- Taking a short break from 3.23 gameplay. I jumped on RUclips this morning to find this gem of a video. Somehow, player 'RingledMaple' managed to pilot the almighty Javalin in Star Citizen. I have no idea how they did it but how cool would it be to do this?!

I saw this video thanks to the algorithm, absolutely love how this looks. Reminds me of the set pieces in Halo Reach, like when you’d fight to get to one of the large ships, except in this video you’re driving that ship. Crazy what 15 years of gaming advancement does

Imagine being on planet and throwing a grenade, and a Javelin in orbit firing down like a Helldivers stratagem.
makes me sad that weapons have such short range in this game. Would love to do orbital bombardments with my javelin.

Right? Unfortunately CIG is heavy against any kind of out of eyesight combat so orbital bombardment probably won’t be a thing unless the community makes a big push for it :/

Apparently they used the 890 jump elevator while the 890 elevator exit was directly over the brigde of the Javellin, then clip thru it.
Note to self: To obtain a capital ship, obtain a different capital ship first 😂
@@emanuelruettimann Nomad used to work just as well, sometimes even a dragonfly could do it.
Ollie the bridge is forward for the cannonry to be have a higher FoC and because the guns would clip through the edge of the bridge.
Also we've gotten serveral warnings over the years about Javalins going in Atmo.... Mostly in the vein of "We haven't decided yet, you might be able to float but you might not be able to land and escape gravity again on certain planetary bodies."
And those are only the STS turrets firing. The thing is missing its broadside turrets on each side as well. Jav's a beast.

like a star destroyer coming down into atmo. awe inspiring. Terrifying. an exertion of a groups dominant power over any area they choose worth their time..

RUclips definetly has changed their algorithm the last few months.
I keep seeing a lot of super low view / subs videos on my recommended list.
From before, when you NEVER saw any new channels, and it over-prioritized your "viewing profile".
Now, you see lots of new stuff being fed to you randomly. Right now there's a couple 4 (FOUR) view videos in my right hand side.
Technically, lore never stated it can’t go into atmosphere. CIG has had two different trailers showing it flying in atmosphere. One in the Invictus trailer that starts in Area18, at 1:05-1:06. Another time in an ATV episode. People have asked CIG, & they always give a vague response. Essentially dodging the question. Yes that one crashed on Daymar. But again, they shown it flying in atmosphere themselves. They also have that Vanduul Driller trailer showing it flying above a planet/moon. The Driller is larger than a Bengal. It’d be weird that the Vanduul ships could do what Human ships can’t. No wonder we get beat downs.😋 In the end, time will tell. I bet we’ll learn the “truths” in SQ42. That said, I’m loving all the recent videos of “borrowed” Javelins. Which lead me to believe they are all stealing the same one? It’s always missing the lower four engines on the back winglets. It’s also missing it’s front engines & winglets too I think. Btw, people have stolen the javelin before in the past too. 🇺🇦🇭🇹🇵🇸
Unfortunately, it is directly stated in lore that the Javelin CANNOT go into atmosphere. Reference the lore of the crashed Javelin wreck on Daymar. The Javelin can go into atmospheres of low gravity moons and gas giants like Crusader but any regular planets with earth-like gravity cannot sustain the Javelin.

I once owned this ship. For a very short period of time. Before I cane to my senses and realized how many guns I could buy for that money :)
I have to tell you though. Javelin ownership, just the act of owning and having it, and knowing you do, even though you know it’s just a bunch of 1’s and 0’s on a hard drive somewhere…

there is a hangar video where it shows a redeemer inside i think he couldnt get gunners in the turrets the 2 quad s8s are remote from the bridege, in another video like some parts of the deck are missing so you have to be carful where you walk, i asked the guy how many railgun shots the javelin took he said about 15 and it didnt even phase the javelin lol

Oli now thirsting for his own Javelin, which won’t arrive for at least a year. And yeah, it’s capable of planetary entry, the wreck on Daymar was due to a major screw up

