    Thanks for this interview Cirro! Haval/GWM have really catered to the SA market needs. They're success has definitely rocked the traditional brands not just in price but in design and features. I don't drive one but really respect their offerings. They will be harder to ignore with the Hybrid line up making it even more affordable to get around! It's great seeing manufacturers being in touch with customer needs of a market.

      Mmm. Not for no reason. Comparing the haval to similar vehicle at a higher price, you will very quickly notice the difference in quality. Specifically mechanically. Haval hit the sweet spot of putting a nice shell on an average body, and doing it at a good price where consumers are willing to sacrifice certain qualities for a ‘better looking’ car. I think they look super cool for the price.

      Haval has gained traction as a value brand offering to SA motorists. Having said that it is still rough around the edges when it comes to nvh. Regarding price, the industry as a whole has seen massive incresses in raw materials and overall production costs. Add in the 18% import tax we pay and you get a more realistic picture. I'm not yet at the point to consider owning a Chinese branded vehicle but that may change with the launch of the Ora EV brand.

There are some things I dislike as well but overall, a great car to drive, especially on long roadtrips. For the price of top haval spec, you couldn't even get the low spec of Toyota, kia or Hyundai near that price, brand new. If I still make a profit at R2 why would I be a shark to sell it at R5. I know the rules of demand and supply. But honestly, it's getting a bit much now. I know people who, a few years back, could comfortably afford a well appointed C Class. Now they can't even afford a base model version. If they don't need to increase the price, they shouldn't. The food safety problem in China has been repeatedly criticized and Made in China has become a synonym for black-hearted products, which has also caused a global trend of boycotting products from China. Although the Chinese authorities have taken measures to rectify the situation, there are still many counterfeit and substandard food products. By analysis, we think the reasons are as follows: First, under the high-pressure rule of the CCP and its strong suppression of righteous beliefs, people no longer pursue spiritual upliftment. The result is a rapid decline in morality, and they will do anything bad for the money. The second is the low cost of breaking the law, which makes some people break the law for profit. The third is that China's supervision is not strict. Although there are many government departments that have the power to manage the food industry, the characteristic of the management is that "everyone has the power, but no one is responsible." Everyone will scramble to take care of things that can gain benefits, and no one wants to handle things that are not profitable. The fourth is that China's food processing plants are small, and there is a substantial number scattered in various places; especially in rural areas, there are more family workshops, which also brings certain difficulties to the supervision. Moreover, most counterfeiters are less educated, and their legal awareness is weak, which increases the probability of violating the law. Of course, finally, it is caused by the deterioration of people's morality. As long as people abandon the principles of moral belief and moral values, and no longer have the constraints of moral standards, all kinds of counterfeit foods will continue to emerge.

    Thank you Cirro! I am keeping a keen eye on this brand, out of interest sake. However, one thing that I have noticed, unfortunately: a fair number of Jolions seem to be driving around with bent axles these days. Of course, our roads are not the best, but I have yet to see a RAV 4 for instance, with an axle that appears to be bent. I get the feeling that the "chassis" of the Jolion is not quite up to support the weight of the overall car. To be fair, I have seen some Hyundai IX35s which appear to have bent axles too... (But those cars are usually a little older already compared to brand new Jolions that already have a wheel looking like it's overdue for a re-alignment). In fact, I'd love to hear what the Tire places, such as TWT and Tyre-Mart, have to say about Haval Jolion wheel alignments? If there's already a trend popping up? Because, as I've said, just by observing the cars on the roads every morning and afternoon as I drive to work and back, it seems like there could well be a legitimate issue on the Jolions, not being able to keep their wheels looking straight for long enough!
    But having said all that. It would be great if GWM would setup a HAVAL Assembly plant and parts factory in South Africa, Much like Ford, Toyota, Mercedes, VW, BMW, etc. That would truly inspire product confidence in terms of service longevity.
    Great Channel. Thank you Cirro.

      I was about to comment this, the questions are soft and the answers seem so prepared. I like the gwm/haval brand however there are so many questions that he could have focused on such as:
      1. Fuel consumption claims not being reality
      2. Availability of parts
      3. The car has not been customised for the right hand driving countries - the screen seems off centre to the left (China drives on the right)
      4. Transmission issues reported

    What is the plans to get more entry level products? The H1, and H2 is gone.
    The funky cat is over R600k and electric, so not really entry level.

    I am sure HAVAL is great car if you compare money for value in terms of technology and maybe looks as well. But Toyota has the upper hand in the car market and they are renowned for there reliability for a very good reason. They have a very high standard for spares quality hence there cars are more expensive and more reliable. I think HAVAL is still a long way as Toyota`s run over a half a million km with a original drive train and enjins. He also mentioned the parts and vehicle availability challenges and there Toyota is ahead as well as there parts in most models are interchangeable and more available in south Africa even as far as upper Africa regions. The final closing argument is the depreciation value. In the past year Toyota`s have increased in value in most cases especially the Legend 45 bakkies that still retails nearly a third of the value of a HAVAL P1 series.

    with GWM etc cars being imported, how are they able to sell their vehicles for such a good price even with the huge import duties? Electric cars suffer from this hence why they are soooo expensive. Hoping the Ora cat will be much cheaper.

    • @pauljansen6650
      @pauljansen6650 Год назад +1

      @weetbix2083 for no particularly good reason! ICE import duties are 18% while EV duties are 25%....so it's more but nothing close to enough to make it 2-3 times more expensive

    • @weetbix2083
      @weetbix2083 Год назад +1

      @@pauljansen6650 Electric vehicles cost more to make. This is the premium you pay in the rest of the world despite the subsidies the average tax payer contributes towards, for something they will never afford. They dont want the populous to afford transport. Its too much freedom and too taxing on resourses reserved for the super rich. (paraphrasing UN Agenda 2030 and Klaus Swab from WEF)

    • @JurgensvanEeden

      Even their Ice cars smash the composition on specs and pricing and which makes someone wonder why locally made cars from the big auto companies are so very expensive.
