I am 66 years old. I have been on blood pressure medication for 15 years. I was on statins for high cholesterol. Four months ago, I started walking 4 miles a day every single day without fail, and I am now off of blood pressure medication, and I am off of statins. I just had my blood test done and my doctor cannot believe it. All of my levels of cholesterol blood pressure and sugar were in the low normal range. I have you to thank for this, sir, because I saw your video and made the decision to begin walking every day . I hope this true testament from me will help others to do the same.
I have had cancer for 8 years I have walked 10,000 steps a day. For the last 6 years I feel that it keeps me alive Just came across this channel tonight
Same with me except I have stage IV liver disease. I speed walk 7 miles every morning. It has really helped mitigate my liver related issues. It's my lifeline. I can't stop or my physical health will be compromised most likely by infection.
I have chronic cancer, lymphoma, I walk when I can (mostly when it’s cooler, NYC has been so humid this summer) and bike indoor bike everyday up to 12 miles, I believe exercise is the best thing ever, so healing and I feel much better , stronger 💪🏻❤️
I am dealing with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (it’s not mine too keep). I ride mountain bike 10 miles a day, plus 100 incline push ups during every ride. I believe the Lord Jesus will deliver us all from Cancer and disease!
My husband walked every day about 3-5 miles for 40 years until he turned 90 and slowly he’s stopped completely. I’ve been asking him to help ME to walk more to encourage him. He tries but his walking is quite difficult. The lesson here: walk while you have the circumstances and the health before time passes and you are no longer able. Start when you can!
I think it's a good idea to exercise fast twitch muscles as well as slow twitch muscles, as we tend to lose the fast twitch muscle faster as we age. Either way, your husband is a good story. I have an uncle in about the same situation. He's 87 and has to use a walker now all of the time.
Walking is greatly helping my chronic stress, my depression and my ability to regulate my emotions. I just don’t feel right if I don’t walk at least 30 minutes per day. When I started I could only do ten minutes and I have worked my way up to an hour.
The reason why you feel better is not so much of the walking, it's because you've stopped drinking. Alcohol and drug use takes a toll on the body overall. Whenever a person stops drinking and using drugs (after going through the withdrawal), they will feel like a brand-new person.
@@slimdude2011 Stopped drinking before just before I started the regular walking. Has made a huge difference health wise, acid reflux went very quickly after I quit, blood pressure now normal, no more brain fog, improved energy levels and of course have more money in my pocket. Wasn’t alcoholic but drank regularly, heavily sometimes and just wanted to give it up. Don’t miss it at all now and doubt I’ll ever drink again. Cheers.
I made a decision to walk after stroke even after being paralyzed and have been walking consistently even if I can’t get outside I walk inside it definitely helps. I have gotten off 13 different medications as a result of walking so trust me when I say it works! I currently walk with a cane and no longer paralyzed by the grace of God! We must never take for granted the blessing it is just to walk. When paralyzed I dreamed of walking now I can so on the tough days please do it any bc it is a miracle to walk.
@sgray4995 I used to be a runner, but at 74, having arthritis and one hip replaced, I now walk 2 miles a day. Most of my body fat is gone, but I'm still working on it. I take no medicine and feel walking, plus a couple of other activities will keep me on the right track. Maybe someday, I will walk as far as you!
When my Dad retired, I talked to him about walking every day. He still thanks me for that. He turned 90 last week and looks 60. He still walks an hour and a half each day and loves it. He's in perfect health.
My husband and I have been walking everyday for 15 years. We walk anywhere from 3-7 miles. We didn’t get Covid. We don’t get colds or the flu. Our day is ruined if we can’t take a walk.
@mellocello187 We live in Florida now. You can walk all year outside here. If it is raining when we usually walk, we just walk later in the day when the rain has stopped. We used to live in Illinois and we had times we couldn’t walk outside, so we walked on an indoor track.
I'm 61. I was 300lbs, had a heart attack in my early 50s and a pacemaker at 56. I went on a strict KETO diet and began walking every morning for a couple of miles. I've lost close to 100lbs and feel great. Like others have said, once you get past the "Oh God, I have to get up and walk", it becomes I NEED the walk. I feel better when I walk in the morning than when I don't. It's that simple. Fortunately, I have a buddy to do it with and that helps a lot. I walk 6 days a week. Usually leave one day for other stuff like yard work and golf to get my exercise.
I would like to add that while walking at a fast clip or long intervals is best for you, that doesn't mean if you can't do it you don't try anything. I was ill for two years and ended up very de-conditioned and using a walker. I went through physical therapy and they had me on a schedule to move around for five minutes every hour. I progressed to losing the walker, holding my husbands arm to walk around slowly, to walking around the park and on a treadmill. Now a year later I garden, hike and whatever I want. If you can't do things don't give up. Just push yourself a tiny bit more everyday. If you can only take 100 steps that is OK, try to do it 3 times a day. "Yard by yard life is hard, inch by inch it's a cinch."
