This video has proved controversial so I wanted to clarify some of the common threads that keep coming up.!. 1) I was negative as soon as I got on the bike. I would disagree with that , I was actually really impressed about the layout , and had got to the queue to ride one at 6:30am to make sure I did, but in the back of my mind I knew there was more to think about than just the bike, I had a duty to tell the viewers, some of whom may be placing hard-earned cash on buying one of these and I had to share my views on the bike and everything that goes with it. when I mentoned about the slow speed steering being a little odd,as I said it wasn't a negative, infact it was a positive in some ways because it made it less "twitchy" . It was an important observation which didn't corollate to any other bike I have ridden in the past. 2) I was basing all of this on "what happened to my mate" - partly yes,but also I have kept an eye on the forums for the last 2-3 years , he was not alone. and being offroad for 3 months due to parts is totally unacceptable, how would you feel if it was you're only means of transport??? Would you like me to mention this or gloss over it nextime and let people invest there money then cross fingers that they won't be in the same boat? 3) "They must be amazing because they are sold out until 2025" Well OK , but the truth is at the time of writing this there were only 15 in the country with no date for replenishment, so of course they will be sold out and infact some of those 15 were demo dealer bikes anyway. Some people have commented here that their local dealer is saying they wont get any until February.... 8 months away? So yes they are sold out, but the real bigger picture is different than the one portrayed. Overall I really want this bike and brand to work, but so far it's been rocky. This 450 is a nice little bike for many and their has been a lot of hype over it which is great ,but I want to deliver the facts as I see it rather than get "star struck" and "blinkered" by a low cost, high spec bike. What people don't see when watching this is the comments I get 2 years later on videos with people who have had issues and look at me that I never mentioned this even though it was known at the time. I will always bring you my view on things , I have whistle blown in the past and been right most (I think all) of the time . A good example is the moto Morrini brand - Good bikes but again ,no one mentions the parts issue and the fact that finding a dealer is quite complicated!!! So the people who own them now....what happens when it goes wrong!?!?!? This 450 is a good bike, but time will tell if the "whole package" works....I hope so. Reviewing bikes is like painting a picture....it's really hard to bring the good and the not so good and package it to give an over-all view and its something I have done well with over the years and will continue to do so. People want honestly , but when it goes against the grain of what they want to hearit gets a bit salty as my kids would say lol. The 800MT review is coming up, again nice bike partly based on the KTM790 engine which in the past has been known for snapping camshafts...hopfully that has been up-dated now and all will be fine. CFmoto also need to hear these reviews, and they will be watching so it also lets them know where they can improve. Re-sale value is also "I think " a relevant part, If you buy a brilliant Honda NX500 this year for £6800, next year you could sell it for 10% of it's price , could the same be said here? I'm not so sure. I hope CFmoto bring us what we all want from the brand, low cost, highly specified bikes. And I hope they prove reliable and parts will be easy to access in time. Note this review is based on UK infrastructure, not U.S or Australia for example where they are set up better. Cheers E.R
To be honest I didn't think you were biased in your review, you pointed out good and bad. I don't know much about CFMoto as there are no dealers near me stocking the brand. The parts issue does affect other brands, RE have had issues with warranty work, my friend bought a new 411 last year and had to wait over 3 months for a replacement fuel pump via warranty. Resale value is another elephant in the room, if you like changing bikes every 12 months then I think you will take a big hit, I know this is true of all brands but Chinese bikes tend to suffer worst of all. I have nothing against Chinese bikes as I have had a Lexmoto scooter for 6 years now without any issues and spares are easy to get although I've only needed service items. I will watch with interest both Charlie and Nathans experience of the 450MT as this is in a segment of bikes I'm interested in. Keep up the good work
@@exeterrider I want them to do well with this bike to encourage the Japanese and European manufacturers to make something better in the same class. Great to hear your thoughts on it ER 🙂
Steve, we are here exactly because you can give us your personal opinion of a rider with passion for bikes. They are selling as hot cakes at the moment. Just CF moto give to the people exactly what they wanted for years.. If Honda came up with the same bike, we are looking double the price at least.
Yeap exactly Stefan. I hope it works out for them. Although they may be selling well but the last shipment (infact I think it's the first shipment) there was only 15 sent over, with no scheduled delivery date for more as yet.
I'm gonna be frank here. Your attitude coming into this review seemed negative. There was nothing up beat, or completely open about it, which is disappointing. You sounded so uninterested. You should go into it, putting your preconceptions aside, and then make a judgement afterwards. You made a lot of points which were negative based on other peoples experiences but never touched on the good experiences people have had. Do you not think that is biased? I do watch your videos and have done for years, but I am disappointed. I think you should lay out some points before you think about reviewing bikes in the future so it doesn't come across so badly. Your view is your view regardless of what others think, and I respect that, but make a conscious effort to be more unbiased by providing good and bad points that reflect the points you raise. Keep up the good work and God bless. 👍🏿
Thanks but that's the point. Could I recommend this bike.... No I couldn't. If it goes wrong, from info I have gathered over the years, the parts issue, and reliability has been abismal, so that's what I need to go on. As I say the bike is OK, and the spec is good, but that dosent mean I can say it's good be because the whole package isn't there. I wouldn't rant anyone to buy one of these then find out, I wouldn't be doing my job. I was being unbiased and said positive things aswell, but they need to address the other issues, that's the fact. Thanks for watching mate👍📺
@@exeterrider I think you misunderstood what I meant. I was not stating that you need to say it is a good bike. It's the way in which you presented the information and the attitude with which it was stated. Anyone can make a point without sounding uninterested or somewhat resentful which is what you sounded like from the beginning, instead of of just clearing those thoughts and having a bit of positive energy and excitement about reviewing a new bike. Then you could have stated that I will go over the specs and provide my experience from the ride I go on and then give you my judgement based on that ride. Then I will delve into experiences and information I have gathered from others to provide an insight into ownership, maintenance and other issues I feel need to be raised. That would have made the review structured and unbiased. I expect this from any youtuber not just yourself. Maybe you just don't have the enthusiasm to do this anymore or you were just having a bad day but, I expect better. This is not meant to offend you but, provide constructive honesty criticism of your work.
@@risingphoenix1187 I've just had a look at your channel to get some hints on how E/R should be doing it, However, i came away disappointed (but unsurprised)
Understood, I guess I am disappointed that the bike was just OK, but had good specs. but I know I can't recommend it when the rest of the package has been really bad over the years. I take it on board thanks for the feedback, all cool mate👍😎
@@risingphoenix1187this was just ER point of view - his point of view. It’s up to you to go ride one would never buy on anyone’s recommendation but may try one. I would not put money there for a few yrs yet. The fact u didn’t like his criticism seems more biased than his assessment
This is the begenning of the Chinese tidal wave. Whether its motorcycles or electric cars, this is just the begenning of a huge transformation in all things on wheels.
They have flooded the market here in Australia. For under $10k its a pretty good package. No break downs or mechanical issues yet but alot of punters are waiting on aftermarket parts. Some have waited months. I'll wait for a 10,000km review and make my mind from there. 450MT or Hima?
There is a guy who made 10k km trip already with it, including highway, city and offroad usage (like a real adventure bike) and i am honestly on verge of buying one. They are 6k euros here so next year summer i am going to test it and probably buy one. If you put it on paper you get 5 years warranty so i wouldn’t worry about mileage on them. I had previously hyosung gt250 which is by itself rare here and parts are almost nonexistent, yet that little 250 served me better than later italian and lastly japanese bike, so i am willing to give it a go
An interesting take on the MT and CF in general Steve. I wasn’t aware of part supply issues but as a long term Honda rider (44 years of using their bikes all year round) I’ve never waited excessively for a part or had poor back up. My reluctance for the CF brand stems from the nearest dealer being four counties or approximately 109 miles away apparently!
A very interesting and balanced review when you take a lot of other reviews into account, I test rode that same bike at the ABR Festival on the Thursday afternoon, I loved it, light, responsive, a really well thought out bike, I totally agree about back up and spare parts being a concern, but at £5699.00 on the road I was willing to take the risk. I placed a deposit for one first thing the following Monday morning, I was expecting to wait a few months but I collect it next week, the following day all UK stock was sold out. I have been told there may be more UK stock in November.
November seems ages away, will that only be another 15 bikes coming in I wonder? Some people are being told February. Pleas keep me informed , I'll be intrested in knowing what the bike is like after 5k miles or so too. I'm pleased for you. The bike has some real good features.
Just to add... I've now got 700 miles on the clock and I absolutely love this bike. Engine is a peach virtually vibe free (even with the rubbers removed from the footpegs) and the (road) handling is way beyond what I would have expected for a 21" wheeled bike. No complaints with comfort either. Met my first other owner yesterday (West Bay Dorset), got chatting and we are both of the same opinion. Amazing bike and at a price that defies belief. Of course the elephant in the room is will it be reliable? Only time will tell, but I intend to find out. Few grumbles. Throttle at low revs, especially when cold can be snatchy. The Aussies have a re-map to cure it but, presumably because of current Euro emissions, we don't seem to have it (yet). Weird position of high/low beam switch means I'm constantly knocking it accidentally. Front brake does lack feel and needs some force to get it to work, but it certainly does do the job. Possibly a pad swap would help? Not a game changer though. I think the gearing is a little low so put a 15t front sprocket on mine. More of a preference than a grumble though. The built in tracking system that sends you a text every time you move the bike which can be a bit annoying but it's there to warn you if someone's trying to steal your bike so, on the whole, it's got to be a good thing. (It also tracks your bike via GPS and so, if someone does steal your bike, you should be able to see where it is). It can be turned off if you prefer.
