And folks that's how it's done, no auto tune, sung straight from the heart.
Ja!
And live!!
And he was sick but parents in audience
Pure great DNA and skill :)
his coral colored suit was because this was the Andy Williams Valentine Day special. I saw it on TV. I was 22 years old at the time. It is just as thrilling today as on that special day. Bobby purportedly wasn’t feeling very well this night but one would never know it. This was a live performance without auto tune, gyrations, or flashing lights used to cover up performance artists today. His was pitch perfect. He just stood and delivered! 🥰
Many people has covered that song but Bobby Hatfield owns this song!!! Also this is just the best live performance I've heard and I've been listening for 70 years... Just a SPECTACULAR PERFORMANCE!!!
It was incredible!
You are sooo right... Bobby owns this song. What a voice!
In a longer version of this, they reveal that Bobby sang this by himself because Bill didn't think it was gonna be a hit. When the host asked Bill "What do you normally do when he's singing?", Bill said "I find a little corner and kick myself a lot." Then the host said, "Come on, I'll show you the little corner I use when Tony Bennett sings San Francisco." 😂🤣😂🤣
Agree 100%
R.I.P. bobby ❤
This song was written in 1955 for the movie "Unchained". It was used in "Ghost". The Righteous Brothers are Bobby Hatfield (seen here) and Bill Medley. They each sang solos in their performances. This is, and always will be, Bobby's song. Sadly, Bobby passed away in 2003. This was a live performance, he had a cold and his mom was in the audience. No auto tunes. The audience is quiet and respectful. Check out "You've Lost That Loving Feeling", "Ebb Tide" and "You'll Never Walk Alone".
The song was originally done in 1948 for the movie “unchained”
@@markpotter3963 Unchained Melody" is a 1955 song with music by Alex North and lyrics by Hy Zaret. North wrote the music as a theme for the prison film Unchained (1955),[1] hence the song title.
Thank you for the insights! We've got You've Lost That Loving Feeling coming soon 🫡
@@markpotter3963 Correction, it was sung in a movie called "Unchained" in 55' and was performed by Todd Duncan.
@@markpotter3963 it was really the potter scene with demi more and patrick swayze that made it more famous and the ending was so emotional with the unchained melody orchestral .
His voice spanned several octaves, no falsetto … if you like this, catch him singing Summertime, off the charts!
If you like octaves, check out Dimash.
Five octaves...
I like the look on his face as the song ends. He knows he hit it.
And he had a cold!
And that little lip bite is priceless.
He really nailed it. No one even comes close on this song. What a towering talent. His mother, who was in the audience, must have been bursting with pride at her son standing up there all by himself and giving the best live performance I ever heard. RIP Bobby Hatfield.
Oh...Bobby Hatfield has such an amazing range! He did this live & no auto tune! lol. Bobby had a cold when he sang this for the show....just incredible! Bill Medley & Bobby Hatfield are the "Righteous Brothers". they flipped a coin to see who got to sing this song! They always had a single or two on their albums that they each did. Others have sung this song...but no one sang it like Bobby!!! Check out "You've Lost That Loving Feeling"! It has both gentlemen in it.
Thx for the info! Got that one coming soon!
@@barsandbarbells2022 😁
They actually didn’t flip for it I watched an old interview after he sang this on that very show and bill didn’t want to sing it he didn’t think it would be a hit 😊😂 and he says boy was I wrong
@@leejshafer The interview is actually a part of this same appearance on _The Andy Williams Show._ However, both the coin flip story and the, "I didn't think it would be a hit," line are almost certainly just promotional gimmicks. The actual decision was most likely made by Phil Spector, their manager at the time. The song is suited to Bobby's voice, and most feel it works better as a solo than as a duet.
Righteous Brothers elected to R and R Hall of Fame in 2004 , their tune " You've Lost That Lovin Feeling " , most played song of the 20 th century .This song has been covered over 670 times .......but Bobby Hatfield OWNS it ...
Coming soon!
Almost 60 years later, this is still considered by many to be the best "live" performance ever. I won't argue that.
He was battling a head cold,he suffered from stage fright, and his mother was sitting behind him.
