I remember getting a 32X when the price dropped drastically... we were poor, but my momma came through! I remember getting the 32X version of Night Trap and Corpse Killer.. I was a the weird kid that liked the FMV games, still do! I'm currently on act 2 revisiting Double Switch on the Sega Saturn.. using my Fenrir and I must say I actually am really enjoying it!
The Sega CD+SVP the platform would have had a nearly 2 year. Okay, advantage, the playstation, and 2.5 years on nintendo. Pushed to its limits, the tower of power could handle most of the playstation launch games.
Everyone found out that the Saturn and PlayStation had already been released in Japan. Worse, the more expensive Sega CD had just been abandoned after 3 million enthusiasts had run out and bought it. Developers couldn't deal with the changing confusing roadmap from SEFA, so everyone jumped onto the PlayStation.
@@tabsntoot JAGUAR and the 32X, two flops that goes hand in hand together. I was a clerk in a computer store at that time, I was selling this junk imagine that ! Yes I feel old ! lol
The graphics were very good for what it was trying to be, it was just an awkward transitional time and tech was evolving extremely fast. 1992 - 1995 was a great era for arcade games, but a lot of the games never came home or got overlooked because it was between console generations. The early 3D games and high-end 2D games were too advanced for the 16-Bit consoles in 1992, but were a little behind the times once the next generation was fully underway by 1995. Obviously 2 add-ons was too many, but maybe if Sega had just done one upgrade around 1993 that could do games like Virtua Fighter, DOOM, and arcade-accurate ports of the latest Sega, Capcom, and Midway arcade games, we'd see the whole thing in a very different light. Virtua Fighter, Virtua Racing, and Star Wars Arcade were all must-play games when they came out, and Genesis / Sega CD definitely couldn't handle them (SVP chip being its own complicated discussion). 32X has great versions of Space Harrier, After Burner, Mortal Kombat II, NBA Jam, etc. so I can't really hate it. Shame the execution was so bad, it could have been great.
This couldn't be any more 90s if it tried. Awesome!
1995 at that 😮
Super 90s!🤣
I like the guy who is all “yes I have a 32X AND I have a girlfriend!”
The 32X improved our relationship!
Men hate him! See how he does it with this one simple gaming peripheral!!
man, they were really out here showing the intensely gory Eternal Champions finisher animations right after the Magic School Bus, lmao
I still love my Sega Genesis and my Sega Game Gear
Totally rad
This is fire!
I was a Day One sucker… I mean buyer. Worked at a Blockbuster and would read IGN during my shift (we sold magazines too) and bought into the hype.
Consoles are nothing but hype
I forgot that they tried doing one last huge push for FMV games in 1995

"Sega of America under Tom Kalinske" pushed Live Action FMV games because they created the 32X.
@@apollosungod2819SoJ ordered SoA to bring this out in January 1994, replacing the already finished $50 SVP LockOn, which was just as capable.
I thought those Ghostwriter promos were a fever dream, I haven't seen those in almost 20 years...
30 years for me. This was the point where I dropped out of SEGA-- that changing confusing roadmap and abandoning millions of customers.
Well, isn't this a nice present for Christmas this year?
7:29 looks good
0:15 precursor to Chad Warden's ps triple 😂

Wow a 32X, a piece of junk that didn't even last a year with shitty games and shitty graphics. And yes I bought the dam thing in 1995, what a scam !
Doom was the best offering in my opinion same as for the jaguar

Everyone was waiting for the $50 SVP LockOn which could do 20,000 flat shaded polygons per second in March of 1994.
The ultimate 90s CRINGE !!! omg !