I mean, you get what you pay for. It has always been like that. The bike seems decent enough and you get a lot of bike for 6000€ - Brand New. You can't get a decent used bike for that price if you are searching for Honda or any of the popular brands and man, I have some stories for yamaha, kawasaki and other popular brands that will spin your head. Still, love the honesty. People on YT push these to the audience just for a quick pay day without a proper test. Let's see how they'll hold up after 10,000km + Sub deserved :)
I like ER 's videos because he never goes ott about any bike he rides. I think he adopts a pragmatic approach to his review. A bikes a bike, he likes some more than others, he points out what he likes and doesn't like. Says it's his opinion and it may not be yours. Try it for yourself. I will say this though, having spent all my working life in the motor repair trade, reliability and dealer support is a major factor in my buying decision. That's why I drive Honda CRV and ride a Honda CB500 Hornet. Cars and motorbikes are getting increasingly complicated, and difficult and costly to fix so for me reliability is paramount. I think it's fair to say my choice of motorised transport isn't the most exciting mode of transport, but they are well put together with well established dealer support network should you ever need it. Everything's fine until it goes wrong.
I totally get what you are saying there and you're right...I think the more you know about "behind the scenes" of some brands the more many other bikes make sense, and the more one can appreciate the reliable brands. As you say everything is fine until something goes wrong.......Spot on!
@@exeterrider Personally, I would get the Honda 500NX, it's a £1000 more, but you would most likely get most of that back if you sell it compared to CF Moto. Also, a lot of money goes into what you don't see on the showroom floor.
Your point about dealership infrastructure is very valid. Take Denmark for instance. There is only 1 dealer. 5 hour drive from my location. Over a toll bridge. And that dealership is mainly ATVs. They only started selling CFMOTO motorcycles last year. So yeah, while the bike is tempting and 99% of reviews are high praise I do worry about the potential hassle if/when something goes wrong. The 10 hour round trip at highway speeds for service is a huge bummer.
Being in cahoots with KTM wouldn't instil me with much confidence in the CF Moto brand, ER. I'm surprised that spares for the Triumph 400 series are in short supply. I wouldn't have thought they would have been needed yet seeing as the model has only been available for a short time.
Yes, I'm not sure if it's because it's made in India so it's still progressing on the logistics, I'm quietly confident it will work out on with Triumph on the back and will iron out. Yes you are basically buying into KTM service here. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not 👍
Just looked at costs. I wouldn’t risk that much against the tubeless Himmy. In fact I’d possibly rather go for a 410 Himmy! I fully get your points. I guess you weren’t impressed enough to overcome the longer term worries
Thats pretty much it...I need the whole package to be right and know if it goes wrong ,I won't be waiting for what could be months for things to be put right.
I really enjoyed your honest opinion. I just watched your review of the CFMoto, and a friend of mine thought I would be interested. I have the Tiger sports 660, I have had this bike for just over two years and love it. However, I was looking at a second bike for more off-road biking. I went to the bike show up in London this February and sat on the Himalayan 450, I really like it and would like to test ride the bike, plus I like the look of the bike.
Really enjoyed this one Steve. As top gear used to say 'genuine consumer advice' in this case really important. I got burned by Voge changing importers and was lucky to off load that bike at the time. It could have been worth sub 1000. Most dealers wouldn't touch it! Anyway good topic and important for folk to know. I liked the vid
Thanks Sean, I must admit I was so pleased when you got shot of the Voge.. I really did like that bike but a shame it all went to the wall after our hardwork in trying to get the message across it was all in vain. Still everything has turned out well for us both and long may that continue. Turned out to be a controversial video this one, hey ho , you can't please everyone all the time, and I'm only spitting facts and casting my opinions....you wait till you make one like this haha Have a good week.
Exeter Rider I've noticed that you are more credible in your reviews than most other channels same for this video. Really like your content. Also what your thoughts are about CF Moto brand are spot on - they have a long way to go winning trust and confidence with motorcyclists and there are no short cuts to this. Moreover, I think the dealer network, wait times on parts, and also looking at the hype this machine caused (which is a very good machine don't get me wrong) vs how it actually is, makes it just a regular offering and else can be had in this money.
Thanks, that means a lot. I do try to do my best and guide people without being too harsh on the brand, I'm just speaking the truth from my experience and knowledge over the years which I have gathered. It is what it is, and that's how I tell it. Thanks 🙏
I've always found your reviews to be concise and without any bias, highlighting good and bad things that strike you as the rider. It is then up to us to test ride and see if the negatives are an issue with us that would stop us buying the bike.
Lots of comments about the warranty. As I live so far away from civilisation I have that worry about every bike given the distance to the nearest dealers. That worry is also why I ended up with a Honda which is still running trouble-free after 6 years.
It's a good looking machine. Is it the bike that's the ideal compromise between enough power on road and light enough off road? Think Nathan really likes it.
Yes. Nathan has already given it a short review (before his trip to Iceland) and no doubt will do more when he gets back. It was good to finally see it on some typical English "greenlanes". I would suggest anyone looking to buy this bike against the plethora of similar but smaller wheeled and less off road biased bikes, would do well to keep an eye on what Nathan has to say.
Its a damn shame what happened to Ash Tek biker with his MT. He got caught up right in the meley of importer change over. There is no accountability, no one knows anything & he was stuck in the middle without support. I think his service centre screwed him up with replacing the spark plugs by pulling the tank off without checking if the wiring connector & fuel connector had been unplugged. Its the first time that's ever happened on the 650MT ever. No one i know has ever had this issue. More issues from the Kawasaki based engine than the fuel tank. Ignition coils, & dash gear issues are more common than a broken fuel tank harness & fuel line. Now, with another brand, he's a much happier camper. He's down your way.
I've been watching too many hyped up videos talking about how good it is. You make some goods points about the cons. It might be safer to stick with my Honda 300 Rally for now 👍
Hiya, Thanks for the review I just went to my local dealer to look at the 800 the other day, which looked OK but you do make some very valid points, I think I will give it a miss for now.
Thanks Paul, I have a 800MT ride coming up on the channel...its not bad although very "snatchy" on the throttle....Again its just spares back up and service when things go wrong for me. Have a good week : )
Interesting video Steve but I do think things will work out differently with regards resale. The 450 MT, they can't get enough of them. Sold out until 2025. They will hold their value. The Himalayan there's an abundance of bikes. A lot of cancelled orders. It'll be interesting to see how it pans out, but I think it'll be the CF Moto that clings onto the money. The parts situation we'll have to wait and see. I agree a lot of what holds the fledgling bikes back is the parts supply. I know people with Morini 650s that can't get parts. The importers in that regards are poor. But for the Voge 300 Rally you can get everything you need very cheaply. So it's very much importer dependent. Personally I just really liked the bike. Ticked a lot of boxes for me. Shame they weren't allowing the bike around the ABR track. Maybe that would have helped impress it on people. Who knows. Maybe it'll be a dud.
Fair enough mate but in the recent shipment there were only 15 bikes with no date for the next shipment so it makes sense they are sold out tbh. Hopfully it will work out fine but they need to not just sale the bikes, but the parts aswell. The bike was well speced and rode OK, but it's the rest of the package I can't just tell people it's going to be OK when I'm not sure it will be. I do hope you get on well with yours and I know you will give it a proper test. The moto morinei review I did I mentioned about parts and dealer network issues and again said how it was. I do like VOGE bikes. Many thanks Nathan👍
To be fair royal Enfield had a period where you couldn't get warranty parts for the bikes after the switch from moto GB, and that triumph 400 you can't get brake levers or pads at dealers so have to get the KTM alternativs. Hopefully cf moto ups their game beyond where some of the others are currently at. Is 15 bikes total right? The desert I got mine from has had 6 I believe. Seems very low. They've clearly learned the old supply and demand trick from honda when the crf300 came out! Great vid anyway mate .@@exeterrider
Yeap, RE still have a parts issue to my knowledge although I've just bought parts for my meteor and it was 3weeks to the dealer which is OK. I was told by the CF rep there was only 15. Even at the show they only had 2 for people to play on. I expect will get better over time. Hopefully!
If you want to see what this bike is capable of when taking it off road or down the green lanes, I’d recommend looking at Nathan Millward’s channel. The spares and ownership issue can be very subjective, and might have changed significantly since KTM have entered into a collaboration with CFMoto. Time will tell, but seeing as all 450MT’s have now been sold until 2025, at least there’s time to see what the build quality is and how robust all the parts will be.
Yes Nathan will give his a good blast for sure...the "sold out " part dosent mean a lot to me when there was a shipment of 15 units to the UK...They are bound to sell out and no date for the next replenishment. And some of those 15 will be dealer demo bike I expect , so sold out isn't what it really sounds like when there is only 15 units. Some are saying that is it untill February!? So will that mean parts are the same!?!?! This is the point I'm getting at. As you say KTM may turn it around...but not yet it seems.
@@exeterrider I messaged a dealer last week. There’s another shipment coming next month, and then there might be another before the end of the year. All the August ones are sold, and the recommendation was to put down a deposit in case someone cancels. I think waiting until 2025 is wiser as the new KTM 390 should be out, the tubeless Himalayans should be available, and any initial niggles will hopefully be resolved. Plus there might be some other offerings on the market - I’d like to see a Kawasaki 450 using the engine from the ZX / Eliminator.
