    Hey man I am a behind the scenes kindah person. I am watching a guy live the dream. You had an idea, got tiered of relying on unreliable people. and took the matter into your own hands. You telling the story of how your idea came to be a self manufactured product is amazing. The story behind your product all most means more to me than having the product. I may never compete with your product. But having it to enjoy and play with. I cant wait for. Watching this start from the ground up is cool. Thanks man. My order will be in soon. When I start seeing chips fly, and the lead time on a new barrel drop. I will have one on order. living in CA its hard to find a machine shop willing to cut, chamber and thread a barrel is damn near imposable.

    DMG Mori is a very high quality machine. It’s so much nicer than a Haas. Spindle speed on it is very good for roughing and finishing of hardened parts without needing to anneal. Welcome to the world of machining, your world is about to be change forever. You’re going to wake up in the middle of the night wondering if you checked the ph of your coolant tank.

    • @raybship1
      @raybship1 3 года назад

      And if you let that coolant sit for a few days it will get to stinking ! There is these little wheels that skim the oil out of the coolant tank and they help big time!

    • @barryboyd7973
      @barryboyd7973 3 года назад +3

      Ray Blankenship There are synthetic and semi synthetic coolants that don’t smell if left sitting. What makes them stink is bacteria growth. I have a semi synthetic oil in my lathe that doesn’t stink at all.

      It does depend on the quality of the Soluble Oil you are using.
      The old school ( Mineral ) Cutting Oils are very bad for growing bugs which is not great for you and the machine.
      But an Oil Skimmer Definitely makes a difference.
      Best to use either Semi Synthetic or Full Synthetic Cutting Oils regardless of the machine.

      @@raybship1 A well maintained new machine without oil leaks , paired with the correct coolant for the materials you're gonna run Won't stink after a few days . Not even after weeks , but a "middle aged machine" that was never properly cleaned will smell like shyte .

    I cam in my shop one day and my CNC vertical milling center's tool holder was rotating backwards. I would call for tool 18 and end up with 2 as an example. It took me all day and then i realized that the tool changer was the only thing that was not on a servo drive was the changer. I reached over and hit my lathe and sure enough it was backwards. Sometime the prior night the electrical company had a problem with the lines and when they hooked them up they hooked them up wrong and had 2 of the three phase lines backwards. It took them 4 months to change it. In the mean time i just reversed my wiring in my shop....

    Getting there, looking good. You'll do yourself a huge favor by purchasing your coolant in a 55 gal drum and installing a coolant mixer. You'll need a waterline but it will save you time and muscle strain. Don't forget to get a refractometer to check the coolant mixture, it changes over time while it's in the machine, so you'll want to check it fairly often for ideal performance. Can't wait to see the next episode! 👍

    My thoughts on starting a business.
    Starting a New Business from the ground up is both Very rewarding but very tiring .
    You keep going hoping there is some light at the end of tunnel.
    Many fail to see it through till the end, thinking it is either to hard or it is not for them.
    Happy to say i kept going because i knew what giving up would mean to me ????
    Climbing mountains is Not for everyone.
    So please give some thought to those who climbed there mountains to reach the top and fight everyday to stay there.
    Being in business is NOT as easy as some seem to think.
    Don't be jealous of those who made it work for them.
    If you never push yourself.
    You will Never succeed.

One thing though. This stuff requires DI water. Oh did I forget to mention, because you have a new machine. Blaser with fill your machine with coolant for free on the first charge up.

    Better keep a large repair fund on the side because being a newbie you WILL eventually crash the machine, and those repairs are extremely expensive.

    Talk to your coolant company about type of water to use. I’ve never heard of any manufacture recommending tap water. Use DI, RO, or distilled. You want it free of minerals. Tap water is great for drinking but not for coolant. And yes I learned the hard way. Nice machine feed it premium coolant.

      Erik sells muzzle brakes, tuners and combo muzzle brake/tuners. Erik is a competitive shooter. These items he sells are useful in improving the accuracy of your rifle, whether you are a competitive shooter, a hunter or just a plinker. As far as rifles go, everyone prefers an accurate one over an inaccurate one, especially competitive shooters. The following is my understanding of the items he will be making in his new CNC machine.
      Muzzle brake.
      When you fire a rifle the bullet and gas from the explosion go down the barrel and out the muzzle. The muzzle brake directs some of the gas sideways as it exits the barrel. This reduces the push-back into your shoulder to make for a smoother firing rifle. Smoother firing means it’s easier to be accurate with your shots. The muzzle brake is screwed onto the end of your barrel.
      Tuner
      When you fire a rifle the barrel is exposed to a lot of force which causes it to vibrate/ oscillate. This can cause some problems with accuracy because the bullet can exit the barrel in an inconsistent manner from one shot to the next. A tuner can reduce the harmonics in the barrel and help the bullet exit the barrel in a more consistent manner, resulting in improved accuracy. Erik’s tuners are also screwed onto the end of the barrel. There are also other types of tuners that go around your barrel like donuts, but they are unattractive and kind of primitive in comparison to Erik’s tuners.
      Brake/Tuner Combo
      This screws onto the end of the barrel and provides both a muzzle brake and a tuner in one combined unit.
      Note: Some barrels come from the factory with a threaded portion at the muzzle end if the barrel so you can screw muzzle brakes or tuners onto the end of your barrel. In other cases you might have to get your gunsmith to cut threads on the end of your barrel.