They need to give the players a real camera plug in. The quality of the fan making video would be X10
I just can't be doing with the off-centre bridge, lol. Personally, I would have either made it wider (with viewing wings like a modern ship) and central in front of the turret but able to sink into the hull for "battle mode", allowing the turret to move forward for full 360° fire. Or maybe have a secondary fire control/observation deck mirroring it on the other side, further back as you said, and again, able to sink into the deck for protection.
Not that it's a bad design. It will just always bother me when I'm looking at it haha
the javs visuals are bugged its missing like half the engines it should have 4 more in the back under the small ones u can see and 4 more in the front if u look to a photo u should see what im talking about ,oh and some turrets missing as well thats why its looking weird rn
That docking shows just how massive that ship is, and the docking platform ain't small either.
I can't believe that Star Citizen is actually starting to look like a game haha. I can't wait for the end of the year and how it will feel then.

it's sad the Javelin had 6 gun batteries removed (24 guns) and the main gun batteries were reduced by two weapon sizes. This change is across all of 3.23

@Ez0X_ watch any video featuring the Javelin in 3.23 and see that the 6 batteries (3 on each side) on the upper hull that fitted between the maneuvering engines are gone. Those were dual S7 and dual S4 combination turrets. And the main gun downsizing is confirmed on all the internal XML extractions from the game files

I got hit by a javelin while it was taking off, it was funny, but somehow didn't kill me.
"Do what you like and RUclips will find an audience for it.", that is actually pretty true. I used to do a Jewish Musicology series on my channel exploring the history of music from the Jewish community. They found an audience for me. Unfortunately at the same time I was being picked on for being mixed genetically by the Israeli government and New York Jewish community so I stopped the series as I had a break down over it. Like the last words from my family in a Yiddish letter who died in the Holocaust was about how the Nazis were racial purist who divided the Jewish community genetically. Sorry to have gotten heavy for a minute but it was the situation and why I stopped making videos and going to Synagogue. Anyway, the point is before all of that RUclips was really working to find me an audience and then I screwed it by ending the content they were promoting due to life and being bullied IRL.

I believe those lights are something with being on a test server. I know I have the hovering lights outside of my Taurus when I'm on EPTU.
In watching this... I'm almost asking myself if SC might not be forgiven for going into a "Slow Mo" mode when large ships crash. A mode where the ship is allowed time to come apart properly.
As time goes on this could be sped up as both client and server computers allow for real time graphics on that kind of scale.
They need to recreate the comimetic view like the start of Star Wars - A New Hope. ;-)

the weird lights on the front of the javeline look like theyre to show the pilot clearances for the small fins and outer engines
You can use any big elevator on a ship to glitch in
I also have flown one all it take's is locating a Javellin in my case it whas on Wala, and using a corsair's elevator to clip true and get into the interrior
I wouldn't say going all the way down to the surface, certainly not flippin' and dippin' and zooming all over the place, but I think on a moon with low gravity this is perfectly acceptable to think you could get close enough for the canons to fire at the ground
yeah piloting an idris, sure! but a Javelin?! damn.
Javelin should be able to handle being close to a no atmosphere/low gravity moon. Being that close to Clio doesn't seem that far fetched.

You can take it down to smaller moons, but you can't take it to planets, it crashes

i didnt even know till this day that the javelin has a hangar on each side that can fit a redeemer left and right
It's only got one hangar (on the port side).
When 3.23 goes live, and better when 3.23+ drops, we are closser to NPC Crew and AI Blades, thedevs have said it wont be long, and its on the ROADMAP, so not long now, i really wnat to SOLO my Javelin, Perseus and Polaris, will also make using the Mole easier with my NPC Crew, cant wait for my BMM also, fully crewed and a real bitch in Pyro. Coming soon i am told by the community
Is it just me or does the idris have waaaaaay too much maneuverability for a massive ship? How am I supposed to hit something that nimble with a size 10?
That Crash Proves THAT ALL SHIPS HAVE NO MASS and they don't (really) need it in a speed-based game.

lol yea that thing has no business in atmosphere... The only way is with some kind of anti gravity drive. But thrusters would crush any and everything under it including the ground and would be very very violent.