Your review has a real "weird" vibe to it. I have 1300 km on my 450 here in Poland. I did get unlucky, clutch lever delivered without the pivot bushing pressed in. Got replacement clutch lever, pivot bolt in 5 days. Rear suspension has threaded type adjustments, so it can't be on the "2nd hardest setting." I have no idea what your steering comment is all about? I have 6 bikes right now, and don't feel anything weird getting on the MT450. My only "complaint" is the super short final gearing. I bought this as a lighter dirt capable ADV bike. At 70 is mph the engine revs around 7000 rpm (8500 red line). The rest, so far, is really nice. Time will tell.
That's good, yes the steering as shown did seem very unresponsive to me. I'm glad it's all going well for you. I did cock up saying about the suspension, I should have edited that out. Good news 👍
My video also covers the steering. I was able, at slow speeds, to wiggle the handlebars, and get zero movement. The bike kept going straight, which was most unsettling.
I just sold my KTM 890 Adventure mainly because of all the issues out there. It'll take brave souls and RUclips content creators that buy these bikes and report on them in the coming years to let some of us know how the service and reliability hold up. A friend in Portugal bought one and he will definitely put the bike through its paces. OFFroad-OFFcourse, if anyone wants to follow him. My local Husqvarna/Honda/Yamaha/Kawasaki dealer doesn't carry the CFmoto motorcycles but they carry the side by sides and quads. I'm not sure why that is.
Yes the quads are/were a different distributer. Not sure how it works now KTM have taken over. I think the 800mt shares the top end with the 890 isn't that right? Could be wrong. But I have heard they snap and is a known issue. Hopfully not! 😏
@@exeterrider The cam issue was a concern, I had mine checked before I sold it and luckily my bike was in good shape. I serviced my bike meticulously and being the standard model I wasn’t thrashing it in punishing terrain like some riders do the R model. Shortly after I bought the bike I was talking to the shop I bought it from about some of the things I’d heard about the TFT being susceptible to moisture on the inside and asked about the bikes’ reliability and his response to me was along the lines of “Did you buy the extended warranty? That might be a good idea.” I told him that he wasn’t making me feel good about my purchase and the bike has a two year warranty. I knew at that point that the bike wasn’t going to be a long term bike for me and I replaced it with a Tenere 700. I would lump CFmoto into a similar situation if they are having KTM handle things for them. I’m usually harassed with stuff like, “If you want performance this is what you’ll have.” Luckily I’m in my late 50’s, reliability trumps performance bragging rights for me.
The bike has a 21inch front wheel hence the steering isn’t sharp like a sports bike. I’ve done 1,000 kilometres on mine so far and it’s a great bike💯 Test rode the Himalayan and the 450MT kills it. It’s awesome off road so using your “gut feel” isn’t great feedback 😂
I'm surprised by the opinions of others. I completely understand your point of view, and I think it's good that you talk about it, because you can't buy a motorcycle or anything with great excitement, you have to think everything through. I once owned a Chinese motorcycle, and I had trouble buying a gear lever. Even though I really want to buy this cfmoto, I will wait a year and see what things will look like.
It's surprised me that people want honesty , but when hearing something they don't want to hear that has been backed up many times in the past like your gear lever issue, they kick back.......maybe in time it will make more sense to them but for now they will kick back. I'm here to tell it as it is in my eyes, the bikes ok but I'm not going to rave about something that can be problematic. Thanks E.R
What I mean really is that the suspension seems to be set up for light off road as opposed to others where the suspension seems to be more comfortable on heavier, rougher terrain. Always happy to entertain 👍
@@exeterrider Quite a few reviewers say the suspension seems a little hard but the have found it comes into its own at higher speeds off road. It's fully adjustable though.
Hi Steve, great to meet you last month at Jolly's and congrats on getting the meteor (I thought you would) I found on ebay the marsh grey classic I said I was looking for and made an offer today and accepted, so picking up Friday and no I'm not going to get rid of the himi, I just can't 😂. @@exeterrider got the classic, 120 mile ride home on A303 and when joined the M5 at Exeter the north bound wasn't moving and lots of blue lights apparently they stopped the south bound shortly after, then a coach had broken down on hamlin way and luckily I got home and the sky's opened just after so I missed that. Great bike and only 800 miles on the clock so still running it in. Went to Plymouth Hoe via the lanes today and kept up with the bigger bikes, so all good. 😎👌 Please don't let negative comments get you down buddy. Stay safe
So happy for you Mark.... Yes I notice Exeter was clogged up that day. No doubht I'll run into you at some point, I'll forget this conversation knowing me, my brain is terriable... But over the moon and back.... The line for that bike just grows, as it does on my meteor... I love it, see you sometime👍👍
Good honest review 👍, in time, hopefully they will get better with after sales parts service etc.... but looks good. I didn't get chance to test ride one at ABR. But I did test ride the Himalayan 👍
First review i have seen that would chose the Himalayan over the CF Moto. Not saying you are wrong. Just the first. But not all want this bike and have to consider all of what you are saying. As i am kind of lucky, i have more CF Moto dealers near me than Suzuki dealers. I have 3 CF Moto dealers within the same distance i have only 1 Suzuki dealer. Which is odd for the USA. But zero bikes of mine have ever seen a dealer except for when I purchase them them. I do all my work...100% of it. I have done all the 180mph sport bikes. Riden cruisers. All i need is this CF Moto 450..i wont get bored with it. All i own now is my most loved bike i have had in 40 years of riding. Also the most reliable, my DRZ400. So thats all i need. A power to weight ratio adv bike that meets the power to weight ratio of my DRZ, and will 80 mph on the highway hers. I have massive dealer support and custom make most my own stuff. So all good. All my bikes i have owned. Since i was 15 years old, now 54, all the bikes i never buy and consider resale value. I only consider Smile value while owning it. The engine has been out now 3 years and no issues. Decent in anyones book. Im sold and just waiting die it to get here.
I did, I try to max out on everything, but as you know when you get home, you really feel wiped out...Smae again next year though. Highlight of my year.
I wish MT650 had a chassis like this. Instead it's a pure road bike. There's also a GT650 pretty much the same as the MT650 - both are road bikes, I don't really know what the difference is. Confusing naming conventions :/ The 650 twin would be a sweet spot imho, providing sufficient power for road use and sufficient torque for dirt, still in a compact package. Something like Versys650 in an adventure package (like what they did with the Versys300).
Nathan the postman has one. I believe he has taken it to Iceland and won't be treating it with kid gloves. So far he loves it. I agree with a comment below, you seem to have started from the word go with a totally negative attitude to the bike, even before throwing a leg over it. Weird because you are normally upbeat and don't start off from the get go so negatively. Were you having a bad day?
Nope I just know the spares back up and relibuilty isn't too even minimum level. The bike can be as good as it wants but if you don't have the important skeleton framework then when it goes wrong you're doomed. Not acceptable, I need to tell people how it is with the bigger picture, not just the bike itself which is just OK.
Nathan the postman sings the praises of every Chinese bike. He’s also got a warehouse full of discontinued 200cc Chinese bikes he’s trying to flog. Go figure. Follow the money.
@@volt8684 I thought so as well ,such as the balancing shaft being superb, handling/corning being nice.......I dont see why people can't see the positives I also mentioned....still hey ho ,what can you do!?!?
nice take and some very helpful information regarding the potential issues of owning one. No-one has the right not to be offended and if you want to give an opinion you are bound to offend someone.
Thanks ,yes , just my take on it,and I can't recormend one to anyone based on others issues and experiance....waiting 3 months for parts is relevant to me. Cant please all the people all the time ha!
Great video mate ❤ But if your mates experience was pre KTM takeover maybe it would be better to judge CF Moto post takeover because the situation may be improved .
This motorcycle looks nicer in the flesh than the Himalayan. Seen a lot of reviews about the MT CF MOTO with very good feedback. ( Yes I know this is your point of view )
Yeap I hope it does well. I hear the next delivery is March 25. I question how quick parts will be if needed for people who have the bikes now. I wouldn't want to take the risk myself. Thanks for your time watching 👍
I bought a Tiger GT pro in 22 and had a few issues. At 400 and some odd miles check engine, DO NOT RIDE came on. Trailered the bike 3 hours and they said there’s no problem, that will be $250! I said WTF! And they dropped $100. Well that was mighty big of them! Later on, a bolt backed out of the windscreen. Very specialized and specific. 3 weeks! My own fault, I cobbled my own bolt and washer which cracked the screen eventually and now I have a Puig. I worked in a BMW/Yamaha dealer In my youth and we had isles and isles of parts. Seems that’s not cost effective any more.
That 'thing' you were doing with the handlebars at the beginning of the video reminded me of a 1930's B&W movie 'in car' shot 🙂 I disagree, you didn't even need to get into first gear for me, as soon as I saw your view from the saddle (apologies I believe they are called 'seats' these days 😁) I knew it wasn't for me. The switch gear and handlebar 'quality' speak volumes. I could not live with that view from the saddle for a minute, let alone all day. Keep being you. Ignore the haters. 👍
@@exeterrider My best mate was a driving instructor back in the day, and lots of learners used to 'rock' the steering wheel, his 'line' was 'Keep the wheel straight, this isn't a B&W 1930's movie' 🤣 I've just watched Rest Day Riders video. (I am subscribed but it's difficult to watch everything 🤔) She seems well impressed. To be fair it does look better in blue. In her shoes I'd buy a 'previously owned' CB500x if I'm honest, the earlier one not the new one. But who wants to see another CB500x video on YT? 😲😲😲 Well, I do but it doesn't exactly 'sell' does it...🙁
Apparently the CFmoto MT 450 has sold out within a couple of days! I like the looks of it better to the KTM! It's not just CF moto which said parts problem, as you stated Triumph with the 400, but other manufacturers as well a friends Moto Guzzi is waiting for brake parts, my Givi panniers arrived a couple of days after ordering them, but it took Givi nearly 3 months to supply the frames 😵💫just as well it was winter!
They have only sold out because there were 15 sent on the first ship load and no news of when the next one was coming in. Yes since the dreaded ,many brands have issues with parts but more so some of the chinese brands and products.
Hmmmm! Much of what you say certainly holds water. The product MAY (or may not) be good but without backup or spares it's pretty hopeless. If the C*inese are keen to break into the market they could solve those issues if they so wanted, They're big enough and powerful enough to to it, I wonder why they don't? The bikes have vastly improved over the years but the essentials behind the scenes... not so much! Good review mate, saying it like it is..... CF Moto? Too many "what ifs" for me i'm afraid. They'll get it right one day for sure, just not quite yet......👍