@@rachelarmel7547 Thank you, that is kind of you. I was robbed of two years of my life, I'm not losing any more at at 70 years old I came back swinging.
Well said!!! I needed this..I’ve been comparing myself to the old me who could zip around with no trouble! I’m different now but I STILL start somewhere!!
I totally agree. I am 72 and walk 50 minutes in the park everyday. I start before breakfast, just a glass of water. No sunglasses, I look ahead of me as much as possible to let the light in, and focus as far as I can for my eyesight. I feel great, also, no covid, no,flu...most importantly I get my best ideas when I walk. I sometimes record my ideas as I walk. I am writing, and I am convinced that walking stimulates the brain and increases creativity. I see the results. The last 5 to 10 minutes I spend with the crows, feeding them. Then home, breakfast and open the computer to write. 5 to 6 days a week. For 4 years now. I feel the difference.
I would like to know more about you walking without sun glasses. I always heard you should always wear sun glasses to try to prevent macular degeneration. Am I wrong? Thanks for any info.
Coincidence? This morning I decided to walk a mile and vowed that I would start my mornings with this small habit, to try to build a routine. Came home and sat down with my coffee to look at RUclips and came across this video. What is hard, is putting ourselves first and taking the time to do something as small as this 20 minute walk. My goal is not necessarily to lose weight, its to give myself the grace to take this time. Thx for your encouragement.
I love this!! And, yes, give yourself plenty of grace and permission to start slow. If you couple that with thinking long…you’ll build a solid routine that will last for years!!
hey melinda!! I was doing about 20 minutes, with my rescue dog, and my sister causually said: "you got to kick that up to 30"!!! LOL. So I just did it!! I expanded my routes somewhat and pushed - NOT successful at first!!! But over time, I got that up. IN my neighborhood, is not the most safe!! Sometimes a drunk or someone will start out behind me- Now, without running, I can turnon the after burners and leave any walker in my dust- because other people can NOT make 4mph!! best wishes! I hope you are making your goals!!
Bingo. My wife and I started in January 2022 walking every day. We have lost 60lbs each and have never felt better. Just got finished with my 15000 steps this morning.
I am 80 years old and I have walked every day for the last six years. I record my daily steps in a spreadsheet. I average 10,500 steps per day. My blood pressure is right where I want it even though my weight not as low as I like. My goal is to lose 20 pounds in the next two years. What Dave says is true about the way walking makes you think about yourself. That is important.
I live on a wildlife estate in South Africa near Kruger. I walk 3.5 miles a day with Giraffe , Zebra , Waterbuck, Kudu , Warthogs and thousands of birds to name a few….. Blessed 🙏🇿🇦
Perfect, but . . . if that amount is difficult, don't give a second thought to starting out with a regular 10-minute walk everyday, and then increasing it gradually! The more slowly you go, the more successful you will be!
I've been doing this for a couple years now. I also jump on my kayak for an hour or two a lot of days. I'm 66 and retired now. Life is so good! I love the smell of the outdoors!
I live in a Texas city. It is very hot now. I started walking in May leaving house at 7:15. Walk about an hour. Iam slow but have got in 2 miles. I am 77+ and have scoliosis plus others. Have not walked in a week because I hurt my foot. But will get back to it.
When your foot heals and you walk again take water and drink a lot. When I was young I treeplanted in FL and after work would run 6 miles and it was HOT. The only way I could was to drink a whole lot of water before and during the run.
I used to have a sedantry job that I hated, I left and became a Postman which is a very physically demanding job, walking every day and heavy lifting of mail sacks. During those ten years I never once had a cough or cold, not even COVID and my waist reduced in size. Now retired in our 60s, my wife and I both walk 2 miles everyday, a round trip that takes us into the countryside and up down some small hills, we've seen nature change daily which helps our general wellbeing. Sometimes it's hard to motivate yourself to go walking but we always feel better when we come back. I have great respect for walking as exercise.
i've been walking in the woods everyday for over 4 years now. i never miss a day, hail rain or shine. there are days that i am exhausted after work but i go, even if it is after dark i go with a flash light. i have a secret weapon. a dog that won't let me say no today.
You have to give your body a rest because you're not a robot. Even machines break down after an extensive amount of use, so what does that tells you about the human body? When you feel tired, exhausted your body is alerting you to stop and rest. The body can only take so much, and too much of anything is not good for you! If you're overworked and over exercising and not allowing your body to rest, I would strongly advice to you take heed. Some people just don't know when to stop! A person can work out and exercise 24/7, but when God is ready to take us from this earth, there is nothing that nobody can do to stop it, regardless of what we do. If your occupation is already physical, active then you don't really need to do a lot of walking afterwards, because you're getting enough exercise at work, and you're getting paid for it. I'm now retired, but when I was working in a manufacturing facility, (which was very physical) with no air conditioning in the spring and summer months, working 8-10 hours a day for 30+ years, that was my exercise. I was too tired to do anything else when I got home. I took a shower and relaxed for the rest of the day. You think I'm going to go out and walk 4 miles or more, just after working in a hot facility for 8-10 hours? You already know the answer.
