@@jamelakajamal Now that's what you call OLD SCHOOL ! How about going back another 20 years to Sentimental Journey by Doris Day - One of the top 5 female performances of all time only to be rivalled by the great Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holliday ..
25 years ago, two of my teenage nieces and their friends were sitting in the car listening to the radio. They came running in the house yelling, come hear this singer! She's going to be a star! They had discovered Patsy Cline 35 years after she died. Her talent is timeless.

Had a funny with my daughter, when she was around15,she came in from outside with her girlfriends saying to her Mom,there's a new artist and we love her new song!!!!!. She said the songs name and artist,so I started singing the song, long story short. SHE went ballistic and argued with me that there was no way could have known this artist and song!. I said sweetie that was hot before you were born, still didn't believe..............
Willie Nelson wrote this. RIP Patsy. She died relatively young in a plane crash. She was so amazing. I wasn't even alive when she sang this and I adore her!!!
No ass shaking in thongs, no cursing, no bland bass beat from a song someone else made, no repeating the same word from beginning to the end of the song and calling it lyrics, no autotune.. Just pure skill and golden talent.
I find the way pasty cline got her voice to be so interesting...truly wish mine would come like that. But I'll be grateful and take my singing voice anyway God gives it too me!!
Same here,my great aunt was famous for crying in her beer.to this music,I grow up,with all 4generation of women crying in their beer to this song including me.
Tell me you've heard that song then... That would be a crying shame if you haven't heard that Hank Sr. song. I'm gonna keep drinking... till I am petrified. 'cuz then maybe these tears will leave my eyes!
She was a beautiful woman. At the time this was done, she had been in a car accident that left scars on her forehead, so the headband was there to cover them. She's one of the best female singers to grace this planet.
This was my mother's favourite song. A couple of months after she passed, I went shopping alone to a store where we often went together. I was in the change room when I heard her call my name. I said aloud "Is that you mum?" and smiled at myself when no answer came, thinking "Don't be silly". Then this song started playing in the shop and I knew she was there 🥰💖
Wow. I used to sing this song with my Mom, then for her in her final years. I always think of my Mother when I hear it. Now I will always think about you and your Mom too ❤️
She's wearing the headband to hide scars from a nearly fatal car wreck. She was riding with her brother when a truck slammed into her door. While she was in the hospital, Loretta Lynn dedicated I Fall To Pieces to her. She sent her husband to fetch Loretta, and they quickly became best friends. Patsy was killed in a plane crash just a couple of years later. Loretta named one of her twin daughters Patsy, and 60 years later, still has a hard time singing Patsy Cline's songs.
The best can do that. The studio (and radio single) recording of "Superstar" by Carpenters was not only Karen's first take, it was the first time she had sung the song, reading the lyrics off a piece of paper...it is no surprise at all that Patsy would have been the same way.
It's a perfect song by Willie Nelson. Perfect. The words and phrasing are perfect. And it is something a lot of us have endured. Didn't we all love somebody who didn't love us back?
She was broken.... her personal life was hell.... but she kept on going, and never let the audience know what she was going through. She was taken from this life way, way too soon.

@@lowrider4266 It was written for country singer Billie Walker, who turned it down. Later Willie played it to Patsy Cline's husband on a juke box while they were both drunk and the husband then persuaded Patsy to record it.

her band members would say as soon as she'd start sing they'd all get goosebumps! You opened a huge well of killer tunes dude! Check out " So Wrong" next! there's a gasp at the end of the song that will tear your heart out!
My mother always loved Patsy Cline (& so do I). Years later when my mother required hospice care because she was diagnosed with a rare neurological condition for which there was no cure, I brought her several CDs of Patsy's music and it brought her some joy to listen to these songs at the end of her life. I am sure it brought her memories of her youth and happier times.
I always loved Patsy Cline such a tragic loss. I am 69 and glad to see that younger generations can still appreciate such a wonderful voice. God bless you.
Patsy Cline has the most beautiful voice...one that can create chills and bring you to tears. I first heard her when this song came out in 1961and I just turned 80, and her voice still has the same magical effect. She must have been a beautiful soul. It was her own story.
Her spectacular voice was adored by millions all over the world , and I can clearly remember that practically everyone in my moms café and tavern had a tear in their eye on the day she died.
I mentioned that “I Fall To Pieces” will also give chills BUT another song she did called “Sweet Dreams” most definitely will. Highly recommend both tracks.
Don1970 Sweet Dreams was a great song used twice in one of my favorite movies: The Departed. Once as Patsy Cline’s version in the cocaine scene with a Jack Nicholson, and as the closing song done by Roy Buchanan as an instrumental.
YES!!!! Though I prefer Dusty's version, I would suggest following with Aretha's, just to hear how a great song can be rearranged and still sound awesome. (Aretha's father was a preacher, and all the sisters usually sang backup on each others' records, so there's that too...)
Patsy Cline, a most beautiful emotional voice. So sad she died so young. She has at least 5 sensational songs--- but Crazy is my favorite of all. Thanks
In the 60s there was no auto tune or any way to enhance your voice in the studio or on stage. That’s why so many singers from then, my generation, had to be the best they could be. Patsy, Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Rolling Stones, Janis Joplin, The Four Tops, The Surprems, etc. And they are still iconic. If you put in the effort, these singers are the result. Great reaction! ✌🏻& LOVE

