yes......no doubt......then....adding humming to the walking kicked it up a whole nother notch...... you get the big uptick in nitric oxide, but you also get a really nice chest vibration going after about 15 minutes that is almost hypnotic… It starts to feel like a battery that is pulling you along… Good stuff......

This is the basic aspect of the OODA Loop which was created by an Air Force fighter pilot during the Korean War. You Observe the situation. You Orient yourself towards that situation [you physically or mentally face it]. You Decide to Act. And finally you Act. If you do this faster than the opponent, the opponent is now constantly reacting to YOUR situation and is behind the curve. In your own situation, if you do SOMETHING, then your individual situation is responding to YOU. You have a small particle of control. Repeat the activity of ACTING and those particles become bigger and you'll start to fee the power of your own agency.

The lesson is start doing rather than thinking. As you are doing you will think, correct, readjust and keep moving toward your goal. Spending excessive time trying to formalize this path before walking is wasted time and energy. Excellent analogy.

If you want to have a healthy and long life walking is the key. My dad walked everyday until he was 85 and he had heart disease and asthma and he lived till he was 94. You can sit on your as and watch yourself slowly die or you can get up and live the healthiest live you can.

My dad started running marathons in his 50s, about 64 he needed heart valve replacement so switched to walking, and light lifting. Had another valve replacement at 74, he died two months ago, about 2 months shy of 85 bday.
The last 4 or 5 years, he had NO energy, was skin and bones. Didnt walk except like once a week he would do a few laps inside his house.
I dont think exercise helped my day, especially the marathons. I think that strain on his heart caused the heart valve to leak requiring surgery.
Also i have a cousin that ran marathons, and much much younger than my day by 26 years, and he needed heart valve replaced twice also. They only last 10 years.
Walk, but stay the heck away from running long distance. Hell i wouldnt run a mile after seeing my day and my cousins experience.

I think the “walking” this video is referring to is making choices and taking chances by going in new direction in life, not just “standing” by doing nothing and suffering in the same spot (mentally).

      Miracles, Christian Supernaturalism, and Naturalism.

      What good are miracles?

Superman can do miracles. Superman is a Supernatural Superhero.
Spiderman can do miracles. Spiderman is a Supernatural Superhero.

Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader can do miracles. Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader are Supernatural Superheroes.

The X-men can do miracles. The X-men are Supernatural Superheroes and Supervillains.

      Here is what prevents the Bubonic Plague from killing people, from Wikipedia;
(Bubonic plague outbreaks are controlled by pest control and modern sanitation techniques.)
In the years 1347 to 1351, 1/3rd of the population of Europe died to the Bubonic Plague.
Parents would have been praying to Jesus of Christianity to protect themselves and their family from harm and children would have prayed to Jesus of Christianity to protect their parents from harm. Did Jesus tell them how to prevent Bubonic Plague when they were praying on how to protect themselves from harm? 1/3rd of the population died. The reason we don't usually have Bubonic Plague around is because of the modern sanitation and pest control. Was that to much for Jesus to explain to the Christians in Europe?

So what did the people of Europe need in the years 1347 to 1351? Did Europe need a Supernatural Superhero? Or did Europe need a Naturalism Hero with knowledge of Nature.

Most people of any age of humanity can write stories of Gods that can do miracles. The harder part is for people to be able to examine Nature successfully.

The Age of Enlightenment writers wrote about ancient Story Gods for the altar and for the throne, rule from both Religion and Government. That is why Age of Enlightenment Philosophers, directed us humans to Nature's God and not human created Story Gods. Thus Thomas Jefferson's "Laws of Nature and of Nature's God." Jesus of Christianity is never a Nature's God.

FIRST: I totally agree ... I have always loved to walk and at age 70 I routinely walk 4 miles before breakfast everyday. SECOND: I disagree too. One of the most important pieces of advice I have ever had was "Don't just do something, STAND THERE." Walking can be an escape in the way that travel can be a fools paradise. Yes, walking is like breathing ... essential but not sufficient. Look, listen, patiently watch . Watching, asking questions and investigating are essential too. For example: If you are troubled by a reoccurring nightmare, you can get up and walk it off ... or you can ask the nightmare to show you its' boundaries ... is ever anything new with it? Does the nightmare get the same response all the time? Can you open new doors for the nightmare or is it limited? I LOVE to walk .... but, it should not be turned into some an escapist drug.

Little personal experience note real quick... any of yall ever legitimately been lost in the woods without anything? I have once and you end up walking in circles. What if there is now downhill? No stream? No river? No road? Even when i real focused and thought i was getting somewhere i was getting nowhere. I eventually found a road but it was at the bottom of essentially a 30-40ft cliff. I was lost for hours and i was more or less in someones "back yard". Their yard was up against woods and i went walking around in there before everyone woke up so no one even knew where i was and my phone was in the house charging. At some point 5 or 6 hoirs later i heard a faint sound of someone yelling or laughing and honed in on that and started walking that direction. Id stop and wait and hear something and kept going until i popped up in my friends yard in a totally different area than where i entered. Real fuckin easy to get lost in the woods.

This scenario literally played out years ago in Maine. Appalachian Trail section hiker Christine Largay left the trail to relieve herself and became lost. She literally perished in her tent waiting for rescue. If she had only picked a direction and walked she would still be alive today. Inaction was her demise.

Walking has solved all my problems... Along with a lot of other people, I had a job for 30 years that kept me behind a desk.
I used to run for exercise when I was younger, but my knees could not handle it, so about 15 years ago, I started walking regularly. These are not your leisurely strolls through a local Garden where you stop to smell the flowers. I generally do a mile in about 17 minutes, and I usually walk 3 to 5 mi a day.
I go out for an exercise walk early in the morning, and then I usually go to Chinatown and all of the local markets to pick up ingredients for whatever meals I'm going to make that day or week.
    When I retired I weighed 176 lbs. That's a lot on a 5-ft 10-in frame, but I'm now down to about 155 lbs and I feel great.
I also started eating much less beef, chicken and pork in favor of more veggies and fruits.
I'm 64 years old, and I think I'm in the best shape of my life.

There was a spanish poet called Antonio Machado that wrote: caminante no hay camino, se hace el camino al andar. Translated would be like: Walker, there is no way, you make your way by walking. That is the same concept Joko is talking here.

I was forced to give up my car 14 years ago. There’s no public transportation and can’t afford cabs. Walking has given me arthritic feet and ankles. It’s very painful. Even going a block and a half to my corner store. Walking almost two miles to my bigger store by the time I get back I can hardly walk up stairs. Walking occasionally is great. NOT when you depend on it and in all weather.

    Two guys in the woods.
    Both saw the video.
One decided to walk, the other to stay.
The one who stayed said: "Dude stop! It's a metaphor! He's not really talking about walking!"
The walking one said: "But it's from concrete actions that we derive strength and insight for our abstract problems."
The one who stayed did not understand. He decided to not care, as he knew that he's not real but just part of another metaphor.

I got this from another user on youtube: your two legs are your greatest doctors. Walk. Walking is the best because you can do it over and over again for the rest of your life compared to running and weight lifting. Stretching is also important.
