Another great monthly recap. I'm glad you're liking Buffy again and if iirc where you are at in the show is when I really started loving the show. Hoping you enjoy the rest of the show and I'm curious if you plan on maybe checking out the Angel spin-off show at some point after. Also I'm happy everything is moving along nicely with your short film. I saw the BTS photos you posted on Instagram and I loved them! So excited for more! But thanks for another great recap!
Glad I found your channel. So many great episodes to go on Buffy, there are some great gems in practically every season. Also, Return of the Living Dead is a zombie flick gem that I think you would enjoy if you've never seen it.
I love the Back to the Future trilogy as well. Funnily enough, Christopher Lloyd was at this year’s Emerald City Comic Con! Also, I’ve actually been meaning to watch Species for some, it sounds interesting.
Yeap , Species is something I wanna watch asap cause I remember that when I did my research for the fly, one of the films that always came up as a follow up inspiration was Species
I saw Buffy the Vampire slayer in early 2000s MTV. I think another series was called Angel? I used to watch Buffy, Angel and Jack-Ass in early 2000s MTV, when they were new. I was born in 1989, so in 2002 for example I was 13 years old.
Also, perfect blue is an amazing film. I finally saw it on shudder and it’s amongst my favorite anime movies. I don’t watch much of that stuff so cool that you checked it out.
Kylie, great vid. It's always sunny in Philadelphia is great. (Oh, I watched The Wrath of Becky on the weekend. It's pretty good; I enjoyed it.) I'm now in the midst of watching Get Out. It's such a good film. Night of the Living Dead is, of course, a classic. All of George Romero's films are interesting - and worth a deep dive. Kylie, I'll check out Species. It sounds pretty good.
Hammer did a good Frankenstein film with Peter Cushing as victor and Christopher lee as the creature the curse of Frankenstein One of my favourites Well worth a watch
I found Neon Demon visually stunning. I also loved the synthy 80's score. I had higher hopes, I loved the director's movie Drive, but it's been a steady decline since that one.
Lmao The Roommate and When a Stranger Calls remake are two movies that I watched during 2020 quarantine after wanting to watch for YEARS. Saying I was disappointed is an understatement 😞
In regards to The Neon Demon exploiting female nudity (which let's be honest, that scene was for the men) while criticising it at the same time, you make a good point. So many productions are guilty of perpetuating the thing they are criticising, specially behind the scenes where people have no voice. Fairly recently I worked on a big budget TV show that was meant to be this super feminist statement about women supporting other women but at the same time behind the scenes they hated each other. The female production designer who is a well known bully here (think body shaming, lying, manipulation, verbal abuse, discrimination...) made her male producer friend fire the set decorator for no reason and after that, because of her influence, she indirectly caused her to get fired from two other shows simply because she didn't like her. The female director didn't speak to the production designer and vice versa so we'd get stuck in the middle of these two grown ass women who were telling us to do two different things but wouldn't sit and talk to come to a decision. The female buyer treated other women like sh*t. One of the female art directors was so awful that she made someone leave the industry and pretty much nearly gave her assistant a breakdown and after her assistant talked to other people about it her husband called her to harass her for talking shit about his wife. Then in interviews they were all like "this is a show about women supporting other women because that's our message", or "we have to create a good environment for new people in the industry". And I'm sitting here like, if people only knew the hypocrisy of y'all preaching feminism in front of the lens meanwhile behind the scenes you were treating other women like crap.
The bottle episode of mythic quest with jake johnson and cristin milioti is worth watching just to watch the light die in his eyes. Lol. "A dark quiet death" if people have apple. Dont need to watch the rest of the series its pretty separate in the characters amd story but ties in themes
I ❤️ The Lovely Bones. Never read the book but if I did I'd never compare the two. I was planning to read it this Fall sometime. The movie has a soulful vibe to me. I appreciate the homage it pays to dead and missing girls, and I really dig the nostalgia factor. Suzie's sister is a badass cuz of what she did. Stanley Tucci was nominated for an Oscar for his role. I've recently spoken to young women who were like 10-12 when they saw the movie and it scarred them emotionally. I saw it when I was an adult but I can see why a kid would be scared by it. It's actually one of my favs but then again, I like movies that bridge the gap between the spirit and living world with an emphasis on family connections and working out karma like in Ghost, the OG Flatliners, and Insidious. I also just watched Neon Demon and can't say I will ever watch it again. I think the director is a crazy phuck who gets to make movies cuz he's a dude and a lot of people like really phucked up movies so he'll probably have a fan base forever. I used to like Drive but not so much anymore. It was a phase to me. Happy movie watching.
