As a Dream Team fan I just assumed as the amount of tutorials in the game it has and the dream world segments was a bit overused Imo dream team has the best ost in any mario and Luigi game HECK I have OVER 890hrs on the game on my 3DS (yes I love the game that much lol) Before I get side tracked but there are things in the game that slows the game down… otherwise I still have the urge to replay the game anytime even with co-op
A lot of people hate the pacing because there are too many tutorials and think the game is too long. I personally don’t find the tutorials to be as bad as people make them out to be and I actually kind of like the long length despite the game feeling a bit padded at times
Pros: The length of the game, hard mode, and it reminds me of Psychonauts Cons: Fire bros is nerfed, unskippable tutorials, and the updated grsphics makes it look like a typical 3D Mario game rather than having its own identity
It's because the 2D pixel cartoon graphics gave it It's own identity. Now with the updated graphics, Dream Team looks like a typical 3D Mario game :/ But I do like the gameplay, it feels like a cross between Bowser's Inside Story and Psychonauts. My only complaint would have to be the fact that fire bros is nerfed. Like you can't spam fireballs like before.
Dream teams biggest issue is that it has 2 hours of tutorials, followed by cookie cutter janky 3ds gameplay. Its the only game in the series I'll never replay.
Only thing I disagree with is what you said about dream team's soundtrack. That game's soundtrack could easily be argued as the best in the series. Never Let up, Wakeport, Driftwood Shore, Both the battle themes (Real and Dream World), and especially Antasma and Adventure's End are all absolutely incredible songs. And theres still more like Pi'illo Blimport, Your dream Adventure, Dozing Sands are all incredible.
oh yeah defiantly for me personally dream team and partners in time tie as the best OVERALL ost not based on singular pieces but rather the ost as a whole
@@HelloSayEm6 nah, it's just his nostalgia, Bis and Dt has a simmilar style of song, in his music rank he literaly said that he doesn't like the music for the better sound in 3ds
Here are some real reasons: -Poorly paced. (way too much filler, absurd amount of tutorials, 15 of the game's 40 frickin hours are literally nothing but this) -Lack of innovation. (it feels way too similar to BIS in many ways. Giant battles, a battle ring, nearly the same battle system; double jump, timed hammer, "EXCELLENT!" rating, medals, etc.) -The game abuses of gyro controls. (in regular battles they're unnecesary and in giant battles they're frustrating) -Some areas are generic. (Mushrise Park, Dozing Sands, Driftwood Shore...) -Dry humor. (it's not that funny) -Unlikeable characters. (Starlow returns for some reason and she's as annoying as ever. There's also the Zeekeeper and the Dream Stone's Spirit which are just jerks)
(first of all, i don't speak english) well, some of them are debatable about the lack of innovation i agree on giant battle, but for the rest i disagree, the game don't need to have an new battle system to be good, BIS just made the basic battle system for mario & luigi, and the point is the dream world battle system, that is original and good for me at least, PIT have the same battle system of SS when the player have only the Babies or Adults and i never seen anyone complain, and about the battle ring, it's just a way to make replay bosses possible, so why not? about gyro controls: i don't think that is a reason to say that a game is bad for that, the mario & luigi series always try to use things of the console in the games example: SS: use A and B PIT: use X and Y BIS: use the touch screen it's more an 3DS fault than a DT fault Like you said *SOME* areas are generics, thing that happen in every M&L game, like in PIT and BIS, PIT have desert, Snow, Castle, Grasslands, same with BIS, that have Beach, Cave, Grasslands, Castle, among others, Dt is more original than PJ (obviously), PIT and BIS (and have non original areas isn't always a bad thing) About being funny or not: It's personal, so it don't are a reason for a game be bad, like i don't think that the game isn't funny About unlikable charracters: Same as the last one (Except for starlow)
@@xffvfv1153the only thing i agree is on the pace tbh First off, the lack of innovación, i kinda get it on medals, BUT seriously, excellent ratings we're always a thingi the M&L series and, if it isn't broken, why would You change it/fix it?, the same for the battle system, just way better thanks to the new mechanics implemented for the enemies attacks, the bros attacks just feel way more powerful and with the new graphics they just look beautiful to watch along those backgrounds, giant battles Even tho i get it, same idea, they just are way better than BiS, medals? Maybee they are the same, but as said in giant battles, way better executed The abuse of gyro controls?...i mean...it only gets used in some Bros attacks and only in 2 giant fights...and Even then some of them are just really easy to pull off, maybe the giant battles have some problemas, but the Game tells You how to grab your 3ds and move it properly, it feels more like a nitpick more than a regular issue Generic áreas...are You serious? Maybe desert is the only one i could call generic, but all the other areas has a Lot of charm put into it with all the new npcs and some that come back from previous games which it's pretty amazing, and the music For these áreas it's also the Best things in the whole saga Humor? Well it depends honestly, i liked it imo UNLIKEABLE CHARACTERS? Seriously how many characters did You actually interact with? Starlow isn't Even a jerk here and sometimes You can relate to her, dreambert is an amazing new companion, antasma a great villain (altough kinda underused), the returning characters are also pretty charming as how they we're in previous games, the dream stone Even tho at first is a jerk, he totally redeems himself after the fight and Even Luigi owned his respect, which it's a really funny gag if You Saw some of the cutscenes after the giant battle, zeekeper being a jerk? C'mon he's pretty chill. And there's just more and more of likeable characters, the sea creatures, the massif brothers, some of the pillow people, the new block characters, it feels more like You skipped a Lot of dialogues trough the Game and just stood with some of them. Basically dream team did a Lot of things that BiS wanted to do BUT BETTER, You should totally Replay the Game now In actual detail, You may see a better surprise over it.