Funny how you mention Dirty Dancing... The other Righteous Brother, Bill Medley, worked with Jennifer Warnes to sing the song "I've Had the Time of My Life", the song Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Gray danced to in the finale...
If you want more Righteous Brothers, I suggest "You've Lost That Loving Feeling" next... Their harmonies will blow you away. It also happens to be THE most played song on the radio of the 20th century.
Also, right before this performance, which was on a live TV show back in the day, included an interview with both Righteous Brothers that took place right before this performance... They talked about how they got their name, why Bobby Hatfield sang this song alone, where Bill was during this performance, and what he be doing while Bobby was performing this song.
Thx for the info! We've got You've Lost That Loving Feeling coming soon!
Blue eyed soul at it's best on the Andy Williams Show in 1965.
A good singer. No computer, no autotune, no crap. Using his voice, the way its meant to be done. Crazy voice this guy
Just pure, effortless talent.
Covered by over 670 artists but you listening to the gold standard sung by the late great Bobby Hatfield. This is live on the AndyWilliamsShow in 1965. To me the greatest duo of all time. They’re harmonies are flawless. They have many great songs like the most listened to song of the 20th Century “You’ve Lost That Loving Feeling.” Another # 1 hit “Soul and Inspiration”. Also try “there tribute song to stars that have passed “Rock And Roll Heaven “. You can’t go wrong with any thing they do. Thx
Cool! We'll do another for sure!
This song has a special meaning to us that were going to Vietnam back in the 60's.
Thank you for your service, Walt.
Green , green grass of home always got me when I was off the coast of Vietnam aboard a guided missile frigate plan guarding for the carrier.
I confess when I was alone at my cleaning space one day and it came over the speaker,I cried.
@@karenlkvm Thank you. It became my job for the next 24 years.
@@larrygarrett724 I was getting ready to leave country when that one came out. It still takes me back to that time.
My dad served in the army for 4 years and navy for 21. My heart goes out to you all who serve. Thank you❤❤❤
Bobby Hatfield's parents were in the audience. He was singing to them.
So effortless. Back when you really had to sing. Before auto tune. Great reaction! Most people’s recognize from the movie “Ghosts” with Patrick Swayze (from Dirty Dancing)👍🏼
Thank you! Such a great talent!
You pulled up what is widely considered the most romantic song and the greatest live performance of that song of the 20th century. Sung by Bobby Hatfield.
This is one of greatest live performance by anyone. I was 15 yrs old when I watched him sing this beautiful song on the Andy Williams show in 1965. He owns this song, no auto tunes just pure raw talent. RIP Bobby We miss hearing your beautiful voice! ❤❤❤
This song is amazing it's one of my all time favourites only Bobby can sing this others have tried but have failed
Hit the charts twice and this live performance is even better than the cut. So fortunate this was recorded via live TV. Bobby Hatfield had the voice, looks and charm of a great performer. He has numerous solos like My Prayer or Summertime and of course the plethora of his as a duo with Bill Medley in the Righteous Brothers.
You’ve hit the jackpot of fantastic singers, music. The Righteous Brothers were a classy, talented duo. There is no end to their great hits, duos and solos. Happy listening!
Bobby Hatfield was one of the greatest singers ever. When he teams up with Bill Medley they belt out great songs as You lost that Loving Feeling Ebb Tide For once in my Life, Soul and Inspiration. They were both on 🔥FIRE doing Night Time is the Right Time and Little Latin Lupe Lu. Best of success on yr channel.
Thank you!
Every time our troops are away and coming home this song has been played on radio over and over. It NEVER gets old.
This was called blue eyed soul. Bobby hit 20 separate notes in this songs. No auto tune or trickery with the song.
So true & NO falsetto
You need to back up this video to see the humorous chatting with both the Righteous brothers, Bobby Hatfied and Bill Medley with Andy Williams. It tells how they got their name, Righteous Brothers. Bobby tells Andy he sings it by himself. Bill jokes when he says he didn’t think it was going to be a hit. They flipped a coin to see who would sing this solo on one of their albums.
The song was in the 1990 movie Ghost.
Very cool!
The range of Bobby Hatfield is just amazing this song has been used many times in movies.
I know before I start to watch I will love it, I listen to it every day lots of times. Hope you do their other stuff.
60 years ago and still makes women fan themselves, Bobby had it.
