With the 7Artisan lenses, they generally seem bigger than the TTArtisan lenses of comparable focal length, price, and speed, with the declicked aperture that I don’t love. I like my TTArtisan 23mm f/1.4 well enough, wouldn’t swap. But if someone prefers declicked aperture, seems fine for what it is.
For a third party 35mm equivalent look no further than the Viltrox 23mm f1.4. Brilliant lens and with AF too. OK it''s more expensive than this lens but it's too good to ignore
Great value for money and fairly fast but the size puts me off. There’s some pretty nifty 25mm manual alternatives from rival manufacturers. Not a great fan of this focal length either. Even sold my XF23 and haven’t missed it so far. Maybe this focal length within a Zoom lens would be more versatile for me.
It's my focal length, I like the TTartisan, but honestly? The Viltrox 23mm never comes off the front of my camera, now. I have a ridiculously huge lens collection and it's 99% one lens on the camera, 1% for all the rest. So, thanks for the review Damian but I think I will pass on this one. :-)
A fair and balanced review. Seen some very harsh reviews of this lens, seemingly not taking into account the price.
I try Mark :) you've gotta find the value in everything if possible!
I just bought this. Looking forward to using it!
I like all the imperfections of this lens. It's not for those who are looking for tack sharp. Good review.
Totally agree
Top review as always, appreciate your balanced view taking into account the price.
Dommmmmmm. What is this Brummie Summer??????
@@DamianBrown just soggy, cold and gross isn't it :(
@@bloomylicious I'd probably have shot stuff at the Birmingham Festival but meh, broken planet rain 🥲

Basically sums it up I think
I was expecting more samples at f1.4 because that is this lens' selling point.
Fair comment, though I think I include more sample shots than anybody else maybe?

Love mine!!
There’s a challenger now (roughly the same focal length). And it’s the 27mm F1.2 by……….. Viltrox, again !

True!! The cheap gear is also good for people trying a new focal length but not ready to invest

+1 for the Viltrox - a stunningly good lens. It lives on my X-T4 for video.
I use mine quite a bit, top lens