@@xffvfv1153gyro controls are in like 2 fights and 2 team attacks. Literally every Mario and Luigi game has similar rating systems and battle mechanics i don’t get that argument. I thought zeekeepers character was pretty funny and the rest were tolerable, but these are all subjective arguments on my part. Only thing i can agree on is the pacing and the tutorials (holy shit they’re long). The gyro controls make up an extremely small portion of the game and even then the gyro control sections of the fights (especially zeekeeper) are very easy. Everything else just seems very nitpicky. Forgot to mention the area design. I feel like the dream world aesthetic is very unique, especially in the giant battles. Obviously like every Mario and Luigi game there are some generic areas, but for the most part it felt refreshing at the time of release
I usually dictate how much I like a game by how much I feel like playing it years later. If I don’t have any ambition to replay it, then I can realise I don’t really like it that much and that goes for paper jam
One thing that's great about Superstar Saga and Dream Team is that the Mario and Luigi have their own set of Bros. Attacks, which helps to further distinguish the two. In Superstar Saga for instance Mario is the faster and stronger Bro, but his Bros. Attacks focus on dealing high damage to a single enemy, whereas Luigi is more defensively, but his Bros. attacks can deal damage against multiple or all enemies. So one strategy I came up with is investing in Mario's speed and Luigi's attack and giving Luigi pants, that allow him to move BEFORE Mario to one-shot enemies all at once. Plays like this aren't possible in Partners In Time or Bowser's Inside Story unfortunately as they both share the same set of Bros. Attacks, so it really doesn't matter, which of the two initiates the attack
I really like your comment. I've never played PIT, but one thing I like about Bowser's Inside Story's bros attacks is that, while the bros do share their bros attacks, the attacks have their own unique circumstances to be used in. One thing I'd like to add to what you said about Superstar Saga is that Luigi's attacks also provide other benefits like Luigi's thunder bros attacks. Paper Jam's attacks are also pretty fun to do. I like how only Mario has the shell attack instead of both bros having one.
Inside Story is literally my favourite video game in the whole world. I 100% complete the game about once a year and it’s the highlight of my year each time. Even started recording and posting my play through because it’s just so DAMN GOOD
I got Dream team for my eleventh birthday as a bonus to the special year of Luigi 3DS. I loved the game so much that I played all night. It is also one of the very few games I have ever replayed. The SSS and BIS remakes were awesome, but DT is one of my all-time favorite games.
This video is the definition of being stuck in Nostalgia I’ll give you Paper Jam but you shLtting on Dream Team is crazy. I mean I get why but you keep comparing music game to the others. And you keep calling everything “generic”. Seems you just keep ignoring what’s actually good about the game. Dream world protagonist antagonist replayability(yk stuff thats important to a TIER list)
Dream World sections: Fine, but they take too long. They should've cut like 5 hours of these. Protagonist: You mean... Mario & Luigi? Yeah, they're... in every game in the series. If you mean Dreambert, eh, he's alright, but I don't really care for him. Antagonist: Antasma is mid, he just has a cool design and a good boss fight. On the plot he just appears out of nowhere at the beginning, stays almost completely absent for the rest game, gets betrayed by Bowser near the end and dies. Replayability: It's literally the worst game to replay in the series. Over 5 hours of tutorials until you get into the actual game. If you mean by extra content, BIS and PJ have nearly the same. Here are some other reasons of why Dream Team belongs in 4th place: -Poorly paced.
@xffvfv1153 if that was the entire game then I'd hate it too, but you left out every single good thing in the game. You failed to mention that the dream worlds are usually bite sized and some are completely optional, the pillos are unique and interesting characters, they even brought back beanbean kingdom npcs like Popple for example. Also people hate on the 3d art for no reason, like I honestly don't see anything wrong with it, also dreambert is AWESOME. I do agree with starlow being annoying though.
@@thewanderingchelmet I won't deny it has some strong points. But the negatives I mentioned ruined my experience with the game. I get why some people love Dream Team, but for me, it's just better than Paper Jam and that's it.
In my opinion, PiT has the most intense story, but suffers from way too linear gameplay with next to nothing in terms of side content and low exploration of the DS’s capabilities (the amount of times the touch screen is used in the game is exactly ONE)
imo its story is great but the gameplay is trash, like seriously, the others are far superior in that they are less clunky and in the other games boss fights are challenging yet fun while in partners in time boss fights or even normal enemies in general are tedious and irritating at times
I would switch dream team with partners in time, that game was amazing to me and I really loved the environments and art style in and out of the dream world as well as the giant battles in the dream world.