Cool reaction......this guy voice was smooth as butter!
Thx! He's smooth in general! 😂
Women all over the world drooled over Bobby...he was one of the greatest voices of the 20th century.
I've been seeing a lot of younger people turning on to the older music like that. I am so glad to see that you appreciated it back in the day. Love the song thank you
Bobby Hatfield had a one in a million voice, a counter tenor with a 5 octave range. If you listen to the recording of this song it is different. Bobby changed it up for this performance, on the Andy Williams show, because it was a live performance with an audience of over 1 million viewers. He wanted to show off his incredible rsnge and he did; he hit this out of the park.
There have been over 670 covers of this song and it is s popular song used at weddings. Bobby's original recording is used in the movie Ghost.(the pottery wheel scene and at the end of the movie.)
The Righteous Bros. We're inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003 and shortly after that Bobby passed away.
Bill Medley ( The other brother) had a big hit with Jennifer Warnes called I Had The Time of My Life from the movie: Dirty Dancing....it's the famous dance scene at the end of the movie.
Check out their big hits: You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling, Soul and Inspiration, You'll Never Walk Alone, Rock and Roll Heaven, Summertime ( just Bobby).
Good singing, so beautifully done. We had beautiful music back in the day
So many people have sung this song but no one will ever do it like Bobby Hatfield. Watch the before and after if that clip u watched. It tells why he is solo on that one. Gorgeous. Beautiful man with a beautiful voice.
They said his mother was in the audience and had never heard him sing this. He wanted to be perfect for her…I think he pretty much nailed it.
Mother and Fiancee, I believe is how the story goes. So not only was he singing this for his Mother who had never heard him sing it, but he was also, quite literally, singing this to the woman he was in love with.
Great reaction! This was a flawless live performance. Before it started you wondered if the singer would be doing his own melodies. I think you meant acapella, where no instruments are used. If you want to react to an excellent acapella group, try Home Free. Great vocals and you'd swear they were hiding a drum kit and other instruments somewhere on their bodies.
Thanks for the info and the suggestions!
TO BELIEVE THAT BOBBY HATFIELD SUNG THIS SONG "LIVE" BACK IN 1965 IS JUST SO EPIC. THIS PERFORMANCE IS WHAT WE WOULD CALL NOW "X-FACTOR PLUS".
Well, folks you like so many others reactors started at the end of a small interview with Andy Williams which where this video comes from they were guest on his. Now if you care to check out the origin and history of this classic song to hear some of the 1,500 version of this song. Bobby Hatfield (this is him singing) has the most acclaim and popular version of this song. The Righteous Brothers were known for the ' Blue-eye ' soul sound.
Bobby Hatfields voice was like warm honey. No auto tune back then, just a microphone and pure talent
This is before autotune when you really had to be able to sing. "You've Lost That Loving Feeling," brings in the other half deep baritone which is in perfect balance. Nice...
It was the most radio-played song of the 20th century.
That one is coming soon!
This song was covered I believe over 600 times by artist. This is the original one from live 1965. No auto-tune back then. Crystal clear voice. This song was in the movie Ghost.
This has always been in my top 3 favorite songs of all time. Bobby absolutely killed this performance especially with his mother in the audience ❤The setting, the ensemble, and of course that Voice!
There are some songs back from this era that are just meant to listen to. You don't need any comments interrupting the song. There is not one tsinger today who can match him this was a live performance no autotune no special effects just pure talent
I appreciate that you all reviewed and have reviewed several now but the vocal efforts seem to be underappreciated. New fan and follower. I literally get goosebumps from the song which is well before my "time"
Just an FYI, he bit his lip when he finished because his mom was in the audience. How sweet. I like you two! keep it up
Thank you for joining us!
RIP Bobby 💗 On my 10th birthday I received my 1st Righteous Brothers Album, I'm now 68 and will always treasure it. You have to watch the movie Ghost with Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze when they"re playin with the clay !!
Okay - so he looks like a Ken doll - but damn! LIVE performance.. no autotune, and not straining or screaming.. just beautiful pitch, range and breath control... thanks for reacting...
From 'Ghost' soundtrack with Demi Moore & Patrick Swazey, who also was in 'Dirty Dancing'.