As a nearly completely sedentary person with significant arthritis and other medical conditions, I am inspired by, and grateful for, this video. Thank you so much for your RUclips channel, videos, and podcast. I’ll be checking out your podcast next. I think all your resources are going to be extremely motivating and helpful to me.
I have been walking daily, outside in nature, surrounded by trees, for the last 5 years. First it was 30 minutes, now it is 40 minutes per day. It is wonderful, I love it...it does wonders for the body and mind.
I love my early morning walks along the brow trail over looking my home town. It’s quiet. Just myself and maybe half dozen other walkers/runners. Started back with this habit in April. Pretty pathetic at first but I did what I could for the start. I’m feeling so much healthier these days, even with some issue with my medial all. Walking doesn’t bother that at all. My walks always remind me how grateful I am to live where I do. Someplace safe. Someplace beautiful.
@@Louiebull242 you are correct, but I would like to say that in my experience, once I realize how much good walking was doing my body and my overall well-being, I am hooked on it now, and I look forward to doing it every day. The thing to do is just tell yourself you’re only going to walk 10 minutes and then once you reach the 10 minute mark you will decide that you will just continue on. The main thing is just getting started. Best wishes on your walking endeavor !
Great question. What I’ve done is use a measured track or trail and time yourself walking a mile. If you finish at 20 minutes your pace is 3mph. 15 minutes puts you at 4mph
I lost 5 st 3 lbs with Ww healthy eating and walking I was pre type 2 diabetic at the start of the second lockdown I started to walk 5000 steps a day hated it only walking where there were no inclines but after a few weeks I was losing weight and walked further each day then walked up hills with no stopping to take my asthma inhaler by the end of lockdown I was averaging 30,000 steps a day = 10 miles I walked in my own as I liked to stride out at my pace 2 years later I still walk about 10/15 k per day exercise steps being consistent is the key these steps are over and above my “ normal” daily steps when I can’t get out due to the weather there are lots of indoor walking exercises on RUclips and I like these because you use different muscles as walking you only use forward moving exercises I know love walking my mental and physical health now at the age of 77 feel the best I have ever felt in my life I certainly with i had discovered this earlier in my life but I’m fit and healthy for a lady of my age take care happy walking ❤
Thank you for the inspiration. I hired a personal trainer to start weight training when I turned 50. Fast-forward almost 2 decades later, that two day a week effort has paid off tremendously. I need to add regular walking to my routine.
We have a close friend who’s a personal trainer and she says strength training is so important as we get older. Sounds like you’re living that reality.
I’ve lived with MS for decades. My balance and gait have improved tremendously with daily walks… when I started, a PT provider was insisting I start using a walker. That got me out there. Slowly at first. Now I do a brisk mile early every morning. I don’t aim for endurance, I aim for consistency. My lifelong motto was always ‘no pain, no pain’, and now at 68, while I have no nagging sports injuries evolving into arthritis, I confess daily walking has saved my mobility.
I get quite ratty if I can’t walk at least 12,000 steps a day! Same weight (128lbs) as when I left school in 1985. Feel great. No meds, no aches & pains. No depression. Best thing ever!
@@WalkingisFitness please do! I’m a Brit - “Feeling ratty” is a very common statement over here…I think the nearest equivalent words in the US would be “I get very cranky”! 🇬🇧+🇺🇸👍🏻
Do you really keep track of the number of steps that you've walked? Who does that? Why not just go out and walk. Trying to keep tabs on every step that you make, the time and so forth, can be stressful unnecessarily.
Since the passing of my dog 4 years ago I started to walk every day for at least 5000 steps or half an hour, come rain come shine but mostly i do 1 hour walking or 10000 steps. The hardest thing is to keep the routine because it sometimes can be boring because i know every corner of my neighbourhood. So I always try to walk somewhere else but also means with the car to another place or parks. On holiday is the best way to walk cos it is discovering new things and it prickest your senses too. So keep on walking and be happy and safe.
You're a good influence, Dave. I've worked a 15-20 minute walk into my post-dinner routine. It's great for digestion and gives me a boost of energy for the evening. I haven't been doing it long, but I think I'll be able to keep it up as I've habit-stacked it onto dinner clean-up. So, thank you! Great videos, and wonderful advice here.😊
I’m 65 and hike 3-6 days/week with other exercise the other 3-1 days and one day off. My daughter is a paramedic and every elderly fit person is a walker!
Started walking with my dog for an hour every day about a month ago. Also working my arms daily with 5 and 10 lb hand weights. I’m already feeling, thinking and sleeping so much better.
