Well, I am not, but there are reasons I prefer them to other brands. Hear me out.

Sony is Goated! That's why my Channel revolves around Sony as well! Haha
Out of all the cameras I've used or reviewed in the last 8 years, When Sony released the A7SIII they set the bar. Most reliable and predictable cameras out of anything I've used. The aren't the most exciting cameras to shoot with. But at least I know it's always going to get the shot and I can rely on it.
Which cameras would you say are exciting to shoot with? *curious*
Agreed!! I've struggled buying a second cam cause even the FX30 would be different than the AS7iii. I do think I'm going to get the ZV-E1 soon. I keep waiting because I can almost guarantee Sony drops ZV-E1ii the 31st day after I buy it!
And its still the only camera u need. Cant belive its 4 years old. Insane specs for 2020. Like all these new cameras being released with 8k and stuff like who needs that? When was the last time u went to a shoot and said oh man 4K quality sucks, wish I had 8k with 3 times the size of the file and 3 times the loading time in post. A7Siii alongside FX3 will continue being a literal god workhorse for another 5 years minimum. My cam can do 6k yet ive shot a grand total of 0 times in it, 4K is golden standard.
@@OmgiamsotriggeredI'd say when a manufacturer can get gimbal like stabilisation - that will be the next battle ground. Resolution wise I only shoot 1080p on my A7R5, no one has ever commented or noticed.
12 megapixels, though?
Same here! I can't leave e mount. Too many options. I like to call it the "open source" mount. Until other manufacturers catch up to the sheer amount of lenses that emount has I can never switch. My budget won't allow.
The behind the scenes were just as valuable as the content, more please!
bro your point about digital mics is so true. Now that I have 2 of their mics its just soooooo easy. I have audio presets built out for each mic in resolve so I just plop that on and the audio is pristine in 1 click.
In 2014 I was a partner in a camera store and had been a Nikon shooter from the 1950's. I lived in Europe as a child and often visited Europe. Some friends asked me to play tour guide for them. Knowing I was going to many places I had been I was thinking about traveling light. The A6000 had just dropped, we didn't have in stock but it seemed interesting. So I ordered one in figuring I would sell it when I returned from my trip. Well I came home and put all my Nikon gear in the used equipment case. I now have 9 Sony cameras.
Been warching you for a while Terry. I know its hard work to stay cinsiatent, but thank you for your contribution to theTube. You have personally inspired me to keep recording.
As a Nikon shooter, I’m always curious what other shooters are benefiting from. Lens factor is interesting.
Love your editing style and delivery! Subbed bro
I feel ya on the Sony dedication lol I see you rocking the 24-70. I have the Sigma version. I am about to travel for about 3 months, and am considering taking just that lens with my a7c ii.
I’m about to buy that the new Sigma 24-70 and I’m worried it’s going to be too big on my a7cii. Have you ran into any issues?
That was the most stylish hat I’ve seen! Love it. Exciting scenery.
I already have my heart set on the Sony A7R5, so your video only helped further prove, confirm that I am indeed VERY smart!
All the reasons you listed for you sticking with Sony: the interchangeability of the lenses, them not being stingy with including nice features even on the lower end cameras and their reliability? They are all qualities that I want in any system I buy into.
Thank you for putting this together for us; it was very enjoyable to watch and you're right the shot you took at the bus stop was excellent in terms of its composition.
Love my A7RV. It also looks so cool.
@@NT_1 I agree; it isn't very ugly! Am really looking forward to getting one. I am not the sort who wants to jump from one brand to another or be locked into a prison-like "ecosystem" of equipment deliberately designed to be incompatible with third party peripherals or lenses - like Canon, or even when it comes to phones, computers anything Apple.
If they are making the best - and I actually need the best like a $5,000.00 lens that can work resolution, detail miracles - I will buy it but we both know rarely is such extreme quality needed.
But, if I do want it and can afford it? Let their quality and reputation sell me on it - don't force me to buy it by making your stuff incompatible.
Once upon a time, about 20 or 30 years ago, Sony actually was that way. Nothing they made - even flash shoes fit anyone else's stuff and their company head essentially came right out and said they didn't care if people didn't like it. They were Sony and the biggest gorilla on the block.
