No autotune, no overdubs, no synth, just a pure voice that was taken way too soon in a plane crash.
"Walkin' After Midnight" is another classic by Patsy Cline.
As well as She's Got You and Back in Baby's Arms
Another awesome song for sure.
That is my favorite I love Crazy, I grew up on Patsy Cline my friends even knew who she was from being over my house 🤣 but seriously my favorite song is Walking after Midnight always has been 😉💗
This song, along with "A Poor Man's Roses" and "I Fall To Pieces."
As is _Faded Love_ . Patsy, loved that one to death. Especially the very end. Loretta tells a great story about the night Patsy cut Faded Love ... it's pretty sweet. In case you you did not know Loretta, Patsy, and Dottie West were very close friends.
I have never met anyone who didn't like Patsy Cline when they heard her.
Same
Another perfect song written by Willie Nelson.
Willie's version is lovely as well.
lol
Beat me to it.. Willie is one of my heroes
Wow I never knew that.
Willie writes so many great songs, my favourite is "Im gonna love you till the day i die"
Every black woman hearing Pasty for the first time reacts immediately to the first word "crazy"...That's just how special her voice was....and then the feeling hits you...
Lex is so adorable when she FEELS a piece of music. This song totally took her to a very happy place…. The power of music!
Even if a song’s 60 years old, it seems like if it’s written and sung really well…it’s still great. It stands the test of time! Love Patsy Cline.
A classic!
I live and breath Led Zeppelin, but i still have Patsy Cline on my playlist.
No auto tune, just get in front of the mic and sing. Talent
Today they can't fart without using Auto Tune.
true but still there was manipulation with compression/reverb in the studio. nothing is just "pure" on heavily produced albums even back then.
@@sixslinger9951 they didn't have the fancy equipment back then that they have today. 99% was pure talent. Knowing people in the industry we've discussed this.
Why do you hate so much?
This is one of the best country songs of all time
She must have the purest voice known to mankind.
This lady passed away 3 months before I was born. My Mother absolutly loved her. We played this to Mum in the Hospice as she was fading away and her last words were 'Ahh Patsy'! This will always be Mum's song......
Oh and Lex, your smile gets me evey time. Brad you are one lucky man!
@Shining Whit
Your comment brought tears to my eyes. I hope your mom is so happy & healthy on the other side.
And who knows, maybe even has gotten to hear Patsy sing for her. Might be wishful thinking, maybe not. But she certainly deserves that & more.💙
i am 70 years old and i still remember my Mother listining to Pasty when i was like 10 or 12. She is now 93 and still listens when her hearing is good on certain days
Great music is timeless. What a voice. There has never been another Patsy Cline.
Patsy's voice was fantastic
This woman was a legend. She was a beautiful woman with a warm and caring heart. She was taken way too soon in a plane crash, leaving behind a husband and two young children. I believe she had just turned 30. She has may amazing songs, just choose any one of them and you have a winner! Oh and Lex, I think what you were trying to say is that singers back then just made it seem effortless🙂
I loved Patsy Cline, she was truly the queen of country.. Another song to react to is Blue, she yodels in it.
Blue was written for Patsy but she did not live long enough to record it many years later Lee Ann Rhymes sang it and she did a great job with it!
@@smedleybutler1969 that's not true it was a song written and recorded by bill mack in 58. though it was pitched to her because it would fit her style and she passed before she could record it. there were also several recordings/demos of it before leann but it wasn't a hit til then.
Lee Ann Rhymes singing Blue is pretty amazing tune she was a child prodigy at 13 and was called the next Patsy Cline!
Did you know Blue was originally written for Patsy? Then she died and they shelved the song until someone, don't know who, heard LeAnn and thought her voice would be perfect and the rest is history.
@@allenwhitmer8192 That's not true. Bill Mack did not write that song for Patsy. I can't remember the whole story, but he said that is just a rumor.
I close my eyes...and I'm back home with my parents...the kitchen radio playing this song...good memories of a simpler time and life!
