Got a Mazda 3 turbo last December for my daily. Drove it 50k miles. The first mod I'm making is a big brake kit, wheels & tires. The brakes are the car's greatest weakness. OK until you do more than a minute or two spirited driving, then they fade hard. And I live in the mountains... so that happens a lot. Going with corksport probably. Wheels so I don't have to use shims, and with 17 inch diameter instead of 18 to help with potholes.
I have a prosthetic leg, and I used to sort of limp around. When I had a new one made, I had a chopped sticker placed on the carbon fiber under the gel coat, and now I can walk and run faster
The best advice is not to over do it. Never benchmark power levels to a race car. Always have a target in mind and STICK TO IT. Daily driving, reliability drivability and maintainability (RDM) is priority. Only then comes power, handling, etc.
Hey guys, just want to say that I've been loving the golf content the last year or so. As a mk7 GTI owner myself, and engineer at that, this is absolutely the best golf content on youtube. You didn't mention which tune you flashed with the accessport, but I can't recommend a tuner like EQT or Stratified enough. Cobb doesn't put the time into the golf platform that they did on subarus, and looking at datalogs my EQT files run much smoother, with less knock feedback, all while making more power. Keep up the great content!
In the states I had APR on mine but it had to be done at a physical location. For a flash tune Integrated Engineering that you can do at home is also a great option imo.
Came here to say this, general consensus amongst VW people is cobb tune isn't good, access port is useful though, sneaky tuned or stratified comes up a lot as recommended. I went with IE on my mk6
Love my MK7 sport, and I’m graduating with a degree in mechanical engineering in two weeks! Can’t wait to have some extra money to get a southbend clutch and go stage 1.
So happy you guys made your way back to the MK7. In my opinion, they are one of the most easily modifiable cars out there that have the looks, refinement, and practicality to make it THE BEST daily driver on the road. I'd argue that it also has one of the best motors as far as tuning and capability goes. Being able to push close to 2.5X the stock HP of the car and still being reliable is unheard of from every other car manufacturer.
Absolutely love this video! The only thing now would be to do another modernisation car video for those of us who have older cars for a daily but want more modern flairs - not just euro interior lights, but convert to LED, autofold side mirrors, revisit aftermarket central locking, as well as the bluetooth headset, niceties in the car, and all these little things that wouls make a brand new car owner on a budget feel like a million bucks.
Thanks for the end of the video! Sick of this new "era" where showing off your numbers and fancy brands are more important than enjoying your car and have fun with your mates! Keep up with it!
The purity is real on this "GolfsWagon" 😂 I guess Turbo Yoda has been down to help out with the Grovel getting the flat 6 fitted( sorry don't the engine codes), can't wait to see SuperGramps 2.0!
Just because of the end bit I'm buying merch. I'm so happy that you guys are doing your own thing whilst everyone's doing 1600 whp JZ/LS/supercar builds. I love the fact you like a golf or a brz more than a lotus.
The fact they said big things are coming with the sti-vorg… and then a turbo yoda cameo. That man knows Subaru’s, I’m betting we will be seeing more of him!!
When the backseat guest popped up it gave me a proper grin, glad to know things are friendly with them all. Got a bit worried considering we'd not seen him on the channel in a while
Awesome and just in time. Oh my second MQB GTI. Had an MK7 which I then upgraded to MK7.5. Currently running an EQT Stage 2 93OCT tune (USA) on COBB AP, and EQT is literally the best ECU tune on the market right now. Performance Pack brakes, LSD and extra 10 HP are so damn worth it over a “standard” GTI and really helps to put the power down. I would recommend you guys stick with the stock DV, because the revised design is very robust and I have no issues running it on my stage 2 tune. I had a Forge BOV which sounded cool, but just gave me error codes after a few months and eventually failed. Love the MK7/7.5 and literally bought another one because the MK8 interior touch buttons were a deal breaker during my test drive. Keep it up guys been subscribed since day one !
I can vouch, for I too am running the EQT stage 2 tune great tune, no knock safe on the engine and super linear feels like stock just kicked up quite a few notches 😂
Love this series. Got a basic A4 1.8 from 2014 and been installing minor bits and pieces, great to see "normal" cars still getting attention on this channel!
Having owned VAG car for a couple years and changing between winter/summer tires, using a wheel alignment pin or "Tommy bar" is a game changer. I haven't seen you guys use one and definitely recommend it. I love the content! Keep it going!
Man I love you guys, not only are your videos helpful and informative, but you do it while having a laugh and not taking yourselves to seriously. Been watching your video's since it all started on a driveway and without a doubt you guys just get better n better, I look forward to your next installment.
3:53 I replayed this about 5 times trying to pay attention to what he's saying about the slip joints. Every single time I didn't process what he's saying because I was distracted laughing at IN THE BIN
Loving the VW Golf build so far, guys! So so good! Also big shout out for getting me back into my love of cars and doing my own work. I now maintain and modify my Golf R myself. Made sure to rep y'all with my Super Garage hat at my track day, yesterday! :D
I would love a follow up video covering your experience with the reliability of this setup, particularly the tune. I just bought a 2019 autobahn edition because I needed a reliable daily and I was planning to keep it stock for reliability but after driving it for a few days I feel like I’m gonna want to do the turbo inlet, intake, exhuast and tune at some point 😂
Had a mk5 GTI and the amount of DV's that I went through was insane before finding out about GFB's DV+. - I miss that car. Not gonna lie really tempting me to go for a Mk7/7.5 now. Keep up the great work guys.
