I'll be honest i miss these simple old videos. Your high production quality of your new stuff is outstanding, but this is where it all began, this is what started my love affair with MCM. moog, you are so sarcastic in your earlier stuff, bring some of that back.

golden alloys are pretty traditional according to rally history...
sso when i have blue subaru with golden rims , am i punchable...fkin nonsens, as long as americans know shit about rally, they dont have right to judge what is or what is not right...same shit when i will say that nascar rims on 85 caprice are making you punchable(its looking great to me tbh)....its still normal, wheels were originally mounted golden, they will be golden, me personally wud not paint em

Instead of using masking tape to stop spraying the tires, try putting playing cards around the entire way between the tire and wheel, much quicker and works fantastically :)

I find it easier to partially submerge my cans in a bucket of warm water. :)
You can leave them like it while doing the prep.

Sweet video guys. Wish I had seen it before I tried painting my wheels last time. Perhaps I wouldn't have failed so badly! At first I said, "what's wrong with gold rims? And they're going to paint match?!" But that paint match looks awesome. Never thought I'd like that. I think I'll skip the match though on my blue Subaru! Aaand off to watch more MCM videos!

So how many HP does the red caliper paint add? And is it necessary to get the full HP from the wheel paint?

You can fix runs in base but you need to sand them down with a proper grit sandpaper. If you wet sand base coat it'll give it less of the ripply powder coat effect and more of a solid plated or mirror type finish. You can make plain base coat shine entirely on it's own with some proper wet sanding and patience, still clear coating is necessary to protect your wheels and will give it an even higher gloss finish.
I want to actually paint the tires. Not the rims. Is there a way for me to paint the tires purple? I was looking for purple tires online, but they don't exist.

Best video available, especially the ideas how to repair car paint scratch. Another resource I also found helpful for spray paint car rims was moorack car spray miracle - it should be on Google if you need it

Hey man, I did exactly what they did in this video. I sanded the original coating down to bare aluminum, primed and repainted them black with a can. The looked great for a season but with rough gritty streets they didn't last long. The initial results are great but don't expect a factory durable finish. Hope this helps. All the best.

LungHotBox 420 I think you can but it will kind of fade over time and won’t have as good a result as doing it properly but it should work

It is very nice video .Even if you were to plastidip these wheels, you would still need to do all the prep work, use a filler primer, a base coat (plastidip) and then the plastidip glossifier.However, when you have the method in corbandy car sprayer crusher you'll find an easy system that will work whenever you like.

I know bought it brand new of the show room floor in 93'. It got totaled and had about 100k on the clock. Which was really good and no rust!
does this same method work with chrome wheels? i currently have chrome wheels with some rust pitting nd it seems the only method to get rid of it is to use some steel wool and scrape it off the fims then repaint...

Like they said, prep work is everything - but so is the follow through...
I've had Dupli-painted wheels for multiple years and they still look as good as they did when I first painted them. Before even riding them I let everything cure for 5 days before buffing/waxing them to add that final level of protection :) The one thing I'd highly recommend that's not mentioned in this video is using Etching Primer prior to Filler Primer, as well as Primer Sealer prior to Base Coats.

Im about to take on this fun project but i have one question. How long do the rims have to sit before being remounted? Driven on?
If you want to paint your wheels black, use duplicolor 1200 F high heat paint. That stuff is bullet proof. Painted my exhaust manifold heatshield and never peeled once. Also scrubbed the paint hard with various different styles of cloth when it got dirty and its still in 100% condition. Combine that with some plasti dip silver metalizer and it will looks stunning. Gives it a nice metallic shine, although not sure how well it will stick to the paint.

what grit did you use to even it out after the 240 grit? and did you use that one to sand the filler primer?

im actually looking at getting new rims or painting my rims that are on the car now I don't know what I'll do it may just be easier to buy new ones because I also not a huge fan of the look of the rims itself but this is awesome and I will probably try it on the rims i got right now if i get new ones. heck the rims on right now could go on the winter tires if they get a nice coat of paint