3:55 I‘m sorry but what? On this part alone this video of yours falls apart for me. The music not being good is the craziest thing I have ever heard. I recently made a M&L Battle Music Tierlist with a friend and we both agreed that most of Dream Teams music ranked high, non fell under A Tier while other themes in the series fell all the way too D Tier for us.
Dream team is my favorite hands down. You can have your opinion but I feel like you didn’t give the game nearly enough credit. The music is INCREDIBLE, the gameplay is super fun, the areas are stunning and brimming with creativity. The only complaint I have is the dialogue at times being too long and unnecessary.
oml another dream team lover, idk what it is about the game but man i just love playing it. exploring the world, talking to the characters, getting into battles, it all just never gets old for me. i don’t even mind the long dialogue or the fetch quests since it’s a lot more story based, especially with the books you can find and read in wakeport that explain the pi'illo kingdom. it really shows that they cared a lot about the new world the bros were in and a lot of the flavor text they added shows that. genuinely the first rpg i actually enjoyed reading long bunches of text in.
adding on though, the only issue i have are that the minigames just aren’t it for me personally. so far im at the nommon ring bounce minigame in somnom woods and idk, im just not enjoying it that much. same with the mole hunt or any other minigame that i probably can’t remember.
i was so happy when i saw inside story. was my childhood game and it was amazing from what i remember. also great video, you remind me of nathaniel bandy! look forward to seeing more of your content
I remember back in the day when I was like 7 at the final boss fight, it was so hard I think I was like level 30-40 because I just brute forced my way thru the game without grinding. I stood up all night trying to beat and the music further motivated me to beat it. Even then I still didn’t beat it because I couldn’t mash fast enough but the next day I beat it the first time and I was so hyped it took me around 4 hours just to beat it in that attempt because of how weak I was( I also didn’t really know about stat boosting items so I never used any)
My list (will be controversial) Dream Team. (I hated the long tutorials tho but I LOVE the OST) Superstar Saga (No crazy gimmick just the start of an amazing series) Bowser's Inside Story (Loved to play as Bowser and stuff) Partners in Time (I never played but looked up a lot of playthroughs and let's plays and I still like because of the "Babies" Meme) Paper Jam Bros (I like Paper Mario but this is a flop and just not original at all but the OST is fine I guess.)
I know Paper Jam was quite generic with no unique characters, but together with Dream Team, it were the ones i grew up withh Dream Team is my favorite but I also really enjoyed Paper Jam as well with it's papercraft battles, fun music, still EPX unlike Sticker Star, and it's fun dashing around
Sure, to critics like you Partners in time may not be the best, maybe even objectively it may not be the best. But forever in my heart, Partners in time will be my favourite MARIO game of all time. PERIOD. Nothing can change that.
I can respect that. Partners in time is easily the darkest mario game, and has my favorite atmosphere out of any mario game. Personally, I put it in 3rd, followed by bowser's inside story at a close 2nd (for nostalgic reasons), and at #1 by a mile is super paper mario. That game is the one that will live forever in my heart. Sometimes I wish I could erase my memory and replay all 3 games completely blind because they're all the greatest gaming experiences I've ever had.
If i remember correctly according to chuggaaconroy he said the bosses in partners in time had more health in the US release versus the rest of the world
ngl i think he easiest is bowser inside story the best example is the final boss, when i beat when i was a kid i was like thats it? it just finished suddenly due to how easy it was, a far cry from the final boss of partners in time and superstar saga, when i finished those two fights i had to put the console down and reflect on my life a bit (i was 9 lol), like it felt like such an achievement because the bosses were scary and menacing and also very hard but overall i dont think a singular game in the series is that hard, if youre like me and fight everysingle enemy or like 70% of them, the game is gonna be a total cake walk, if you dont do that and instead fight like 50% max and only increase Hp like how my dumb old self did then this games can become brutal, partners in time in particular i remember being very hard with this setup, bowser inside story too, i had to grind to continue lol what i want to say is that there is no need to comment on the difficulty of these games because it has so many external factors that can affect, what i would do personally if i was on the design team is increasing the hp of the boss depending on which level your on but not by so much that it becomes meaningless to level up, also he will throw new attacks at you and they will be more complex and deal more damage the more you level up, basic enemies are affected by this but to a lesser degree so that grinders can still enjoy the grind lol
6:10 As someone who grew up playing dream team, it also has hard mode which is like an extra fun challenge if you finish. But coming back to the game in 2021, the pacing is really slow, (when I played the game as a kid I had 70 hours 💀) I beat the game in like a 1/3 of the time but still. It’s so slow and especially playing hard mode, it’s so slow to get to the boss fights
Partners in time is my first game in the series. And it's hard I couldn't beat the shroob that holding the lollipop or the elder princess shroob after I replayed it💔
This is crazy. We have the exact same opinions on these games. I'm not exaggerating here, I agree with every single thing said here. This has never happened before.
