We installed commercial doors throughout our office and in this video we wanted to show how to drill out and replace the cylinder after installation. How to make acoustic steel door?
Why are you still drilling when the door is open?
At least point out where to put the drill bit
So, If I lost original key on Schlage lock.. I can drill out cylinder, and buy a replacement cylinder with new keys to match?
Is this cheaper than buying a new Schlage lockset from Home Depot or Lowe's? Where do I buy the replacement cylinder. How do I know it will match original door lock set?
What I did is go to a locksmith in my town, tell them what I have and then they get me the cylinder. I think it costs like $8-12.
You’re drilling through the keyhole, right?
Yes
Plz do that again but say on a real lock cylinder (Dorma DSC sec 7-pin) and not what ever piece of butter you were drilling in the video.
These are the common locks we use.
Mitchell Acoustical: You need better illustration of what is happening inside the lock and where exactly to drill to achieve what is needed.
I agree. This is great information, but the explanation of the whole process would be better illustrated with some closeups, and a well planned out script. I had a hard time understanding why stepping drill sizes would make a difference to the final result. I'm looking forward to future Mitchell Acoustical videos.
I guess he didn't know how to pick locks
