  • Over the past several months, I've had many people ask why I haven't been making much Warzone content so today I wanted to share why I no longer play Warzone on a regular basis. This isn't meant to be a complaint video, simply a video sharing my perspective to provide some insight as to why there hasn't been much Warzone coverage from me. What are your thoughts on the current state of Warzone?

    I honestly just stopped having fun with warzone as whole. My friends and I would see ourselves getting way too frustrated with it and in my eyes when a game starts to feel like a chore instead of an actual fun passtime/hobby I think it's time to move on to something else.

But I enjoyed the game more before they kept adding more health, that's unnecessary, it just makes it harder to counter hand holding. The less health people have the easier it is to counter squads, because you can kill, get out, and hopefully repeat the process if your good enough until their all dead.

    My main gripe is that you have so many guns yet you can't use them because they have 2 meta guns that require no skill, meaning you would lose any gunfight with any other gun. It's just not fun to try and have fun and play differently. The game started as a sandbox and has turned into an endless cycle of sweat.

      For about a year now I only played Warzone casually, I wasn't my main game and I don't have a single vanguard weapon max level, I'm just using what I already have.
      I'm surprised of how well weapons like the m13, ram-7, mp5 or the bullfrog perform, I just like the modern weapons. But yeah, sometimes I get lobbies with very accurate players with their vanguard guns and it's impossible to win. Even after hitting consistent headshots, doesn't always happen but it gets annoying.

    I am in the opposite camp that has abandoned regular multiplayer in favor of warzone but I actually agree with almost all of your points. As the epitome of an average player who can only play 2-3x per week it's tedious to have to keep up with the meta and grind out levelling up a gun to get the meta attachments only for the weapon balance to change it a few days later. More often than not I get all of the grind and none of the payoff. Obviously if I were a better player or played more often this would not be so much of an issue...but that is the very definition of a casual player. Lots of other games I can pick up and play with a higher fun/grind ratio

      @@benji9871 as someone who been playing since mw2, I don’t think you’re wrong, I know your wrong, let’s say someone with a below average skill lvl gets into a gunfight with a person of the same skill lvl, now me as an above average/good player spectating them, it’ll look like two children fighting, but in his perspective he just had one of the most difficult gunfights, now let’s say he gets better, he is now an above average player, he finds another opponent who is as equally skilled as he is, now do you think that those two gunfights felt different to him in terms of difficulty, I’ll tell you this now, they wouldn’t, it all comes down to your skill lvl, if your always vs’ing people at your skill lvl how would the difficulty change, you start to play better, have better recoil control, but then have the same score as when you were worse, theirs no sense of achievement from becoming better as you’re just going to find people who are the same as you, now in older cods, sbmm didn’t exist or at least not to this extent, when you became good, you could start to pub stomp, now here comes the magic, because sbmm didn’t exist, games would always be random, sometimes you join an easy lobby, where you rack up kills and dominate everyone, some games you’ll find it’s a lot more equal, and the win is more satisfying( especially in the post lobby after you win, so much fun), and then there were some games were you got absolutely shat on by another team or player who is miles ahead of you in terms of skill, I haven’t properly played cod in 2 years, why?, because as someone who spent 13 years playing cod, grinding camos, getting better, dominating because of my effort I put into the game, now I’m punished for my efforts as all the progress I’ve made is invalidated by sbmm as im put into lobbies with equally skilled players, I don’t play cod to sweat my nuts off each and every single game, I play to have fun, to use all the weapons, to use wacky builds, I also like to occasionally have a difficult match once in a while as to give me the satisfaction of winning a game with a team who could fight back, but with the way things are now, there’s little chance I’ll be returning, I may buy mw2 purely for nostalgia, but other then that, until they either fix or remove sbmm, the franchise can rot for all I care

      Don’t worry, WZ isn’t a BR. It’s a glorified last team standing match. BRs require improvisation, resource management, and adaptability. Loadouts makes sure none of those exist. You just run your loadout and you don’t have to adapt, don’t have to follow any strategy other than the one your loadout offers, and there are no resource decisions to be made because your kit is already decided. It’s not a BR. It’s designed to look like a BR, but it’s not a BR anymore than S&D is just a really really small BR.