@@PlushieMaster I know, but I am not talking just about the list. Every single little comment he makes I agree with, either about music, graphics, gameplay and in general personal opinion stuff.
I have personally never played partners in time, but I do have it on my wii u and I’m waiting until I can finally go through my backlog to play it 😭 otherwise, I 100% agree with the list and this is all where I’d prolly rank them
I would swap partners in time and superstar saga, but I can accept that people have reasons not to. I wholeheartedly agree with the rest of the rankings though, especially bowser's inside story being #1.
All of the games would be my #1. If I have to list them, it would be 1) Dream Team, 2) Bowser’s Inside Story, 3) Paper Jam, 4) Partners in Time, 5) Superstar Saga
Dream Team is goated, so much overhate. And even if Paper Jam was bland, it was a really good game. Story was the only problem, everything else was epic gameplay
True, however the first 3 games are just that much better. All of the games are incredible though, in fact I'd say that paper jam gets too much hate for simply being at the bottom.
Here's my list: 1. Partners in Time 2. Bowser's Inside Story 3. Superstar Saga 4. Paper Jam 5. Dream Team But at the end of the day, all the games are good.
6:50 I’m sorry to interrupt, when I was a kid I skipped all the fights and went straight to bosses, you don’t understand how hard the game got, level DOES matter. Yeah I was a kid so maybe it was partially a skill issue but my baby brain couldn’t understand the importance of actually getting EXP to go forward
Dream Team with the fast forward button would probably be my favorite. But as it stands. 5. Partners in Time 4. Paper Jam 3. Bowser’s Inside Story 2. Dream Team 1. Superstar Saga
There’s also one thing I really hate about Dream Team Bros: They force you to use Motion Controls for every little shit!! It sucks, how am I supposed to play if I am in the car?
It works really well for the Bros. Attacks imo and it's only a select few attacks that use motion control. Though the motion control sections of the Giant Luigi battles can be really frustrating I admit
I mean the game dose not make you use motion controls for EVERYTHING, but some of the Luiginary attacks do use them. I can understand your frustration with having to deal with the 3DS gyro going crazy while in a moving vehicle.
But hey! At least it's better than blowing on an unresponsive microphone that is required for needing perfect timing on a certain Giant Boss named Fawful Express.
Bowser Inside story was my first Mario and Luigi game i ever play. With Brothership on its way, it makes me to replay Bowser Inside with a new point of view and hopefully play other Mario and Luigi games and do my own ranking. The ones i won't see myself playing are the remake, as i found the graphics to be terrible, with the exception of Dream Team and Paper Jam as they are their own games.
Honestly I don’t think there is a bad entry in the series! Sure paper jam might not be as good as the others but I still enjoyed it! Bowsers inside story tho is a stand out masterpiece and is one of my favorite games of all time! Love that game so much
Reasons why superstar saga its the best The plot The huge amount of secret areas and free overworld to explore THE BROS MOVES FR HOLY SHIT good minigames Mario and Luigi having a bible lenth of diferent sprites compared to the other games in series
1. The plot or concept isn't very noteworthy. Partners in time and bowser's inside story beat it in terms of plot. 2. Finding secret areas is fun but doesn't contribute to the game as a whole unless it solely revolves around exploration. The other games have their fair share of 3. The bros moves are silly and iconic but awfully simple and the following games perfected the system. 4. I'll give you that one. The minigames are pretty cool and unique. 5. That literally doesn't matter at all. I might as well say that superstar saga is the worst in the series for having the objectively worst graphics.
@@paulblart7378 dude even so you have to agree bros moves are superior to item bros, partners in time is the perfect example of why item bros is far more boring to use than using bros moves
@@paulblart7378 partners in time and bowser inside history have very vague an general plot, first one is that mushroom aliens invades mushroom kingdom with no backstory or development on who are those characters, bowser inside history tries to bring fawful from superstar saga and some bits of schrooms but anything else has zero background, which is the complete opositte of super star saga
I respect your opinion but I CAN NOT believe you put dream team in fourth, it is my favorite out of all of the games. The music is consistently amazing ESPECIALLY the main battle theme being my favorite in the entire series. Although I’m not one to argue because I prefer partners in time over bowsers inside story which I’m aware is an unpopular opinion.
One, this ranking is based on his opinion, so it's not "bad", two, I still slightly prefer PIT and BIS music more. Learn to respect others opinions plz!
@andrewvanover9747 One I won't go back and forth with an anime pfp, and second, it doesn't matter if it his opinion, Dream Team music is, if not, the best out the series.
Paper Jam needed Paper Luigi and it should've had a multiverse concept, kinda like Spiderman's. Like imagine going through a dimension portal to the first Super Mario Bros and fighting 8 bit enemies.