“She’s Got You” is another goody.
I have fond memories of listening to Patsy Cline music with my grandma on road trips.
Lex, beautiful story about you and your dad dancing. Thank you for sharing that.
100% felt that comment in my soul… my Pa LOVED Patsy!
Willie wrote/composed this - way back when ...
He wrote it for her to sing, but he has his own version that ain't bad
I grew up listening to Patsy. My mom said what made her truly special was the "cry" in her voice. You feel it.
How about Her Vocal ability, which could never ever be matched? With No Auto Tune, just Pure Talent. One of The Greatest Voices Ever....and in only a short time! Tragic passing to The G.O.A.T.
It's the quality of her voice -- crystal clear tone with so much depth and richness. That's a very, very unusual combination
A perfect recording: the tinkling soulful piano, the bass, the background singers, Patsy's incredible voice, all come together perfectly. Wonderful, a masterpiece.
Lex is an old soul! I love her enthusiasm!!!
Not even being rude but Lex you are a needle in a hay stack, diamond in the ruff, an angel amongst the clouds. One of a kind beautiful. You're a lucky man Brad. Don't mess this up
Diamond in the rough? Nah...straight up diamond.
Brad's the perfect "setting" to show off that diamond...
It's the incredible control of her voice, and this one done live.
How about the Righteous Brothers "Unchained Melody" -- that seems right up your alley (and is an epic performance)
I second this.
Do you need a third ?
Fourth
That would be a yes....
Playing Fallout gave me appreciation for this type of music. The Ink Spots - I Dont Want To Set The World On Fire
Those backing vocals are so awesome together with the texture of that thumping bass and the slip finger style piano lines. What a vibe.
The backing vocals were done by The Jordanaires, they also backed up Elvis on many songs.
I never liked country music of any kind, but my grandpa kept making me listen to it. Awhile after he passed away, something clicked suddenly, and now I love listening to it. It makes me think of grandpa Chuck. ❤️
Brad and Lex i enjoyed the reaction tremendously! I'm happy to see Brad appreciate this one along with you Lex. Patsy was so gifted. These lyrics are indeed great. Much love y'all ❤
Patsy’s voice is like sweet vanilla, it was soooo smooth. This song is a country music staple. There is nothing more classic…
I once sang this to an ailing horse, while I brushed him.
You two make a good couple. You have good values (from things you say). Stay strong and keep working hard at your marriage. You’re an inspiration.
Patsy's voice is just incredible! Another hit for her was Sweet Dreams which you should react to -- it is really good, too. There is also a movie named for that song, Sweet Dreams. It stars Jessica Lang as Patsy with Ed Harris as her husband. Great performances by both, but especially Jessica. She sings all of Patsy's songs in the movie. I haven't tried to find it but it may be on RUclips. It really shows some of the struggles Patsy went through for her music. I loved the movie back then. 80's? 70's? Can't remember!
Ahhhhh One of my favorite songs from Willie Nelson. Patsy - another singer who passed too soon.
My mother loved Patsy Cline. It took me years to go back and listen to this kind of music, but once I did I loved it. My I pod had everything from Patsy to Slipknot. It freaked my friend out one day when Patsy came on and my kids were singing with it from the back seat. Good memories.
"i do agree with him on one thing, it's bad out there folks, real bad but i got a solution stay in tonight and lock your doors..."
Now I'm telling on myself, but I'm 63 and my mom listened to this when I was a kid. This song was written by Willie nelson.
Walkin After Midnight is a great PC song
I call this 'Carrot Cake Music'. It takes me back to the 80s. My parents had split up and my Dad was boarding with a lady friend. Every Saturday we went to visit Dad, this music would be playing in the lounge, I would be eating the lady's freshly baked carrot cake yum yum, Dad and the lady were digging out in the garden. She sadly got cancer and passed away about four years later.
Cline's voice is incredible, but what makes her truly great is her ability to make you feel what she's singing. That's what separates the true greats from the rest. It takes more than a great singing voice. It takes emotional honesty.
