I’m 77 and have caught a bazillion brookies, and I have to say…that is the most gorgeous native brook trout I have ever seen. The size, the coloring, everything about that fish is why we fish for them. Truly a beauty; congrats on bringing him to hand. 👍
What a couple beautiful, native wild brookie bucks! Native fish are the best fish no matter the size. I appreciate how carefully you handle them too. Nice.
Caught an 19 inch brook trout in the Adirondacks in a brook that was no more than two foot wide. It was right under a tiny waterfall that had some white water. The water was about two feet deep and it had to be the only trout in there. We also fish beaver ponds in the mountains of Upstate New York, brookies love them.
Best i ever did was a 17 inch brookie. In the most random spot. I k ew instamtly ill never catch a bigger one. But who knows. And this is my first year fishing.
You gotta come to Canada and fish lake nipigon and nipigon river, 5 plus pound brook trout are very easy to come by, got my biggest ever this spring 27 inches 8 pounds
Congratulations on those amazing fish! And even though you forgot your main camera gear, you still got some stunning shots! What a great adventure you shared - many thanks!
Your video just popped up in my feed. I'm so glad it did! Your enthusiasm is contagious. That fish was a stunner! So beautiful. I love how you did some close up video. I felt like I was there and I was excited for you. Thanks so much for sharing!
I'm from Ontario, Canada, and have caught about 5 beautiful male trout up to, but never over 15 in, and soawner males are probably amongst nature's prettiest fresh water fish!
Way to go, very nice brookie. What you said at the end of this video, your exactly right, you never know what's around the next ripple. That's what keeps me coming back. Tight lines. 👍
That is a beautiful fish, and a giant for a small creek. This one lake I fish in Ontario the smallest ones are 14-16 inches, 1-1.5lbs and they get up to 6lbs, wild fish, however, that is a totally different fishery. For a southern creek that one is nice!
What a fabulous fish! Colour-wise, it reminded me of the char found in Scottish lochs, so much so that I looked them up to understand the difference. I then learned that some people call brook trout, brook char. Whatever, yours was a proper native fish. Beautiful.
I've never gone fly fishing before. I've only caught stock trout with cheese balls and worms and occasional roostertail. I've been pretty successful at catching smallmouth bass in Creeks while wading,. I tried to convince myself I was not interested in fly fishing and let fly fishermen were all crazy, and there's two types of fisherman, the fly fishermen and then the baitcast fisherman and we're not supposed to get along. Though lately I'm contemplating learning how to fly fish and came across your video and I'm impressed. Just want to let you know that I really enjoyed your video and your personal best Brook trout catch
Thank you so much!! And there's no reason fly fisherman and bait fisherman can't get along. I've done it all and I don't judge anyone based on what they throw. I personally find fly fishing more fun at this point in my fishing career because I like the challenge and I have time to mess around with it. you should definitely give it a shot!
One of the most beautiful trout I have yet to see. I agree on the surprise factor. Went out yesterday to celebrate Veterans Day by getting in a trout stream in the driving rain and caught a very nice brown trout. Stunned and surprised and so thankful
I share your love for the brookies. The good Lord sure knew what he was doing putting that combination of colors into the clean, cold water of a mountain stream. Your big guy was a wonderful example .....for eastern USA. You do need to take a trip Quebec and do something about that PB. There are places where you'll think you're already in heaven. No one talks inches only pounds. 🤗
I know… going up that way is for sure on the bucket list. But I’d still keep my southern Appalachian PB separate! Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed the video!
Same type of behavior for the trout up in northern VT and New England. Seems the altitude and the weather follows the Appalachians north into the Adirondacks, Green Mountains and White Mountains. Something to keep in mind. Tannin colored water, shale and so on different but the trout seem to behave the same. That square tail is epic for that stream. My biggest is 10in or so. Monsters for the beaver dams and streams I fish.
I used to work for the forest service and the biggest brookie we ever got was a 16.5 inch monster. It had a hook jaw and a hump back like a salmon. It was a true monster for West Virginia.
Wow, that is a huge native brookie, and the colors are amazing! We have brook trout here in Idaho, just not native ones. Never seen one with that much color here.
Nice fish! I fish a little for natives here in north east PA and haven’t seen one that big. As a side note the rich guy hunting and fishing club near me has a hatchery. They donate fish that get stocked in a bass pond near here for the kids fishing contest. My son caught a 18 1/2 and his friend caught a 20” brook trout. Hatchery fish just aren’t the same.
Beautiful brookies. I'm having a fiberglass replica made of a 16 inch I caught in Wisconsin on a small river. Mine was in the spring. According to the warden it was the biggest one caught on that opening day in Wisconsin.
Had an experience of biggest brook troute I seen in my life fishing with my kid behind my house. It got away but seeing was like holy smokes. Got some little guys today.
Cracking fish. Looks very similar to the native browns I catch on the small Scottish streams I fish (we call them burn trout). Largest I've caught is a 3/4lb. Perhaps around 12 inches long.. beautiful colours...
Hello! I’ve watched some many of your videos and I can’t get enough! I love your educational videos as well, I’ve taken a lot out of them! I’m a college student in Montana where I’m also from. I’ve been tying flies for a while and in the process of starting up a business with a buddy! I was wondering if sometime in the near future I send you some flies to make a video with! Thanks, Bridger Hall
Congratulations on breaking your PB! Can’t wait till u catch that 15 inch one! That fish absolutely beautiful from the mouth to it’s gorgeous tail! The scenery u have to fish in this video is beautiful! Thank you!
amazing video, would like too see you handle brookies less because of how delicate they are, but over 20000% percent better than any youtuber out there! GGS! AMAZING CATCH!