"Too many what ifs". Very well put. What if you have a bit of a topple... Do a little bit of damage... And you can't buy the bits to rectify the damage. That's simply no good. And that's the point. It then doesn't matter how good it rides, how smooth it is, or how fantastic it sounds. If it's off the road due to crappy after sales backup, then it's a rubbish prospect for sure. When considering a bike for potential ownership it's essential to think about every single aspect. I'm with ER on this one... Let the early adopters test the water, then decide.
How did this compare to the Voge you rode last year mate? 🤔 I didn't even look closely at these at the ABR this year, meant to go back & never, but they are pretty attractive looking bikes! 👍😎
I'm off the road for 2 months so far with my 1 year old 300 rally, top end let go at 11 months and 19,000 klm, parts due in September, Honda Australia useless, the dealer useless, pick up a MT 450 tomorrow. Surley lighting doesn't strike twice.
@@thepeakybiker nope, not until I know I can get parts and reliability is known and proved. Thats why at the moment I couldn't recommend one to anyone, it would be unfair on them and I wouldn't be doing my job.
You can't just base your opinion on one case. Triumph in brasil has no real assistance (the frames are breaking), i had a tdm 850 and the camshaft broke whenn it had 50000k. I leaft it in the fields and sold most of the parts. Then i had a 2008 KAWASAKI VERSYS 650 as daily driver. The frame rusted quicker than yhe abandoned yamaha. KTM has problems with their 790/890 engines and it's a pain for the brand/dealer to assume. I now have a fx650 honda. I could go on and one with cases that left the owners waiting for response or parts for months. Give the new brand some slack. You get a lot of bike for the money with cfmoto. Thanks for the video.
Thanks yes, I'm happy to give slack and hope it gets better now KTM are on the case, before now it's not been good enough. If people are off the road for months due to simple parts not being avaliable then I need to make people aware of that or else I'm not doing my job. Yes the 890 engines with snapping camshaft isn't good, I think the CFMoto 800 Mt shares this engine dosent it? If that's the case do I mention this? Seems the right thing to do. Thanks though I take the comments on board but I can't suger coat things from built up knowledge over the last few years. Thanks 👍🙏
@@exeterrider cfmoto 800 has the same engine but with no issues (they build the ktm engines), some ktm guys are rebuilding their engines with cfmoto camshafts and heads. You get what you ordered. If ktm wants to cuts expenses and order something cheaper, thats what they will get. I dont have or had a cfmoto but i try to see things without a filter. These days manufactures are asking chinese factorys like cfmoto and locin to build they parts, mixing with kyb, bosch, brembo, etc parts. They put their chips also on design and for me mt450 is one sexy bike. I absolutely hate ktm designs, harley, voge, benelli, kove, etc... suzuki went vintage look, yamaha and honda are the ones trying to put some effort... it's not the case of sugar coat or shit coat. I am hapilly wishing you can (in the near future) change your mind... or in the worst cenario i can come upfront and give you promps to your review. cheers and sorry for my poor english...
Avoid cf moto until they have established themselves with a reputable dealer network and spares. I know two people who had similar bad experience, couldnt get dealer to fix, no spares. Lets hope other manufacturers get the message this is the bike spec we all crave.
i enjoyed looking at a bike while i shopped for water jugs, gas containers, ammo and how to make alcohol, with what just happened last week to you guys in the election, i think it will be worse here by Nov! so shopping and prepping. lol
The CFmoto has fully adjustable suspension and its KYB the Himmi has non adjustable Showa I have rode both and both bikes are about the same on road but the CFmoto kills the Himmi off road due to the suspension adjustment but you need to change the tyres on both to a good set of Motoz or similar to get the best out of it.
I'm usually well on board with the type of review that Exeter rider gives, but in this case a quick ride at the ABR Festival doesn't justify the negative comments.
Ive been keeping an eye on the brand for years. And this isn't a full review, but I have enough gathered over those years for the negatives and the positives mention aswell in my eyes. Fair enough though 👍
Are you sure the handlebars were connected?🤣 Seen a few videos on these, they seem to be ok for the money. They sound lovely, will be interested to see how reliable they are, what it's like for getting bits, and how they honour the warranty. I will be interested to see how these Voge DSX900 are when they arrive. Nice vid Steve Oh, Rest Day Rider has hers already. Got it the day after it arrived at the dealer I think
Several reviewers including MCN have taken this bike of road. Your negative overall sentiment is surprising given the performance and value on offer notwithstanding the limited dealership network.
Not just that but remember the relibuilty issues of past bikes, and people being off the road for 3 months due to no parts being avaliable, and camshafts breaking often in the MT800.... I can't sweep those issues under the carpet. Your basiclly buying a KTM. Many have said id buy one of these but not a KTM, but it's pretty much the same thing 👍
Im looking at part-ex'ing my 2016 CB500X for this. Having a look in SP motorcycles in exeter today to see what they can do. As you say im a bit nervous about the brand being chinese, and KTM doesn't fill me with confidence thanks to my racing days. Hopefully they're up and comers like the japanese big 4 were 60 years ago and we're just ahead of the curve. I dont want to be left with buyers remorse. Hmmm, choices choices.
Yes, well, who knows, you won't be able to get one until next year anyway. You basically buying a KTM to be honest. Myself, I wouldn't take that risk. But it's your decision 👍
@@martingicemi8745 KTM are in big trouble with profits warnings and possible insolvency. I can't recommend a bike and put my viewers in a sticky spot. No sparez or even any bikes for months ahead. It's just facts mate!? It's what it is 👍
Very nice a more than competitive on price especially with the low APR deals being offered I could put one on the road for around half the deposit and monthly payments of a Himalayan 😊no wonder they’re selling well. However the dealer network is sparse to say the least. I live in Morpeth just north of Newcastle and my nearestCF Moto dealer is around 100 miles away hence service and warranty work would be a complete chore. 🤔
Thank you. A honest review on a much hyped up bike saying what most experienced riders will be thinking. A four year warranty is only as good as the dealer network and parts availability. Two red flags for me already, 3000 mile service intervals and KTM’s involvement. I’ll be interested in owners 20,000 mile reviews in a year or two’s time.
Thanks ,Yes I will be watching closely as well, which infact is why I have been watching closely already over the last 2 years or so and why this video turned out the way it did lol
the bike has a glaring issue not many reviewer is saying which is uderstandable as they don't have the bike for long to know or experienced this issue. the issue is the lean fuelling making intermittent stalling while clutched in on low gears, people should know it's dangerous and is a deal breaker (at least for me), I have dumped the bike in my garage due to it and almost hit a car few days ago also due to it. No official word from Cfmoto if a fix ia coming although rumors says the NZ owners already have it in their first service but until then, be aware of this issue.
Id like to know how the hold up over time in both terms of durability and depreciation?j, what will the used market be like?, and the £5k question will it rust???, just because it’s built in the same factory as KTM and Yamaha does not make it one… not criticisms im in the market and on the fence re Chinese products of any type.
Very fair review and comments on supply of parts. A big corporation from China with their out put should be able to deliver in this day and age. I'd like to see a 400-500 cc Honda Transalp or Suzuki V-Strom. In particular the Suzuki as it's now a parallel twin not V which I presume is cheaper to produce. This time next year this bracket will be my 2cnd or 3rd bike. So I hope the Japanese move into this market.
Exactly. I've been waiting patiently and angrily for a 450cc or 650cc parallel twin KLR650 or DR650 Enduro for a very long time. I've always wanted a KLR650, because it's a heavy clunker that is useless, and awesome. But I've always loathed the single cylinder engine, and I've always thought, if it just had a higher revving parallel twin, it would be a joy to ride. A parallel twin is an infinitely better motor for a road legal motorcycle. Single cylinder motorcycles should not be built anymore for road legal motorcycles.
@@starseeddeluxe I see where you are coming from single cylinder wise. I'm getting a 350 Classic Thursday tho. If there was a 500cc twin by Royal Enfield or Honda or Suzuki I'd look at them too.
spec wise but the overall package I'm not so sure. The Himalayan also has Showa suspension which is really good and suited to off-road, I'm not sure the the MT has as good suspension myself in comparison.
@@exeterrider I agree it’s a bit of an unknown about the long term ownership experience. However the reviews I’ve seen seem to point at good on and off road capabilities. Would it be buy one over a Himalayan? I’d think I would wait a bit and see.
I'm not so sure, the only thing that is better than the Himalayan is the double balancing shaft that gets rid of the vibes, its superb.....But the Himalayans suspension for example is superb.
The Himalayan is streets ahead of the 450MT in terms of ride. I've managed to ride the Himmy on and off road, and the 450 only on road. I was SO impressed with the Himmy. Granted, the tyres weren't good for grass, but DAMN, they stick to the road like glue. Even with slippy tyres, the Himmy was a joy to ride and a friend of mine - multi-times Enduro champion - took it for a test ride and tried to break it. He couldn't. It took everything he threw at it, and he's been like 'Get this bike'.
I think your spot on with this brand and spare parts.the 4 year warranty don't change nothing as most riders would trade in after 3 years anyhow to avoid the first mot.I picked up my Himalayan 450 from cms last Saturday.
These bikes are cheap in NZ so if they don`t end up performing as well as they are specified then trade up to something better, i.e KTMs 25 ADV390 or something along those lines. I get a new bike every year and don`t experience the failures the haters talk about. I know the trade in values suck but hey thats life. Currently ride the 2024 Duke 390 with all the new powerparts added, looks great and goes like a bat outa hell the QS is butter smooth, will trade it on a new bike next year, life goes on. Ride safe😁.
On the subject of losing money on a bike pay £24k for GS now and in 3 years you will lose more than you will on a CF Moto. I changed from. GS to an 800MT Explore purely initially as I could no way afford a new GS. I’ve been far from disappointed with my Explore does it for me and the dealer I had it from The Bike Sanctuary have been brilliant as far as after sales and back up. I’d like to ride the 450 and I’m sure will get the chance at some point I’ve done bike reviews and to be honest you need them for a few days not an hour to tell what they are like I bought aBMM F900 XR after an hours ride. Worst thing I ever did.