Good to see you young folks liking the classics!👍👍🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
This greatest of classic songs was written for the (1955) prison movie "Unchained" hence the title of the song. It was composed by multi-Academy Award winning composer Alex North with lyrics by Hy Zaret. It was first sung in the (1955) movie by Afro-American Opera Singer, Broadway and Movie Actor, and College Professor Todd Duncan. He was truly a renaissance man.
Ten years later in (1965) and 58 years ago. Bobby Hatfield of the 'Righteous Brothers' sang before a live audience on the 'Andy Williams Show.' His performance along with the masterful performance of the orchestra created what many in the entertainment industry has dub, as one of the greatest live performances in the history of live television. The rest as they say is history...
Queen love of my life and Don't stop me now
Chicago hard to say I'm sorry
Bobby was a true contratenor, an extremely rare voice type. No falsetto required.
That's the time when America had singers with talent.
in '65, 66, 67, 68-ish this was THE love song, particularly for girls whose love was in Vietnam 💕
The inimitable Bobby Hatfield.
The Righteous Brothers music had both harmony and melody. Today's music doesn't even come close to classic music like this. There was no auto tune or any electronic enhancement, just raw vocal talent.
I saw this TV program when he sang this song on 1965.;I was 14 now almost 72
If this song doesn't float a woman's boat, nothing will! Hahaha
That’s Bobby Hatfield the one and only… also this was live
I was fifteen years old watching him perform this beautiful song on the Andy Williams Show! Performed live no damn auto tune!
Lovin the diversity of this channel deff keeping it interesting guys!
Thank you!! We appreciate you!
Nobody will ever do this song like Bobby Hatfield of the Righteous Brothers and I never listen to other covers because it's a waste of my time after his. They take me back to when I had razor hair cuts and combed my hair like them listened to them on AM radio because that's all our 1960's cars had and still sounded better than these Boom Cars and the stuff that comes out of them.
You have to check out Lara Fabian's "Adagio" and "Broken Vow" from her live "From Lara with Love" concert.
Love the righteous brothers
NO autotune. Live. 1965 recording equipment. Great vocals!
He almost certainly didn’t even have monitors in. Just him on a hot mic with the music in the background.
This song was featured in the movie “ Ghost” with Patrick Swayze.
You lost that loving feeling. The Righteous brothers were on the Andy Williams show Andy asked for Unchained Melody, Bobbys mother was there,he was singing it for her.
Greatest individual performance in history. No pro tools, no studio tricks, just a man, his voice, and a microphone.
The only thing I can think of that’s in the same tier is Art Garfunkel singing Bridge over troubled water live in Central Park
Thanks for the memories again!
Out of the army, paying on the first house, starting a family... and THIS is on the radio.
The song is from a MOVIE entitles UNCHAINED-- about a prisoner missing his lover.... This was Bobby's FIRST time doing it professionally IN FRONT OF HIS MOM- who was in the audience... The "other brother" lets him do this one alone because of his extreme skill with it-- he has sense enough to knkow another voice would must mess it up... Bobby hits 6 octaves in this one-- easily- no strain AT ALL. BEST version of this EVER-- (it was featured in GHOST with Patrick Swayze)...Elvis tried it and just f...d it up bigtime.. THERE is one group called TEXAS TENORS -- from AGT that do it a GREAT justice job too!!! check them out.
Up & down, Do you mean has range? Well yes, he does
It was around the same time as Elvis and he did record it as well, I love Elvis but this is definitely known to be the best recording. Everyone was singing it. There is a young girl Angelina Jordan who recorded quite a few years back and really did it well. She is now 17 and has just recorded her first EP Old Enough with six originals on it she is with Republic Records now. Do yourselves a favourite and listen to it. Blessings to you from South Africa
Bobby Hatfield--20 years in his grave and still making women's hearts flutter...
I graduated from high school in 1965 and my best friend Bob's favorite duo He is no longer alive but is probably smiling from heaven
Awesome job Guys Love Your Revews
Thank you! Appreciate that!