That really is the native brookie of a lifetime! Congrats!! Unreal colors on that fish. That's the kind of native that keeps me chasing them.
Thank you so much!!
Congratulations on those amazing fish! And even though you forgot your main camera gear, you still got some stunning shots! What a great adventure you shared - many thanks!
Thank you! The iPhone does decent in a pinch. Thanks for watching
I'm 65 and have caught some big brooks, but yet to catch one that big !! What a treasure to find..
I love wild gamefish...... spooky as a blind horse and as colorful as a neon beer sign in the rain..
Great video

the most beautiful colours on a brookie I have ever seen. Gift of God.
I'm from Ontario, Canada, and have caught about 5 beautiful male trout up to, but never over 15 in, and soawner males are probably amongst nature's prettiest fresh water fish!
Wowzers what a brace they were, the last one especially, the colours were unbelievable
Thats a super pretty fish. My uncle actually caught a 22in Brook trout on a peice of bread while fishing for baitfish in big island Virginia.
Outstanding! "Always expect every cast to be a big fish", My Dad.
Thanks Larry!!
What a beauty of a brooky!!! A huge specimen that is pure bliss to gaze. Congratulations!
Good morning my friend fishing 🎣
Good panorama fishing greetings 👍👍
Hell yea, great fish! A moment you won't forget.
The average Joe will never comprehend or appreciate what a big deal this was. Beautiful! Congrats and thanks for sharing!
Yep! One look through the comments and you can find people saying it's not a big deal. Thanks for watching!
..it's honestly not that big.. if it was double that size I would be slightly impressed
Way to go, very nice brookie. What you said at the end of this video, your exactly right, you never know what's around the next ripple. That's what keeps me coming back. Tight lines. 👍
No doubt! Thanks for watching man
Congrats on those brookies. The colors on the second one......I'm speechless. I am without speech. Awesome brookie fishing adventure.
That fish was perfect, love the bright spawning colors. Congrats on the PB!
"you just never know what that next cast might hold." amen
Beautiful fish and fantastic atmosphere. I do love small streams

I love the brook trout.Colours Amazing a truly beautiful creature.

That was amazing! Congratulations! I'm happy for you and I know how much you appreciate the beautiful fish that you landed. That is why we fish.

What a beautiful pb brookie. Keep up the good work Jon. Keep these videos coming. God bless you and always tight lines. Tony
Thanks Tony!!
Congrats man, those are some northern Maine looking brookies. Awesome to see a fish of that caliber in small water.
As a West Virginian, we sure do have some beautiful brookies. Congrats on the catch! Some crazy trout up there in the national forests and whatnot.
That is one real pretty trout in its beautiful spawning colours!

Hell of some natives, congrats man!
Those are beautiful fish. I love native brookies.
Amazing , beautiful fish
I caught a wild 16" brown out of a steam that size years ago doing the same thing. Fishing below big falls. Unbelievable fish on a 2wt

Holy crap that was THE MOST beautiful fish ive ever seen. This was a great video to watch in the morning lol. Great vid as always 🙂
Here in Michigan we have brookies that travel out into the big lakes called coasters, once caught one that weighed nearly 5 pounds, 20.45”
That was a very impressive Brookie!!!
SERIOUSLEY good video
Wow, Just an amazing beast of a Brookie
Nice fish! I fish a little for natives here in north east PA and haven’t seen one that big. As a side note the rich guy hunting and fishing club near me has a hatchery. Cracking fish. Looks very similar to the native browns I catch on the small Scottish streams I fish (we call them burn trout). Largest I've caught is a 3/4lb. Perhaps around 12 inches long.. beautiful colours...

Glad you enjoyed!
Beautiful!
That is a monster native Appalachian brookie. I bet no more than one in 10 or 20 thousand get that big.
Some of those smaller fish looked like they were colored up like rainbows. That big boy was a beautiful fish. Seriously.
That was an awesome video thanks
I’ve caught some really nice brook trout in PA but nothing to that level. They are apparently out there, just tough to find. Two incredible fish!
Were you guys fishing Cohutta WMA when you filmed North Ga Or Blue Ridge
just amazing.
Awesome video and nice brook
When going through wooded area it is safer to carry the rod point behind you to prevent breaking the rod point and ruining your day.
Awsome! 👌👌👌
What were ya throwing? Quite the beauty!
Cool as hell! Thanks!
amazing video, would like too see you handle brookies less because of how delicate they are, but over 20000% percent better than any youtuber out there! GGS! AMAZING CATCH!
Gorgeous brookie.
That fish was sick! It's nice to see conservation efforts paying off. You might run in to that 20in native brookie before your buddy does!
What size and weight rod did you use to catch that?
Yes the video I’ve been waiting for
just caught my pb was a 13 incher the spot we go averages around 7 inches so to pull that was nothing more then a happy surprise
