Thank you Willie for writing this song way back in the day... and Bless Patsy Cline for recording it for all of us to appreciate to this day.. she died a year after recording this.. 1963.. b4 we all were born.. but gotta love it
Shannon Bennett, I Fall to Pieces & Sweet Dreams were the same songs I was going to suggest!! I grew up listening to Patsy Cline & absolutely ❤ her!! She has such an amazing & unique voice!!
Patsy Cline. What a voice! She was known for being strong, tough, sassy but generous when it came to bringing certain artists under her wing(s). Patsy would give them advice and stick up for them, especially the up and coming young female artists. She was one of a kind! We lost her too soon in a plane crash. That sucked.
No effects, no auto tuning, no synthetic sounds..no computer to aid the sound, just her voice as it is. That's talent. Great job u2!1 Hey 100K!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GRATS!!!!!!!!!!!
I used to sing this to my grandson when he was born. He was my first grandchild and he would fall asleep and stared at me just before he passed out. THANK YOU GUYS! YOU truly appreciate good music, feel good songs! 👍
No disrespect, John, but Patsy's voice was untouchable! She was so far ahead of her time. Now, I loved Loretta and Tammy, too, because they had that REAL country sound! We don't hear that much anymore.
@@donniehagy5125 I agree with you take on Patsy's voice. Her voice could have transcended country music and did to some degree. Had she not passed away at an early age, she would have had a phenomenal career with many cross over hits.
Lol yes Asia you are so right! We do wear our hearts on our sleeves. This song says it for sure. And I know you guys feel it too. You both are awesome! Blessings!
When I sing in the shower or the car, or in my own head, I sound exactly like Patsy! 😁 God I love her voice. R.I.P., Patsy. You were taken way too soon, only 30 years old. When I went to fact check that, found out she died in 1963... if 1962 really was the date of this song, that's a year later. (I should fact check that now, but it's too late, lol.) Asia honey, you got it! And if Patsy were here I think she should say the very same thing. This was awesome, and as a huge Patsy fan, I was touched by your connection to the song. It's always been one of my favourite Patsy songs. ❤
She was worried. When she heard the demo she said I cant sound like him. They told her we dont want you to sound like him, we want you to make it your own. And so we know the rest
An amazing talent with many great songs. Perhaps the most beautiful is one of her last hits "Sweet Dreams" recorded shortly before her death in a plane crash at only 30. A huge loss.
As she has been gone for almost 6o years now, Patsy Cline's voice still reaches across time to show us how tragic her loss is. Every woman in country music is still held to her standard as the measure of greatness for good reason. For further proof checkout these indelible classics, SHE'S GOT YOU SO WRONG and I FALL TO PIECES LeAnn Rimes began her career by paying tribute to Patsy Cline with her incredible number, BLUE. It's worth a listen.
WOW WHAT A VOICE!! The backup singers (The Jordanaires) were pretty good also, they sang backup on MANY of Patsy's songs. For those that didn't know The Jordanaires sang backup for Elvis for nine years from the mid 50''s until the mid/late 60's. After this song came out it seemed everybody and their brother and sister wanted to record it, many artists still want to record it, much to the delight of Willie Nelson, I bet Willie has made a mint off just this one song.
Willie Nelson wrote this song, "Hello Walls", and "Ain't it Funny How Time Slips Away" all on the same road trip to Colorado. He sold "Hello Walls" to Ray Price for $50.00 When asked later if he regretted doing that, he said "No! Because *really needed* the $50.00!
She had a great career ahead of her when she died in a plane crash leaving a husband and children. I believe she was one of the women inducted into the Hall of fame. You can't beat the originals. Glad to see the younger generation appreciate this music. I was really young then but I still play it today
Willie said it was originally going to be titled Stupid. He was in awe when he pitched the song to her in the wee hours of the mourning. Her first take she sang it like willie. Came back and layed it down in one take. Magic
You both are so funny! Love makes us all crazy! I hear you both and can point to examples for both! Thanks for reacting to this beautiful song, sung by the incomparable Patsy and written by the irascible Willie Nelson.
You guys thanks so much for reaching way back into what is fast becoming the Dark Ages of American pop-radio music (though Patsy began in the country-western genre, she crossed over pretty quickly). I'm nearly 70 years old and this is the music my parents listened to on the car radio. I hope you continue reacting to these old hit songs. It was a different world and a different America but the human emotions were identical to today's. Imagine slow dancing to this song in a dance hall -- all the while wondering if you're going to be able hang on to your partner's love?
I had no idea Willie Nelson wrote this great song, I've known this song my whole life and never knew. I'll bet most people don't know that. I also just read that in 96 Crazy became the most played song in Jukebox history. That's makes sense, who wouldn't want to hear this.