When you walk daily, it becomes a "have to," like brushing your teeth and putting on deodorant. It is integral to your well-being. I was a nerdy bookworm in my youth and started exercising in my 20's. Most of the athletes in school are now sedentary. Life is funny. Sometimes we switch places.
I have been Nordic Walking for the last ten years basically every day for about 12,000 steps and some times as high as 30,000. Several years ago my Fitbit notified me that I had walked the distance of the diameter of the earth. I guess when that goal was reached it no longer felt it was necessary to continue to measure. But I don’t care about that…. I am my own motivation. Happy walking y’all.
Thank you Dave! I love to walk, always have. I enjoy hearing your enthusiasm and helping others. My husband put a "birding app" on my phone (big deal for me as I not an "app person") and it's been fun to see what birds it picks up each day as the seasons change. Today I had 25 different birds! Just kinda fun!
I have found that getting started is the hardest part, but after you walk consistently for a week or two something happens and you actually get into a rhythm because of the benefits you start feeling (emotional, psychological, physical).
Thank you. .. I'm 52 and taking up nursing. I'm almost done with the prerequisites. .. "I can do hard things." .. I definitely have the motivation to finish at this point in my life. It's basically "do or die," and I still have the second half of my life to get through.
Hey Dave! Good to "see" you! I listen to you every day on Spotify during my early morning, hour-plus walk. Always good content and it's nice to have you in my ear. Thanks!
I injured my knee a few years ago and couldn't straighten my leg for two years. Our bodies were designed to move. My doctor told me to take it easy,so I "nursed" my knee for a few months and then said forget that!!! I've been walking almost everyday at least 2 miles. I can straighten my leg now. Sometimes if I push too hard I'll ice it and take ibuprofen. But now I can get in as much as 10k steps and very few knee problems...it was a process and not easy but thank God; my body loves motion
I'm glad I was led to your channel. I'm 64 and I used to work out. It's time to start again. I used to walk a great deal. This video motivated me to start again.
During the COVID lockdown I got into the habit of doing a four-mile walk three times a week. Always felt great afterwards, though the walk itself could be quite boring (I don’t like using headphones while out and about). Now I lie on the couch feeling depressed every night. I must try to get walking again.
Thank you sir for the video and the challenge. I started 9 days ago, averaging 7,000 steps per day. I missed two days, started again, watched your video again. My Physicians Assistant spoke some hard words. He said if I don't get my blood pressure under control before I know it I'll stroke out and spend the rest of my life in a nursing home, pooping in a diaper. Ouch. But spoken in genuine concern. My blood pressure is now about 90/150, already a big improvement. Thank you again!
Good message. As my parents were walkers, I too became one for several decades. Now 72, this inspires me to get back to more real, serious walking. So thanks !
YES! To all of this.....I think the key is to just get up and walk. I see so many people who suddenly just get up and decide to run and then get burned out immediately from it when all they really need to to is walk. It really is as simple as that. Although some people might have to start off walking slow at 2mph at first and then build up. Walking is feasible for almost anyone at any age. I walk daily and your information is priceless. Thank you for such a beautiful and informative share 🌵🥰💐❤💞👍🏻
We go out walking every day with my son who is autistic, he loves being outside and walking works wonders, feel so much better for it, I also enjoy swimming which is an extra boost, kind regards to you and everyone out there, Mark from Billericay in the U.K. 🇬🇧😀😀👍👍
Sounds great and I've tried and tried to implement walking because in my 70's I can feel such a difference in my general body flexibility. I'm stiff and sore and my balance isn't great, although, it's not bad but I know things will get worse if I don't do something. So far, I say every night before I go to sleep that 'tomorrow I'm going to start walking' but most times I don't go out and follow through! On top of everything that I've mentioned I'm on 2 meds for Type II diabetes so walking alone would be beneficial to help with my blood sugars. One thing though that I must mention is this: men can safely walk alone in the woods, around most neighborhoods, etc. but females have to be twice as careful when walking alone in the same places so this is another concern. Just my humble opinion but I do hope to be inspired to make walking my priority so that I can live fully and move without pain and stiffness. Thanks for sharing this video and kudos to you for walking everyday.
Thank you for watching. Thanks also for your honest comments. I hope you’re able to find a walking place that feels safe so you can build and maintain a long term habit
You are an encouragement. My husband and I are 60 an 61 and are still farming, most days I get over 8,000 steps just going about my house , yard an garden . I’m wondering if I need any extra walking , I don’t have a good place to walk outside, our road is too dangerous and the fields have long grasses loaded with ticks an chiggers . I got myself a stepper for inside use and have been using it , but goodness that is boring !