Dude, I think your reason for disliking Dream Team are fairly under-baked Art and Music I think Dream Team has the best art and music in the series. Whether you like or dislike it is very subjective so I don’t think it belongs as a flaw against the game Overworld Combat You dislike Dream Team’s overworld combat for being basic but don’t dislike Superstar Saga for such? Of course there can be reasons for that but you provide none Both Combat Styles Not Being Combined This one is kind of just nitpicky honestly. BIS combat remains un-combined for roughly 90% of the game’s runtime, it only comes into play to have the bros kill one enemy during a bowser boss, be 50/50 for a boss or two or be the final boss which is admittedly a really cool use case. I don’t think not having this feature in Dream Team should be a knock against it cause the feature is not very important in BIS to begin with. Also Dream Team has a final boss for both the real and dream world, sure seeing both combined would be cool but is ultimately not necessary as both have a final test. Generic Areas I can agree with you that Dream Team’s area are somewhat more generic than the previous titles but they are definitely far from actually being generic like Paper Jam. Here’s some area descriptions that I think will help prove my point. Teehee Valley: A desert valley where you must escort Princess Peach while performing platforming challenges. Dozing Sands: A desert dig site that is under construction for tourism where you must use a drill platform to get around. Dupe Dupe Dunes: A desert that you just pass through to get to other areas. See how the Dream Team example sounds nothing like the generic game and sounds a whole lot more like the not-so generic game? Sure Dream Team uses some more typical Mario enemies but that’s completely ignoring all the unique ones the game has and the fact that the reused enemy ideas are still really good and interesting when it comes to attacks and gimmicks. Having just a few generic enemy ideas isn’t bad within itself but is terrible/ruins the Mario&Luigi charm when overdone (like Paper Jam)
My list from worst to best: Partners in Time, it has a great story but imo the gameplay suffers from being clunky and tedious at best. Paper Jam, I loved the game but it is too bland in comparison to the other ones Superstar Saga, great story and good gameplay, but I find the others to be more fun Bowser's Inside Story, great game, creative, the gameplay rocks, the story flows nicely, notable OST Dream Team, best OST, good story, great gameplay, fun and unique concepts, W game
Your argument about dream team is absolutely laughable. Or the lack thereof. All you complain about is how change = bad. Yeah, kinda disgusting buddy. Give us better reasoning than that. And no, don’t say tutorials, because that’s all you haters can come up with when trying to actually criticize this game.
Whenever they say "areas are generic" I say no they are not look at paper jam Is plain and generic, it's just the mushroom Kingdom as one would imagine it, no twists or quirks or anything Not only dream team Bros has their own separate Island just like how Superstar saga did, but all of the areas have their own gimmicks that you need to understand to go through them, now if they criticize that the gimmicks are boring that's a point that they can make but not that they are generic because they have gimmicks and style already
My ranking (MY OPINION SO SHUT UP) 5. Paper Jam, Having a New character on our Duos to Trios is good but cmon the main thing that I hate is that some Bros Attacks are the same as Dream Team. 4. Superstar Saga, For the First Mario and Luigi game it did serve justice to me, Having a Wide variety of moves is amazing even if the Bros attacks can Advance is even more amazing but the 1 flaw is that I could never do good in the Bros attacks and I have to settle for the Weak tutorial version -_-. 3. Partners in Time, People gon hate me but This my opinion so RESPECT IT anyways for me the bosses are very good but the baby versions annoy me for some reason like some bros Attacks feature the babies too and it makes my brain hurt to see if its Baby Mario or Baby Luigi so yeah 2. Dream Team, This is my most Favorite Mario and Luigi game but I'm not Biased ok this game brought back the Giant bosses and the Bros Attacks are incredible even the Luiginary attacks are even more incredible but like people say the gimmick just doesn't really wow them but it still does wow me tho I'm not gonna lie 1. Bowser's Inside Story, WERE PLAYING AS BOWSER? LETS GOOOOOO, Bowser being a Crucial Character to us is amazing even tho he also fights us twice in the game but Bowser's Story throughout the game is amazing but for me the best part are the Bros Attacks like IT'S SO OP LIKE SHY GUY SQUAD, MAGIKOOPA MOB, BROGGY BONKER, MAGIC WINDOW, FALLING STAR OMG That's why for me I put it in Number 1
Everyone’s loves bowsers inside story, and honestly that makes me like it less, like oh my god I went into this video knowing bowsers inside story would be number 1 😭
I always thought the rankings were obvious. From least good (because even Paper Jam is still a good game) to best it's: Paper Jam Partners in Time Dream Team Superstar Saga Bowsers inside story. If we're including remakes it's: Paper Jam Bowsers Inside Story remake Partners in Time Dream Team Superstar Saga Superstar Saga remake Bowsers inside story
Never understand why dream team is so hated, almost every 3ds Mario game is overhated
As a Dream Team fan I just assumed as the amount of tutorials in the game it has and the dream world segments was a bit overused

@@masahirosakurai2042 lame reason
A lot of people hate the pacing because there are too many tutorials and think the game is too long. I personally don’t find the tutorials to be as bad as people make them out to be and I actually kind of like the long length despite the game feeling a bit padded at times
Pros: The length of the game, hard mode, and it reminds me of Psychonauts
Cons: Fire bros is nerfed, unskippable tutorials, and the updated grsphics makes it look like a typical 3D Mario game rather than having its own identity
Everyone defending dream team makes me so happy its so good
The dream team critism just sounds Like "I don't like change". Like the Soundtrack is the Most consistently amazing out of the whole series.