This music is soulful. You can't be from the South and not feel this type of music in your bones and blood ♥️💯
This song had so many things going for it: Patsy Cline sang it; Willie Nelson wrote it; the great Floyd Cramer (The Piano Tinkler, and pianist to Elvis) was on piano; and the backup singers were The Jordanaires, the same group that backed up Elvis.
This is the perfect duo reaction to someone who's listened to it for many years (lex) and enjoying herself dancing away and someone who's listening to it for the first time (brad) and thinking what is this ? But i think i like it a lot 😅. Great reaction both all the same
First of all I just want to say I love your channel you two are such a great couple and lex you have such a beautiful smile you just brighten up everything. I grew up in the '60s and my parents would listen to Patsy Cline and I was more in the Beatles led Zeppelin rock and roll but now I find myself listening to all music even country and old music by parents would listen to and appreciating it for the creativity and talent in an error when people had to rely on talent not computers and digital assist so I truly like the older music much better than what's being produced today but I love all music. Getting back to Patsy Cline she was from Winchester Virginia just a few miles from Woodbridge where I grew up and my father knew her through a friend of hers they would drive her to events now and then locally. She has such a beautiful voice however her career was short-lived, she died from a plane crash in 1963 at the age of 30. Anyway I just want to say I really do love your reaction channel and i'll be looking forward many more reactions. Peace to you both.
Imagine listening to this riding down the street on a rainy night. Magic
Never be another like Patsy Cline. Raw power and talent. Kudos.
I still have my mom's records (vinyl), and her record player (that she was given for her high school graduation - she was born in 1946, and passed in 2015). Growing up, I had a stereo that played 8 track cassettes, regular cassettes, record player 33 & 45rpm, and cds. So much great music over the years.
The themes continue through the generations. Her voice and take on the situation is what makes it so special. Her talent just flows out of her just sitting still.
Love patsy cline!! This is one of my favorite songs by her. All time favorite is sweet dreams
Funny How Time Slips Away is my favorite Willie Nelson song. There is a live version with almost every Country legend present that is amazing!!
This is a good song to drink to when you have a broken heart. Love Patsy!
That was actually a really good interpretation of the meaning behind this song, nice dude! Her voice in my opinion is incredible. Thanks.
Back in the day, that is the type of music that they'd sing in Speakeasy's.
My cousin died today and she could sing this song just like Patsy. You gotta love this silky smooth sound!
Patsy Cline was one of a kind. Such a pure voice. The song "Blue" by Leann Rhimes was actually wriiten for Patsy Cline to record, but she tragically died in a plane crash before doing the song. That song was archived and only so many years later was it given to Leann. That song made Leann a star!
I could listen to Patsy all day. A giant of country music.
So wonderful to see todays young people appreciate music that was recorded 60 years ago. Patsy left us far too soon. I often wonder where she could have gone what that voice. You can't go wrong with a Patsy Cline song.
Lex is feelin the groove on this timeless classic!
Her voice control and pitch are amazing. I particularly like the old-time background vocals.
First, this song was actually written by Willie Nelson. Patsy didn’t like it at first, but it became her most memorable song put of lots. Two ladies who put the most emotion into their songs: Patsy Cline and Karen Carpenter.
That break in her voice is... well, crazy lol. What an amazing voice. My God.
Thanks for that beautiful song Willie Nelson, and an angel to sing it! RIP Patsy Cline
Beautiful then, beautiful now! So glad that Brad felt that too!
What is amazing is the slow change from music like this to present day. Each generation makes a little change till we get what is present.
Greatest female singer of all time
Lex, that’s how I learned to dance, too, stepping on Daddy’s feet. He was an excellent dancer. Her and Mom were poetry in motion on the floor. :-D
Incredibly pure voice
Patsy cline majorly makes me think of my mom because she was one of the singers my mom really liked. Poor Patsy died in an airplane accident in 1963.
'I Fall to Pieces' is another great Patsy Song.
What a classy song...what a voice.....