I do not mean to be presumptuous, if it was me I would look for a different tack. Is it possible to mow the grass right around one of your fields, so tgat you could walk aroubd that eachday in relative safety from the road and space away from the long grasses. Long sleeves, long trousers tucked into boots, natural repellent spray. I would be round and round that field on a morning and evening after work. Sounds like you are very active in your daily life. Love and blessings xx
@@Briardie thank you , yes I actually did that , our 15 acre hay field , I used it a few times then the cows were put on to graze , after that it rained and was rough an muddy I couldn’t mow . I really should try again. If there’s a will There is a way 😁
@@ozarkview928anything is better than nothing. You’re doing great Compared to people who sit at their desk all day. But if u have the chance to go for a 1hr walk even on Sunday 1 day a week, I’d do it.
Very nice! I found this after a nice meditation and watching the woods behind you as you walk was so calming and nice. I’ve gotten out of my daily walking routing (Covid, moving, etc) so I’m glad I found you. I’ll start up again!
@@macsmiffy2197 yes, this is my greatest concern. That I will not be able to continue walking for the rest of my life, but, for now, anyway, is the greatest thing I have ever done for myself.
This was inspiring and the added bonus of walking, about the way we think of yourselves was eye opening. Thank you for sharing that. I will check your podcast. I like the idea of taking a walk with you, it will be like a walking buddy esp helpful on the days I do not want to walk.
Totally agree..walking is wonderful! I’m up and out by 5:30 every morning in summer (too hot after sun comes up) I average 130-135 steps per minute…and I walk for an hour. I used to walk slower (and averaged 7500 steps a day)).., but since I kept going faster, my energy level has really increased. Now I pop out of bed and ready to go and average 12000 steps a day. I’m 77, in excellent health and no meds. How do you determine the MPH? ..and have you tried interval fasting walking? I’ll look for your podcast-I love those for company while walking! Thanks for the video!
The best analysis of the reasons why to walk - by explaining the negatives we all go through, the questioning, then just getting the hell out there and doing it - thankyou thankyou from someone in England 😘
I'm 79, healthy, full head of brown hair, no medications, not overweight, 124/70 BP, sleep 8 hours, walk 30 to 60 minutes every day. Been taking a regimen of supplements for the past 35 years.
I graduatied from running to walking. I totally agree with your philosophy on walking! I am 74, and I feel like I am in the best shape of my life. Thanks
Thank you for this. I'm going to start walking more. I used to run, and still do other training, but hip bursitis Is really taking a toll. I'm with a physiotherapist now, and going back to bare minimum in order to build up again. Walking will replace running for me for good. New subscriber, I really like it here!
I’m sorry you can’t run anymore. That’s really hard to give up something you love. I hope, in time, your passion for walking grows so is an activity you look forward to doing every day. Thanks for watching
Thanks. I don't think walking is 'hard', but it IS sometimes hard, as you say, to make it (or some other form of exercise) a habit. I've been walking daily for close to 5 years, not for weight loss, but for overall health, and I'm sure it's made a difference.
As one of the earliest subscribers of your Podcast in Spotify, I like to thank you for the channels and motivation that you give me to walk more. It's life changing, physically and mentally! Consistency is the key to success, I would say the most important to know. I'm glad I started hearing you and followed your thoughts and ideas. 😊
I totally agree with you about doing it every day--yes, it is the hard part but if you miss a day get back on track. The same goes for lifting weights even if it is only two day a week--the hard part is keeping at it. If you do it long enough it becomes part of your lifestyle whether it is walking, biking, or weight lifting or other kinds of exercise. I walk all year around even in the cold winter, fall, summer, and spring. I find it helps to ward off colds and viruses and keeps my body in shape and running well.
I fast walk a mile every day and have for years. 77 Years old, on no meds, BP 112/70. Also lift weights 2 or 3 times a week to keep strength up. And might I add, ALL body parts function perfectly!
If I can’t get out in nature to walk/hike, I walk at golf resorts. There is always water (sprinklers/lakes) , smell of fresh cut grass and it feels safer than walking down the street or at the parks. Calm relaxing atmosphere and the people are happy. Just my observational experience.
Thank you for doing this video. It popped on my feed last night and this morning I got up and walked. I only did 21 minutes because of a sore foot from years of abuse but I went out and did it. Thank you!!!
Hi Dave, new subscriber here. I am so pleased your content has popped up on my feed. I am making a change to my life habits having seen my overall health and fitness decrease a lot and I’m only 46. I’ve always been fairly fit but I’ve noticed some big changes in the last five years or so. I will definitely be listening to your daily podcasts. You look fantastic as well, and you inspiring me to be the same. Time to start looking after myself. Thanks man, love from the Uk
Following the podcast!! I started walking a few months ago after hitting a diet plateau, it was hard due to neuropathy and plantar fasciitis, but I am going...
It's so slippery outside in the winter, where I live, that I've had to aasemble a little home gym of rebounder, step, stationary bicycle for sprints and exercise bands.
I'm only on one med and it's a statin. I'd love to go off.

