Really fun build!!!! Just my style innovating with no tools!! I don’t own a miter saw but I also don’t have the physical ability to do all cuts and back and forth : I tend to design this way find sizes then create within the space. I find it mentally rewarding since I’m limited with mobility. Great 👍 great tutorial so fun !

I want my privacy screen portable, or extremely easy assembled/dissembled for moving around my backyard; so I decided to build it with 1 - 1/4 in. greenly painted PVC pipes. The verticals are wood hammered down into the soil, and those horizontals are just hung with ropes both sides just like those narrow gapped rope ladders. Then some 6 x 8 ft. outdoor floor map for light weight table and chairs (all legs are cushioned with 1/2 x 8 x 8 in. plywood boards so they won't puncture into the expensive map).
This is FREAKING AMAZING!! I could see it in my mind, just couldn't quite get there... dude it is so on now!! Yay for no more peepers!! #womengetitdone

Awesome video! I was just wondering why you chose not to paint? I'm thinking of building a privacy screen and I was going to paint but if it'll still last I might opt to not. It looks really good the way you did it.
Thanks! I built it for a friend so I left it up to her to paint. The slats are cedar so they will look nice even without paint. I think either way your privacy screen will look great! Good luck with your build.

Why do you put gaps in between. If I choose to fill in the gaps, will it look bad? I have really nosey neighbors outside my window and don't want to them to see ANYTHING. LOL
I think you need gaps, yes, but they could be smaller than mine so it’s basically impossible to see through. Sorry about your neighbors, they sound awful!
A variety of benefits come from having gaps in your screen. One reason for gaps is to let wind through, reducing lateral pressure on your structure. Or to let minimal light through, so you don't have a dark spot that affects growth of plants & lawn. If the gap and slats are about equal in thickness, the screen will provide about 50% transparency, sort of like squinting and looking through your own eye-lashes. As the thickness of the slats increases, there will be more sense of privacy, like a picket fence with narrow gaps. Great video. Nice work!

How much was the cost in materials? Just the wood I mean
I believe it was around 300$. I used cedar which makes it more expensive. You could do it much cheaper with pressure treated slats.

Technically this wasn't really a DIY. From what I saw it was a do it with your husband or a male friend.
“DIY” doesn’t literally mean doing something 🥹 “all by your lonesome”… but means instead of hiring a professional to do a particular project or task. 👍