Apparently, that level of hubris caught up with them and, as we now know - they've changed their tune.
love your behind the scene videos... nice to see how created the whole video.. amazing bro!
Well done. Great info. Very interesting. Thank you, Terry. 😀 PS. What cage are you using?
all of the different locations added to the appeal of this video!
Dope hat! Also dope car Camera rig!
As a hobbyist, I totally agree with you. I started using Canon, but it annoys me to buy adapters for lenses. Also when you upgrade to R series bodies lenses are so expensive which makes it hard for me to have fun on my camera. I bought Sony A6700 and the whole world of lenses opened up for me. Cheers man, you got a new sub!
Thanks for the behind the scenes ❤
There are several hundreds of Lenses to choose from for the Sony E-mount system and there are Sony Cameras which fits to everybody. I have done Photography for 45 years both as a professional and as a hobby photographer with all kind of Cameras and brands from 35mm to 6x6, 6x7 and to large format 4x5" and 5x7", I have ended up with Sony Cameras and Sony GM, Zeiss and Voigtländer APO Lenses, I think that the Sony system is the best system for both amatuers and for professional photographers.
The Sony A6000 I use as a 1080p webcam with a HDMI capture device has been rock solid. Even this older camera has really good face detect autofocus in video mode. That's how far ahead Sony was in mirrorless tech. So it makes sense to me Sony would be your go-to option. 👍 I would like to get into the Sony FX30/FX3 or Lumix S5ii for video someday, but can't swing it money wise. For me the big thing is finding something that can handle longer recordings and HDMI output at 4k (6k and open gate would be even better), so I'll probably hold out until a camera with a cooling fan inside gets cheap enough. The Nikon Z30 I have can only do 4k HDMI output for ~35 minutes indoors before it shuts down. Seem like bad firmware programming/design rather than actual overheating.
I feel this, I’ve never not had a Sony somewhere in my kit, they’ve made their line up Exactly good enough to get something that looks great, and also their form factors are so varied, theirs some thing literally for everyone
1000% agree. Sony's AF alone is far better than the rest
It’s the lenses. Their AF motors are super quick.
I agree with your reasoning. Choices are good and it's very hard to find a bad camera now, but I tend to always own a Sony camera for so many reasons.
excellent video. So impressed with delivery to camera
Love the behind the scenes!! Awesome to see that perspective
Love this video man! Appreciate your thoroughly explained opinions and facts bro! Keep the content coming don’t ever let up bro. I also love Sony I recently got the A7cR to replace my A7iV and I absolutely love it for photography and long exposure shots. Last but not least the video capabilities is also insane quality!
Yes. All newer cameras are great. After 10yrs my GAS syndrome is finally subsiding, but I do love sony
I love Canon we used Canon in our collage. My first Canon camera is 40D I have Rebel T6 and IXUS 285 compact before. And I also used in my day job is 5D MarkII. But I still end up buying and using Sony. Coz of the same reason why you still using Sony. It's just work for me. By the end of the day no matter what gear you are using as long as it works for you it's fine there's nothing wrong with it just enjoy what you're doing and have fun.
Cool shots, good composition. Nice video!
I love your videos and in particular the BTS on this one. Quite a difference between the Ozmo and the Sony. The little Osmo is amazing for what it is but man that Sony footage is gorgeous!
I was Nikon and moved to Sony with a A7R5. Its been a great camera so far. Once I unlearned all my Nikon muscle memory I was fine.
Things I like:
Auto ISO works well
Auto WB works well
Auto focus works well
Button customisation
rear screen
EVF
Lens choice great.
Lenses and less crippling of the cameras is why I left canon. Sony gives you slog 2-3 on most of their cameras. Even the entry level. If you want c log 2 on canon you have to drop hella money on a r5 mark ii. Not to mention the over priced rf lenses. If you can’t afford rf lenses you have to use ef lenses which are ok but they’re heavy. You might as well attach a brick to the front of your camera. I only wish Sony would add false color to their cameras.
ZVE1 not the ZVE10 when filming the mansion at 14:34 right? Byt hey, cant agree with you more on all the pros staying with Sony. Keep it coming bro!
Yeah. I misquoted it
Great video learn something today thank you for your work 👍🏾
dude that was a pretty cool vid! much love from NJ got me going!