    I've said since MW2019 that I think the grinding in the last few CoD games is beyond reasonable and I think we need to have a system like OG Black Ops. You earn in-game currency by playing the game and you spend this currency to unlock guns and attachments. The meta shifts often enough that a regular player will want to unlock a lot of guns and it removes the massive tedium plaguing the game.

    • @vewyscawymonsta
      @vewyscawymonsta 2 года назад +5

      @BlackTearsYT 2 года назад +2

      @@NINJA_INVESTORS Uh, no. Not sure where you're getting that from since nothing I said even remotely resembles loot boxes. That's not how BO1 worked. Like, at all. You just play and earn currency, kinda like how you play and gain XP. The currency could NOT be purchased with real money.
      Then you "purchased" a gun or attachment using that in-game currency. No randomness involved. A gun might be worth 1000 units of currency. If you have 1000, you just unlock it regardless of where it is in the list. An attachment might cost 200 units of currency. So you can "buy" it whenever you want as long as you have the gun already, and it doesn't matter if the attachment is first in the list or last.
      It removes all the grinding involved with ranking up to unlock a gun, then having to rank up the gun itself. Camos would still be earned by completing challenges.
      My proposal would be to keep CoD points to purchase cosmetics, then have a separate currency, you can call it whatever you want like (ex: CoD Bucks) that would be used to unlock guns and attachments. CoD Points would be premium and purchasable with real money, and could only be used on cosmetics like operators, blueprints, calling cards, etc but NOT used to unlock guns, perks, attachments, equipment, etc. Bucks can only be accrued through gameplay, and can unlock guns, attachments, perks, equipment, etc as well as cosmetics, though it would take a lot of Bucks to unlock cosmetics. This is exactly how League of Legends does it. Riot is much better at live service than CoD devs.

    • @BlackTearsYT
      @BlackTearsYT 2 года назад

      @@vewyscawymonsta Yes it's 100% intentional, which is why it gets worse with every game. However, I think they've finally overstepped the line and will have to dial it back since I think the constant grinding has been a big factor in the drip in Warzone popularity.

    Mostly spot on with my personal thoughts. I'll add poor "Visibility" and "Audio" to the list of issues with the game. Warzone's audio is a mess and still is to this very day, from footsteps, to in-game background noises, the announcer, and audio cues for match information, all going on at the same time, it's stressful to focus or enjoy what your doing while playing. "Audio" is the the most important factor in a Battle Royale game and Warzone's designed audio is terrible, too many sound/audio cues happening at once, so much so that you can't hear or figure out enemy players are coming to you, above you, or below you, if they are close.
    Visibility is poor for the most part. The color scheme of Warzone makes it rather hard to see enemies wherever you venture too or land. Even with adjusted settings or personal settings, the game's maps and character models blend together so well its difficult to separate the two, especially while in movement, running, sliding, looking around. Treyarch's "BLACKOUT", they understood that 'visibility should be specific' between the map, the character models, loot, weapons, etc.
    Good discussion video as always Ace. Hopefully Warzone 2 will correct the flaws of Warzone 1.