Hi , Thanks for posting, I have watched some of you're vids including the 2000mile one. Yes I get what you mean...I just can't get the confidence if they can't get the bikes then parts will likely have the same lead time and thats been proved before...when you're bike is off the road we all want it fixed ASAP...Thanks for watching and keep enjoying you're MT. steve
Hi Exmouth, watched this one last night. One thing I noticed was that it seemed to be revving pretty high at 60 mph in sixth gear. The Himalayan 411 critics want a bike that will cruise at 70 mph for some reason. My guess is that this bike will be pretty busy at 70 mph, thereby failing in the one thing you would expect it to do better than the Himalayan 411 and 452. I think most owners in the UK would be looking to go one larger on the front sprocket because then, in theory, this bike COULD BE a motorway tourer. I think CF Moto should have geared it up a bit for the UK market, judging by what I saw in this video. Apart from the somewhat low gearing for motorway work, I imagine that this is a pretty decent bike. Unfortunately, as you say, that doesn't really matter if you have no confidence in the brand, the resale values and the longer term parts backup. It's a shame really. It looks like CF Moto did a decent job with this bike but unfortunately we're still at the point where you'd have to be pretty brave to go out and buy one. A nice little review and thanks for getting up early to book the test ride mate ! Love from Spain, Garry & Ruby
I replied to this and its gone! Yes I tend to agree, a different cog could help, but to be honest it felt OK to me at the higher end,,,VERY smooth at higher revs, it was impressive in that department. I wouldn't want to risk my money on something which may be a issue 2-3 years down the line.
@@exeterrider It's a real shame that the 452 is so vibey at motorway speeds. It has the performance to do it but the vibes are going to make any long distance motorway stint pretty unpleasant. It's a real shame. Otherwise I think I would have probably gone for one, mainly for the tubeless rims and of course the added long distance capability should I ever need it. This bike probably is the unicorn that a lot of people were waiting for. The near perfect lightweight ADV bike. Capable for touring and off-road shenanigans. But unfortunately it has the wrong badge on the tank for many of us ! Cheers Dave, Albert and Macie
Generally speaking. People are adding a tooth to the front sprocket though it's a bit of a trade off. Most of us, UK owners, are still running our bikes in, so it's a bit difficult to form a proper opinion, but seems highly likely to me.
I've only heard of the chassis breaking once on a old viral video and it was a 411 not the 450 Himalayan. Nathan is entitled to his opinion like anytime else. If it were my money I'd go for the Himalayan like many others would, it's up to the consumer which way they want to spend there money.
@@g4joe its two bikes, caused by shoddy aftermarket engine guards that the bolts were not toqued correctly. The engine guards required removing the top engine mount bolt to install the engine guards. You are making it sound like stock bikes are breaking in half, which is bollocks
Regarding bikes from China,, Iv owned a Chinese bike (and indeed am married to a Chinese wife so have no real beef) but I heard yesterday that alot of WP bikes have not been able to get spares at all because the Chinese engine manufacturer had gone bust,,so if there bike required something thats it scrap....And regarding CFmoto ,,I had one of there scooters in China in 2009,,it was ok and they have come on ,,,But I would not want to layout good money,,,maybe in a few years when the resale value is better
Yes ,WP are still selling bikes with no mention of this....people will be paying big money then throwing them in the bin...very sad and it shouldnt be allowed to be sold, but the sales guys say nothing . Thats where whistle blowers com in and save the day.
Partially down to too much slack in the throttle cables from the factory, it's quite well documented.. 10 mins with an 8mm &10mm spanner can sort it. You'd think the dealers would sort it at PDI but I had the same with my Voge.
ER I feel you should only give your impressions of the bike and brand rather than what your mates problems and views are of these Chinese bikes! I did feel that you were dissing it before even getting a few miles done 🤪 The old saying is “Don’t knock it till you’ve tried it” From what I’ve seen the build quality looks better than the new himmy and you’ve said yourself that the vibes are much less! 👌🏻 It does look good using my eyes and they are old wise eyes 🤣 Do a long term review of the 800 & 450 as I would like your opinion on them. King Regards, DCT Dave & Butty Bach 🙂
Hi Dave, it's not just based on my mates issues which there was a list, but also based on running information I have gathered the last few years, and its been a choppy run. I can't recommend a bike knowing the background foundation is sub standard should anything go wrong. I gave the positives of the bike but for me, when giving an opinion of a bike you are kinda "painting a picture", and it would be unprofessional for me to paint the picture saying the bike is fantastic but then the important point of parts etc just slides by. When I got on the bike there were no pre-conceptions , and some elements of it were really good as mentioned but I wouldn't want someone to buy one (note some people are saying no bikes till February!! , so if a new bike breaks I expect the parts may not come for the same amount of time....maybe! = not acceptable to be off the road for that long) I don't think the quality is better than the Himy tbh,its about the same ,or slightly better on the Himy I'd say. The suspension is far better on the Himalayan for sure. (Showa) I'd like to do a long term on the bikes but no chance now ha.... Hope your all well , and I take your points onboard: )
Hello my friend ER, I take into account all you have said good & bad about the brand & the bike, it is relatively new to me this brand of motorcycle & I have read that they started in 1989 😳 The initial look of these new models to me looks like they’ve got the styling bang on for adventure, they are using older KTM engines I believe 🤔 if they’ve improved on the electrics then they could be good! CF Moto recon on 30 dealerships in the UK and as these are now entering the realms of the big boys with supposedly premium products, and as these are new models there is naturally going to be a shortage of service & parts, until they get themselves sorted out! I myself am wary of Chinese products but they don’t arf learn fast & we can only judge these models as of the present day. Open minded I am 🙂
Unless you ride it off road you can’t commit on how it rolls here in Australia we actually ride in remote areas as we are a big country , the uk would fit into OZ ;32 times, I often wonder where you guys adventure ride , if you want decent test check out the Aussie reviews, simple.
We do have 1000s of miles off decent offroad lanes here, as good as Aus but different terrain👍 It would have been nice to go offroad on it but in the UK, people tend to buy offroad bikes but only 10% ever actually ride them offroad
Thats why I find it difficult to recommend one...I'd hate to say its fantastic, they spend the money ,get a problem and then are off the road for however long with it. If they are saying the next shipment is February to some people...that may or may not be the same with parts. Shame really.
Dealer networks are what it's about. Very few dealers, no spares, no stock ... just long wait times. Nobody wants that, especially if the machine is a relied-upon workhorse.
For all my 21 BS4 411 may lack, I still feel it doesn't justify any charge, whether 452 or as here 450MT, should I ever at 65+ a few years and it's unlikely given finances make a change would be a 650, yet the current BSA would I want another single...! Hey ho. Dealerships are everything on purchase, a make or break for any manufacture, let alone supply of stock and parts. My experience their happy Selling whatever you're after, once off the Forecourt unless it's Servicing, different story. AJP Pr's and SWM (SV.VM) name 2 which dropped through the cracks on Importers/Dealers. RDR.. Charlie has tried the rest, including the 452 and the 450MT met and offered the best option, including the Dealership. She still has Roger 411..fresh back off The Picos de Europa.. I'm off to watch Part 2.. Cheers Dewi
@@exeterrider Yep, the breakpoint on this or any bike is Warranty and Parts from Manufactures and Dealer Service. I'd issue with nearest Dealer in supplying 411, got directly from MotoGB's outlet, since travelling to another Dealer, other than 1st Service, showed no interest in further help as not their bike, even at time supplied new Battery, didn't like doing warranty on Calipers.. told take it back to MotoGB.. think reading between the lines there lies an issue with network and what's happening with MotoGB...! Stay safe. Cheers Dewi
Yep, definitely have no trust on CFmoto at the moment. As you mentioned here, getting parts in if any issues takes months as it’s all shipped from over seas. It was 4 Years Warranty on my 650MT. Started good within 1st year and then ended up going down hill from there. Did not help that the distribution changed from Quadzilla to KTM. As that was a rocky transfer. As its ended up having to move dealer.
@AshTek_Biker Good to hear from a owner, and supports what I was saying. I hope they sort the issues out. It wouldn't be right if me to dress it up for people to buy, then find out about these issues. I'm being honest and that's what part I play here.
@@exeterrider Ya I do hope they prove us wrong. With KTM as the distributer here in the UK, I am seeing improvements. But they are not there yet in my opinion. Parts availability really need looking into. Cant even buy parts your self without going to a dealer. No sites to do it. Compare to say Honda where there is a parts site in UK.
The nice sound is an understatement. It's the best sounding 450cc ever made, especially because 450 singles generally are the worst sounding bikes made. Having a 270 degree parallel twin 450cc with no engine vibes, a feather light clutch pull, and a beautiful sound, makes it one of the best 450cc Enduros ever made.
Well if what you say is true I would be happy to buy second hand from someone who is scared of maintenance and parts. Ps. This bike is way better off road than your favourite Himalayan. The best part is that I more bikes gives us customers more for the buck.
@@exeterrider I’m sure you’ll agree that wheel size is only part of the equation. Many 21” equipped bikes are far livelier turners. Tyre width, geometry and bulk/weight distribution all matter.
Undoubtedly good looking, rides ok but I am with you no confidence in back up or reliability. However loved to be proved wrong. Nathan the Postman will punish his and if something breaks we will see the response. It’s ok having written 4 yr warranty but is it worthy. I am happy for others to take the risk for a few years. The other unknown is depreciation. To me there’s so many fantastic 1&2 yrs old branded bikes for a few quid more. There are quite a few European vloggers giving thumbs up😅😅
Well that all felt a bit pre judged. A fored had issues so thats it the whole brand can't be trusted ? At the start of the year triumph owners were waiting 6 months for parts , so you best tell they world they cannot be trusted either. I know we are all different but having ridden the himilayan 450 I found it a very poor engine that shook the whole bike and personally I wouldn't recommend one to anyone. The whole I had a friend who is pretty lazy and poor approach.
Is what it is, in the past the service hasn't been up to standard. No pre judgement on the bike, that's obvious, but the rest of the "package" hasn't been to even minimum standard, not just based on one experience, but others as well.