I'm not so sure choices mean so much when, for example, Sony has multiple 85mm f/1.4 and 1.8 options that overlap with yet another 1.4 promised to be in the works. Canon may have less options but there's more variety because in addition to the above they also offer a 1.2 option.
I feel you, I hate that canon doesn't have a high megapixel camera that doesn't include a bunch of video features that I'm not ever gonna use. I don't care about ibis 8k or any frame rate over 120p.
The Sony A7Siii is the perfect camera, the best ever made. I’ve never seen someone needing more features for daily use, you mentioned like 6 of them that are fancy but not necessarily a must have for every user. Cheers for the good video.
Dope video there, B. Like you, I too am diggin’ on them Sony jawns.
🥃👊🏾
Nice. Did u grade this?
If the next FX cameras have open gate, it’s gonna be game over for me
I knew that S9 wouldnt pull you away from Sony. Nikon is really the only camera system that can roll with Sony. Also the lenses, like you said emount was brilliant. Good stuff! Much ❤!
I still use it all the time, but only to have fun with
@@TerryWarfield I get that. I try to have one camera for everything and so I use the A7CR, because I love to crop. I would love to play with the S9, BUT I need flash and mechanical shutter. That said Lumix did get the in camera features right.
I like this video bro and I agree 100%.
They’re almost too good lol. I sold my a7r5 because I hadn’t used it to anywhere near its capacity but it’s the best camera I’ve ever owned. I grabbed The A7cii and will admit I miss the 61mp even though I rarely used it.
I think that highlights your point. You can get great work out of any of the cameras. Pick your weapon of choice and go! It’s rocking the 24-70 gmii and it’s still a beast.
Looking at a smaller lens for edc and travel tho.
*My First Camera for Content was the Panasonic G7 & G85 and they were both AMAZING, BUT The Main Issue I had with them as with most People whom used these was the Auto Focus so this was when Sony was coming up with New Camera's and from what I heard was the Auto Focus was Amazing so I bought my first Interchangable Lens the A6400 and then the ZV-1 and been using them ever since, now I have the FX30 and ZV-E10. So I'm gonna stay with Sony as they have served me well now and into the future. BUT I'm looking to change my ZV-E10 for my Pocket 3*
Much love Terry. I prefer canon because of the colors, looking at your videos in particular vs someone like YC, his colors POP. I'm sure you're shooting in log but something about the colors from the Sony in your hands just doesn't pop. As someone who hates color grading, I don't want to fight my camera for it to look good. That shot next to those orange things was cool though.
Great video bro!!
Good stuff...hitting 100k soon! Continue doing your s**t, arithmetic will sort itself out!
I have the a7cr. If you can buy one lens what would you buy??? I’m thinking 16-35gm ii
20-70mm g small and nice to carry and great results
But the Lumix SIIX is a better camera than almost all the Sony ranges.... Even, in the channel you yourself recommend it over Sony. Anyway, I understand your point, Sony is better for the versatility of the lenses and focus, but in other areas the Lumix are dominating a lot, only that social fanaticism does not allow to notice it.
Sony is like the Apple of the camera space. Great at marketing and make products that have great features. They’re constantly putting out new iterations of the same products, are years behind their competitors in terms of features (Apple vs android), are overpriced because of brand recognition, have a cult following that can’t see what others have to offer. I used to be like that but after branching out from Sony and iPhone I saw the other companies are just as good.
@@enjoygaryFunny. I've usually heard Canon be compared with Apple, not Sony.
Canon used to hold features back to protect their cinema line, took 5 years to get into the mirrorless game, and are slow to release new features but they're generally implemented well when they do.
And Sony being more like android. Puts all the features in there, even if they're half baked at times. Iterates fast. Tons of new cameras and lenses all the time (like there are tons of Android options).
But I agree that Lumix puts even more features in (mainly for video).
(I'm a Canon shooter btw and used to shoot Lumix. Never shot Sony. And I have an android phone).
It can’t even use phase detect autofocus in 1080 120
@@ghostgums120? Who? Why? 😂
@@TerraThink Sony likes to cripple cameras to force people to upgrade down the line. It is weird, sometimes their newer camera's have better features than their premium gear. Also, they allow their cameras to become obsolete even when all they need is a firmware update.
