I agree mostly but I honestly never really enjoyed MW2. The Game was never patched and despite what most people say, I have always held the same belief of Multiplayer Video Games, that balance is a HUGE part of why I like MP Gaming and MW2 was simply too broken imo and thus I barely played it and enjoyed it much. Yes, Cod4 had M16/Stopping Power, Waw had MP40/Stopping Power and MW3 had shit like Dead Man's Hand (as seen in the video multiple times actually lol) but MW2 had an unimaginable amount of issues like all the Deathstreaks MW3 had but also knifing was broken and MW2 had Perks like Danger Close, Stopping Power, Commando and of course... One Man Army, also Explosives by themselves were broken as shit and you could get a Nuke with other Streaks, rather than all Gun KIlls, plus there were tons of bugs at launch like the Infinite Care Package Glitch by climbing up one whilst throwing it or something, and balance was all kinda wack, the last Assault Rifle, the F2000 was one of the worst guns in the game and that's only like a fraction of the issues. Idk, I just feel like MW2 was the perfect storm of issues at launch just enough to where it was too much and had more issues than any other COD, but also wasn't as uninspired feeling as newer COD Games are, but I still feel MW2 is highly overrated.

Camos also were paid for buy this money system and you could even buy a gold camo for more. However if you wanted to unlock a pro version of a perk you had to do challenges. super simple and casual. I really felt every point you made in this video lol, as someone who’s just recently gone from MWR to MW19 I’ve noticed these things massively, like the point you made about people being easier to spot on the old games, in MWR if someone shoots me…I can normally tell where about it came from and play accordingly, but MW19 I find myself having to avoid entire areas of a map because I get dropped by someone I couldn’t see and when your camera turns towards where you’re shot from there are near endless places they could be hidden…like a window above a pile of rubble and a bush with a door just beside them and you’re just left wondering where tf the person shot you from, this is only made worse by the new mini map system that functions soooo much worse than the og cod mini map that was simple, but effective!

@@danieldanielson2324 Agreed. The issue is with current CoDs is that they rush the games out with little content, like 8-9 maps on launch, then rectify it saying "Content is free!" They already have your money, why would they put effort into making new maps and content when that gives them no money? All of their effort these days goes into their $24 bundles. You can tell everything around the games these days, from adding operators everywhere and a creating a free to play battle royale, that their main objective is getting people to buy these $24 flashy skins since that makes profit.
I think it's natural that, by human nature, people will eventually get tired of the "live service" and predatory FOMO service the game industry has right now and we'll move back to paid, but quality, content. Until then, it's up to people individually to scope the world out for completed games. To find the good games, avoid games with these things: "live service," "early access," and any type of micro-transactions (cosmetic or not). Think about all the great games in the past and present and you'll realize none of them have any of those things.

We’ve seen it before! These devs make bad game decisions, get flamed for it, rectify it later with an update and get praised???? Why are they getting praised for putting out a fire they started?
And these skins are literal free money. They probably pay for artists to devise something then make a dev create it. As long as it doesn’t have a dick, titties or a swasticka, it’s all on board to add. Who cares about paying respect to a time period like i don’t know, World War 2?!

When we first got the gunsmith i thought it was super cool and unique but after using the gunsmith for these past few years it just seems like a chore to me to use a weapon to level it up and get the attachments that I want. The simple attachments system from older CODs is far superior in my opinion.

    • @christopheryanez
      @christopheryanez 2 года назад +2

BO1’s primary weapons could only use 1 attachment and the Warlord perk allowed our guns to have 2 attachments and that felt like plenty for BO1. I’m pretty sure MW2’s Bling perk was the same thing too. BO2’s primary weapons could use 2 attachments and the Primary Gunfighter wildcard allowed primary weapons to use 3 attachments…one more attachment on top of 2 slots felt like it was more than enough.
Nowadays the gunsmith is honestly one of the worst game ruining aspects of these newer CoDs. It should be disliked just as much as SBMM. That fact that MW2019 let’s us use 5 attachments for our primary weapons is way too much, Cold War’s primary weapons can use 5 attachments and the Gunfighter wildcard allows the player to use EIGHT attachments, Vanguard’s gunsmith is just laughable…it’s WAY too much for a WW2 game, and now with MW2022 they added receivers and ammunition slots. It’s getting way too ridiculous for a game that’s was mostly known as a somewhat simple arcade run and gun FPS for the longest time. Idk why they’re trying so hard to make CoD into this wannabe tactical FPS. The gunsmith works for something like Insurgency: Sandstorm…not CoD. It’s also more reasonable in Insurgency: Sandstorm because almost all of the weapons, attachments, accessories, armor, and backpacks requires a certain amount of points to equip and the player only has a certain amount of points to use depending on the class they’re using. You can’t just use whatever you want, you have to use your points wisely. CoD needs to ditch their gunsmith system because it’s only going to make weapon balancing more problematic.