@@HippoDrones couldn't agree more, it gives the others a carrot to keep prices low and spec high 👍
@@exeterrider yup

This is the begenning of the Chinese tidal wave. Whether its motorcycles or electric cars, this is just the begenning of a huge transformation in all things on wheels.
Maybe, but its always been a little unsteady with the chinese brands coming in ,then changing at the top and starting again...business I guess.
They have flooded the market here in Australia. For under $10k its a pretty good package. No break downs or mechanical issues yet but alot of punters are waiting on aftermarket parts. Some have waited months.
I'll wait for a 10,000km review and make my mind from there. 450MT or Hima?
👍
I’m in the same boat. Leaning towards the himi at the moment but let’s see these 10,000km reviews
Thats is quite a distance for servicing. Honda are pretty good on parts.
Good post, thanks for that, yes it seems we're all pretty much thinking the same thing. Thanks for your time 👍
I mean, you get what you pay for.
Let's see how they'll hold up after 10,000km +
Sub deserved :)
Thanks Simon, much appreciate the comment and coming on board. I hope I can serve you well.
Yeap and certainly not a viable option in your case for that reason 👍
Being in cahoots with KTM wouldn't instil me with much confidence in the CF Moto brand, ER.
I'm surprised that spares for the Triumph 400 series are in short supply. I wouldn't have thought they would have been needed yet seeing as the model has only been available for a short time.
Yes, I'm not sure if it's because it's made in India so it's still progressing on the logistics, I'm quietly confident it will work out on with Triumph on the back and will iron out.
Yes you are basically buying into KTM service here. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not 👍
@MotorbikesandMusic good info there, it's interesting to see how they are rolling out across the world.
They are also in cahoots with Yamaha
Just looked at costs. I wouldn’t risk that much against the tubeless Himmy. In fact I’d possibly rather go for a 410 Himmy! I fully get your points. I guess you weren’t impressed enough to overcome the longer term worries
Thats pretty much it...I need the whole package to be right and know if it goes wrong ,I won't be waiting for what could be months for things to be put right.
Hey there exeter rider thanks for your honest opinion
Pleasure thanks for watching 👍
I really enjoyed your honest opinion. I just watched your review of the CFMoto, and a friend of mine thought I would be interested. I have the Tiger sports 660, I have had this bike for just over two years and love it. However, I was looking at a second bike for more off-road biking. I went to the bike show up in London this February and sat on the Himalayan 450, I really like it and would like to test ride the bike, plus I like the look of the bike.
the 660 is a superb engine...hard to beat really. The Himalayan does handle really well.
Turned out to be a controversial video this one, hey ho , you can't please everyone all the time, and I'm only spitting facts and casting my opinions....you wait till you make one like this haha
Have a good week.
I had CFmoto and had so much trouble. Moved to a Honda and now 🤞 I have hassle free riding. :)
You cannot beat a Honda for reliability.
I sat on one and was surprised at how light it was. I think it looks good. It's something for me to consider in the future.
Yeap, give it a try, it rides OK with limited vibes👍
It's a good looking machine. Is it the bike that's the ideal compromise between enough power on road and light enough off road? Think Nathan really likes it.
Yeap it runs quite well but it's the rest of the package which have let them down in the past.
Will it change? I hope so 👍
Yes. Nathan has already given it a short review (before his trip to Iceland) and no doubt will do more when he gets back. It was good to finally see it on some typical English "greenlanes". I would suggest anyone looking to buy this bike against the plethora of similar but smaller wheeled and less off road biased bikes, would do well to keep an eye on what Nathan has to say.
what about the fuel consumption between cf 450 MT and Himalayn 450?
I didn't have the CF long enough to find out 👍
Its a damn shame what happened to Ash Tek biker with his MT.
Yeap exactly👍
You summed it up nicely.
@AshTek_Biker thanks
I've been watching too many hyped up videos talking about how good it is.
You make some goods points about the cons.
It might be safer to stick with my Honda 300 Rally for now 👍
I think so, bullet proof
Hiya, Thanks for the review I just went to my local dealer to look at the 800 the other day, which looked OK but you do make some very valid points, I think I will give it a miss for now.
Thanks Paul, I have a 800MT ride coming up on the channel...its not bad although very "snatchy" on the throttle....Again its just spares back up and service when things go wrong for me. Have a good week : )
Rearview mirror, when using speed, can you see it (does it shake)?
No. It's fine.
@@exeterriderthank you
Interesting video Steve but I do think things will work out differently with regards resale.
Hopefully!
Nicely done!
@@flatcapcaferacer thanks 🙏👍
@@peakrider4886 There seem to be a lot of mixed messages concerning the next shipment. We will see.
Your review has a real "weird" vibe to it. I have 1300 km on my 450 here in Poland. I did get unlucky, clutch lever delivered without the pivot bushing pressed in. Got replacement clutch lever, pivot bolt in 5 days.
Rear suspension has threaded type adjustments, so it can't be on the "2nd hardest setting."
I have no idea what your steering comment is all about?
Yes, perhaps there was an issue with the test bike because mine has no steering issues whatsoever. Indeed it handles much better that I'd expected.
That might be a good idea.”
I told him that he wasn’t making me feel good about my purchase and the bike has a two year warranty.
I knew at that point that the bike wasn’t going to be a long term bike for me and I replaced it with a Tenere 700.
I would lump CFmoto into a similar situation if they are having KTM handle things for them.
I’m usually harassed with stuff like, “If you want performance this is what you’ll have.”
Luckily I’m in my late 50’s, reliability trumps performance bragging rights for me.