What a great testimony! Thanks.
Brilliant, good on you Terry....
Great! On top of that i'd recommend to do earthing, grounding, barfoot at least 30 min in the evening
As a former runner, walking daily is such a pleasure! Never take your health for granted.

Exactly! 🙌
Me, too, used to jog, but walk now 🚶🏻
Walking instead of running was the best thing for me especially when I started adopting small dogs!!❤
I went from jogging to bicycling to walking. Bicycling was best, but somewhat dangerous without trails close by.

@@HeatherPauline that was encouraging as I have a hard time walking now.

@@WalkingisFitness Ha ha, that’s an excellent way of looking at it 👍
The reason why you feel better is not so much of the walking, it's because you've stopped drinking.
Cheers.

What a great comment! Thanks for sharing your story
How long to lose nearly 100?
JESUS BLESS YOU FOREVER,WELL DONE
Your experience will inspire a lot of people. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Have done similar with walking and the rowing erg…..I get my best ideas! Cheers!

Stick with it!
hey melinda!!
When you COMMIT yourself, the HOW will come, the WAY WILL COME!

Take the time needed for recovery. We understand the challenge of heat here in SC.
Yes Texas City is hot and humid, heal your foot and you can get back in the routine and make a difference in your life! God bless.
When your foot heals and you walk again take water and drink a lot. When I was young I treeplanted in FL and after work would run 6 miles and it was HOT. The only way I could was to drink a whole lot of water before and during the run.
Get well soon and may God bless you .From a unknown friend from the far east.
I used to have a sedantry job that I hated, I left and became a Postman which is a very physically demanding job, walking every day and heavy lifting of mail sacks.