It's because the 2D pixel cartoon graphics gave it It's own identity. Now with the updated graphics, Dream Team looks like a typical 3D Mario game :/
But I do like the gameplay, it feels like a cross between Bowser's Inside Story and Psychonauts.
My only complaint would have to be the fact that fire bros is nerfed. Like you can't spam fireballs like before.

@vladi3862 Yes I hate how they did the fire flower dirty
Only thing I disagree with is what you said about dream team's soundtrack. That game's soundtrack could easily be argued as the best in the series. Never Let up, Wakeport, Driftwood Shore, Both the battle themes (Real and Dream World), and especially Antasma and Adventure's End are all absolutely incredible songs. And theres still more like Pi'illo Blimport, Your dream Adventure, Dozing Sands are all incredible.

these are the most stupid arguments to rank dream team that low i've ever heard. it's not like the original 3, that's literally all you say
Real
Here are some real reasons:
-Poorly paced. (way too much filler, absurd amount of tutorials, 15 of the game's 40 frickin hours are literally nothing but this)
-Lack of innovation. (it feels way too similar to BIS in many ways. Giant battles, a battle ring, nearly the same battle system; double jump, timed hammer, "EXCELLENT!" rating, medals, etc.)
-The game abuses of gyro controls. (in regular battles they're unnecesary and in giant battles they're frustrating)
-Some areas are generic. (Mushrise Park, Dozing Sands, Driftwood Shore...)
-Dry humor. (it's not that funny)
-Unlikeable characters. (Starlow returns for some reason and she's as annoying as ever. There's also the Zeekeeper and the Dream Stone's Spirit which are just jerks)
(first of all, i don't speak english)
well, some of them are debatable
about the lack of innovation i agree on giant battle, but for the rest i disagree, the game don't need to have an new battle system to be good, BIS just made the basic battle system for mario & luigi, and the point is the dream world battle system, that is original and good for me at least, PIT have the same battle system of SS when the player have only the Babies or Adults and i never seen anyone complain, and about the battle ring, it's just a way to make replay bosses possible, so why not?
about gyro controls: i don't think that is a reason to say that a game is bad for that, the mario & luigi series always try to use things of the console in the games
example:
SS: use A and B
PIT: use X and Y
BIS: use the touch screen
it's more an 3DS fault than a DT fault
Like you said *SOME* areas are generics, thing that happen in every M&L game, like in PIT and BIS, PIT have desert, Snow, Castle, Grasslands, same with BIS, that have Beach, Cave, Grasslands, Castle, among others, Dt is more original than PJ (obviously), PIT and BIS (and have non original areas isn't always a bad thing)
About being funny or not: It's personal, so it don't are a reason for a game be bad, like i don't think that the game isn't funny
About unlikable charracters: Same as the last one (Except for starlow)
@@xffvfv1153the only thing i agree is on the pace tbh
First off, the lack of innovación, i kinda get it on medals, BUT seriously, excellent ratings we're always a thingi the M&L series and, if it isn't broken, why would You change it/fix it?, the same for the battle system, just way better thanks to the new mechanics implemented for the enemies attacks, the bros attacks just feel way more powerful and with the new graphics they just look beautiful to watch along those backgrounds, giant battles Even tho i get it, same idea, they just are way better than BiS, medals? Maybee they are the same, but as said in giant battles, way better executed
The abuse of gyro controls?...i mean...it only gets used in some Bros attacks and only in 2 giant fights...and Even then some of them are just really easy to pull off, maybe the giant battles have some problemas, but the Game tells You how to grab your 3ds and move it properly, it feels more like a nitpick more than a regular issue
Generic áreas...are You serious? Maybe desert is the only one i could call generic, but all the other areas has a Lot of charm put into it with all the new npcs and some that come back from previous games which it's pretty amazing, and the music For these áreas it's also the Best things in the whole saga
Humor? Well it depends honestly, i liked it imo
UNLIKEABLE CHARACTERS?
Imo there's not a single bad Mario and Luigi game
All of them are good, even Paper Jam was fun
pfp checks out🤣
Ngl but the trio moves in paper Jam are soooo Fun to use especially shuriken AND meteor
I usually dictate how much I like a game by how much I feel like playing it years later. If I don’t have any ambition to replay it, then I can realise I don’t really like it that much and that goes for paper jam
@@Darkwhite12-xj7uuYou use trio meteor!!?!?!
Hot take:paper jams bros moves are the best in the series mixing new with old
I really like your comment.
Dream Team was my first mario and luigi game
I loved it
why do other people hate it besides the freaking tutorial
The PiT hate in these comments is killing me.
PiT is so goated fr fr

Inside Story is literally my favourite video game in the whole world. I 100% complete the game about once a year and it’s the highlight of my year each time. Even started recording and posting my play through because it’s just so DAMN GOOD
I love Dream Team’s soundtrack. I hear that complaint from time to time and i dont really get it
I got Dream team for my eleventh birthday as a bonus to the special year of Luigi 3DS. I loved the game so much that I played all night. It is also one of the very few games I have ever replayed. The SSS and BIS remakes were awesome, but DT is one of my all-time favorite games.
i personally just find the originals more charming than the remakes.
