This is one of the best country voices around. Patsy had so many great hits such as "She's Got You", "Walkin' After Midnight", "Sweet Dreams", "So Wrong", "Leavin' on Your Mind", "I Fall To Pieces" "San Antonio Rose", "Blue Moon Of Kentucky", "Half As Much", "He Called Me Baby", "Faded Love" etc. She was only 31 when she died in a plane crash in 1963. In 1985 Jessica Lange starred in the movie about Patsy's life called "Sweet Dreams". "Home Free" does a great cover of "Crazy".
It’s a shame during this time period rock stars were getting killed in small plane crashes. It predates the next problem for musicians who died taking pills and drinking.
The best portrayal of her on film was by Beverly D'Angelo in Coal Miners Daughter. D'Angelo did her own singing where as Ms Lange as superb an actress as she is did not.
The pianist was Floyd Cramer who was known for his "slip note" style of playing. The year before he recorded Crazy with Patsy he had a huge hit on both the country and the pop music charts with a song called "Last Date."
@@barsandbarbells2022 You got it right, Floyd Cramer on the piano and Elvis's The Jordanaires in the background, it doesn't get any better. That is the best of the best.
@@barsandbarbells2022 Please tell your Grandma that I also love, love, love listening to Patsy Cline and tell her I'm 73 and glad she's still doing well!! ❤😂
She was known for that rich, full voice and beautiful, flawless delivery. Crazy was a smash hit; also Sweet Dreams, and I Fall to Pieces. There was a song called Blue, written just for Patsy, that she was supposed to record but never did, because of her tragic death in a plane crash. It was held back for years until teen country singer LeeAnn Rimes recorded it in a stunning, Patsy-Cline style performance. Its a jaw-dropper, Rimes was just 13 but her voice was (and still is!) incredible.
@@savageman2194 wow, right at the beginning of her career! What a treat! We saw Martina McBride on a secondary stage at our county fair years ago, and less than 2 years later she was all over the radio. Such a treat when that happens!
At age 13, Cline was hospitalized with a throat infection and rheumatic fever. Speaking of the incident in 1957 she said, "I developed a terrible throat infection and my heart even stopped beating. The doctor put me in an oxygen tent. You might say it was my return to the living after several days that launched me as a singer. The fever affected my throat and when I recovered I had this booming voice like Kate Smith's."

Patsy was one of the best country singers until her untimely death March 5, 1963 in a plane crash. Before her death, she helped paved the way and mentored a young female country singer Loretta Lynn. Please check her out. She sang about things that women DID NOT sing about or talk about because it was improper for a woman to speak her mind but Loretta did. Then Loretta's younger sister Crystal Gayle became a singer in the 70's. Crystal had a beautiful voice and hair down to her knees and still does. She never ever cut her hair in her entire life. Patsy was in the hospital after a car crash and heard Loretta singing on the radio at the Opry and asked someone to bring Loretta to the hospital to meet her. They became close friends immediately.
Nice reaction. I am 77 yrs old and I did not learn to appreciate her until I knew what perfect pitch was. She died much too early. I would love to see ypu react to Linda Ronstadt. Blue Bayou. Another singer with perfect pitch. She could sing any genre. ❤
You should listen to LeAnn Rimes. In 1996, she recorded her Grammy winning song, "Blue", she was 13 years old. People that heard that song, called her the next Patsy Cline. Listen to "Blue" and you'll see why.
One of the strongest female voices of all. Her plane crash was only a few years after the crash that killed Buddy Holley, Richie Valanz and The Big Bopper, known as The Day The Music Died.
Patsy Cline was amazing, her singing was flawless at a time when there weren't any studio tricks that could be used to cover up vocal mistakes. Taken too early but left behind an incredible body of work for someone so young.
Patsy Cline ❤️❤️❤️🙏🏻 My favorite female country singer. She has many hits……. ❤Walkin After Midnight❤️ ❤️Sweet Dreams (Of You)❤️ ❤️I Fall To Pieces❤️ (RIP) tragically died in a plane crash (Pilot error) “30 yrs old” 🥲
Patsy Cline was flying in a private plane and they stopped at the airport, in the small town I was born in, in north west Tennessee. They refueled and left, headed east to Nashville, despite bad weather and high winds. Approximately 15 minutes later, the plane crashed, killing everybody onboard. Patsy Cline was 30 years old.
Shortly after takeoff, a witness reported hearing a low-flying aircraft. At 6:29PM, the plane crashed near Camden, Tenn.; the wreckage was found early the next morning. The cause of the crash was blamed on the inexperience of the pilot. Cline was 30 years old when she died.
She was and will always be the Queen of Country music. There were female artist before her but she was the one that opened the door for all female artist to follow. She was the first female artist to go mainstream. Watch LeAnn Rimes tribute to her. Her untimely death robbed us of the great music she would have done.
Patsy Cline was a good friend of Loretta Lynn. She helped Loretta when she first came to Nashville, and she gave Loretta her maternity clothes. Loretta named one of the twins Patsy. In the video, she changed her hairdo because she was in a near fatal car accident and to hide her scar on the forehead. . She had to perform days later.
When I hear this song u think of the seinfeld episode where Elaine starts singing it when she gets caught calling Molly Shannon's character crazy for no miving her arms when she walks. I just discovered your channel I love it and instantly subscribed ❤❤
An amazing, timeless voice! My mother enjoyed Patsy and i remember hearing this song on the country radio as a child. Walking after Midnight is another great song sung by her.
This song was once described as the most played song in saloon jukeboxes all over the world. Don’t know how they could determine that but, it’s feels like a fact to me. Well done reaction. Try “She’s Got You” next
I think it was Linda Ronstadt who said Patsy could party until closing then go to the studio and record her songs with one take! I used to have an old recording of her songs before someone advised her to slow the tempo down. She came out being kind of 'rock' a 'billy'. She was an influence on Loretta Lynn and her kid sister Crystal Gayle and so many more. Willie Nelson wrote this song and it skyrocketed his career.
Song by some guy named Willy Nelson. The Jordanaires provided backup. They also backed up Elvis. On piano was Floyd "The Tinkler" Cramer. He also backed up Elvis, and went on to become an instrumental star in the 60s. "Last Date" is one of his most popular piano instrumental numbers.
