibrates and resonates throughout the body, inside the cabin, doors, steering wheels, pedals and muffler. The shake is mild and its the same wether the engine is on idle, drive or reverse. Do you think the engine mounts are the culprit? Thanks heaps.
Man sounds like it. I had a high pressure fuel pump go out on me and when it threw the drivetrain malfunction, whenever it went to a stop, the engine would vibrate crazy!
@@FritzRamos ok, also, is your 235 X drive? I’ve noticed some of the processes for a few of your tutorials are a bit different when I attempt them on my x drive 235
@@FritzRamos looking forward to that video! I had the same question. I know a company called Revshift makes some for the F8x, F3x, and F2x cars, so it would be interesting to hear your take on their product when you make the video.
Great explanation. However, harbor freight engine support is a trash 🗑️ and the nut/screw stuck when the engine is underload. 30 min job is becoming in a 3 hours. Please purchase a good quality hook and engine support.
I replace mine at 77k and now its at 107k And when I put it to drive i feel more vibration and even more when I turn on my AC. Its possible the motor mounts when bad that soon? I took it to a mechanic and he said my car is at 100k what would I expect. BTW my is an f30 238i 2016.

Really nice video. From another F30 enthusiast... great job. Impressive!
Thank you. Nice to meet a fellow enthusiast 🤝
Holy **** now i know what that noise is, glad i decided to look at your vids.
Glad I could help
@7:10 perfect 👍🏻,, i always do that test to check the mounts , great u did it before @1:20 and after
The how to clean the engine bay info pop up was a brilliant thought. I was like hmm he did it and the info popped up. Lol

Very nice video. Sooo clean (literally) and straight to the point.

Well it was indeed. Got the motivation that I can manage the job on my own :)
@@Pa-hy1te You got this 👍
I just completed this job last night and let me tell y’all, it ain’t no where near as easy as it looks 😂
I had to take off the top strut brace so I could lift the engine high enough to put in new mounts 😭
It never is lol. You have to slow down and think strategically

again a great demo and super clear instructions

Thank you. I couldn’t find the torque specs anywhere in my service manual.
Great vid thanks! Did you not have to remove the charge pipes to gain access to driver side? Thanks!!
Doesn't look like he did, but that would help alot.

are they same part both or diifernt each side?? then part number also thanks

how many miles did you have on the car when you did this
Hey just went through it the “supercharger” wine is the timing chain going
What size torque wrench did you use? Is there a link for that?
Would you recommend the e30 tow hook with a g20 engine 2019?
I have a 2014 BMW X1 sdrive28i I get a vibration sound on the highway doing 70 to 80 MPH only on highway at those speeds
What's the difference between the E30 tow hook and the stock F30 one that comes with the car?
The E30 tow hook is slimmer
@@FritzRamos ah thanks! Can the stock one not be used?
@@Oockeshoek as long as you can tag it in all the way without pinching wires your fine and be careful when pulling it out

Similar. Access might be a little less on the X-drive.

I am hav8ng problems with vibration when idle, any ideas?
Hi,
This can cause the metally vibrating sound as well at the start, or its the turbo wastegate flaps loose?
Thank you!
Did you figure it out bro?? I have a metally vibrating sound too
Do you have to drop the subframe
Nope

That might be something else. The motor mounts would be stiffer when the car is cold
Do you know why it jerks while driving suddenly
When he said “it’s probably not your engine or your motor” 20 seconds into the vid I was skeptical 😂.
