Just did the first 1000 km here in Poland. Yep great bike but...... It has short gearing, 125 indicated (120 gps) you are at 7000 rpm with 8500 red line. I have already installed 15T front sprocket, that drops the rpm about 500. The fueling off idle is not great (thx euro whatever it is). Throttle cable adjustment helps, but a good tune is the real solution. The exhaust is actually on the loud side, ok I guess I am old. Skid plate is paper thin. @lucaconte7812 We actually have 2 mt450s, my friend and I. My has 15t, his still 14t, so I have back to back comparison. The 15t, "calms" the bike donw a little bit, the 14t is obviously bit livelier..........15t does drop the rpm around 500 for any given speed, it's not a huge difference. With both setups, the engine pulls well everywhere. For city riding, this bike would be great. It will do 120-130 with 14 or 15, but the motor is up there in rpm. Doing this for 500 or 1000km.........most likely is fine, it just feels bit "wrong" for me. This is no longer a "dirt bike", yet most reviews are mostly in the dirt. I think it's a miss on CFMOTOs part with the 5th and 6th gear. They should have made them taller, in my opinion. There is plenty of power in the engine. It is a good bike, all the features are awesome, quality is 90% Japanese......The Royal Himalayan 451 just dose not do it for me. That's so weird that some people don't have cfmoto dealers nearby, I quite literally have 3 of them right in my area and If I want to drive an hour+ it expands my options to 7 total cfmoto dealers near me.
So interesting about the fuelling. I went and test rode one of these (was going to buy one) but the one I rode was horrible at low speed. Surging throttle, wandering up and down in rpm when sitting at a constant throttle input etc. joined a fb group and a lot of owners having the same issues

Big question is... How does it compare to the new Himalayan? I got to test the 450MT and think it's brilliant for the money. I'm yet to test the Himalayan
No center stand? Disappointing. Wish you had commented on how you think it compares to the RE Himalayan 450. That exhaust might get in the way of pannier options. The online brochure lists the max load wt. of "only" 150kg for this bike. That plastic fairing looks expensive to replace if you break it. I'm considering both. But thanks.

I know this isn't a replacement for a dirt bike but do you think it would still be fun to ride it around an enduro style course? Just zipping between trees, around a pond, and through a prairie without jumps or massive obstacles. There are full on enduro bikes like the XR650 and DR650 in this price range but I have tried buzzy air cooled bikes on the road before and I want something more refined.
Great review Mark. It looks a good do it all manageable bike. A tempting upgrade to my Serow? Most reviews I have seen rave about it except they say the suspension is very hard and the tft display font is too small for data such as range etc. many decry Chinese built bikes for their quality but it seems to be good. My concern with Chinese bikes is service and maintenance - several mechanics have told me they won’t touch them because of unavailability of parts. So where can you go for servicing ?
Another excellent review Mark. Really like the look of this bike although we are getting spoilt for choice in this category. My only disappointment in most if not all is the quite short service intervals,. Just makes my question about the durability of the engine and components.
Hi Paul once out of warranty...with modern engines tight tolerances and quality oils these engines are absolutely fine for 4/5 k mile intervals... these Asian manufacturers are always cautious Just my thoughts Cheers mark
I got mine about 12 days ago and like you I have short inseam. I want to hae it lowered but i cant find anyone to do it. Even the CFMoto Dealership. So strange! Have you have lowered?
This bike is pretty nice but those brakes i think not. Pretty decent spec for the price. Id pull the abs and traction control fuses especially on that just in case lol
I'm going to try one of these at some point, I'd like it to be doing significantly fewer rpms in 6th though - 6.5k at 70 mph is too high. And I guess there'll be some who won't want to live with 3000 mile oil changes. Speaking as a "more mature" rider who just wants a comfy travel bike...
It's a small capacity engine these sort of rpms are not that high it's not an 800cc. If the revs are to low at 70mph and increased throttle is required it might use more fuel.
Great review. A highly desirable 'do it all' bike, from dirt roads/trails to highways and slow town roads. It's a pity there's no centre stand, it could also use some drop protection around the fairing and engine. I believe they are all sold out.?
Most parts including centre stand and crash bars are currently available on Ali Express. Some are also on eBay but from China. In either case, be aware of potential customs charges.
Im hopefully riding both next week , having had my fingers burnt on a chinese bike already. Im leaning toward the Himalayan ....I think over time, it'll be the more robust bike .
Hello sir Mark good day how are you? This is the moment that ive waiting for because ive seen your reviews about the three adventure bikes that i am choosing. Which do you think is the best adventure bikes for all them. nx500,ds525x or cfmoto450mt? Thank you sir and stay safe.
I think few more and Chinese bikes will become more popular once people will ride more of those and see they are not that bad, same happen with Japanese bikes
No off road riding mark! It's actually not that suitable for really tall riders as a guy posted online & what happens is their knees hit the pointy bit on the fairing. Otherwise a great bike. What do you know about the T Box so that you can interface your phone to the TFT display to get google maps etc.
The front of ADV bikes these days all seem to have a similar look, and until just now I couldn't put my finger on what they remind me of...Star Wars Biker Scout helmets. And no, I do not care for the look. And yes, I will probably buy one anyway.
In fact I'm thinking that my old Suzuki Dr650 was faster than this thing and a bit lighter, probably more reliable. I guess emission requirements killed them off in Europe.