    Extremely well thought out. The apex parallel n bloat struck hard. The average person is usually deceptive about why they stopped tho. Are the supposed meta guns always the best? No. there has always been true sleeper guns that outgun the ‘meta’ or compare but content creators claiming everything is meta keeps ppl from finding out if it’s boy or cried wolf or not.. like “damn they are experimenting but discovering bullshyt so why would I try to find a different good gun I like if these sweats aren’t even able to find better shyt with all the time they put in” but really the amax n the pkm were always better than the kilo n until recently the mg82 n pkm were actually the best original choices to compete with VG guns.
    Which is what contributed to causing what we have now where everyone says their lobby is the sweatiest. Bc the average casual players just hear whispers of exaggeration about the state of the game n that keeps it so only dedicated players outnumber the casuals or gamehoppers.
    It’s just hilarious to me how ppl truly think the kilo era which was apparently their golden days... so much more limited on choices.. good choices yes... fresh n diverse? No. Why is it any different from the STG era. Or the xm4 era. A no recoil gun will always exist or else the average person isn’t getting kills bc average ppl don’t pull down on the right stick in the exact opposite pattern that the gun fires to control it... they’re not memorizing patterns they need their no recoil guns. They just hate losing n think Every1 cheats.
    Everyone has Cronus this n that shyt maybe they just tested the pattern on the wall n pull down left. Most ppl in the comments are just sayin they got pissed on just give up after getting pissed on but meanwhile you are clearly not just making excuse about how it’s fun having an advantage until the adversary does.
    Your points are so thorough n raw tho bc I took a break this season but am now enjoying it. (I stopped bc I hated the blixson Sprint to fire glitch n ppl playing scared but the map changed n the blix got fixed) But the average player who stopped playing lies about their true reasons. As in your cousin who can’t really shoot straight or slide n is the type of player anyone would want to have as the targets filling their lobbies... was probly only playing bc it was lockdown n he saw it thru his neighbors window.

    I think you've left out few major issues:
    1. The real battle royal map, Caldera, is just bad game play wise. They really put alot of effort in it, but scattered the POIs on the edges, where you normally avoid, because of rotations. To top that the visibility is real bad, so more often or not you will die to someone who just hides somewhere. The also relates to my second point.
    2. I think the game really caters to a campery play style. There's literally no counter to a guy standing still in a corner, pre aiming the door. He will hear you, and by the time you can react, you're already dead. Add to that perks like ghosts, and the heart sensor, and ofcourse the low TTK in comparison, it's just frustrating to put the effort to die to those kind of players.
    3. For battle royal, ot really takes along time for a match to begin. Usually around 5 to 7 minutes to the drop off, Which is ridiculously slow for a battle royal (and yes, I'm aware of the new tokens added). They should put all the players from the lobby which have died and are waiting for a next map in somesort of practice arena
    Just so they stay warmed up.and not wait too long. For casual players like me, who can play maybe 2 hours every other day, that's maybe 5-6 battle royal games, and 10 resurgence games...

    • @Alonbs9
      @Alonbs9 2 года назад

      @SomeChristianDude I don't think verdansk was way better BTW, the main issue is that when you get only a few chances (let's say gulag and a buy back), and if you're a casual player you will likely play with more casual players. So you won't have the safty net of a buy back by your team like those streamers do, because, well, they are incredibly good. This leads to people prefer to play it safe.
      I personally hate it, and I prefer to play agressive, but I'm still a casual player, so more often than not I die.
      This is why resurgence game play is the perfect combination for me of risk - not as high as battle royal, but not as low as MP.
      TBH, if they had resurgence on Caldera (and not the one they bring every once in forever, where the zones are predefined), I would play alot more, because rebirth was getting repetitive. The new map is a good idea, but they should also use caldera - it's there, waiting for players like me

    Honestly, while hindsight is 20/20, I remember how we were wondering if our progress from CW weapons would progress with WZ. And it seems that just became a huge flaw with the game overtime. While I like the large selection of weapons, some of them we can just not have, like the two separate MP5s.
    If anything, I hope that they limit what can be added to the game in future CoDs, like brining in iconic weapons like M16A2 and M1 Garand, while also modifying the imported weapons to fit in the style of WZ2. Seriously, ever since the integration, the attachment game was just screwy.