Glad you liked it that's good👍
I'm surprised by the opinions of others.
Thanks E.R
I’m chuckling that you nailed this as a light gravel bike 😂
What I mean really is that the suspension seems to be set up for light off road as opposed to others where the suspension seems to be more comfortable on heavier, rougher terrain.
Always happy to entertain 👍
@@exeterrider Quite a few reviewers say the suspension seems a little hard but the have found it comes into its own at higher speeds off road. It's fully adjustable though.

Good honest review 👍, in time, hopefully they will get better with after sales parts service etc.... but looks good. I didn't get chance to test ride one at ABR. But I did test ride the Himalayan 👍
Awesome, congrats, I rate them highly.
Good post DRz , and Thanks for watching the vid.

Enjoyed that mate. Wow you definitely fitted a lot in at the ABR! 👌🤗🏍️🎥🍺
Confusing naming conventions :/
The 650 twin would be a sweet spot imho, providing sufficient power for road use and sufficient torque for dirt, still in a compact package. Something like Versys650 in an adventure package (like what they did with the Versys300).
The Versys 650 is a superb bike as is the 1000 : )
Test rode one in Australia the other day great bike...could use a bit more power, but otherwise great value for money

Hi Steve, as we discussed at the ABR, trust in the product is low. I'd say review again in 12 to 18 months
Yeap, it will be intresting to see how it goes 😎👍
Totally disagree, was praise in areas and doubts in others