Hi Ian there are lots of cfmoto dealers in the UK ....or any general motorcycle mechanic will service it it's quite a simple bike
Cheers mark
golden spokes on this would have looked awesome
Great review Mark i think these are going to sell like hot cakes .
Yes Kevin ....out of them all ...benelli voge ..RE ...this is my new favourite
Cheers mark
KTM 390 ADV or MT450?
Opinions please😎
Reminds me.of my old Suzuki dr650se, we haven't really progressed in 25 years !! Lol, its a great bike provided the engine camshafts don't fail 😂😂
Another excellent review Mark. Really like the look of this bike although we are getting spoilt for choice in this category. My only disappointment in most if not all is the quite short service intervals,. Just makes my question about the durability of the engine and components.
Hi Paul once out of warranty...with modern engines tight tolerances and quality oils these engines are absolutely fine for 4/5 k mile intervals... these Asian manufacturers are always cautious
Just my thoughts
Cheers mark
Most of these would be oil and filter change.
It can't be 175 dry and 185 wet. You have to add in petrol, oil, coolant and brake fluid. At least 194.
Yes agreed just got these specs off the website...maybe it means oil coolant brake fluid and just some fuel ?
Cheers mark
195kg wet
Theres been alot of people waiting for this bike , i think it will out sell all its competitors.
I think this is best in class tbh 😁
Great review as always I'm struggling between this and the x cape 650 and thoughts on which to choose ?
The x cape has more power but Is much heavier...plus the cfmoto has the wonderful 270 crank
No brainier for me cfmoto all the way
Best wishes mark
I got mine about 12 days ago and like you I have short inseam. I want to hae it lowered but i cant find anyone to do it. Even the CFMoto Dealership. So strange! Have you have lowered?
@@augustbrante8117 it can be lowered using the other hole by the rear suspension lower bolt have you tried this ?
Great review. Loved it.
What happened at 14:00 and 17:25 handle bar wobble. You'd just mentioned stability
Thats me doing it on purpose :)
@@markpulling12 weird thing to do
Great job Mark
Very nice looking motorcycle...!
I have the 650mt and am finding it to be a bit heavy for my liking, plus I can’t flat foot it. Do I down size to the 450.🧐
Thinking about changing my CRF 250L and Tuareg 660 to this CF Moto ..... 2 x 1.....
Interesting test but what's it like in the really rough stuff off road? Love the green colour and the Yamaha Tenere styling at a realistic price.
Hi there are lots of videos serious off-road and it's very good apparently
Best wishes
@makomadeira5799 1 extra tooth on the front. Hopefully someone does it and gets back to us.
I was looking through your channel for a review on the KTM 390 Adventure but could only find the Duke done by you. Why was that?
@@deniseroberts6908 I haven't been able to get a demo on the adventure in the past ...but I'll give the new place in Christchurch a call

