I started fishing the Green in the 80's when it was still a washboard, dirt road down to Little Hole. Incredible river! I was about your age when I started fly fishing too! Enjoy and thanks so much for sharing! Tight lines! Also, it was on the Green River that first trip, when I learned the drop rig and have fished it ever since.

I agree...the Green is top notch world class. It's amazing that as dry as Utah is, 2nd driest in the United States, we still have the absolute GEM of the fly fishing world!
The Green, Beaverhead, Big Hole, Madison & Snake are my top 5. Need to branch out to newer water to see how much that list changes. It's tough to want to change things up when you only have a little time to head out on multiple day fishing trips. I need to make it a point to try a new river a year...2 would be even better! Great vid!

Well, the past nine years I’ve been going to the green and it is an amazing river. We usually fish four days there, one day flow trips. this is the first year haven’t done it and I do miss it last year. I took my son for the first time last yr in his first dry fly Fishing and he picked it up pretty fast. B and C are my favorite sections. As far as easily accessible streams and rivers go, the green has gotta be up there and definitely one of the best I've fished... but rivers in the backcountry of Wyoming, Montana, BC and Alberta are tough to beat. @@FSBrody Yup. No weight below the lowest fly. Which means if you want to use weight, you need to place it somewhere above one or all flies. Which means your rigging gets all messed up. With the bounce rig the lowest fly is generally going to be a larger nymph or maybe a scud or larva pattern, and then an emerger as you go up the rig. But when you have to put your weight above flies it messes up this simple formula. I usually run a 3-fly rig, which complicates it all even more. Sucks.

What's your rating of the green? I've fished 99% of the time on the lower Provo. Most days are meh, a few have been outstanding! but my mornings there are at 4am. and evening fishing is the only only way to dry fly fish, and even t hen you'll have 30 minutes of seeable conditions and even then you'll never know exactly what sized 20 very specific pattern they'll bite. I've spent hundreds of hours on the lower Provo and the only flies that consistently work are the ones I've tied myself. I'd say my average fish takes 3 hours to catch. so yeah....thinking of going to the green right below flaming gorge and fishing it for a few days for my own channel. Thoughts?

Thanks! We stayed at a campsite called dripping springs, it’s very close to the River access, but if that’s full there are many other campsites within 20 mins of the River. If you are able to float the River I would highly recommend doing so!
