- I haven't been able to stop thinking about Mario & Luigi since Brothership got announced so I'm hoping this video will clear my system out until further notice!

Bowser should use magic more often. Kamek is Bowser's adoptive father so it makes sense that he is a master of magic
The first game even referred to Bowser as a "dark sorcerer"!
It even directly states that Bowser was directly responsible for all the toads being turned into blocks!
He does in Odyssey and Galaxy during his boss fights.
Additionally, if one considers the paper mario bowsers to have the same abilities as regular bowser, then he'salso poisonous

Something fun to learn about the Brothership Bros. Attacks is that even if they have similar moves (Mario has red shell and Luigi has green) the actual function of the move is different! The Japanese website goes into detail about them and it’s revealed that Mario’s will be heavy single-target damage while Luigi’s is an AOE attack. This has me really excited to see what they do for other bros moves later in the game
Maybe Luigi gets the ice flower and Mario gets the fire flower
This was the case in Dream Team as well (and maybe Paper Jam but I can't recall)! I don't think the game ever drew attention to it though; you had to notice when selecting which enemy to target that you could do so for Mario but not Luigi.
So its like the shells in Dream Team.
The green shell from Luigi targeted random and the red shell from Mario let you select a target and it would only move to the next one if the selected on was defeated

Now I wanna play Paper Jam solely because of how awesome the special attacks are, it's the last one I need to play before Brothership anyways
Apparently later on it has a really cool card mechanic that brings a bunch of depth to the combat
Honestly makes me wanna play it just so I can see why peeps praise the combat of Paper Jam so much

The story is crap but the gameplay is the best in the series in my opinion.
The gameplay is great but everything else is mediocre to awful. If you’re willing to put up with dumb filler to get to the good stuff, I think you’d enjoy it.
I played through the entire game, and i really think u should check it out! (my personal favorite attack is cannonball chuck)
The funny thing was that cannonballer was I think the first bros attack shown off in the American commercial when they launched the baby’s out of cannons, i miss cursed and weird Nintendo commercials

The original Mario and Luigi commerical where they play that timely melody as they show the bros growing up fighting each other, only to end up being buddies in the end was always a tearjerker. Just something so nostalgic about it.
25:59 one thing to add about luigianary Typhoon 🌀 is that I believe you can also catch Mario in it to by accident or intentionally he doesn’t take any damaged but he makes a funny sound effect and keeps on cheering after he gets back up on his feet always for that was funny and sweet that not even getting hit by a massive typhoon of Luigi’s will make Mario angry at his bro

I used the Spin pipe to wreck dark star cores glasses, the snack basket for his legs, and the magic window for his antenna
Paper Jam’s attacks will be why I will always love the game even though I understand why most people don’t. They are both difficult to do consistently meaning you have to focus a lot but very satisfying to do.
My favorite part of that game is easily the combat, but I gave up about halfway through due to how boring everything else is.
A lot of the hate came from the unnecessary Sticker Star hate, where a group of people decided that anything that wasn't TTYD was the worst thing ever, somehow making the Paper Mario fanbase extremely toxic. It's really a shame cause the games were fine and this one as well, but having been a Sonic fan for years, you get used to the loudest members of the fanbase not actually being fans of the series they're griping about, just trolls looking for targets or something to complain about AVGN style.
@@MarioMastar in some ways I agree however when most people see your series’ main appeal as “interesting locations and characters” and the game doesn’t have that, then most people will be disappointed.
I love how kirby star allies looked at mighty meteor from mario and luigi bowsers inside story and were like "yea, we can do that"

Man I love the Superstar Saga bros attacks because instead of using items, M&L just freaking combo people using the sickest moves, then they can learn advance versions of those attacks and its so cool..

I REALLY wish the advanced moves returned in any of the games. Shame that was a one off idea cause it really incentivized using the moves for more than just doing damage in various ways. Especially since the advanced versions often had hidden mechanics, like Splash bros allowing Mario to stomp on spiky enemies (letting you damage Queen Bean without removing her crown), and Swing bros giving you a free item.
With Trio Shuriken, the giant shuriken can destroy the moon if it hits it. Just thought I'd bring that up.
Fun fact about Bye Bye Cannon : The pose Mario or Luigi take for the final hit is their Level Up pose from Bowser's Inside Story

I always loved the slow motion finish on the Dream Team moves, with the Zee Egg move especially being my favorite. Gives me goosebumps

Copy Flower just made me feel like a bad ass when I pulled it off perfectly. With how fast it went, and the constant sound effects. Absolutely destroyed
I love how the game balanced the "infinites" by having the babies heavily resemble the adults so it's harder to know which button to press as it gets faster. Especially the chain chomp where you actually fail faster if you hammer the chomp, one of the few special attacks that has an input that punishes you. (technically mixed flower also does if you throw the small fireballs at the giant fire ball, it'll shrink in size).
I love the idea that Snack Basket Luigi is called a Fat Bastard, that was funny piece.

