Never would have thought of mousing with snow on the ground.

Interesting time of year for it, glad to see it working. We usually fished mouse pattern late July/Aug time frame; whatever works, as long as it ends in tight lines.

I observed that the fish were looking up to feed a couple days prior and figured i would give it a shot. I went out yesterday and had similar experience fishing single drunken disorderlys with a deer hair wedge heads. I had four fish breach the surface for them in multiple colors.

Somewhere between 38 and 42 degrees Fahrenheit. Thanks for commenting. I’m always shocked when people watch from the other side of the world.

It was a lot of fun and I will be doing it again. The aggressiveness of the eat is pretty awesome.

Always enjoy your videos while enjoying the warmth of my wood stove. You mentioned pods of fish moving through 2 days earlier. Most of your recent fish look pretty skinny, do you think they’re still spawning or are they dropbacks?

Both. I think that because of the low water we had this season a lot of the browns didn’t come in right away then the flow rate multiplied by 7x and the fish in staging came up. People think brown trout spawn in late October and November. I’ve found that not to be the case. I bet there’s fish in staging now wait for the next big water event. (Snow melt or heavy rain.) I’ve found that there is fresh fish every high water event until the end of April if you count the small mouth run. Last season I caught a chrome rainbow in April.

I was wondering if anyone would notice. I had pre rigged the rod and missed an eye. I just wanted to fish and not tie a loop knot until my hands warmed up. 😂

Tried this before. Works really well when the weather is a little warmer and either at dusk or dawn.

It was a lot of fun. This pattern will be a permanent fixture in my box.
