Thank you! I was walking three miles daily through September and then got that dreaded Co19 that affected my asthmatic lungs. It has been nearly three months, but I am starting back at it tomorrow, a little at a time. I truly changed my way of thinking about exercise and improved my balance, I am a young 58. I have just started following your podcast, so let's walk together!

I have to walk daily, I have a dog. It’s not enough since he likes to stop and smell everythung , so i walk alone as well. Now, in the colder weather, I have a small treadmill. I jump on it and watch my Netflix series. I walk at least an hour nightly doing this. If I’m going to sit and watch it, I might as well make it a healthier habit. Plus gentle and yin yoga daily .. Im 70.

Thanks I needed to hear this. I have actually been using a Fitbit and counting my steps for years but lately I seem to be getting videos on my feed talking about walking isn’t so important for health. For the last couple of days I have felt like maybe they were right. I did just get back from a nice walk. And now I’m committed again.
Stay committed and keep walking. You don't realize how wonderful walking is until you reach a point where walking is difficult or almost impossible for you. I've been to that point and it's really horrible and takes away so much of your life. I am determined to get back to a place where I can walk as much as I want so I can enjoy life again. God bless!!!
@@anns1921 Yes, I understand that. I do caregiving and on days I really don’t feel like walking I tell myself, walk for those who wish they could. It’s just been a little disconcerting to hear some dismiss walking.

I wanted to thank you for the motivational talk on getting started walking. I am 76 yrs old and always did walk a lot but was getting lazier about it with time. I got a step tracker and yes I find it very helpful. I agree setting a daily goal on my tracker gets me motivated to walk each day. I really didn't think I needed it but now I find it invaluable. Even if I can't meet my goal everyday at least I feel good that I tried. I am working towards 10,000 steps a day but I am happy to get at least 6,000 steps in a day. It's a start. It is a lot better than sitting on my recliner and thinking about doing it. I already feel more energetic so it's all good. Thanks again. 😊
For 8yrs i walked 5 miles a day but i had bad accident has had not foung good i lovr walking lost lost of weight. Keep walking enjoy ure peace

Many months of the year I don’t have a climate for walking. So, it’s house walking for me.
Hoping there aren’t too many ice storms in January and February because I really want to do this.
Everybody I’ve known that have kept active have lived well into their upper 80’s and 90’s. And then died of natural causes. But no dementia, no cancer, no nursing homes needed
Well, I’m starting off the new year with a new neck. Surgery on the 31st. I’ll have 6 weeks of wearing a neck brace but the Dr said, get up and WALK. I have a treadmill so to be safer, I’ll walk on that as I recoup

We all must die at one point. However, we can have as much control over our quality of life as possible by taking heed to his advice. My precious husband died suddenly on me and I have been walking regularly. It really, really helps. I strongly recommend people to walk. It is the best thing for us.
My 91 year old dad walks daily. He even gets up during commercials on tv and walks around the house. He just keeps moving.

I used to walk long the river with my dog every day, we would be the only ones on the river it was amazing, I moved from the area, now I hardly walk as it’s inner city. I’m 78 and I ache all over due to lack of exercise, and old injuries and now fibromyalgia. Thank you for this video, it makes me remember how well I felt when walking, I have parks, so no excuse not to walk. 😉

Thanks for this. Subscribed to your podcast and this channel. I recently got into walking regularly. I’m almost 50. It’s a habit I want to keep up daily for 2025. Really enjoying it. My knees can feel sore afterwards if I do more than 12,000 steps or so.
I used to run regularly. I switched to walking. I enjoy being outside and just moving. I have been diagnosed with bone on bone knee arthritis and a ganlion cyst in my right foot. I want to keep walking and when I ask a doctor they say, stay active, but I'm nervous about walking due to the pain I'm in. I know activity helps but with my knee I'm just worried. Anyway, I enjoy your channel and will be seeing a physical therapist soon. I really miss walking and running. Thank you again for your videos!

I wish i had a house/property on the edge of a National Forest. Everything around me is private property and people drive crazy fast. Even worse is my job is at a desk.
Walking doesn't cure my IRS debt. The stress is still here when I return from my daily walk.
I'm 69, today is 248 days in a row, 3 mile minimum. It has been a huge benefit in my life. Lost weight, huge mood improvements, thinking more clearly, enjoying everything more. Just get out and walk.

@@anns1921 very kind of you and yes it can work for you too. Get a free step counting app so you can keep track on your phone. For me that really helps. You can see how much you've done and stay motivated as a result.
What if walking is painful?
Very Good Question! I would probably bike at the gym. I had that happen recently so I rested for a couple of days and pressed forward. I don't know what happened but my ankle and foot healed. Happy New Year.