I think the older CoD’s charm was much more than just nostalgia. I would gladly take back some of the inconsistencies the older games had (migrating hosts/balance issues/OP killstreaks) over the crushingly anti-player consistencies these newer games have (Strict SBMM/seasons/focus on metrics over actual player feedback). The difference between the old CoDs and new CoDs is that the stuff that pissed us off in the older CoDs were all honest mistakes/oversights by developers who actually cared about making the best possible game in-spite of the technical limitations of the time period, where as the stuff that piss us off in these new ones are completely by design and the ones that are legitimate oversights often don’t even get addressed in a timely manner, DESPITE the fact that patches nowadays are the norm.

Very good point all around - but what I wanted to throw in was, I honestly started to to not mind host migrations as much after a while because it was almost always someone rage quitting and it was hilarious when you'd kill someone, only for a host migration to all of a sudden happen shortly after. Oh and also now, when the store has a bug? - INSTANT FIX - game has a bug? - we'll say we're working on it and eventually add a fix but only during a major update because we're really working on more microtransactions

Also the endless grind for customization. I reached level 70 prestige 10 on MW2 and still did not have everything which I loved! I dont blame that opinion but imo the games nowadays are way less skillbased when it comes to aiming, its like dynamic and rotational aim assist were just taken to the moon, in fact in some skill ranges you dont have the ability to miss 1 single shot… compared with pay to win dark skins, fucked up spawns and stairglitching its not even skill based anymore, its all about timing you have and who isnt running into a gunfight, in older cods you could react, you could have missed shots because the aim assist werent that strong, compared to sprint to fire and all that with 10000 different attachements….
They can add dead zones and horizontal and vertikal Stick sensivity and in ads sens but nothing more you need nowadays….

@@godfather53 I've played the games all the way from CoD1 through to BO2 before I started taking breaks; COD4 being the first game I played hundreds of hours of online multiplayer. SBMM has been a thing for years, as the developers that worked on the games have said. What changed with MW2019 was the implementation of engagement-based matchmaking, which purposely puts you into lobbies above your skill level and below your skill level to feed you hard matches and easy wins. The idea was to guarantee that players experience challenge and reward to keep them playing longer, but they pushed it too far. If CoD actually had zero SBMM, the player base would fall off a hard as nearly every lobby would be an unbalanced mess as team balancing wouldn't even be a thing.

    • @godfather53

Aw was the first cod I experienced sbmm, but still not even close to the new cods. Mw2019 sbmm was the opposite, it was the you basically play against 6 people with the same style, aim, movement, guns etc as yourself. When you change weapon for a couple of games, the next games will be oponents with the same weapon. If you got a few kills the sbmm algorithm nerfs your aim assist, if you die 3 times in a row your aim assist gets buffed

Also some of the historical settings looked more authentic which I liked, especially the older WW2 COD games. All armies looked like their real world counterpart. Ww2 is bad because it’s corny. Waw actually had a dark creepy vibe like ww2 games should where as ww2 was the most upbeat game acting like world war 2 is some some walk in the park. They also only included 2 factions, less than any other ww2 based cod had before, and the guns in the game didn’t even match the factions. The maps also were terrible. Shit game. And vanguard is one of the worst video games ever made and easily the worst cod ever made. It’s a cheap rip off of the past 2 cods and doesn’t bother painting a realistic picture of ww2 at all. Take out SBMM and up the ttk a bit and MW2 would feel the most like an older COD imo. The SBMM has taken out some of the craziness from older lobbies. In the more recent, the speed seemed to be turbo boosted faster than older CODs. MW2 feels a click slower in pacing but with the removal of slide cancelling, if they did away with SBMM it would feel much more like older CODs. I don't hate SBMM but it can make the game more tedious than it's worth at times. I think nostalgia is almost as strong of a drug as an actual one because everyone only remembers the good stuff while forgetting the stuff that was bitched about for the respective games.

  • @danielj5136

My hot take on old COD games has always been that one big reason why we love the older ones was that the opponents were much much easier.
Most people didn't use headphones, twitch didn't exist, most people didn't take the time to learn the stuff on RUclips, fewer squads, no SBMM, and the games were more popular (meaning larger amounts of noobs) compared to now.
In short was easier to kick ass without sweating and I think the enjoyable experience painted a happier memory of the games.

Me and my brother were talking about this the other day. We both agreed that all Call of Duty games after Black Ops 3 have not matched BO3 and before it.
There was a genuine excitement and innovation when Modern Warfare 2007 came out. It was revolutionary. The multiplayer was so much fun, the guns were fun to shoot, the graphics, ghillie suits, the story.
Each Call of Duty had something people were excited about after MW (save for CoD 3). MW2 innovated on the multiplayer, Black Ops had some of the most fun and balanced gameplay in multiplayer, it introduces Zombies, and the story was sick, MW3 was a bit of a mixed bag but is revered now mostly. Black Ops 2 is my personal favorite and it had the best of everything in my opinion with its slight futuristic setting, amazing guns, best maps, and the story was also my favorite. Ghosts was a mess but at least it tried to do something new. It had the most insane lineup of perks, the gunplay was fun, but the maps were just too big. Black Ops 3 introduced the best version of jet packs, great guns, fun zombies, and special characters.
Everything fell off in excitement after. Infinite Warfare was a disaster save for the story, Advanced Warfare was a total shit show, Modern Warfare was a bit better but it had so many issues with balance, map design, perks missing and felt too try hard to be realistic. Black Ops 4 wasn’t even a full game. Cold War is a rehash without any innovation, Vanguard is the worst call of duty I’ve ever played (even topping advanced warfare).
Now with Modern Warfare 2 they’ve done the same shit as MW1. All of the same issues are there but even worse with how the perk system works. Dead silence still awol, enemies not appearing on the radar firing a gun without a silencer, loud ass footsteps…
It’s honestly very upsetting as someone who’s played every Call of Duty game (and more so multiplayer since 2007).