How many big animals have you seen ? Just curious 😊
Do it for you. Its a small commitment to make that has multiple benefits. You deserve it. Just look at how healthy Dave looks.

YES! To all of this.....I think the key is to just get up and walk. I see so many people who suddenly just get up and decide to run and then get burned out immediately from it when all they really need to to is walk. It really is as simple as that.

Very nice! I found this after a nice meditation and watching the woods behind you as you walk was so calming and nice. I’ve gotten out of my daily walking routing (Covid, moving, etc) so I’m glad I found you. I’ll start up again!
Thank you for watching and for your kind words!
After waiting years for a Total Hip Replacement, I’m really looking forward to getting back to walking again without pain.
@@macsmiffy2197 yes, this is my greatest concern. That I will not be able to continue walking for the rest of my life, but, for now, anyway, is the greatest thing I have ever done for myself.
I’m excited for your pain free future! Thanks for watching
This was inspiring and the added bonus of walking, about the way we think of yourselves was eye opening. Thank you for sharing that. I will check your podcast. I like the idea of taking a walk with you, it will be like a walking buddy esp helpful on the days I do not want to walk.
Thank you!
It’s great walking. I walk twice a day. It’s also beneficial for mental health. The days I can’t get out is maddening.👏🇨🇦
So true! Thanks for watching
It's the best thing I know for mental health. I walk at a fair clip and will go out even if it's raining. Always feel better once I've been outside.
Yes indeed!!!! Walking is giving me a spiritual, physical and financial life!!!
So many benefits to a walking commitment!
Most enlightening - thank you. Love from England.
Thank you for watching!
Totally agree..walking is wonderful! I’m up and out by 5:30 every morning in summer (too hot after sun comes up)
I average 130-135 steps per minute…and I walk for an hour.
What a great comment! So inspiring!
The best analysis of the reasons why to walk - by explaining the negatives we all go through, the questioning, then just getting the hell out there and doing it - thankyou thankyou from someone in England 😘
Thank you for taking time to watch and leaving this encouraging comment!

I graduatied from running to walking. I totally agree with your philosophy on walking! I am 74, and I feel like I am in the best shape of my life. Thanks
I love this comment!
Fantastic video! Thank you. Also beautiful scenery.
Thank you!!
Thanks. I don't think walking is 'hard', but it IS sometimes hard, as you say, to make it (or some other form of exercise) a habit. I've been walking daily for close to 5 years, not for weight loss, but for overall health, and I'm sure it's made a difference.
Well said! Thanks for watching
Oh wow…thank you!! Grateful you’re still listening.
Great comment!! Thanks for watching
I fast walk a mile every day and have for years. 77 Years old, on no meds, BP 112/70. Also lift weights 2 or 3 times a week to keep strength up. And might I add, ALL body parts function perfectly!
Love this! Very inspiring
Love this!!
Thank you for doing this video. It popped on my feed last night and this morning I got up and walked. I only did 21 minutes because of a sore foot from years of abuse but I went out and did it. Thank you!!!
Take care of that foot! Thanks for watching!
Thank you I am 63 and I walk everyday I watch your videos everyday
Every day
Thank you!!

You look fantastic as well, and you inspiring me to be the same. Time to start looking after myself. Thanks man, love from the Uk

Just found your channel. New subscriber. I needed to find this.
Thank you!
Following the podcast!! I started walking a few months ago after hitting a diet plateau, it was hard due to neuropathy and plantar fasciitis, but I am going...
Love your commitment!!
That's why every good person should adopt a rescue dog as your best walking companion!
Having a dog can be so motivational to get out and walk!

some retired persons simply cannot afford the price of a pet, food, shots, etc.
Exactly. Dogs are perfect walking partners!
That is a beautiful forest. Where is that? thank you for yr video.
This is actually a short trail through a small woodsy area in Myrtle Beach, SC. Thanks for watching
I wondered that too! I’m in Charleston, SC in the winter. I’ll walk more in the state parks there.

It's so slippery outside in the winter, where I live, that I've had to aasemble a little home gym of rebounder, step, stationary bicycle for sprints and exercise bands.
