Spyro is so rad! One of my favorite childhood games! But I'd love to see a build for Anderson Cooper! I must know how will the foe of Anderson Cooper, bad reporting and biased journalism, be dealt with in Dungeons and Dragons!
The only problem with him (and please correct me if I'm forgetting something) is there really hasn't been a really iconic depictions of him in any video based media other than Goku, so I'm not sure where Tulok would pull background footage from. I mean, unless he did a crossover with OSP to use Red's art, which would absolutely make my entire month if it happened. In a similar fashion I'd love to see his takes on some MtG Planeswalkers, but other than art we really only see them in like trailers for new sets. Not really enough for a good B-roll.
*Spyro* A young Dragonborn sorcerer (with levels in Fighter) and hero of a group of clandestine, relatively peaceful dragons and Dragonborn. He is, in fact, their youngest hero to date, yet extremely talented and quick-witted, if also snarky.
It still blows me away that people try to "well aksually" at Tulok. This man knows the PHB better than WotC and beyond the occasional goof, he obviously knows what he's doing with his reflavouring
Considering that the goal of this series has always been to have fun approximating the characteristics and personalities of fictional characters by using D&D character builds, rather than a meta analysis on the relative validity of those rules, I don't think anybody could reasonably consider Tulok to be any kind of authority on how the game actually works. How to use the mechanics for constructing a PC? Yeah, he probably knows that as well as anyone. But actually understanding how and why to make choices that produce an effective and optimal character for gameplay are very clearly not something he knows/ cares about. The purpose of these builds is entertainment, to make a faithful representation of an existing character that has nothing to do with D&D. The fact that the majority of them obviously aren't viable, let alone optimal, for use at a real, actual game of D&D should be eminently forgiveable.
I think you should have gone with "the way of the ascendant dragon" monk instead. The monk allows for the headbutting and charging to actually be viable and it better reflects the small bursts of flight he gets in the game rather than full on soaring through the skies.
Okay, I predict a kobold with 20 levels of draconic soul sorcerer, with true polymorph at the end to turn into a real dragon EDIT: I didn't consider the ramming, I guess Dragonborn helps more with that. Poor Kobolds will have to wait another day for their time in the spotlight
Honestly Pop Culture Kobolds seem hard to come up with. Off of the top of my head, I can only think of Charmander and Agumon. The "Char" line would probably just end as people playing the fully evolved Charizard as a Dragonborn or Lizardfolk though. Maybe Agumon as a Kobold unarmed Rune Knight (Grow bigger and armored) with a few spell casting levels needed for fire spells. But even that could probably be a Lizardfolk

For the last couple of videos, I've been commenting "I am once again asking for your build for Stroheim or the Medic". But now, after playing Undertale, I want to add Mettaton to the roaster.
I'm so excited to have a Spyro build. The Spyro games were some of the first video games I ever played and are some of my favorites. It's going to be difficult to put a quadrupedal platformer protagonist into d&d but let's see what I can do. Race: Dragonborn. From what I can see there's no purple dragonborn for visuals but if you want the fir breath red Dragonborn would be useful. Background: Depending on the game series Spyro was either just some kid or a profecised chosen one hero but all games have him taking on insurmountable odds and beating the BBEG so I think the Folk Hero background would work. Stats: #1 - Strength: Even in his first game Spyro has shown the strength to shatter metal boxes and charge through enemies for a one-shot. Though he can't break larger chests or metal doors without a powerup but I read that as more of him being, at best, a teenager and only just coming into his draconic strength. #2 - Charisma: Though he is a teenager he's actually a pretty cool guy, making lots of friends and quipping during his adventures. He's kind of like Spider-Man in that regard and was popular enough that he was a mascot of the PlayStation. #3 - Wisdom: His entire franchise is about him traveling to distant lands (usually through portals, hint hint) and exploring dry caverns, high caves, misty bogs, lofty castles, and more and to be going back and forth through these places to face the hardships within you need survival skills. #4 - Constitution: In the earlier games without Sparx you are only ever one hit away from death be it a snowball to the face or falling in molten magma so he rally shouldn't have too much Constitution but he's still a dragon with dragon scales. #5 - Intelligence: Spyro is constantly out of his element and needs lore explained to him like every 5 minutes. To be fair he is going to places he never knew existed so we can't really blame him but either way. #6 - Dexterity: Spyro is really more of a tank. He charges through things and flames them and doesn't really do much finesse work. Mostly in the games because he doesn't have thumbs (at least before Skylanders) but my point still stands. Most of the puzzles are either "hit the things in the right order" or "stand on the things in the right order" which would require either Wisdom or Intelligence instead. Class(es) So, Spyro is one of those interesting characters that doesn't really fit too well into d&d but you can also do just about whatever you want. - Champion Fighter: So, in the earlier games Spyro's combat extends to if you want to charge an enemy or breath fire on them. The later games do have actual attacks but it's mostly him swapping between short range charges and tail swipes and maybe the occasional claw attack (I'm more familiar with the older games than the newer ones) But for all of that he wasn't really one for "technique" and mostly just relied on literally goring his opponents with his horns which, I would assume, would normally be extremely effective. Hence I think the Champion's focus on critical attacks would be useful. - Draconic Bloodline Sorcerer: Spyro doesn't just have a draconic bloodline, he IS a dragon. And while Spyro wasn't known for firing off magic missiles in the games some of the spells can be used to imitate the powerups you can get in the game such as the Fireball spell being the Superflame powerup and using Haste for Supercharge. And for once, a class that gives you wings to fly with is 1,000% in character so getting at least to the 14th level would be, not necessary since Spyro never fully got the hang of unaided flight but, would work well here. - Horizon Walker Ranger: The first three Spyro games were all about jumping into magical portals and exploring the world within so the explorer class that specializes in finding portals to other planes is perfect here. Once again the Spells don't really mix to well with a character that canonically doesn't use magic but if that bothers you take things like Jump and Longstrider and rationalize that as you aren't using magic instead you just focus extra hard on your charge pulling extra speed out. Or pull from the weird purple dragon powers the later games had. Alright Tulok, show me the Tabaxi Fighter/Ranger... Oh wait, that's Hunter... Orc Wizard/Barbarian? No, that's Gnasty Gnorc... Goblin Warlock? No, that's Ripto... Bugbear Fighter/Ranger? Wrong again, Crash Bandicoot... Not even from the same franchise. Despite the crossovers. OOH, I KNOW. Saty ELORA. Dragonborn have an UA racial feat called Dragon Wings. It only gives 20 ft of flying speed, but you can have it as early as 4th level and you have it all the time, forever. It only costs an ASI, so it's basically free.
When thinking about how to build spyro myself, I was back and forth between dragonborn and kobold. ... If making this as an NPC I would use a red-dragon wermling, but with a Netral-Good alignment.
4:10 Definitely should see if the DM would let you use Water breath as Physical damage, with the effects of using a lot of water. (Putting out fires, filling containers, and whatever else you might use a fire hydrant for.)

for fans of Spyro; a New Beginning i am sure there is some spells to reflect the ice and earth element breaths along with the elemental bombs you can shoot. but this build is still nice
Point of interest: Since you seem to be focusing more on fire magic for this build than other element types, I think it would've been better to start with a blue dragonborn and give him a red dragon sorcery bloodline for fire affinity at LV6.
Spyro is a purple dragon, which color-wise is the mix of red and blue. Uncle Iroh just so happened to meet a red and blue dragon in his travels, which changed his take on firebending... whaddya know. Uncle Iroh build please.
I think there was a purple dragon in earlier editions. I also think, it did psychic damage. And about the water thing, I think it was the Brass Dragon, that got a fire breath in 5e, but originally would breathe a cloud of boiling steam at you?
I kinda want to see Minato Arisato from persona 3fes. I'm predicting a sorc/wizard with spells like meteor storm for both mass destruction and Armageddon
Me too. Usually when he diverges from an obvious pick, he offers an explanation, like when he didn't take Purple Dragon Knight. No mention of Way of the Ascendant Dragon. Did he forget it was a thing? Did he make this vid previous to the UA and just not release it until now?
@@bskec2177 He did say he wanted to emphasize on Spyro's magic more-so. Plus, Tulok tends only to use Monk if it is an actual martial artist. Otherwise he just does fighter > unarmed fighting.
@@summermermaidstar756 The only way to differentiate between this build and a Skylanders variant would be to actually force your opponent to purchase a prepainted mini roughly a quarter of the cost of the PHB before they're allowed to build the character. If they don't have it, they'll have to play somebody else, and when they find a spell scroll that a sorcerer can use, they should be given the option of being shown an ad for said prepainted mini.
Oh! He's making a tiny dragon! Are we gonna see a kobold build! "Second is going to be strength, for-" Oh. well, guess that rules that out. Dragonborn? Dragonborn. Yeah, that's good too.
Not sure if you're a Scion fan but this episode just happened to upload on the same day the Scion expansion for Dragons starts its kickstarter. So if it's a coincidence it's a cool one.