What tripod you use in your clip?
You def help keep me motivated dog
Hahahaha.. i don't know why, but i believe you have convinced me to get that GM 24-70 lens for my ZVE1.. damn i'm sold..
It’s so good! Use the links In description! Make sure you get the II version
Sony is great because:
1. E-Mount works with every Sony Camera, and 3rd-Party Lens Support
2. They're ahead of the AI Auto-Focus game
3. They don't hold back on the features. 90% of newer Sony features are found in their older cameras, and even on entry-levels, they put in the epic features.
4. Sensor technology is ahead than the others with the release of the latest Global full-frame sensor
5. Even old Sony like the A7III is still top-notch in Dynamic Range and the sensor is even BSI
Sony for me too brotha. That AF and the Lenses get me good.
Was standing next to a sign that says “shallow but great” intentional? If so, well played. That’s how I would describe Sony cameras: Not anything special, but they always get the job done. 😂
Shot #6 is the dopest!!
You can get a Lumix s5ii for 1,500 dollars in the used market. I had Sony camera’s but fell out of love with them. They’re good but I think they’re overrated
Sony had the minolta mount earlier but it was the first to go all out on the mirrorless and hence they had a huge lead in terms of Mirrorless tech and Lens offerings,. Nikon was the last i think, and came only in 2018
What tripod are you using 14:52
I've had a few Sony cameras over the years, (a7, a7II, a7r, a6000, 6100, rx100iv) and all of those had one big issue for me and that was batteries. Not even the battery life but batteries draining in camera after 3-5 days. I'd charge up batteries maybe not use the camera for 3-5 days, go to use them and dead battery or batteries down to around 10%. I gave up in the end and moved brands. Maybe I just got unlucky but it put me off getting another Sony. Can't argue with Sony's technology and features though they are second to none.
It’s not an issue with the newer cameras. I just took my a7iii out of my trunk after 2 months and it’s at 91%. I have spare batteries and barely use them
All those cameras use the old battery, the new npz100 are GREAT
What about Fuji?
6:18 here i found your best color grading lut used in this video❤
I would like to see Sony versions of Godox ad100 and ad200, etc. to use with my sony flash and trigger.
having a Sony A7Rv...if I had to go with a other system it would be Nikon (Z8) but i'm happy with Sony
Sony e mount is the reason I switched from canon m50. It was my first camera but I know in the future I will upgrade to full-frame, so I bought ff lens with an adapter. Not very good experience and canon has a lot of lenses with various types of mounts. I love how rf lens because the mount is close to the censor to produce shaper image but even myself can't differentiate image from sony and canon.
Other than that, m50 really was a joke. slowmo 120fps with 720p no audio. hellna. Just imagine upgrade to canon R to have fullframe censor and c log with almost 4 times more expensive. That's a joke to me. I made a decision to jump into sony a6400 and not long after that I sold it and bought a6300 and a6000. a6300 is incredible because of slog , 120fps with audio and reliable auto focus. I really think a6300 still future proof in next 5 years. Now I use a7iii and a6500
Life without adapter is better
I just got the FX30 last week and now I am a Pony.
Well thought out video. Seventy native choices makes me realize I have 58 more fights with my wife. Ok half that I am pretty good about sneaking them in. I do have one question why do creators hold lav mics in front of your faces? Why not either clip it on or insert the wired mic and clip it under your shirt?
Couldn’t agree with you more.
Fantastic job
The real question though is who is the fast food for?!?
For camera companies to change something, there needs to be feedback and criticism, not just playing devil's advocate for them. Sony's problem isn't that they're releasing too many cameras (especially this year; where are the cameras, Sony?), but that they put features in their newest bodies, that bodies just a few months old don't have, and they don't update them. The excuse is, that they're running the CPUs in the cameras to their limit and can't afford to implement any new features. THIS is a Sony policy that they should definitely change - leave enough computational headroom in your cameras for future firmware updates with the newest features. But they won't feel the need to do that, if every content creator is running excuses for them all the time and only pays sparing lip service to the issues.
Thanks!