    I enjoyed the officer challenges.
    As far as making victory more rewarding for people I’d say offer either:
    - double or nothing: you load in with all the weapons and loot you won with, but if you lose you get nothing from either match.
    - spawn with victory weapon: whatever gun you were using when the game ended you get to drop in with (primary only)

    I like Warzone but me who grew up playing MP games, the BR genre is just not for me, the only time I would stay and play Warzone is when they updated the playlist which has respawn based game modes like Clash, Rebirth Plunder, and Rebirth Payload. That makes the game fun cuz I get to use my own loadout instead of fighting for my own life like its a tournament just to get my loadout. I just hope the devs would add more respawn based game modes like the 3 I mentioned for the casual player base like me, sick and tired of trying to survive till the last one/squad standing rather than spawn, fight, die, repeat.

    Amen, Ace. I'm right there with ya. And it's for a lot of the same reasons. I still play it, but not much. I'm a casual, and I basically play when I have the time and I'm not super exhausted from work. It seems like it needs to be a job of its own for you to do any good in it. And I don't need another job, especially one that doesn't pay. Yeah. I watch the youtubers talk about the meta, but it changes so fast that a casual just can't keep up. And the weapons I actually like to use rarely seem to find their way into the meta, if at all. And you really do have to run the meta to do well in your gunfights. And not only is the matchmaking bad, but the servers are horrible as well. With 50 MB/sec cable internet, a brand spanking new PS5, and a good tweaked router there's no reason that I should have to deal with the lag spikes and packet loss that I do. And then there's the sweats, and the cheats, and being forced to compete with PC players who have way more benefits than we console players with our weak aim assist. (that actually still doesn't work for me) I honestly think Ricochet is really only concerned about higher tier lobbies than the ones I'm in. I have never seen it troll any of the hackers in my lobbies. As for the solo play thing, that's actually been improving, in my opinion. The inclusion of solo resurgence modes is an example. I also prefer soloing and usually finish in the top ten. Although I don't get wins, it's better than when I play with the few people I do but don't mesh well as a team with because I don't finish with a horrible KD or spectating when they win without me. But my overall KD in WZ sucks while I'm well above average and finish with the highest KD of my team in MP most of the time. So WZ is really just not worth my time, for the most part. I may not even bother with WZ2 when it comes out.

    The BR Burnout section you had describes me 1000%. I used to play tons of Fortnite, Apex and Warzone, but nowadays I wouldn’t touch those games with a 20 foot stick. Especially since I spend so much time stressing over my job and family stuff, I don’t wanna play a video game that adds to that. For that reason I’ve gone back to playing Cold War which has its issues, but its been pretty fun and still has a decent number of players on TDM and Dom

    one thing about the apex point u mentioned at the beginning, you can also buy skin recolors as well as legends, so it allows you to buy some nice skins as well

    I agree with everything you said. Nice to see someone else does too cause I'm a huge fan of COD. I left and went to apex and I'm enjoying ranked but more solo based modes on big maps would be so awesome to get added to the cod playlist.

    Spot on Ace. I think the majority of us feel the same way about all of this. Especially the skill based matchmaking.

    i agree with all tge points above. the amount of guns , the time you have to put in to any and every weapon to upgrade it to a certain level to make it viable, the tryhardiness of lobbies when i just want to play casually, not competively, lack of over all progression towards something, player level reset every season, the insane tasks to unlock guns.
    this game expects you to invest your life in it from day 1, while not giving you even the bare minimum of rewards you should have for grinding this much.

    Maan I started losing interest when cold war dropped and people SPAMMING the DMR. It pissed me off so bad. My KD dropped 6 tenths of a point because I refused to use it. And they didn't fix it for like a month. It made me sick

    Right there with ya man, although personally my biggest complaint/source of burnout is the matchmaking issues. There is just no such thing as getting on a playing a casual session anymore. You either play super sweaty or you just get shit on game after game...and it's just not fun anymore. Like what happened to just vibing and chilling and having a good time in COD. It's impossible now, and I'm just super ready for a change of pace.

    The matchmaking is insane, I stopped playing well over a year ago but I thought I give the new map a go, it was like I never left turned it off after 30 mins... the game is not fun if you are well above average...