Jump Helmet, Jetboard Bash and Shy Guy Squad are my eternal favorites. They just feel so, sooo powerfull. Hitting the Exellent on these feels like hitting the Enemys with Bombs.
(Btw im pretty sure i never saw that Jet Attack from the Pi'illodium so thanks for that)
One of the missing outcomes of Advanced thunder bros was Luigi doing an Lightning Blade from Naruto instead of hitting the enemy, and you actually do more dmg but at the cost of the debuff
One thing I love about the trio racket is that on random occasions, regular Mario will do the finishing hit, and he really puts his all into it with him whipping around like he does in his bomb derby move
Yeah, seeing Mario Luigi and PM have unique finishers was cool, especially PM turning into a paper Fan. They got SO creative with the paperfication animations.

Kind of like this "worst to best" format too. the shotgun to get through it quickly but explains just enough to know why it's placed where it is. I don't disagree with any of these entries. Really shows he actually thought of every entry and didn't just throw them in cause "oh yeah, I forgot these exist" like usual ranking videos do (you can always tell when the video maker never actually played what they're ranking)
Another hilarious fact about the pocket chomp is you can accidentaly hammer its head, piss it off and make it go faster to bite back the bro's

13:30 I dont think the bombs are completely original to the bomb derby attack, because if i recall correctly one of the Koopa Kids throw very similar looking bombs in one of the New Super Mario Bros games (im pretty sure its New Super Mario Bros U. with Lemmy being the Koopa Kid that throws them)

Something really unspoken about Splash Bros is that in their Advanced version, it doesn't only lets you hit a spiked enemy with it, it does bonus damage to them. It is an actually devastating weapon against Cackletta first phase
Superstar Saga is amazing in terms of the special moves. The advance moves were cool due to the fact that Mario came up with new moves on the spot. Very very cool.
6:09 For the shell, the quick snap to excellent in the original version of BIS feels so much better than the wind up and the kick in the remake. When I think of a shell move I want the kicks to build power and then boom! The rhythm of the kick, excellent!, and the filling of the badge of the badge meter hits the dopamine receptors just right (I’ve played this game since I was 7, I go through periods of not playing it, but there isn’t a moment were suddenly I’m thinking, what if they just made a sequel. But then how could perfect ever be topped? (Dream team is still fire tho.)

Superstar saga bros attacks hit different they feel so natural and more fancy as it’s mostly just the bros doing combos
And I remember learning them the first time as a kid and it taking a while for me to figure out how they work or what they do whereas the rest of the series the attacks feels very easy to do and learn
Getting that excellent and advanced in SS was unbeatable in feeling
So funny thing about bomb derby, i struggled a lot doing the timing when i saw the demo for it at first. Only a good way into the game did i notice that you can throw both the bomb and the swing at the same time and you will always land an excellent. Bomb derby became my favorite dream team bros move. Luoginary will have my heart, but the bomb derby is my favorite overworld bros attack
I love messing with the bros/special attacks in this series and I'm super excited for M&L Brothership. A pretty noticeable fun fact for Paper Jam's Trio attacks, if the enemy's paper self were to shatter into pieces at the end of the attack, that would mean the boss/enemy is out of health. Similar effect to when Magic Window or the like would cancel out if the boss was defeated. A lot of charm and care goes into these moves too. Probably the most well shown charm is in the JP version of OG Superstar Saga as each bros moves have various levels of detail on when you miss input them, even the advanced ones! :D
I can remember my best friend and me trying to recreate bros attacks in real life (if it was possible), like kicking a football to a wall to recreate the green shell attack, or jumping down from various places in the playground to recreate magic window... Anyway, awesome video, my all time favorite bros attack is the trio kite. We wait together for Brothership!✌

I've always found Sling Sniper to be one of the better Bros Attacks in the series, honestly. There's an element of precision to it, since if you hit the target right in the centre of the sweetspot, it'll do critical damage and send them flying. Highest consistent damage output of any Bros attack in the game if you've got the skill for it.

Oh hey, I did the exact same thing as a kid. I don't even remember why? I think I just always mashed A during the level up bonus and never realized I could use it on other stats.