Wow you have a lot of great content coming up!! 🤩 I wasn't really interested in watching the Leprechaun franchise, but since you're gonna rank them soon I might give it a chance, I'm especially curious to see Jennifer Aniston in the first one
Totally agree about Son of Frankenstein being the best of the trilogy. I think it's a combination of the production value, longer run time, and better characters. I found Wolf von Frankenstein a much more relatable character than his father. Bela Lugosi's Igor was a really fun villian. I'm also a big fan of the monsters new fur vest too. 😂
Have you seen the movie "Gothic" about the lost weekend when Mary Shelley conceived "Frankenstein" ? If not, have an edible and watch! Aha, finished the video and see you did! I love it and watch it every couple years.
I'm also not a huge fan of bride of Frankenstein. To me it feels like they had this new tech and were just dying to use it. I'm speaking of all the miniature experiments the Dr was doing. I would have loved to see more of the bride . She's seriously only in the film 3 minutes? I kind of wish she would get her own film now. Universal had an amazing idea with the bride of Frankenstein haunted maze fir universal horror nights. In this maze we saw what happend after Frankenstein is killed by the villagers at the end of the original film. The bride goes on a journey to collect the blood of Dracula to bring the monster back to life while taking out most of the universal monsters in the process. Simple but the art and new visuals looked amazing. Anyways I feel like the bride deserves better.
INNNN 2009 and at the moment, the lovely bones was FUCKED! lol, it's really just a drama. but yeah stanley ate that role up and i love tbat movie personally but am taking your word for it, i will CONSIDERRR the book lmao (i'm so scared)
Species is a guilty pleasure The psychic cracks me up The scene on the train when he says something bad happened here after the alien had killed the ticket lady brilliant especially when the other agent says no shit 😂😅 Do not bother with any of the others they are poor
I apologize lol. I just figured you get asked whether you’ve watched something soo often that it becomes annoying and perhaps someone in the comments could answer for ya. Well??? And ya probably still haven’t watched “Unbreakable”, have ya?
Sounds like you love love Fear and Loathing! Love/hate for me but I like it more now than I did when I was younger.. another "weird" Ricci role but Lucy is the only character in the film I actually feel bad for unless I'm forgetting a character.. and Johnny Depp's performance is just different lol he left earth in that film, Del Toro too.. and the soundtrack is great.. Back to the Future trilogy is classic.. the original is obviously super classic.. I really like Part 2 except for the weird first act, their interpretation of the future was mostly a miss, but oh well.. Part 2 is lowkey pretty dark too which kinda works imo.. and I was personally never a fan of Part 3, I'm just not.. but yeah Biff does carry Part 2 lol.. I recently saw The Invisible Man, wish I could say I liked it, but it's not bad.. I think the world of Elisabeth Moss as an actor but I feel like I was missing something.. I personally found some the filmmaking and sound design to be annoying and cliché, but what do I know? lol.. it is a film that I could see myself appreciating more on a second watch if that ever happens.. Species! I always forget about that one.. I saw that film 2-3 times when I was 12-13 and remember loving it, but I honestly don't remember much about it besides Natasha Henstridge.. I see Michael Madsen is in it which is cool.. maybe I'll give it a re-watch one of these days.. never saw any of the sequels..
@@HauntedHippieright.. I'd have to do research, but I know Del Toro gained almost 50 lbs for the role.. and I know a lot of the clothes and props that Depp wears were actually Hunter S. Thompson's..
Do yourself a favor haunted, deep red, the forbidden photos of a morbid suspicion, strip nude for your killer, torso lol there’s so many bangers from Europe I love that genre there’s so much style and nuance
i found House of the Devil and The Lovely Bones extremely boring. HOTD was well directed and acedr but it was to slow for my liking. also glad we agree on The Lovely Bones. that movie was so bad but hey mom and sister liked it so that's something. also i'm a guy but i wouldn't mind being a victim of Tony Todd's Candyman. nobody judge me lol
I felt the same about drive away dolls like i really wanted to like it and it does have enjoyable scenes but felt kinda flat overall and being from texas lol the accent aint the worst ive ever heard
Species 2 is not as good at the first but still fun. Species 3 was straight to dvd and bad. Species 4 was a Syfy channel tv movie and I turned it off after 20 min
Never saw the house of the devil but based on the synopsis you presented - is it loosely based on the Turn of the Screw story? Because that’s exactly how this classic story kicks off ❤
@@HauntedHippie actually I was so inspired by your Video that I already watched the movie in the meantime 😅 I enjoyed it but it took a different turn than what I thought it would be
biff plays a cop in camp nowhere, a very watchable 90's nostalgia time capsule & also stars christopher lloyd.
You're speaking my language, I was obsessed with that film.. watched it for the first time as an adult a couple years ago and it still hit the spot!
I LOVE your take on Tom Wilson! Wholeheartedly agree!!
Species is so nostalgic for me. I remember renting it at a video store in the early 2000s. I haven't watched it since.