Thanks mum and dad for those special times, and thank you dad for getting me forever listening to music with open ears.. Miss you both... RIP.
Previous memories for you.
What a beautiful memory 😊
her band members would say as soon as she'd start sing they'd all get goosebumps! You opened a huge well of killer tunes dude! Check out " So Wrong" next! there's a gasp at the end of the song that will tear your heart out!
when I was on my first deployment to Iraq the only CD I had was Patsy Cline's Greatest Hit's for the first 6 months. It never
got old.
Thank you for your service.
She had a voice. You couldn't break up with a woman who could sing like that.
Or beat her like her drunk husband did!
@@jasonadkins8894 oh wow,that's awful
lol
@@MichelMawon4982 yes and unfortunately true, he was a raging drunk
There's a movie about her tragic life. She deserved a better, much better man than her abusive cheating husband.
Back when this was done, there was no Auto-Tune. People had to really be able to sing !!
This was Patsy - her voice - and not much else. No autotune, no synthesizers, nada. #Perfection.
Nice
This was written by Willie Nelson
Sure was. He also does a beautiful version.
Patsy Cline has the most beautiful voice...one that can create chills and bring you to tears. I first heard her when this song came out in 1961and I just turned 80, and her voice still has the same magical effect. She must have been a beautiful soul. It was her own story.
Willie Nelson wrote this Song “Crazy”...
The simile on your face while you're listening to her gives me life.
Her voice came so amazingly naturally- she never had to force this sound. There isn't a single song of hers that is bad. Your reaction was amazing.
Her spectacular voice was adored by millions all over the world , and I can clearly remember that practically everyone in my moms café and tavern had a tear in their eye on the day she died.
Ms. Patsy's voice,
The manner in which it hits my brain - brings tears to my eyes!!
EVERY!! TIME
I mentioned that “I Fall To Pieces” will also give chills BUT another song she did called “Sweet Dreams” most definitely will.
Not to mention Sweet Dreams was also the title of her movie biopic (1986 I think, fog of age lol). My mom played the soundtrack a LOT.
@@djhrecordhound4391 I vote for sweet dreams
That's the one tears me up every time! OMG makes my chest hurt just thinking about it. Great movie, very true to facts.
Dusty Springfield: Son of a Preacher man
Yes please, I’ve been asking, for a while now!
Bobby Gentry - Ode to Billie Joe. Super great dark southern gothic vibe.
YES!!!! Though I prefer Dusty's version, I would suggest following with Aretha's, just to hear how a great song can be rearranged and still sound awesome. (Aretha's father was a preacher, and all the sisters usually sang backup on each others' records, so there's that too...)
That’s a classic song by Dusty. Good one!
Dusty is sublime. The Look of Love.
One of my mom's favorites.
I grew up hearing this one a lot.
Patsy Cline had a Magical voice and
She died way too young
Rest in peace Beautiful Soul.
Patsy Cline, a most beautiful emotional voice. So sad she died so young. She has at least 5 sensational songs--- but Crazy is my favorite of all. Thanks
She’s a once in a lifetime kind of talent.
When you listen to voices hers, Elvis, Andy Williams and Karen Carpenter, you realize that they were National Treasures
✌🏻& LOVE
Amazing with no auto tune. Real talent. Only way to listen is with your eyes closed. No one can match her hard as they try. Tugs at your heart.
Patsy Cline’s voice gives me the music chills, too. Every single time I hear one of her songs.
The look on your face of pure enjoyment with every smooth note was joy, joy.
You can just float away on her voice. There's no bad Patsy Cline songs-even the lighter ones are very nice, and the good ones are sublime.
This was my moms favorite song. On saturday mornings we would all clean and listen to her music throwback.
Check out Etta James singing “At Last”. It is such a great song like this one....
Definitely this!
Oh ,yes... PLEASE. Eartha Kitt, "At Last" will melt your heart. It is "our" song in my household.
Please do this one Jamel!
I just recommend Sunday Kind of Love 😀

I remember my dad listening to her music when I was growing up. She was like a mentor for Loretta Lynn. She died very young in 1963 at the age of 30 in a plane crash. I wish there was more music of hurts to listen to.I would definitely listen to her song Sweet Dreams. She crossed the country and pop barrier back in those days.
One of my dad's favorites (he passed away in 2019), I used to put music cd's into his player so he could enjoy hearing her voice. He had a huge music collection, he had dementia and was blind, and he treasured his music most of all. I have it now and appreciate the music of his generation... THAT IS REAL MUSIC!! Thanks for sharing!
Her singing is incredible it's like she went to the best recording studio ever and everyone else went to the discount one.
No one could cry out a song like the late great Patsey Cline.
Patsy performed when any singer had to be a great singer... And she stood head and shoulders above all of them. Patsy was the epitome of what a singer should strive for.
You are so right...you'll never mistake her voice for anyone else's.
Patsy and Loretta, both.
Watching someone hear Patsy for the first time!!!!!! My grandpa loved himself some Patsy, I grew up on this. Her voice is like no other.
