I remember almost all of these. Was watching too much TV back then... "Enjoy all the overhyped, over commercialization of the Olympics with Conan." Was such a great late night show.
Remember that 90's movie Demolition Man where in the future they listen to commercials instead of music? Now here we are in the future watching old commercials on the internet.
This was the year I graduated from high school. It was so awesome watching these. I felt goose bumps for a second because it transported me back. Well done Dave!!
this is all from back when everyone thought our attention spans were getting ridiculously short, so everything was loud and aggressive and edited to look like a fever dream. that last nbc promo felt like the aural equivalent of staring into an LED headlight for 90 seconds.
@@artman2oo3 it was expensive. The sandwich required a special seasoning and Canadian bacon. That was the best bacon any fast food joint ever served. Do you remember the q machine for the buns? Before they started using toasters. The buns were much better then.
My step uncle drove a 96 Geo Prizm he bought new for well over a decade as his commuter car to work, and I don't recall it giving him very much trouble for a basic car. Well at least till a lady rear ended us with a Chevy tahoe in the Dollar General parking lot on Thanksgiving day in 09 when my aunt sent us out to the store for some last minute items. At least no one was hurt, and the insurance company totaled the car for double what it was really worth. BTW he now drives a 2010 model year Honda accord he bought with the money shortly afterwards.
8:53- Of course, "Nobody Beats The WIZ", as we knew it, no longer exists- it closed its last retail store in 2003. P.C. Richard & Son owns the rights to the name, though.
Some of these certainly are weird. Yeah, that tiny fifth pocket on a pair of jeans *might* somehow keep me from being murdered by a drug lord if his super hot wife/mistress hits on me, but 9 times out of 10 that thing is useless.
growing up I would keep a couple of quarters for the payphone if I ever needed it, along with my spare house key. As an adult, I can't remember the last time I've used it.
1996... This was about the time tv was transitioning from the party like, fun living era of the 1980s to the more straight up era of the 1990s... There was still some fun commercials at that time though... Internet was just taking off at this point... Dialup at that time... I believe AOL was the "worlds fastest, most reliable dialup internet" at that time... Internet Explorer was the main browser then... And Yahoo was the main email and webpage creator thing then... Cellphones were just really starting to go mainstream at this time... "Flip phones" were the big thing then... The videogame "console wars" were really starting to kick off around this time... DVD and CD had became the primary media source, cassettes were fading out about this time... This was the beginning of the digital era, or what I call the "dot com" era... It was about this time we was winding down our first conflict with Iraq (operation desert storm... 5 years later the Twin Towers would fall and we would wind up *BACK* in Iraq under the code name "operation shock and awe" redesignated to "operation Iraqi freedom")... Reno Nevada had it's biggest blizzard ever recorded in history on this year, several feet of snow with snowbanks as high as 8 to 12 feet high (2 years later in '98 Reno had it biggest flood in history, almost the entire city was under water)... But 1996 was still a pretty good year... My run of "Eighties" was winding down and I started to "grow up"... Anyway, I'm going to hop back into my time machine and go back somewhere in the past... Y'all take care and God bless...
I wouldn't call the Escape from NY 'bizarre', maybe a different start than your average commercial for an action adventure movie, but it finishes pretty run of the mill.
Thank you Dave, so cool to see, wish I could say again...(new to me though) Loved hearing Mason Adams again in a add, couldn't stand him in radio shows though.
I wish I could explain the reverb (wasn't like that when I sent it), but on the plus side, at least it'll help you get away with playing music on some of these.
I mindlessly watched the commercial at 6:55 and after a delayed reaction my brain started going again: "... wait, what? We didn't have podcasts in the 90s.. or streaming... wtf was that?"
Apologies for the 'reverb' effect on the audio. It was like that straight from the tape! Had to still share this gem despite that :)
My boyyyy davvvvveeee
It was awesome, so very in your face! ☺️
True dave.

I actually do remember that movie...
Ironic, isn't it...
Love these. Sometimes for split seconds I feel like I'm right back there in time. Such a trip lol.
Fifth pocket sounds like a synonym for prison wallet. That's where I store my valuables.

Glad you enjoyed it!
@@DavesArchives me too dave.

The house used in the Levi's commercial (0:53) is the same one used in the Godfather for the horse head scene.
really good quality for 96 ,hd rules
The arch deluxe with bacon and special seasoning was the best sandwich McDonald's ever made. I served em when I worked there in 95

Also true.
These kind of commercials were apart of the 90s charm honestly. Not bizarre at all 🤣. Thought i'd be weirded out lol

Dude I miss those commercials back in the 90s. Those were some wacky commercials that grew up. Thank you. Glad to remember those
Loved the Arch Deluxe and I enjoyed Escape from LA
I remember all of these I was 18 in 96 my Bulls went 72-10 and won the championship great times.
I love anything bizarre Dave 😄
Total video madness!!! Also Escape from LA was a god tier movie
I mean how can anyone hate a movie with Bruce Campbell as the surgeon general of Beverly Hills!?!
@@Humplick83 that's what I'm saying!! Also some legendary dialogue. THIS CITY CAN KILL ANYONEEEE
Hell yeah, gotta love a good Kurt Russell movie that includes Bruce Campbell hamming it up!!
Wow.

Yes.
I love my fifth pocket.
Such a mid 90's time capsule!
When you feel like 96 and then Dave’s snow screen abruptly comes on. Snap back to reality whoops there goes gravity……

A wacky era, appears to be trying to stretch itself free of the 80s, but not quite. LOL

Love these commercials. All about fun and best of all no wokeness messages; just the product.
Back when NBC actually had good shows to offer.
I miss OG Michelob.
11:22 Amy Smart 😍
In the current clown world we live in I would kill to be in this time period again. Life was so much more chill. Ugh.
I was in Marine Corps Corpsman Training in 1996.

this video has a perfect thumbnail.
Some say that; 'truth is that which never changes'. If this is true, the only honest commercials are shampoo and conditioner ads.
And the Jimmie Dean commercial... It aint hardly changed to this day...
The Escape from LA trailer... omg
WOW TRIPLE 4'S
WOW TRIPLE 4'S
Good.
EVIAN water BACKWARDS was NAIVE!!!!!!!!
That music at 8:55, what's that? It's very familiar (but a different version), anyone know?
Wonderful Dave, I miss Conan and babes in black bikinis poolside- thanks, bro!!!!!
Is there a live stream tomorrow Dave?
Indeed there is!
