More than helpful , i was about to go and buy glue sticks . Thanks a lot for the tips, now I can go and unlock my bicycle . If I still find it there , lol .
As a professional locksmith, I can tell you that what we are seeing done to these locks runs the risk of destroying the lock. I have never had to resort to anything more than extraction tools made for the job or a pair of tweezers. I see a lot of income potential in the things we were shown in this video.
I found out the best tool for a broken key problem. Fingernail Clippers. It's able to grab the broken key. I tried everything from pushing the key out the other side to needle nose pliers. Spent 3hrs trying to figure this dilemma out. Tried fingernail clippers and within like secs it was out.
@@vaiciciaku You're welcome. I was frantic. I was at that point of either replacing the lock or calling a locksmith. I decided to take the innards and pick up random things just to see maybe I'd get lucky. I saw the fingernail Clippers I said couldn't hurt. I was shocked that an everyday household item that's pretty much in everyone's house worked flawlessly.
@@theknockwhoones8740 you're welcome. Ik I was frantic thinking great how the heck I was going to get the broken key out. I tried doing what others had done. I was about to give up and just replace the whole lock when I looked in a cabinet and I saw the Clippers and thought might as well I've tried everything else. After the quick removal of the key I was shocked it worked so well. I now have the Clippers in my tool box just in case it happens again. Lol.
Thank you! Key broke off then I used top broken half to try spin lock round and it pushed it even further in. Anyways I aligned the lock with a knife then used a super thin allen key from other side and it pushed the key out just enough to use a scalpel to prize the last bit then used fingers. Took me all of 90 seconds...so happy!!!
@craftroom your methods are the best that I have seen. I went to try the drill and screw method and accidentally discovered another way 😁 I put some machine oil before so I could drill and said let me try to tap it, and by tapping he bottom enough to release the broken half of the key for pulling it out 🤗 ( key drum was for a machine not a door lock )
This should be titled "how to remove a brand new key from a brand new Euro lock", because removing an old key from a weather worn padlock is nowhere near as easy as any of these methods. In fact, it's close to impossible.
Thank you looked and tried a few things from other videos then saw this and perfect pop with the knife first try. It’s all about the angle I guess going from the top. Thanks so much. 💪🏼👍🏼🏆
I’ve never seen a lock made in the last 50 years in which you can push the key out from the other end. The hot glue method will work if you use it to stick an appropriately shaped piece of wood or metal to the key end, assuming the key can be removed easily. Individual results depend on the situation. It requires a little thought and preparation. The most important thing in this video is the importance of lining the key stub properly before attempting to remove it. Your results may vary.
It's a profile cylinder lock, they are mainly used in Europe or those double windowed back doors in the US. ("French doors"). As for key extraction, usually any small metal pointed object can be used if the keyway is aligned right. Kinda how he used the razor blade by "inching" it forward.
These are for hotels and caretake, in case something happens to the client or customer, and the left their key into the lock from the inside. You cannot buy this in diy, but need to visit the pro's or know where to search for in internet.
Well I'm in the UK and I just pushed my deep broken key out from the other end with my smallest thinnest Allen key and damn am I happy about it. Sure needed a scalpel to prize it a little but without the thin Allen key from other side I would be screwed it was too far in.
Those are easy compared to trying to remove one with the slide over cover that is spring loaded! Have hold it out of the way while still trying all these tricks. Would like to see a tutorial on that problem.
Most of those are completly impractical or destructive.. Put a drop of super glue on the broken off part thats in your hand.. carefully rejoin the two parts before super glue sets and hold for 2 and half minutes.. carefully pull it out and get a key cut mediately.. works with the cheapest nastiest super glue because the metal break is fresh and clean so it grabs strong enough for removal.. Ive done this befor, fast.. no fuss.. no damage..
as soon as you put a drill anywhere near the lock then you may as well just drill out the whole thing anyway as the lock is not longer fit for purpose and will need to be replaced.
I used glue stick a minute ago and it worked, I got my key out.. the trick is thicker glue stick and letting it dry for 5 mins before you pull it out. It worked for mw
Should try this with a broken abloy key while your on your back looking up the donkeys ass, cussing, seething with rage and wishing the most vile, hateful things be done to the ass who broke the key off in the lock. Just be kind to service techs. We are doing a difficult job for ungrateful people sometimes in the worse situations.

As a locksmith. I approve of all the methods using baking soda, glue and drills. The more locks you potentially damage the more money I make.

Try getting a broken key out of a shipping container housing lock. No room for any tool to go in. 🤷♂️
Well it has a ball and a bat in it, so 3 strikes and I'm out. 🤔
