Wow that ending was amazing and eye opening. Even back then they were able to recognize negative sides and effects of the internet. But clearly it also has it's positive and upsides. Like being able to time travel to simpler times before everything went haywire and Pandora's box was opened.
I wonder if that couple at the end are still together. If technology was putting a damper on their relationship imagine how it would be now. As always, great job Dave. Huge fan of your channel.
To Steven's defense at 13:09, she is concerned with his computer addiction... yet she sits there for hours watching television... at least Steven is improving his WPM! That's... productive... right...
I got very caught up in the last one and forgot that it was a Dave video! I wonder if those two kids made it? Doubtful, it was 1996, that guy had nowhere to go but deeper down the rabbit hole.
I never had the ball, not did anyone else I knew, but those PS1 demos I for sure remember as I had a few of those as my brother in law at the time had just gotten a PS1(my sister is 5 year older than me, and I was still in high school at the time so low on cash till my first job a couple of years later), and it was how we tested out some of the games we wanted to buy, or rent from the local Movie Gallery for it.
It's kind of scary how much in that first ad *IS* reality, now. Bruh, I saw that Subaru Outback ad sooo many times as a kid because it was one of the commercials on a tape that had Johnny Quest vs. The Cyber Insects recorded on it. We lost that, and several other tapes, a long time ago but I would've sent that one in because it a had a lot of ads you were only going to see in Hawaii. 8:40 - 9:07 Yeah, if only that were true. "Is there a dark side to the brave new world of PCs?" Oh, if they only knew the horrors the internet would create...
Man, this takes me back to being 10 years old, living in Hawaii. Makes me remember there was this Japanese soap opera that came on that my mom wound up watching regularly. I'm almost positive some episodes got recorded. Now that I think about it, we had a *bunch* of tapes that could've provided plenty of content for this channel.
6 to 8 hours on a computer a day? By today's standards that's totally normal. Most of us carry around a portable supercomputer everywhere and call people on it
One of your best in range and variety! Paul Hogan was huge, and now he is forgotten; that local Hayworth furniture ad was surprisingly futuristic; the last one was a doozy - and there's no going back! Thanks, Dave!
I love your videos and my favorite part is your intro I get such a great feeling when I hear it. I moved to Florida and the intro reminds me back when I first started watching your video in Connecticut. I pray u never change your intro or outro thanks for the memories and the old school video memories
1996 Reporters: psychologist's studys & research proves that internet addiction is becoming an alarming problem 2021: the entire world revolves around the internet..... And by the way who calls the internet cyberspace what is this 90's JK 😂👍
That first commercial was eerily close to today's standards. 1:38 I remember those old Subaru commercials with Crocodile Dundee. 5:19 I wonder if anyone ever won that Dodge Viper? lol 7:11 Those 5th gen Accords are still good looking and fun driving cars to this day. 8:10 Domino's deep dish pizzas are similar to the pan pizzas that are made today from what I've heard. 9:02 There are some girls out there that prefer the stupid boys, unfortunately. Ah, teenagers. Gotta love 'em lol Yeah, that last bit was a doozy. My parent didn't get the internet until 1997-1998. Very slow 56K modems back then. Can't pick up the landline phone or you'll be disconnected LOL
None whatsoever LoL!! We don't revolve our lives around it to shop, play video games, stream TV(both free, and paid services), make old school phone calls, video calls, txt, post on social media, ask questions to personal voice assistances, control the lights/HVAC units in our homes, use it for our jobs, use it so our kids can goto school from home, etc.. all day long. NOPE none of that whatsoever!!
Thank you Dave, @ 7:15, was that Mason Adams or the fake? I can't remember when the change happend. The end was a doozy, and very true, I will say, if she was my girl.. so much better on the interweb;) Love your work man!!!
That last one is so laughable in this day and age because I don't think there's a single person who isn't on the internet 24/7 because it's the only way to stay connected to current events.
AOL chatrooms: A/S?L?! *Making people's Windows startup music play* What was the price that shows up on the cash register when Maggie is scanned in the Simpson's Opening?
Be sure to watch the ending. It's a doozy! 😁
She did not know, women can game, too.
The more things change...well, you know the rest. 😉
The ending was eye opening and still absolutely relevant.
Lol, the future was foretold. Little did they know… this would become “normal”.
@@UrbanNoizeMusic yea my ex wife would relate!
Love how the first commercial showed "the future" in 2019! 🤣
Right?!

And pretty cool how close they got it too.
Eerie close...😮

I can't get enough of the 90's commercial! It's like having a time traveling machine lol Thanks Dave! 👏🏾
You bet!
Holy cow, the beginning tech commercials, and the ending, REALLY nailed the future down to a T! I know you had to have fun putting this one together!
Yup, was definitely fun doing this one. One of my favs so far.
@@DavesArchives yes.
Dang the first commercial was pretty close to predicting the future!
The wallet/ phone/ camera thing didn't look too different than iphones today.

Funny and sad at the same time that the "future" was two years ago! :)
The end sure was a doozy...imagine telling him in about 15 years you'd be caring that computer in you're pocket. 😆
