I started a daily walking habit last July. And I fully agree- it has changed my life. When I was ill with COVID last December I missed walking so much. Soon I felt better I started my daily round again and got stronger with every step. We are on the right track.

Walking saved my life. I started walking for my health back in 2010. My priority was to lose weight. I started walking 10 minutes a day and worked my way up to 2 hrs. Now I walk 30-60 minutes a day to maintain my 130 lbs weight loss. I am so glad I found your podcast while listening to Real WW talk because it has ignited the fire in me to continue on this journey. I have been walking everyday and looking forward to listening to your podcast. I set my intentions to walk the length of the podcast but more times than none I continue my walks beyond that. Walking for me has improved my mood, my energy and my sleep. It's not always easy. Some days I just want to sit and do nothing but then I remember your podcast and lace up my shoes and just go. I live in New Brunswick Canada and the weather here has been challenging but I adjust accordingly by putting on layers. Hi Dave, I'm a new subscriber and am really enjoying going thru your videos. Question- Did you ever suffer from arthristis or plantar faciitis (PF) in your feet? If so, how did you deal with it. My daughter was an avid, twice daily long walks, and suddenly got a severe case of PF and she is really struggling as nothing seems to help for very long. Any encouragement would be welcome. What is it do to your mind and brain if you get right out of bed get dressed and head out the door for a 10-minute walk my normal routine is to get up sit on the sofa for an hour have a cup of coffee and then go for a 30 to 40 minute walk... Also I will be going out for that 40 minute walk closer to around 11:00 a.m.
This video has perfect timing. I just made a commitment to myself yesterday to start walking after work. I did twenty minutes yesterday around my neighborhood and felt great. I set an alarm on my phone to remind me after work to get that walk in. I’m definitely going to check out your podcast!
6:11 i love your videos . I walk 5 days a week for 1 hour, and it's been a month or more, and I am starting to really feel the difference. I have foot pain and am working through it with walking. I seem to be getting better little by little. I am considering custom inserts. I have store bought ones my Dr recommended, and they have been helpful. I am so happy every day i can walk !! Totally agree! My goal has been to walk 5 days a week for least 3 MI. If I may, I would add the Challenge to the 10 min. a day for 7 days would be in simply taking that FIRST step. People will TALK themselves out of it, by saying " How is that going to make a difference?" without even bothering to TRY it. In their mind they have already given up on themselves. I would encourage anyone who may find themselves questioning the benefits of daily walking to consider this approach. " I GET to walk today". There are many people who WISH they COULD walk. If you are able to STEP up for yourself in all manner of healthy living, I encourage you to. As so many ads tell us, YOU are WORTH it and you DESERVE this now.
Yep. Last night I was about to wimp out of my usual walk home and take transit instead. Excuse was I had a minor muscle pull/spasm in my side ribs. But, I walked slowly to the bus stop ... no bus, so I walked to the next bus stop and the next. A bus came by and I let it go by. Still much slower than my usual pace, but I did walk the 5k all the way home.
I just shared this video on my Facebook pages. I am always telling other people how walking changed my life and I don't make that statement lightly. It helped me both physically and mentally. I just had my annual physical with my primary care physician and she commented on how my physical health has dramatically changed in the last three years. She and I have had this conversation in the past few years and she noted that I walk daily along with cutting carbs and intermittent fasting. She try to get all of her patients to make small changes in lifestyle but few listen. All of my vital test are in line with where I should be. It all started with committing to walking daily!
In November I challenged myself to walk 5x a week for 20-30 minutes. I’ve kept and my blood pressure is amazing, I’m toning up and feel great Wish I lose more weight but muscle weighs more fat.

December 31 I started the 90 day challenge and I am nearly halfway through. Fighting a cold today but will do an indoor 10 minute walk due to a snow storm happening at the moment. Every walk isn't going to be perfect and I have missed a day here and there but I am continuing! I feel I have established the habit, now have to cement it. This has led to what I call The 10 Minute Rule. Whatever it is, do it for 10 minutes...fitness, chores, waiting to eat a treat. Astounding what 10 minutes can do. Thank you for these videos, they are very encouraging🎉
How do people cope with heat 🥵 It's the only thing that stops me from doing my new 1hr per day walks.
Suck it up and get out there early in the day. I do prefer walking in the winter.
Maryland summers can get pretty hot and humid. So, I schedule my walks for early in the morning or late in the day while still making sure I get lots of active time logged in between tending my vegetable garden or playing with my grandson. If you have wooded trails in your area, nothing better than a tree canopy to help you keep your cool.
Shorten your walk, it doesn't have to be for 1 hour...walk for 15 minutes, its better than nothing

I finally got a 12 years younger old friend of mine to walk around the block with me. He has a pinched hip nerve so it was a short walk but he did it. Two others declined the offer, but I'm not giving up on them. My dog is always ready for our daily walk. Only two things will keep me from walking, cold strong wind or rain. What i've found to be true for me, is just do it, even if I don't feel like it, it only takes a few steps to start enjoying the walk.

Should we walk through a minor calf muscle soreness ? Or take a couple days off ? I hate missing my daily walks , however I don't want to make matters worse .
I’m not a doctor, but what I do in situations like this is to walk briefly and then decide. If it feels like the walk is helping I’ll keep going, but slowly. If it feels like it’s making it worse…or even staying the same…I’ll let it rest. I’d rather not make it worse than push it.