One of the best voices ever. This song was in dirty dancing so.. nobody does it btr. Imo. Dan 1/23/23
@@SpkeNo1 you are correct.🥴🥴 i made a mistake. Sorry bout that. But still a great song voice. Thanks for letting me know. Just enuff of that to keep me humble😂😂 take care now..👍🇱🇷🇱🇷🇱🇷🇱🇷
The Righteous Brothers are a duo. This is Bobby Hatfield (RIP) with his 3-octave range tenor, reaching high soprano range - effortlessly with superb tone quality. The other half is Bill Medley - rich and powerful baritone. Their combined harmonies are impeccable. Keep in mind that this is 1965, before the existence of auto tune and other "wizard of oz" computer aids = this is just pure raw talent! This song was on the soundtrack to the movie "Ghost" starring Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore. Their first big single hitting #1 was in 1964 - "You've lost that loving feeling", which was a focus on Medley's baritone and their harmony as a duo, and was part of the soundtrack to the movie - "Top Gun" (the first one) starring Tom Cruise. That song was also the most played and requested song of the 20th century. Their 3rd #1 was in 1966 titled "Soul & Inspiration" which is kind of a "shared song" between both. Also, in the movie "Dirty Dancing" a song sung by the duet of Bill Medley and Jenifer Warnes was part of that soundtrack - "I've had the time of my life" - which was the song they danced to at the end of the movie.
The version where they do their own music (through vocal instrumentation) would be Home Free's cover of this song.
The song was a big part of the movie "Ghost" with Patrick Swazye, who was also in "Dirty Dancing". Bobby supposedly did a new recording for the movie.
Elvis had a great rendition of this. Please check out the live performance by Elvis of this in one of his last concerts.
you gotta check out Marcelito Pomoy. he was on America's got talent and is so fricking amazing I can't even begin to describe it. please take the time to check him out. no one else like him in this world!!
I did not see much reaction from both of you. ( by the way, need headphones. All you did was rocking from side to side. You did not talk about how singing makes you feel. This song does not age. I listen to it again and each time it brings me joy, fills my heart with delight and sheer happiness. I do not belong to that generation, but do not we all listen to Mozart. Beethoven, other great composers? Their music is outside of time, so is this music. I saw reaction to that music on other RUclips channels. There were very emotional reactions and even disbelief, that Bobbie’s voice is from the 60-s. His voice is amazing and he does almost impossible things with it! Timeless performance! Not just peaceful, like you mentioned. He sings with passion, but one can listen with passion. I do not understand, how your reaction could be so cold. Almost everyone in comments talks about song, how great it is, but we can listen to it ourselves. I was waiting for your reaction, your emotions, but it did not happen.
Unfortunately most reactors have no real music appreciation. I was disappointed in this, plus they kept interrupting it in the middle of a note. They have no idea that you need to let him finish a note or phrase, then pause, if you have to.
@@catherinelw9365 that is exactly right! They said:
It was cool, soothing.
They chose the wrong song. They should not have “analyse” this song in the first place.
His pareents were in the audience that night. He was really nervous! lol
For some modern stuff, try Band-Maid’s song “Influencer”.
He's been in prison on a chain gang & is being released. He's asking his girl if she still loves him & can he come home to her.
It was in the movie, Ghost.
Bill Medley reported was initially upset only Bobby Hatfield had vocals on this song. He asked their manager what he was supposed to do while Bobby sang. The manager replied "cashing the checks".
the greatest TV performance of a male vocalist ever
His brother is Bill Medley who sang the theme to Dirty Dancing.
With none of the modern auto tune,a reel voice. :-)
FIRST TIME I HEARD THIS SONG, IT WAS SUNG BY THE PLATTERS THEY WERE FILMED IN PARIS FRANCE . IN 1955 OR 56 .
And that's how it's done...pure unadulterated talent!
Your “co-host” is 🔥🔥🔥
Just to let you know, there are 2 people but Bobby just sings this song himself. His partner, Bill Medley originally produced it and he sang with Jennifer Warren in "Dirty Dancing"
Born in 89 all I listen to is 60s 70s 80s and 90s
The Penny always drops, but my good man, that was the slowest one ever! I was almost shouting at the monitor "Dude, have you never seen any fucking movie ever, how do you not know this?!" And then "Ah hang on a second". That was a close one. Love you, love your work darlings. Air kisses!
This song was in the movie Gost
The girls back in the day would call his voice Buttery