Thanks ,yes , just my take on it,and I can't recormend one to anyone based on others issues and experiance....waiting 3 months for parts is relevant to me. Cant please all the people all the time ha!
Great video mate ❤ But if your mates experience was pre KTM takeover maybe it would be better to judge CF Moto post takeover because the situation may be improved .
Hopfully, we will see. 👍
@@exeterrider Man, this sounds like generational hating. Putting the bike down every chance you get eh?
Yeap it's a shame, because it's putting people out of transport when things go wrong.👍
Kind of you Paul Thank you. 1930 "incar " shot😂😂Gave me a chuckle : )
😲😲😲 Well, I do but it doesn't exactly 'sell' does it...🙁
@@paullee6663 yes there is alot to like mate. We will see how it stacks up longer term👍
Exactly Ken, see how in time they progress.
That's exactly what I was trying to get across, thanks
How did this compare to the Voge you rode last year mate? 🤔
I didn't even look closely at these at the ABR this year, meant to go back & never, but they are pretty attractive looking bikes! 👍😎
Very different mate, ones adventure and one is enduro. The MT has more to offer but the Voge is also good value👍

You just cant beat a Meteor 350 ER 😁
Amen ha
It's very comfy , not as comfy as my crf but the height is easier to deal with fer sure.

@@exeterrider cfmoto 800 has the same engine but with no issues (they build the ktm engines), some ktm guys are rebuilding their engines with cfmoto camshafts and heads. You get what you ordered. These days manufactures are asking chinese factorys like cfmoto and locin to build they parts, mixing with kyb, bosch, brembo, etc parts. They put their chips also on design and for me mt450 is one sexy bike. Avoid cf moto until they have established themselves with a reputable dealer network and spares. I know two people who had similar bad experience, couldnt get dealer to fix, no spares. Lets hope other manufacturers get the message this is the bike spec we all crave.
Glad you said that and I hope others see this, that's pretty much what I said in the video.

That's good. The suspension on the rear didn't seem as nice on the back compared to the Himalayan 450. But that's good to hear it's good offroad👍
Are you sure the handlebars were connected?🤣
Seen a few videos on these, they seem to be ok for the money. They sound lovely, will be interested to see how reliable they are, what it's like for getting bits, and how they honour the warranty.
I will be interested to see how these Voge DSX900 are when they arrive.

Is it just these bikes that have parts supply issue or japanese , bmw, triumph etc?
They all have issues....but some are much worse than others.....And some brands dont sell any spare parts.....less so these days
I wonder about resale value? Thanks for your video.
Yeap, They wont hold as well as the NC500 for example.
As they say you do get what you pay for, and it has been made for a price. Great review though, and your opinions are well respected. Cheers

Im looking at part-ex'ing my 2016 CB500X for this. Having a look in SP motorcycles in exeter today to see what they can do. 🤔
Having a dealer meet by is quite important I think 👍
Jeez, I wasn't aware of this no. Thanks for highlighting the issue.
Nc750dct had similar problemho da did software fix within weeks😊
Id like to know how the hold up over time in both terms of durability and depreciation?j, what will the used market be like?, and the £5k question will it rust???, just because it’s built in the same factory as KTM and Yamaha does not make it one… not criticisms im in the market and on the fence re Chinese products of any type.
Yeap, Time will tell...
Fingers crossed! They may make something like that.

It is apparently a lot better at everything than what the 450 Himalayan is.
spec wise but the overall package I'm not so sure.
@@exeterrider I take your word for it. You would know better than me, having rode both. 👍🏻
Congrats, you will enjoy it I'm sure.

I wanted a 450 like this for a while. It's an all round type bike...could be a bit lighter.
Yeap, worth trying one
These bikes are cheap in NZ so if they don`t end up performing as well as they are specified then trade up to something better, i.e KTMs 25 ADV390 or something along those lines. I get a new bike every year and don`t experience the failures the haters talk about. I know the trade in values suck but hey thats life. Currently ride the 2024 Duke 390 with all the new powerparts added, looks great and goes like a bat outa hell the QS is butter smooth, will trade it on a new bike next year, life goes on. Ride safe😁.
That good jono. Never tried a 390 but they look cool.
FROM my understanding KTM are set up really well on your side of the pond.

Hi Exmouth,
watched this one last night.

Cheers Dave,
Albert and Macie
Generally speaking. People are adding a tooth to the front sprocket though it's a bit of a trade off.
Most of us, UK owners, are still running our bikes in, so it's a bit difficult to form a proper opinion, but seems highly likely to me.
Nathan the postman likes this more than the Himalayan.
Just saying.
Not a word about the Himalayan chassis breaking ...?????
I've only heard of the chassis breaking once on a old viral video and it was a 411 not the 450 Himalayan.

Jerky throttle at slow speeds?
Not as much as the 800mt, I found it OK really.
Partially down to too much slack in the throttle cables from the factory, it's quite well documented.. 10 mins with an 8mm &10mm spanner can sort it.

= not acceptable to be off the road for that long)
I don't think the quality is better than the Himy tbh,its about the same ,or slightly better on the Himy I'd say. The suspension is far better on the Himalayan for sure. (Showa)
I'd like to do a long term on the bikes but no chance now ha....
Hope your all well , and I take your points onboard: )
Hello my friend ER,
I take into account all you have said good & bad about the brand & the bike, it is relatively new to me this brand of motorcycle & I have read that they started in 1989 😳
The initial look of these new models to me looks like they’ve got the styling bang on for adventure, they are using older KTM engines I believe 🤔 if they’ve improved on the electrics then they could be good!
Open minded I am
🙂

We do have 1000s of miles off decent offroad lanes here, as good as Aus but different terrain👍
It would have been nice to go offroad on it but in the UK, people tend to buy offroad bikes but only 10% ever actually ride them offroad
What's the point of having a good looking bike if you can't fix it when (not if...) it needs repairs? 🤔
Thats why I find it difficult to recommend one...I'd hate to say its fantastic, they spend the money ,get a problem and then are off the road for however long with it. If they are saying the next shipment is February to some people...that may or may not be the same with parts. Shame really.

@starseeddeluxe he's it sounds super and the double balencer makes all the difference. Really impressed by that 👍

Well if what you say is true I would be happy to buy second hand from someone who is scared of maintenance and parts. Ps. This bike is way better off road than your favourite Himalayan. The best part is that I more bikes gives us customers more for the buck.
Yeap it's really well speced for the money 👍
Turning a 21” front wheel has a greater gyroscopic affect than a 19”…
For sure , but I would expect it to turn quicker than what it did in the video still.
@@exeterrider I’m sure you’ll agree that wheel size is only part of the equation. Many 21” equipped bikes are far livelier turners. Tyre width, geometry and bulk/weight distribution all matter.
I
CFmoto 450MT is equal if not more to the Honda NX500. Tubeless tires, spoke rims and engine protection at a price less than the Honda.
And hopfully you will still get 80000 miles plus on it with no issues👍
They need to sort reliability before people will trust the brand
Agreed
@@exeterrider I'ld get a Triumph 400 scrambly but don't trust it yet..
There are quite a few European vloggers giving thumbs up😅😅
Exactly mate, second hand 2-3 year old 650MTs are going quite cheap and its the same situation.
I've had to interrupt you @ 7:51. I need to go out to buy some beers. I'll be back.
OK, I'll be waiting 😂
Guys straight up - China is takeing over 😂❤. Greetings from. Germany