Believe it or not, there is another animated dragon out there, one that's not really a build and more of a pet, and his name is Faffy. Faffy is the pet dragon of the main protagonists of the animated Disney series from the early 2000s called Dave the Barbarian, I'm sure you've seen me mention it a few times in some of the comments. Faffy is a little yellow dragon that looks more like a flying potato than a dragon, he's also kind of simpleminded and more than a little stupid in most of his appearances on screen. Granted, Dave, his owner and the title character of Dave the Barbarian, also has what appears to be an artifact level magic sword with a sassy personality because she literally talks and can be self-autonomous for bursts of time but usually hangs around in her scabbard. Then there's talking magical horse that can also fly through magical means, "Twinkle the Marvel Horse," who is owned by Dave's sister, Candy, but is often neglected because Candy is more preoccupied with everything that has less to do with her responsibilities and more what stereotypical teenage girls are into. Honestly, you could start a whole new series that takes people through making custom magic items and/or equipment using similar sources to those you use for these character-building videos.
I would drop the 4 levels of fighter, take 4 levels of Warlock to get Sparks with the Pact of the Chain, and also get the Gift of the Ever Living Ones. "He's helping and protecting you." For patron, probably the Fiend to give you temp hp for reducing a hostile creature to 0hp. Fleeing sheep count as hostile, right? Sparks is literally the lifeblood of this team, damn it, you can't say he's just Light!
My more martial version of this build ... Take spear with your starter equipment, and reflavor it as horns. ... 14 levels of blue dragon sourcorer, ... Charger feat @Lv4 ... 6 levels of Champion Fighter w/ great weapon ... Upgrade spear to a lance, for more charge deammage. ... Maybe use an ASI for magic initiate, to get a Sparx as a famillair, or ask your DM if you can take it as a sourcorer spell. Otherwise, use dancing lights, and/or mage hand.
yes, Tulok, make your Ripto puns, but know that you have instilled in me the urge to play a diminutive one-horned spell-casting megalomaniac. This in turn has caused me to turn to the heavens *cough* RUclips comments *cough* and loudly proclaim for the world to hear: HOW?
This is a good build but you could have made a little bit better balance of bash and flame by just taking the dragon wings feat from unearthed arcana, 10 levels of blue ancestry draconic bloodline sorcerer then take 10 levels in way of the open hand monk. sure you wouldn't be as powerful as a caster but you would have a good balance between your bash attacks flame attacks. either way, I really enjoyed the video keep up the good work!
Animal Handling? What animals like Spyro? Sheep run away...bulls, dogs, vultures, and crabs attack...well, I guess the starfish love him. Also, there is one 9th-level spell that would have been in-character for Spyro, if only for one game; Time Stop is literally the only good that came out of Legend of Spyro: The Eternal Night. ...Well, that, and the Dark Spyro soundtrack.
One tweak I'd make to this build would be to swap one of the Metamagic abilities for Transmuted spell (Tasha's pg. 66). One sorcery point to reassign the damage type of a spell? Yes please!
O.O My dude I've been waiting for someone to make a Spyro build lol I am so playing this my next campaign (Or if I have an untimely death with one of my current characters)

Point of interest: Since you seem to be focusing more on fire magic for this build than other element types, I think it would've been better to start with a blue dragonborn and give him a red dragon sorcery bloodline for fire affinity at LV6.
Not gonna lie, I was expecting him to somehow bait and switch over picking a dragonborn.
I expected a Kobold because he's small but Dragonborn works too
You know, Tieflings can be purple and have horns and wings.
And the Trogdor comes in the NIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT-AH!
You've given me the idea for my next character.
Spyro is a purple dragon, which color-wise is the mix of red and blue. Uncle Iroh just so happened to meet a red and blue dragon in his travels, which changed his take on firebending... whaddya know.
Uncle Iroh build please.
Now that Fizban's is out you could make Spyro an Amethyst Dragonborn. The gems seem appropriate, at least.
I think there was a purple dragon in earlier editions. I also think, it did psychic damage.
And about the water thing, I think it was the Brass Dragon, that got a fire breath in 5e, but originally would breathe a cloud of boiling steam at you?
Yes deep (old model) or eldritch dragons
I kinda want to see Minato Arisato from persona 3fes. I'm predicting a sorc/wizard with spells like meteor storm for both mass destruction and Armageddon
Oh man he would have Charisma as either his best or worst stat depending on how he's played.
@@BJGvideos Intelligence and wisdom would follow considering his social stats
I would have made Spyro a Monk of the Four Elements and based him more on his Legend of Spyro version
I’m shocked this wasn’t a dragon Monk.
Me too. Usually when he diverges from an obvious pick, he offers an explanation, like when he didn't take Purple Dragon Knight. No mention of Way of the Ascendant Dragon. Did he forget it was a thing? Did he make this vid previous to the UA and just not release it until now?
