Having watched both Australian and South Africans car reviewers you get the immediate impression that the Australian doesn't review the Haval objectively but rather emotionally based on their biased and racist attitude towards Chinese cars . It's a shame really as it makes their review totally of no value.

The H6 GT is such an interesting offering from Haval. I recently tested one myself, and I loved it! The fuel consumption was a worry for me too...but it's definitely somewhat of a relief to hear that some owners have achieved much better figures later down the line. I Have a white one. Awesome vehicle for the price. :)
    Did 1171km’s in weekend trip.
    Best Fuel Consumption figure = 7.5L/100km @ 110km/h Ave.
Ave. Fuel Consumption Figure was = 9.2L/100km for this trip.
The drive was smooth even with all the rain, potholes, animals and trucks. I must admit the average fuel consumption included a lot of spirited driving.
The safety systems kicked in many times helping me to stay clear of the side of the road and especially when it rained very hard to stay within the lines and showing me other vehicles positions around me.
Seating was very comfortable and the climate Control worked perfectly. Overtaking was a piece of cake with this vehicle, lot’s of reserve power available. The all-wheel drive system ensured max traction and grip in all conditions.
    In town consumption = 9.5 - 10.0L/100km
The Manufacturer’s claimed 8.4L/100km combined seems valid.

Your point on the throttle while sitting in traffic (7:50) 100% true, no drama detected there. I have an H1 and it does exactly the same thing (when in 1st gear and you're crawling in traffic), most annoying thing ever, but I still love my car. Fuel consumption does get better over time. I went to view and test drive this car... love it love it. I personally have come to learn, unless you are well off and have tones of money, in the economic times we live in one has to really consider what luxury means, the idea of luxury is subjective, to be honest, you don't buy a car to keep forever, so why bother buying a very expensive car in the first place when you can buy a car like this, that is comfortable and does what it needs to do.

We bought the H6 with the max specs in the beginning of December 2022. Done over 4k in a month, and for now we are super happy with it.
Basically, H6 and GT are only visually different. It is true that the fuel consumption is not the best (in Europe, super urban is around 11l/100km, highway is around 10l/100km at 140kmh. 8.5 is around 120kmh). But everything (almost) you said its true and we are more than happy with the review, as we are with the car :) It drives nicely (not a sporty car for sure but super comfy and pleasant on the highway), a lot of gadgets and space inside the cabin, materials are really good, trunk of 600l is more than enough for our needs. And, H6 does not have (at least in our experience) issue of getting the throttle down in the city, so we don't constantly "swing" :D
The fuel consumption will drop below 10 for sure after the first service (10k kms). Big difference is the quality of the fuel. I've seen it escalating up to 4l for the average fuel consumption with the same driving regime. Warranty is 5 years or 100k kms. Does it have any bigger mechanical issues? We don't know yet...for now it runs smoothly.

My only two issues with this car are that bottom part of the seats are weirdly short. People aren't all short like the Chinese. Secondly it bothers me that it's rear seats cannot recline. Why would you have such a large vehicle only to not be able to sleep in the back or make use of the ample space? Even the Kia Sportage can recline. The Chery Tiggo 8 pro has amazing reclining features. The Toyota Fortuner and the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport as well. Wasted space Haval. Honestly! For a family car it should be 💯 effective during traveling.

By that I mean Haval has been around long enough to show some durability tests of time. For example we all know how VW can not make a switch anymore, window switches, locking switches pack up! And VW electronics is fraught with sensors that cause you by a whole new "thing" because the transducer isn't talking to the MicroP. and the replacement part is 4 times the equivalent spare.

From what I could tell from Jolion ownership, these engines are tuned very conservatively for the size/weight of the vehicle, hence the exceptionally poor fuel consumption. I drove my Jolion as conservatively as possible, and did not see under 10L/100km. Agree that the way that the DCT operates in traffic sucks.

Hi, I have a city and I'm averaging 7.2L per 100km. That's not driving conservatively but also not fast. Just normal driving. I'm just under 19000kms

Thanks for the informative and in-depth review on the H6 GT. I wonder what the result would if it goes head-to-head with the new KIA Sportage? I think that will be very interesting but I'll make sure to watch your review on the KIA.

The SUV is a GT...so why do you want it to be a Sports SUV? You want it to pretend? ...(SUV already stands for Sports Utility Vehicle✅).
    Stick to the topic.

Ciro, I have programmed Race Mode as a short cut button on the steering wheel. It's like a face melting overdrive. Exhaust sound in Race is real. Love mine.....have named her Galadriel. Level of attention this car gets is truly ridiculous. Regarding fuel USE agree....but at 14L per 100km you must be engaging Race mode ALOT....confess😆

interesting how different RUclipsr have different views about this new offering from the Great Wall. dont get me wrong, i like your review, very detailed and informative. One RUclipsr @Mzansipopularrides actually worshipped the car, @Muzisambo kicked it to the rubbish in his review, meanwhile @khathuoncars praised it (but exposed the hidden pipes) and You Ciro have provided a sort of neutral opinion on it. very confusing but interesting. here are the links to the video i am talking about

put the camera facing the street and not you, nobody wants to see you, but the car panel plus the street or what happens with the car moving, to show you take a picture, camera in front taking the street is the tip.

This car is for the persons that want that Macan, GLA or X4 lifestyle but dont have the bank account for it, fuel consumption included. Lets be real, if you get a sports coupe fuel economy is not your priority. Im not knocking it, just know what your getting into, plus this is one youd be most likely be able to convince your wife to approve.

One day you must drag race these Chinese cars against each other: H6 GT; normal H6; Chery Tiggo 8 etc. I drive a Tiggo 8 by the way and have had it for just over a year now and still enjoying it...

  • @colinhoward74

Clearly a car that started its life as a high end Land Rover product and got copied by the chinese, even the seats are a perfect visual replica of the said car from Land Rover , been tarted up to look a bit like the new L R offerings , of course if you dont really like LR , Haval has a big toyota for you with their own engine , its called the H9 and its based on the now defunct 200 series LC .

For me Haval lost the plot when they're SUV started becoming a tad pricier. Compare the price of an H6 at the beginning of the year or late last year to current pricing. The price is pulling a sneak attack and they more they do that the moment they loose the value for money status or proposition. Help it make sense when you start paying top rand for a fuel guzzler?! Anyway just my opinion. Have to say the GT6 is a stunner. I'm car shopping currently but none of the Chinese brands are on my list just from the perspective of the millage I do and how long I keep a car for. Guess with inflammation everything will go up. And we're expecting a interest rate hick again before the year is done and dusted. It's rough out here 😪.

To pay 500k more is next level intelligence lol, rather drop in a v6 in this car if you want speed, upgrade braking system and suspension torsion bars, still wont cost as much, and you'll kill the x4

For the sake of family purpose. i think i will stick with corolla cross hybrid. I'm glad you guys did a review on this car. i was curious about it and wanted more information about it. If I buy a sport car let it be a sport car and perform like a sport car. If a buy a family car let it be a family car, I already made peace knowing I won't be driving in the fast lane

The corolla cross is not in the H6's league (size and price), you must compare it to the Haval Jolion. :)