Species is silly fun. Here's a fun fact: The young Sil that escapes and gets on the train is played by Michelle Williams
Looking forward for the finally I have watched series. I have a few of those myself.
Yeap , Species is something I wanna watch asap cause I remember that when I did my research for the fly, one of the films that always came up as a follow up inspiration was Species
Oh yeah it is Kylie-Time also known as Cult Meeting Time!!!! frikkin love this channel.
I have just had a rewatch of back to the future the third one is still my favourite
One hell of a video today.
I saw Buffy the Vampire slayer in early 2000s MTV. I think another series was called Angel? I used to watch Buffy, Angel and Jack-Ass in early 2000s MTV, when they were new. I was born in 1989, so in 2002 for example I was 13 years old.

Gothic .. Mary Shelley ... there is also Roger Corman's Frankenstein Unbound (with John Hurt) and probably many others. Wonderful video review as ever

Still need to see Drive
Lmao The Roommate and When a Stranger Calls remake are two movies that I watched during 2020 quarantine after wanting to watch for YEARS. Saying I was disappointed is an understatement 😞
Probably the worst remake ever made
Gothic was released on blu ray by Vestron Video. They have other awesome releases like Dagon, Lair of the White Worm, The Gate and Parents.
Drive-Away Dolls - Margaret Qualley's accent sounded like she was doing a Reba McEntire impersonation
Your accent is so nice. I could listen to you all day. Love from London.
Have you ever watched Tamara (2005)? Highly underrated

"A dark quiet death" if people have apple. Dont need to watch the rest of the series its pretty separate in the characters amd story but ties in themes
for anyone that didn't enjoy the neon demon, I highly recommend "the model". it's the neon demon, more realistic, evil twin sister.
Will you be adding both the leprechaun remakes to your watch as well?

I saw species when I was 9 and I loved it! I still do its such a fun watch. Species gets panned but I think its good lol!
Omg it was so fun
@HauntedHippie Species 2 is....fine. Nowhere near as fun as the first one. After the sequel none of the species movies are worth your time.

I’ve been oddly fond of them tbh
Look it up but the author of lovely bones falsely accused man of SA and issued an apology after he served 16 years in prison
I recommend you Bay of Blood, directed by Mario Bava. Beautifully bizarre movie.

Mr. Burns: "Is she boo-ing me, Smithers?"
Smithers: "No, she's saying 'Boo-urns', 'Boo-urns'!
Mr. Burns, "Shut up, Smithers!"
Ryan gosling showed up to heavy for lovely bones so walberg was recast 😮
i just rewatched jennifers body as well, megan fox was perfect in this role