It was only a matter of time, ngl as a paper mario STAN, never playing mario & luigi until SUPER late i learned to appreciate those games, same fun plots and dialouge and the attacks are fun.
I don't know if anyone else experienced this, but when I would use Thunder Bros, I'd intentionally fail the attack because Luigi would debuff the enemy with DEF Down after having a mislaunch. I haven't heard anyone else talking about it so I don't know if I had a fake copy or what, but I remember using it during the Cackletta fight in order to deal serious damage to her during Phase 2. If someone else remembers Luigi's failed Thunder Bros applying DEF Down onto the target enemy, please back me up here. I'm not crazy, I swear

I think from what we've seen
Brother ship will bave evolved attack like jump where they help eachother or hammer where they go spin
Then have bros attack that can be evolved with ability you get throuhout the game
Exemple at first green shell is normal than luigi get thunder then shell is electric
But hey that's a theory a game theory

Literally can't wait for Brothership. Superstar saga and Partners in Time are precious childhood memories to me
I think Mighty Meteor should get a bit of extra credit just because of how incredibly useful it is during the Colosseum, especially in round 7. When your items are pre-determined, every one counts, and the meteors sometimes even give you BETTER items than what you go in with.
Luigi deserves the extra love for this video for all star-based creatures and the entirety of Paper Jam.

Going based off what we've seen in the trailer, I'm tempted to believe that the bouncing move where Mario jumps off of Luigi's feet and that one flipping hammer move are bros moves in a similar vein to Superstar Saga ones. And the Superstar Saga Bros Attacks are in general my favorite because they are usually based on the abilities you get that help you progress through the game. The inclusion of the Shells implies to me there might be 2 versions of Bros Attacks in the games. Ability based like in SSS and Item based like in the rest of the series. That's just my speculation tho.
I think instead that that attack and the one were Luigi smacked Mario into the enemies doing and AOE attack are rather the regular jump and hammer attacks, just amped up in comparison to the other games. The fact that there isn't a close up when they do the last blow unlike the 3D Red Shell makes me belive it.
For my favorite attack it has to go between Magic Window (OG) or Mega Thwonk loved how MW could go indefinitely if you were skilled enough, always been a blast to use, Mega Thwonk, it’s a giant Luigi, do I even need to say more? In the games that the bros have a unique move set as attacks, Luigi always has the better more fun ones imo

I think that the portal was created thanks to the strong brotherhood of Mario and Luigi, as the glowing hands were the ones that specifically touched when Mario saved Luigi. So the glowing hands might not represent hand powers but rather just their strong relationship

While I appreciate snack basket for what it is. It single-handedly prevented me from completing bowser’s inside story because I could never mash hard enough to get the required excellent rating to progress the story making it one of two games I couldn’t complete because of a required mashing segment
I love this video. I feel kinda like a fake fan with the Mario and Luigi series. Never played partners in time. Only beat Bowsers inside story. Never ended up beating Superstar Saga or Dream Team. But your video shows your passion and knowledge and I appreciate that.

I’m pretty sure they were almost always called bros attacks I don’t recall them ever getting called special attacks. Even bowser’s were called brawl attacks.
Playing BiS twice in a month has trained my brain to immediately memorize yoowho cannon even when I’m just watching a youtube video oh my god,, it’s not even my fav attack in that game it’s just really good.
Also I still can’t use bomb derby properly. I **can** however get Trampoline and Copy Flower insanely well. Like so well I have one shot bosses with over 1000 health. And that’s most boss in PiT (the US release anyways. Bosses have so much HP)
Will say I’m a bit bummed that Magic Window got nerfed in the remake of BiS. It has a much more obvious end now where as the og jus goes on for a little longer.
(Also glad to know someone else thought the zeekeeper motion controls were wonky af. That part cost me the boss like 5 times. I thought the gyroscope in my 2ds died)
Also ya it is rlly shocking (pun intended) that Luigi’s thunder powers don’t come back in theform of a power up. They are in the sports game (mixed with tornado powers which is sick). I’m personally surprised it didn’t make its way to Smash and replace the green fire.

Should've gone a bit more in-depth with some of these moves, like how the babies can also hit the Smash Egg to mix things up with a different timing and higher damage. Same with the Flower attacks in PIT since the babies can throw them overhand to hit flying as well foes.
(Idk maybe this is just my inner Partners In Time fanatic working overdrive, but PIT has my favorite Bros Attacks in the series overall. I also prefer the Item system over Bros Points... Maybe its because a lot of the new attacks just feel too slow? Long start animations like walking into the foreground and changing the camera angle, that kind of stuff makes me just prefer using normal attacks.)