I couldn't do Sony because too much time went into getting the colors right
I have the Sony FS7-MK 2, It's the AK 47 of Cinema Video Cameras, very dependable , rugged , though I have to say the Color science of my Lumix (Pana AF101), cameras have a better look.... Sony has Quality , from years ago,,, The Sony PMW F3 is top notch Cinema Color Science ....I tend to like Dedicated Cinema Cameras,,,,,, DSLR rigs are too complicated.... Good review Terry ....... Peace Out!!!!
Not a Sony user (have a ZV-1 ) in general. Everything else is Nikon and it will stay that way. Regardless, I think you're "trapped" in a very good place. The bodies all have great AF, great video features and the widest selection of lenses. You really can't go wrong.
Great video brother!
I might buy the canon R5 just to make fire... .like actual fire
You mean like when it overheats just get the mark ii
I saw my camera in this video the fx 30 😊
Obviously you are correct with the lenses and Sony but in reality you probably only need three lenses 2 primes and one good zoom unless you are a wildlife photographer then you need a real telephoto lens. Many Sony cameras are overrated and overlap in features . I need a great camera to take photos of a camera.
I Started at Cannon then went to GoPro Then Finally Sony & Welp Don't See myself leaving Sony, Best Experience so far
Great video bro.
Great video, Sony is the best! 💪🏼
we don't have a good pro 28mm :(
Awesome video
Gangster mode is hilarious but yeah sony for life
I also find it hard to get away from Sony. I have a 7rv but have been looking for a more fun daily and something nostalgic. I’m thinking Nikon zf but it don’t made one that was nostalgic I’d be there.
The ZF is great. Love mine
@@TerryWarfield I am so tempted bro. I kinda love the black and white. I just wish it had more mega pickles. lol. But in truth. I got tons with the Sony. So that may be my fun one. I did want a leica but that’s just crazy shit.
@@TerryWarfield I should ask. Did you do a review on it. If so link it. I normally catch most of your stuff but not seen that.
Hat goes hard
Man, I’m new at photography, videos, and starting my RUclips channel and I want to say I have learned so much from watching your channel along. You and Jason made my mind up to start out with the A6700, Tamron 17-70, and I have a Sony 50mm 1.8, along with a pocket 3 so I think I ready to jump in. Keep doing your thing dude, maybe the old man can get on your level one day. Peace ✌️
That’s a dope starter kit
Check out that Sony 11mm
I shoot Sony for video. But I shoot Canon for my stills work. It's easy.
If you like DJI cameras you will automatically like Sony cameras, and vice versa. The reason being is by and large DJI use Sony sensors.
No judgement. Eat on.
Don't these microphones come with a clip? This looks ridiculous. Otherwise nice video.
100% This
What up Tight Shirt
Everything You said about sony is the same FOR ALL MAJOR CAMERA SYSTEMS (EXCEPT FOCUS but EVEN THAT IS QUESTIONABLE) !!!!!!!!! But I guess it is another video (kinda fan girl tho) ....................
Hilarious watching a youtube video and knowing exactly where you are shooting lol There's way to much space out there for her to trip on your sh*t. I would of been pissed
A7rV owner. Nikon is making an aggressive case
The audio Noise though yuck
Sigma carries E-Mount
Hey bro great content thanks for the informative video
I would like to purcharse lumix s9 or s5ii a little bit suggestion needed from you
I love to film cinematic footage and vlogs
Sony really is the goat
Realistically I use a few lenses that I can get from any manufacturer. To me its about how the camera feels and looks and its usability. Sony has ALWAYS failed in that category. Their cameras look ugly, feel terrible and have garbage ergonomics. They no longer have a corner on the market for autofocus, so what would the appeal be? By and large their lenses don't produce images I like, and are way overpriced. I've tried all the major brands and Sony just never made the cut with me. I don't need a million lenses. I need basically 4. So I went with Lumix and quite frankly they are just better to use than Sony. I never had issues with the autofocus that others did. Its 99 marketing hype and the instances in which it would be an issue are so rare. When the S1r mkii S1h mkii come out virtually every other camera on the market will become irrelevant. Thats just my two cents. Take it for what it's worth.
I have 3 lumix cameras and also 3 Sony cams. The lumix cameras are great, but they are missing lenses that I really love using on Sony. They are also very quirky. They have some awesome cameras tho. That s5iix is a beast
Why I can't leave sony?
1) E mount
2) AF
