Man ive gotten a few scratches on older cars from using a car wash. I would never use one
Touchless washes aren't too bad, but they only get like 80% of the dirt off

We were taught this many years ago by a professional detailer with 40 years experience. It simply is the best way of cleaning glass.

Hi Mighty Car Mods - thanks for the great video. Brilliant tips on how to clean your car and make it look shiny & new. And yes, this does take a bit of time - most of a day in some cases. I like the masking off the car to polish so you don't burn the trim. I made that mistake when polishing one of my vehicles. Got into the crevice on the plastic trim and burned a bit of the plastic with the buffer. All the best, Cheers Rick

If I can give just two major pieces of advice, to avoid putting swirl marks in your clear coat, use the 2 bucket method. One to hold your suds, the other plain rinse water. Also, try and avoid washing in circles, go in straight lines instead. Those two things alone will eliminate 90% of scratches on your car. These are detailers tricks that anyone can do easily.
If I can, I would like to criticize your comment. First off, I would like to ask if you even WATCHED the video. That's a valid question because your "advice" is already shown IN THE VIDEO. Look at 1:50 they did use two buckets, 5:08 they washed in straight lines not circle AND they tell you to use two buckets!!! I have to admit, they did do circles at some point, but they were spot on with everything else. So back to my question, did you watch the video at all???

Calvin Ho I did see him doing circles, also while claying and applying wax do straight lines. It won't necessarily eliminate scratches, but you won't see them as well as when you do circles, that's when you get swirl marks.

MurderLikeDJ The cameras were fine, its just that back in the day RUclips could not support higher quality video. Much like when RUclips just started supporting 4K video and 60fps recently.

I love how you guys never take the lazy quick way. You take off the whole wheels just to clean in the rims. I'm a VW detailer, and I've never even done that.
So many people don't realize how important regular waxing is to preserve your car's finish.

Yes newspaper with glass cleaner is one of the best options for cleaning glass on the EXTERIOR of the car but you cannot use it on the interior because standard glass cleaner destroys the tint. If you don't have tint, then not a problem, otherwise you will need a separate product for the interior.

i had a sony ericson.... i don't remember the name, but it was made in 2009 if i remember right.
Turtle wax ice is the only product ill ever use on my cars and the best product I've ever used!!! Not tring to sell this product. Just from my own experience. One thing I do is actually go to a car wash place and then Just go back over the whole car with ice detailing wax spray or even rewash my whole car with ice and then the detailing spray. I know it seems like a waste of money but I get the fastest and best results that way.

Decent video, but a lot of things went wrong towards the end. When you wash, dry, claybar, and wax you want to do it in the same direction as each step... such as front to back, or side to side. Never circular because you'll introduce swirls into the paint unless your cloths are extremely high quality, and the paint is surgically clean. At the end watching him use the rotary buffer really made me cringe... The pad was never kept flat, and if you were to do a strip of all the polishing agents you would see holograms, swirls, and buffer trails in the sun. When this is done correctly, you will want to remove all the polish and compound (as well as the oils) to check your progress and then seal the paint with a wax, sealant, or coating. Lastly, the amount of wax that was put on was INSANE. When it comes to wax, thin is in, you're just making it hard on yourself when you put on a thick coat.

Pigeons typically live 5 to 10 years in the wild... So the pigeon that crapped on that car before the video was possibly the child or grandchild, of the pigeon that crapped on it 18 years back.
pigeons are not as bad as people at Walmart parking ,I just bust butt truck shinning then scumbag pulls up and no curticy open the door bam and just looked at me don't even say sorry, I would have just keyed the hell out the car then probably let the air out!! Great episode guys! Also, if you have touch up paint for your car you can get rid of small stone chips by dropping a small amount of paint into the chip, waiting for it to dry, then lightly sand (with a 2000 grit sandpaper). Finish by gently buffing the area :) (This works best on solid colours like red, white, yellow, ect. But if you have metallic or pearl paint you can do the same, just make sure you cover your base coat with a drop of fast setting clear)

Hey, this is an old vid. so the comment wont matter. but you should only use straight lines when waxing rather then circles. this is because the straight line scratches... if any... are easier to remove with buffing then a circular scratch.,
If the car is clean (which is should be if you cleaned it properly) and you're using clean sponges/cloths/etc (which you should be) then there shouldn't really be any scratches.
That is what you hope for. And will most likely be the case. I just do straight lined so that if a scratch does occur it is easier to remove. Thank you for replying to my comment
Michael West You would be surprised how dirty a freshly "cleaned" car can be. Also random dust from the air can still get on the car if youre doing it outside. Just be safe and do straight lines
Can't say I ever had that issue when I was a detailer. Might have had something to do with the high pressure hose and the chemicals we used, I'm not sure.
Not saying it's not possible for crap to remain on the body after a wash, just saying if you do it thoroughly with good equipment, it should be fine.
I dont know if its got anything to do with being easier to remove, its probably more to do with the way you will only see it from one direction, rather that being able to see the damage from any angle.

you can use an all wheel and tire cleaner like Eagle One A2Z on the wheel wells before you wash. I also spray the lower body panels where grime tends to stick with that stuff and it eats it away, then I just wash my car with carwash and its good as new. I have also heard that the old newspaper trick on your glass isn't as effective anymore, something to do with either the paper they use or the chemicals in the ink dont react the same way as the 70s or 80s, still looks nice though. great video.

if you do your own mechanic work on the cars and dont have the fender protectors there is this stuff called bug and tar remover that i got from turtle wax. removes grease without much time or effort and doesnt remove paint its also good for the plastic interior panels that have buildup from anything on your hands

Really gotta get my MK4 GLI waxed, its not a clean car has alot of scratches from the previous owner and really hate water spots on my car cant seem to get em off gotta really uss some water spot removal, it shows more since its a black car.
I have been reading and doing research on the pressure washer. Some other say it will damage the car's paint and some other say no it doesn't. Some other say it will hurts the "clear coat" of the car's paint. I understand only thing that will hurt the car's paint is when using pressure washer too close around one inch? 1800 psi pressure washer is special made for car? What is your opinion and advice?

i just use a chamois on the outside though after the wash without any product?
on the inside i use a cloth somewhat similar to a chamois with windex and it doesn't leave any smears!

awesome video I did with what you did with the Golf On my 2003 LS Magna sedan, I have a limited edition 2001 wheels from a lancer I take the tires off at least once a year and wash them twice, and I always do a double wash but the polishing bit im very worried about, i always have a fear of hurting the clear coat and I have very very very little sun damage that can be fixed and I want to get rid of it but I would never be confident enough to try and remove it myself, any advice?