Great review. A highly desirable 'do it all' bike, from dirt roads/trails to highways and slow town roads. It's a pity there's no centre stand, it could also use some drop protection around the fairing and engine. I believe they are all sold out.?
Thank yes next batch in UK is august I believe cheers mark
Centre stand is available as an extra to order.
Most parts including centre stand and crash bars are currently available on Ali Express. Some are also on eBay but from China. In either case, be aware of potential customs charges.
Cb500x now the nx500 himmy 450 & 450 mt all great bikes.i like the osners reply😂
Those kind of rims on a 450 I wanna say bang for the buck.
Thanks for the review.
thanks for the in depth review
@@triarii_00 my pleasure...a great 👍 bike
Mark, do you have the clc450 cruiser style bike with this engine? It also has belt drive. I would love to see a review.
@@graymassey hi yes I'm reviewing it from Poole moto in a week or two
Reviewing the sport model ,450 SRS on Wednesday
Cheers mark
No negatives ? How does it compare to the RE ? Which would you choose ?
I prefer the cfmoto...with it's bigger frontal area for wind protection and the engine is fantastic
Cheers mark
Im hopefully riding both next week , having had my fingers burnt on a chinese bike already. Im leaning toward the Himalayan ....I think over time, it'll be the more robust bike .
Ya dont realise the chinese products are improving monthly do you? My guess is this ends up being better than the RE. Crazy times
@christopherpekel6096 Unfortunately them being better next week doesn't help me with the bike I bought nearly 2 years ago !
@@themoog3889 haahh good point
Would you say this one is better than Honda NX500? Excellent review again.
Hi thanks very equal in most ways
Better engine :) ,:) possibly better off road
So that in itself would win me over

Hi Mark, does the 450 MT come with a quick shifter or is it an option? Thanks for the great review Cheers Gray
Hi I haven't heard or seen a quick shifter option ...Im certain it's a no ...but companies may develop one in the future
Cheers mark
There's someone having one fitted on utube. And cruise control!
Quickshifters and cruise control are gimmicks that have no place on this type of bike.
is this vudeo shot un Uk ?
@@rahhannan9171 hi yes it is
Hello sir Mark good day how are you? This is the moment that ive waiting for because ive seen your reviews about the three adventure bikes that i am choosing. Which do you think is the best adventure bikes for all them. nx500,ds525x or cfmoto450mt? Thank you sir and stay safe.
Hi the cfmoto is my favorite now ... brilliant engine
Best wishes
I think few more and Chinese bikes will become more popular once people will ride more of those and see they are not that bad, same happen with Japanese bikes
I've noticed a massive change in people's attitudes over the past few years cheers mark
No off road riding mark! It's actually not that suitable for really tall riders as a guy posted online & what happens is their knees hit the pointy bit on the fairing. Otherwise a great bike. What do you know about the T Box so that you can interface your phone to the TFT display to get google maps etc.
I did take it down some tracks lol 😉
Comes with t box. Cf moto app conect.
Alot of KTM dna in this bike since CFMoto is a contract manufacturer for KTM.
The front of ADV bikes these days all seem to have a similar look, and until just now I couldn't put my finger on what they remind me of...Star Wars Biker Scout helmets. And no, I do not care for the look. And yes, I will probably buy one anyway.
Hi Mark, Where did the owner buy this bike from as they’re not listed on Poolemoto. Regards John (Guernsey)
Hi he bought it from Poole Moto ...they probably haven't updated the website cheers mark
@@markpulling12 just found out that KTM due to their tie-up with CFmoto, are using their distribution network.
do any bikes have helmet locks anymore or do you put the helmet strap under the seat?
Hi most don't have locks these days ..your better off just putting a good lock through the helmet to the front wheel or something
Cheers mark
3000miles service intervals? Wow
What do you reckon then Mark MT or Hamalayan?
Good reviews on both from you.
The cfmoto just wins for me
Better frontal area for wind protection and that engine,,,!!
In fact I'm thinking that my old Suzuki Dr650 was faster than this thing and a bit lighter, probably more reliable. I guess emission requirements killed them off in Europe.
I dont think so
Nice review 👍👍 ..How tall are you(in cm)? Is that bike good for beginner?
Hi I did say at the beginning,,I'm 5ft 7 ...you can see me on the bike at the beginning with full info

Hi Mark, is there a luggage pack option?
Hi don't think so at the moment...from cfmoto...but I'm sure the likes of givi etc will be making some

If Honda just did the same with their NX500, what a shame they missed the chance and CFMoto delivered what the riders wanted.
Hi Mark is it better than the Honda NX500
Hi all things considered About equal but it has a nicer engine and cheaper
Id buy this for sure 😀