@@bskec2177 I THINK he’s been staying away from UA content. Could be wrong tho
@@bskec2177 He did say he wanted to emphasize on Spyro's magic more-so. Plus, Tulok tends only to use Monk if it is an actual martial artist. Otherwise he just does fighter > unarmed fighting.
You should do people from fairy tail. Would love to see how you would make Erza
he's got some wing cause he a wingaling dragon
Comin' out of the...back of his neck there...
@@BJGvideos you know what? lets put one o' those beefy arms back on 'im.
Wow, you never once made _any_ reference to Skylanders in this video
Good.
tbf Spyro's moveset doesn't change in any way in Skylanders (outside of dark spyro existing, and the whole summoning through portal of power thing)
He didn't even use clips from it
@@summermermaidstar756 The only way to differentiate between this build and a Skylanders variant would be to actually force your opponent to purchase a prepainted mini roughly a quarter of the cost of the PHB before they're allowed to build the character. If they don't have it, they'll have to play somebody else, and when they find a spell scroll that a sorcerer can use, they should be given the option of being shown an ad for said prepainted mini.
@@reloadpsi I see what you did there.
You know who else has an iconic face, works well with kids, and looks great in purple? MIss Frizzle! When can we see a build for her?
What would that even be? Maybe knowledge domain cleric and artificer?
@@shadowshedinja6124 Definitely a Battlesmith Artificer for some of it; we can reflavor the bus as her Steel Defender
Definitely a Dragonborn Sorcerer, though I do wonder how to make the horns work out.
Oh! He's making a tiny dragon! Are we gonna see a kobold build!
"Second is going to be strength, for-"
Oh. well, guess that rules that out. Dragonborn? Dragonborn. Yeah, that's good too.
It's HERE
Also this video reminds me I need to get back to finishing/100%ing Spyro Reignited
This is the burning hands police! Put your paws up!
Sugestions for a Hat Kid Build:
...
Chr, Dex, Int, Con, Wis, Str
...
Artificer
(Hats & Badges)
...
Theith Rogue and/or Sun Soul Monk
(Mobillity.)
...
Warlock dip
(Snatcher Contract)
...
Background: Noble?
(Fine clothes.)
...
Race: Lightfoot Halfling? (Chr & Dex, and childish appearance.)
Great build. I love spyro
My more martial version of this build
...
Take spear with your starter equipment, and reflavor it as horns.
...
14 levels of blue dragon sourcorer,
...
Charger feat @Lv4
...
6 levels of Champion Fighter w/ great weapon
...
Upgrade spear to a lance, for more charge deammage.
...
Maybe use an ASI for magic initiate, to get a Sparx as a famillair, or ask your DM if you can take it as a sourcorer spell. Otherwise, use dancing lights, and/or mage hand.
How about a Finn the Variant human build?
Liked on principle for TROGDOOOOOOOR reference.
All hail the algorithm
I know it's a really obvious build, but how about Pit from Kid Icarus? I'm sure you can find a way to make it interesting.
Day Sixteen of asking Tulok The Barbarian to do The Lorax.
Please...start adding the cantrips. I don't care if you have to put true strike but I really get caught up on picking another cantrip in these videos!
just so the writer may know, i was that one guy that heard the joke on 10:17 and said *"YEEEE"*
yes, Tulok, make your Ripto puns, but know that you have instilled in me the urge to play a diminutive one-horned spell-casting megalomaniac.
At Sorcerer Level 3. Calling Dragon’s Breath for a required spell.
CALLED IT!!!!
Freaking awesome! Now do Crash!
For bubble breath, I would allow acid damage or cold damage. The bubble that burns or is super cold.
YOU CAN ONLY CAST BURNING HANDS OUT OF YOUR........
oh....... *backs away slowly*
One tweak I'd make to this build would be to swap one of the Metamagic abilities for Transmuted spell (Tasha's pg. 66). One sorcery point to reassign the damage type of a spell? Yes please!
Nasty Norc is totally gonna fear me now.
O.O
My dude I've been waiting for someone to make a Spyro build lol
I am so playing this my next campaign
(Or if I have an untimely death with one of my current characters)
Instant like/comment for TROGDOOOOOOR!
I've been hoping that you would do this.
Beautiful!
Still waiting on best boar boy
But yeah spyro was my first PlayStation game so this was awesome to see and will make this my next PC
Thank you for releasing me.
The fact that tulok didn’t base the build off the original skylanders game that was named for Spyro pains my soul.
I’m going to guess Dragonborn, with Draconic Sorcerer
We're finally hitting the big boys
Hey man great vids you have grown so much as a creator! Anyways day 3 of asking for spike spiegel
Yoshi... I'm guessing warlock. Eldrich tongue blast. To draw in food.