Willie Nelson wrote this song, originally titled stupid, stupid for loving you, stupid for trying, etc
I am not American, but I feel like this song is as truly American as can be. I imagine a highway thorugh the desert and driving a vintage Cadillac, and then stopping on some little dirty old town with an old cigarette smelling casino and a diner, and you go in there and order some pancakes, eggs, and sausage, and a cup of coffee. There is a jukebox machine against the wall, and you put in a quarter and the record slides down and pops this song, and you sit there looking out the window at the dusty road in the hot sun, eating your tasteless breakfast at mid-day, with a broken heart, listening to this song and trying not to drop a tear into your coffee.
Brad reacts the same whether it's Patsy Cline or Led Zeppelin. lol
Don't really know why he bothers when he obviously has no 'feel' for music.
@@andyallan2909 you are a simpleton......stay inside......do not socialize and waste people's time
I used to dance on my Dad’s feet too. First song I remember doing that to was “Kiss an Angel Good Morning” by Charlie Pride. I saw someone else suggested “Blue” by LeAnn Rimes and I agree. I think you guys would love that one also.
If I remember right, This song was released after she died in a plane crash. One of the early pictures in the video she was standing by a guy, I think he died in the plane too as they returned to Nashville. I loved her version of the Tennessee Waltz
That is one classy song....Gold...
This song was written by Willie Nelson and Patsy Cline had a huge hit with it she was an iconic artist and has several more great songs but we lost her in a plane crash so young
I love Patsy Cline's music. She was peerless then, and still is. Thank you for doing this reaction for us. :)
This is an exceptional song. We don't normally listen to a lot from this far back.
She was wearing that headband to hide a nasty scar from a recent serious car crash. Still stood up there and blew everyone away.
First time I watched the biopic, Sweet Dreams ('85), this played at the end and I just teared up. Patsy Cline sings this with so much warmth and feeling, a classic. She was taken from us way too soon, at the height of her career, like so many other great musicians before her.
Lex saying she vaguely remembers playing records and flipping them. Vinyl is still VERY popular, and people will argue that it gives a much better, richer sound than today's digital sound.
Keep up your great analysis 👍
This song reminds me of the American Legion hall in Burwell, Nebraska, they have a little restaurant/bar downstairs called the Legion Club and they serve great steaks ... the place hasn't been renovated since the 1960s and its just the greatest slice of Americana. Man, now I want a ribeye and a few Bourbon & Cokes.
Brad you must like this song !?! It doesn’t matter when it came out, it’s still timeless. You feel every emotion ❤
I grew up hearing this too... A nice walk down memory lane!
I love watching you Lex when you hear music candy. You are like me when it comes to certain tunes, your body loves the sounds you're hearing and enjoying it so much! Me too as far as growing up to this with the albums and 45's on the record player.
Brad, you like it because Patsy Cline could “Sang”. Everyone loves Patsy Cline.
Crazy this track🥰her voice is interesting and energetic. I love this track. I'd like to hear Pink sing this
Patsy's is a classic, unique voice. She has several more songs you should check out.
Patsy was a powerful woman in the music industry!!!!!
Patsy is the Bomb! Check out her songs, "I FALL TO PIECES", "WALKING AFTER MIDNIGHT" and "SWEET DREAMS". You won't be disappointed. Actually Lex, this song came out in the early 60's. Sadly, she is another artist who died tragically in a plane crash at the height of her career.
Boy did your dad raised you right it's good that he turned you onto such good music and that you liked it it's real good that young people look back at music from different decades you'll be surprised how much good music is out there enjoy
My pop had a really nice stereo. The record player's needle was diamond tipped. I used to listen to all of his old records. Good times.
When I was a boy, this was called honkytonk music. This was written by Willie Nelson who you should also listen to.
Today the industry passes off dancers as singers. In the way back singers sang. We didn't have MTV or many videos. They depended on the talent they had in singing. If you couldn't sing it live, you couldn't sing it.
Willie Nelson!! “Good Hearted Woman!”
Yes to Willie Nelson always