@@funnysillycat2355 To each their own.
@bivcbmtgstgtssscqcrddgtrsm2257 I played the BIS remake and it wasn't terrible. Just felt like the same game with a new coat of paint
Dream world protagonist antagonist replayability(yk stuff thats important to a TIER list)
he also ignores the fact that bowsers inside story barely has any new characters other than fawful, starlow, midbus etc
Here are some other reasons of why Dream Team belongs in 4th place:
@xffvfv1153 I understand, I love dream team but the first three are absolutely untoppable
partners in time is easily better than superstar saga imo
Umm why isn't Partners in Time number 1? Game clears all the others easily
In my opinion, Superstar Saga and Bowser’s Inside Story are far better games
In my opinion, PiT has the most intense story, but suffers from way too linear gameplay with next to nothing in terms of side content and low exploration of the DS’s capabilities (the amount of times the touch screen is used in the game is exactly ONE)
imo its story is great but the gameplay is trash, like seriously, the others are far superior in that they are less clunky and in the other games boss fights are challenging yet fun while in partners in time boss fights or even normal enemies in general are tedious and irritating at times
Unpopular take, superstar saga is the worst in the entire series@@JGr2000

Personally, Partners in Time is my absolute fave.

The music is INCREDIBLE, the gameplay is super fun, the areas are stunning and brimming with creativity. The only complaint I have is the dialogue at times being too long and unnecessary.
Bro everyone that stupid prince pillow came on screen I was like SHUT THE FUCK UP
oml another dream team lover, idk what it is about the game but man i just love playing it. exploring the world, talking to the characters, getting into battles, it all just never gets old for me. i don’t even mind the long dialogue or the fetch quests since it’s a lot more story based, especially with the books you can find and read in wakeport that explain the pi'illo kingdom. it really shows that they cared a lot about the new world the bros were in and a lot of the flavor text they added shows that. genuinely the first rpg i actually enjoyed reading long bunches of text in.
adding on though, the only issue i have are that the minigames just aren’t it for me personally. so far im at the nommon ring bounce minigame in somnom woods and idk, im just not enjoying it that much. same with the mole hunt or any other minigame that i probably can’t remember.

Probably the first time I’ve seen someone rank my exact same order. Nice ranking!
I remember back in the day when I was like 7 at the final boss fight, it was so hard I think I was like level 30-40 because I just brute forced my way thru the game without grinding. I stood up all night trying to beat and the music further motivated me to beat it. Even then I still didn’t beat it because I couldn’t mash fast enough but the next day I beat it the first time and I was so hyped it took me around 4 hours just to beat it in that attempt because of how weak I was( I also didn’t really know about stat boosting items so I never used any)
My ranking of all games,Dream team, paper jam, superstar saga,Bowser’s inside story, and partners in time
Why is partners in time so hated???
My list (will be controversial)
Dream Team. (I hated the long tutorials tho but I LOVE the OST)
Superstar Saga (No crazy gimmick just the start of an amazing series)
Bowser's Inside Story (Loved to play as Bowser and stuff)
Partners in Time (I never played but looked up a lot of playthroughs and let's plays and I still like because of the "Babies" Meme)
Paper Jam Bros (I like Paper Mario but this is a flop and just not original at all but the OST is fine I guess.)
I agree that Dream Team has a great OST. In fact I would say that its the best OST in the entire series.
I realise now that i've played every mario and luigi game except fo partners in time and dream team
I never thought of what you said of Dream Team, and you are right, if that game had boss battles with both fight mechanics it would be my favorite
I know Paper Jam was quite generic with no unique characters, but together with Dream Team, it were the ones i grew up withh
Dream Team is my favorite but I also really enjoyed Paper Jam as well with it's papercraft battles, fun music, still EPX unlike Sticker Star, and it's fun dashing around
Bro forgot about having 3 final bosses in Dream Team
My list from worst to best would be PJ, SS, DT, BiS, PiT. All games are at least ok, but partners in time will always have the softest spot in me
I 100% agree with you on this list Mario and Luigi bowsers inside story is one of my favorite Nintendo games
If i remember correctly according to chuggaaconroy he said the bosses in partners in time had more health in the US release versus the rest of the world
Dream Team just reminds me of going on vacation with my whole family on my mom’s side and the same on my dad’s side
1) Bowser's inside story
2) Partners in time
3) Superstar saga
4) Dream team
5) Paper jam
The best ranking
Paper jam is more fun to play than ff7 and even pokemon. Those are the 2 most well known rpgs, so that speaks volumes about this series.