beautiful, beautiful, beautiful voice, song, tempo, piano! have heard this on a couple of thrillers & horror movies which is bizarre but it actually resonated with the 'scenes' & created a more nail-biting crescendo... pure natural talent! no auto tune, not over produced.
Hank Garlin played guitar on this song for Patsy. He was an extreme talented player. He is the one everybody would request for studio sessions. Hank did go crazy in a way. There is movie called 'Crazy' about his life. Very good movie.
Everyone has their favorite Patsy Cline song. But it doesn't matter what song you listen to of hers. You will NOT be sorry. Patsy sings with her emotions. No one can take her place. The hits Patsy could of had if she hadn't left us so soon....I can't imagine.
-the one and only Past Cline. What a voice. She helped bring along a whole female generation of country singers including Loretta Lynn who was a great friend. She died at 29 in a plane crash leaving behind her beloved mother, her husband and 2 babies. There is a great movie about her life called Sweet Dreams after her hit song of the same name starring the great Jessica Lange as Patsy. She and the movie were nominated for Oscars for it.
Composed by Willie Nelson ------arranged & produced by Owen Bradley in Nashville . Patsy has The Jordanaires backing her. ------this song was THE #1 song on juke boxes all over the USA ! I'm old enough that I have loved everyone from Patsy Cline to Dimash over my lifetime and I love that you have been willing to react to both. I have to confess, however, since discovering Dimash all the other favorite music of my music obsessed life feels less important to me.
One of the greats from the Mt. Olympus of female vocalists.. Sarah Vaughn, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holliday, Arethra Franklin, Patsy Cline, Connie Francis, Whitney Houston.... These are the best that ever walked the planet in my opinion.
I love Patsy Cline's voice and I loved "Crazy" about the first 5,000 times I heard it. Patsy had been dead three or four years and so "Crazy" was all over the radio when I first came to Nashville. Also, I loved hanging out in places where they had live music and it seemed that every female singer who got up to sing just had to sing "Crazy". I got so sick of it that I literally would make a dive for my radio to turn to another station when I heard those first few notes because I had seriously OD'd on this song. All these years later, I still have not recovered because I don't like listening to "Crazy" to this day. I love to hear Patsy sing "Walking After Midnight" and "I Fall to Pieces" but I may never be able to listen to "Crazy" again. I'm pretty sure that what was a serious case of overexposure for me was music to Willie Nelson's ears because he wrote this and he got paid by how many times it was played. I still love Patsy's voice and I love songs that were written by Willie Nelson but I will have to take a pass on this particular song.
A legend Miss Patsy Cline was killed just the year after she recorded this in 1963, she was killed in a plance crash. React to her song *FADED LOVE*, the emotive way she sings that, will fill your heart
When Willie Nelson was there when she recorded this. She said “ Boy, I think we got ourselves a hit” she was so sassy and so beautiful. So sad she died at 29.😢😢😢plane crash
Willy offered it to her manager, but she didn't think it was her style and wouldn't sing it. Her manager finally talked her into singing it and it became one of her biggest hits. That voice!
Willie wrote it and recorded it. Then sold it to Patsy for $10. Patsy recorded it in one session. Listen to both to see what Patsy can do with a well written song. Crazy by Patsy is listed as the number one jukebox single of ALL times. Just remember all of the greats of the jukebox era. Patsy set a standard that will never be matched, and her songs will go on for eternity. A God given talent!
I love to watch your reaction to discovering this fabulous smooth voice. Crazy is full of emotion and this is what we listen to back in the day. We were cool, yeah.
Patsy Cline was and is a legend. She died way too young, I believe she had just turned 30, in a plane crash. Leaving behind a husband and two small children. She was amazing!

What is crazy is the Willie Nelson wrote this song! He is such a good writer.
And a man
Yes, some of his hits, like Always on My Mind, were written by others, but he has plenty of great songs he wrote himself.
Ahh, thanks for the reminder.
He has written some great songs.
Sold it for like $50, he was flat broke at the time too but it got his name out there
One of the greatest singers of all time, taken from us way too soon. And an immortal song written by none other than the legendary Willie Nelson!
Patsy had one of the best voices ever, no ifs, ands or buts about it.
I fall to pieces and Sweet dreams are other great ones also.

That was the Hensley blood in her. Patsy's maiden name was Hensley. I'm related to Hensleys on my mother's side.i know how them people can be. Lol
She took Loretta Lynn under her wing.
I remember growing up listening to my grandma's jukebox, she had a thing for Patsy, Connie Francis, and Hank Williams.

Great voice, and thanks to Willy Nelson for writing this timeless classic.
I'm always impressed by the control she had over her instrument. A unique sound with unique properties and she used it perfectly.

Patsy was one of the Queens of early County music. If you liked her, check out Loretta Lynn and Tammy Wynette.
I've suggested them Lori Morgan the Judds etc
She is still the First Queen of Country.
Honesty I think she's better than either one of them.