The Groza and ODEN are both good, though not OP by most accounts anyways and CW in general, has much better balancing, though it's still not great, and the Scar-H from MW 2019 is considered by many to be the WORST weapon in the game, sooo... I just use what's fun or looks kool, that's what's enjoyable to me and i also generally use all the weapons and max most or all of them out because that's a lot more fun than meta chasing imo lol.

Black Ops 3 completely changed CoD because it introduced something that fuels all of Activision's MTX schemes; FOMO. Fear of missing out. The idea of turning the game into a second job to "earn" stuff, getting people to play with others with the weapon bribe victories and having items that may never appear again earned them a LOT of money, and also, caused a lot of stress. It also had an aggressive SBMM that people forget about since it's been so long.

The main things I prefer with the older cods:
    - A much more casual player base. Back in the day it was actually somewhat special to be very good at the game. These days the average player seems to be way more skilled
    - Less detailed maps which made it easier to see other players
    - Simplicity
    - More of a random matchmaking and less balance with how good guns were. Too much balance is boring imo

Older cods were full of problems such as host advantage, prevalence of exceedingly annoying perks and often questionable weapon balance.
They're also nostalgia bait for the lack of _strict_ SBMM (apart from the first 2 weeks into BO2's launch), a lack of eSports influence (for better or worse) and easy sound whoring (headphone usage wasn't the standard).
But modern CoD's needlessly disbanding lobbies, dubious matchmaking and grind-heavy progression had me quit the franchise after playing throughout each year since 2006 with CoD3.

    • @DeadSpacedOut

i think your nostalgia bait bit might actually be onto something... we might FEEL like newer cod is worse than it really is because we're forced to endure such a shitty and manipulative matchmaking system and were it not for that, we might actually think newer cod isn't so bad.

“Simple is better” I’ve said this for years. They’ve wanted to add more customization which of course is good, but there is a point when things get to be too much. The casual feel is gone. No longer can you just load up and play, you have to check 100 attachments and still not know if you have the best setup, for example. I think biggest thing for me is flow and maps just aren’t like the classics. Also, community influence is such a big part of games nowadays. Back when MW2 came out, the developers knew what they were doing and didn’t need so much feedback. Things will never be the same. All changed starting with Advanced Warfare and the Xbox One. Xbox 360 era really was the glory days..

Idk if it was mentioned before but the mtx in old games were reasonably priced and for a bundled content, you got a banging deal even w.o sales for dlc addons. The map packs, bundled gun skins were all surreal. I remember getting ghost and getting the bundle for the wolf+ripper gun and calling card for like less than $10 dollars and to the day, I hop on ghost offline and online just to shoot this creative, innovative, yet advanced weapon and have my wolf as my guard dog 🥹🥰 I also wasn’t a ghost hater, yeah ttk was ridiculous at times, but when playing offline I set the health to 130 so it feels like a previous cod game where I can actually take hits and deal consistent dmg. Hard to also hate on a game where no other cod top it’s perk system, was truly the best and limitless

I agree 100% with you. I remember when MW3 was announced, a lot of people saying that it looked the same as MW2. Little did they know that back in those days the new CoD had a lot of differences from the older one. Nowadays feels like is the same game, the menu looks the same, the guns are all the same, most maps are boring, sbmm and all the lobby issues.
About gunsmith too, in the surface looks like the greatest thing (maybe it is), but when playing is so boring. All guns feel the same, if your smg sucks from a distance, just transform it in an assault rifle, if your AR sucks when you're close, just transform it in a smg. The content is just too much as well, they just throw content at you but they have no quality, they are all numbers just to say it happened.
Unfortunely I have no more hopes for new cods, the way they were is never coming back, is never going to be simple as it was back then, but the way it is today is just boring and not fun

I can't speak for the old cods because I was a halo player but as on the gunsmith in current cods. I totally agree, I didn't like the ADS speed on the M4 in MW19 so I turned it into an smg. But after playing the beta in the new MW2, if you wanted an smg M4, you just choose the hurricane or whatever it's called. It's kinda the same gun but with all the downsides of an smg. I was consistently losing ranged gunfights but dominating closer range. IDK if it'll be the same as old cod's but it sounds like its a step in the right direction.