Partners in time my beloved. The most unique and dark in my opinion. My favorite of all 5.
for me partners in time is a very close 2nd behind bowsers inside story, thought I liked its atmosphere more
ngl i think he easiest is bowser inside story
the best example is the final boss, when i beat when i was a kid i was like thats it? it just finished suddenly due to how easy it was, a far cry from the final boss of partners in time and superstar saga, when i finished those two fights i had to put the console down and reflect on my life a bit (i was 9 lol), like it felt like such an achievement because the bosses were scary and menacing and also very hard
but overall i dont think a singular game in the series is that hard, if youre like me and fight everysingle enemy or like 70% of them, the game is gonna be a total cake walk, if you dont do that and instead fight like 50% max and only increase Hp like how my dumb old self did then this games can become brutal, partners in time in particular i remember being very hard with this setup, bowser inside story too, i had to grind to continue lol
what i want to say is that there is no need to comment on the difficulty of these games because it has so many external factors that can affect, what i would do personally if i was on the design team is increasing the hp of the boss depending on which level your on but not by so much that it becomes meaningless to level up, also he will throw new attacks at you and they will be more complex and deal more damage the more you level up, basic enemies are affected by this but to a lesser degree so that grinders can still enjoy the grind lol
6:10 As someone who grew up playing dream team, it also has hard mode which is like an extra fun challenge if you finish. But coming back to the game in 2021, the pacing is really slow, (when I played the game as a kid I had 70 hours 💀)
I beat the game in like a 1/3 of the time but still. It’s so slow and especially playing hard mode, it’s so slow to get to the boss fights
Dream team being that far down is a crime
No it's not. I loved playing all the games, but dream team and paper jam are dogshit compared to the original trilogy

Goated list! Dream Team is always so overrated and Partners in Time is always so underrated. Glad you put them in spots they deserve!
There’s also one thing I really hate about Dream Team Bros:
They force you to use Motion Controls for every little shit!! It sucks, how am I supposed to play if I am in the car?
It works really well for the Bros. Attacks imo and it's only a select few attacks that use motion control. Though the motion control sections of the Giant Luigi battles can be really frustrating I admit
I love the soundtrack...
@@solidzack not really… the best Bros attacks are forcing you to use motion controls and imagine being on a long ride and just wanting to play DTB

Love that game so much
Reasons why superstar saga its the best
The plot
The huge amount of secret areas and free overworld to explore
THE BROS MOVES FR HOLY SHIT
good minigames
Mario and Luigi having a bible lenth of diferent sprites compared to the other games in series
1. The plot or concept isn't very noteworthy. Partners in time and bowser's inside story beat it in terms of plot.
2. Finding secret areas is fun but doesn't contribute to the game as a whole unless it solely revolves around exploration. The other games have their fair share of

Now I want it and I don't have it
BOWSER’S INSIDE STORY MENTIONED RAHHHHHHHHHHH
Good Vid but I feel like This is the most common lost in the Mario community
Dude, I think your reason for disliking Dream Team are fairly under-baked
Art and Music
I think Dream Team has the best art and music in the series. Whether you like or dislike it is very subjective so I don’t think it belongs as a flaw against the game
Overworld Combat
You dislike Dream Team’s overworld combat for being basic but don’t dislike Superstar Saga for such? Of course there can be reasons for that but you provide none
Both Combat Styles Not Being Combined
This one is kind of just nitpicky honestly.
Generic Areas
I can agree with you that Dream Team’s area are somewhat more generic than the previous titles but they are definitely far from actually being generic like Paper Jam.
Your comment is so useful I will not need to comment myself, well done
What? Dream Team areas are more creative than the other 3 games combined. Bowser Inside Stoey have the most generic areas if we didn't count Paper Jam

Not only dream team Bros has their own separate Island just like how Superstar saga did, but all of the areas have their own gimmicks that you need to understand to go through them, now if they criticize that the gimmicks are boring that's a point that they can make but not that they are generic because they have gimmicks and style already
My ranking (MY OPINION SO SHUT UP)
3. Partners in Time, People gon hate me but This my opinion so RESPECT IT anyways for me the bosses are very good but the baby versions annoy me for some reason like some bros Attacks feature the babies too and it makes my brain hurt to see if its Baby Mario or Baby Luigi so yeah
2. Dream Team, This is my most Favorite Mario and Luigi game but I'm not Biased ok this game brought back the Giant bosses and the Bros Attacks are incredible even the Luiginary attacks are even more incredible but like people say the gimmick just doesn't really wow them but it still does wow me tho I'm not gonna lie
I think Brothership will be at worst better than Paper Jam and Dream Team, and at best it will be the Best Mario and Luigi game
bowsers inside story is my favorite and by the far the best in the series
Everyone’s loves bowsers inside story, and honestly that makes me like it less, like oh my god I went into this video knowing bowsers inside story would be number 1 😭
Yeah because it's the best, lol. Disliking an amazing game because it's always given the praise it deserves is not a valid argument.
I always thought the rankings were obvious. From least good (because even Paper Jam is still a good game) to best it's:
Paper Jam
Partners in Time
Dream Team
Superstar Saga
Bowsers inside story.
If we're including remakes it's:
Paper Jam
Bowsers Inside Story remake
Partners in Time
Dream Team
Superstar Saga
Superstar Saga remake
Bowsers inside story