Tires really are the best mod, wheels if you have large balloons. Tyre Reviews did a test with a Mk 7 GTI on 17" vs 18" vs 19" wheels (a couple years ago?) with the same tire model, same inflated diameter, and found the 18" was objectively the best. Less cabin noise than either the 17 or 19, better handling than the 17, more comfort than the 19.

Love the videos, been a subscriber since yous were making videos on a driveway on the mk4 golf and the 180sx and the civic also.. awesome videos throughout, much love. From Scotland
Nice video. I have a 2017 MK7 GTI SE DSG and absolutely love her. I must say that I disagree with the order of the mods on the GTI's. The first thing I did to mine was to replace the soft stock rear sway bar and plastic end links with a stiffer 034 bar and metal endlinks. The difference in handling was not subtle. The front end understeer was reduced and overall handling was much tighter with less body roll in the corners, and she's still comfortable on the street. It doesn't make sense to me to add more power without first sorting the suspension and handling. Next mods I did were air intake, turbo inlet pipe & hose and then a lighter set of stylish rims. My GTI is a great daily and I plan to keep on the upgrade mod path as budget allows. Looking forward to the rest of the build series on your GTI. Keep up the excellent work gents. Peace.
Ahhhhhhhh my jaw dropped when Turbo Yoda showed up! Yessssss! Please start doing projects with your friends again, we miss seeing you and yoda and benny altogether in videos.
Many its been so long since MCM chose some different parts. I'm so happy. Normally its all "durr muh Invidia exhaust" but they went cobb and im so happy ya'll did something different.
I've had my beloved Iriz from Proton for eight years now. I've replaced the original factory projector to an aftermarket version which houses the D4S bulb and my night drive satisfaction has increased ten-fold. Anther best thing about my Iriz's headlights is that it has a dedicated low-beam and high-beam, so I now have a total of six supposedly light beams. I'm planning to upgrade my wheels from 15" to 17" but afraid of the car losing it's value. Not to the marketplace, but my eyes because I'm going with a simple OEM look and looking for stock rims from any german brands. But, who knows... I might change my mind and end up doing everything I wanted 'coz the major modifications were those projectors and a new spray paint after seven years.
You can actually modify the original intake for more power as well. Was super easy to do on my mk7 with an oscillating cutting tool. I was just in Australia from the US this past month. Cheers mates!
i feel like everyone glosses over interior car modifications so much and I don't understand it, that's literally where you are 99% of the time you own your car. Here is my list (Audi A4) that absolutely was a game changer and worth every penny: 1) Android/Carplay Headunit, works wirelessly so I don't even take my phone out, steering wheel controls work as well. also gave me reverse camera function, most expensive but so worth it 2) Rewrapping my steering wheel with red stitching, not to be confused with a steering wheel cover, this makes your steering wheel look completely brand new and even better 3) Ambient lighting, I used LED strips that went into the interior trim so it looks OEM. its not just the cheap ass footwell lights, it's actually integrated in my interior 4) plush memory foam headrest covers, almost looks like those maybach pillows 5) dashcam mirror screen, this goes over my actual mirror and is hooked up to a camera in the back. the viewing angle is wide enough that actually covers my blindspots
TURBO YODA!!!!! I can only think of one reason he's there (aside from hanging with mates, of coursE). I'm stoked to see what he's going to do with the Grovel.
That Moog scream while chasing that wheel haha! Super love how the Hond... Volkswagen is sounding, that turbo blow off just so amazing! So happy seeing Turbo Yoda from the backseat, did not even notice him until they talked.
Great video although when talking daily use i would say from experiance you don't want to go too mad on the exhaust, especially if you do motorway miles as the drone can get pretty exhausting.
awesome stuff guys. Al being in Marty's GTi and saying it's a Honda. for those that remember, there's a pleasing circularity to this from when Marty had Supergramps worked on by Al, and during the episodes, Moog would ask "will this fit my Honda?"
Can we talk about the moment where Marty was cutting right at Moog's face with the exhaust? 😆 Moog: Because of you, the exhaust hanger removal tool became known to me, and became my all time favorite tool!
Great point with not seeing the wheels. Exhaust can be done much cheaper. For that reason I'd say Exhaust first, wheels and tires second, then any other little things along the way
Some channel lock pliers also work decent for exhaust hangers if you don't have a specialty tool. Open them wide and put the bottom tooth on the metal hanger (outside of bushing) & the top on the opposite side of the bushing then squeeze. 🤙
I knew there would be an Alan in a video soon, I'm glad he was here for this one. Lol. Now I think I know what's up. He's gonna be helping with the levorg. Prove me wrong.
Return to form for MCM , great to see Al , possible co-lab with skid fktry?, loved the out take reel at the end. What is Marty’s intentions for the fridge on wheels?
This was hilarious, I finally found the right channel to get me into the car community. Crossing my fingers that the 325i I'm looking at goes through inspections fine 😅
Love this series, I have a mk7 gtd in white, it has some aftermarket wheels that fit properly (also 8.5j and all that) gti rear end etc. It's been mapped to around 220bhp and with the dsg goes like shit off a shovel. This is going to be a good inspiration for my future mods. Also so happy to see Al in the video and I hope he's the one building the levorg. 👌👌
I added a Roush TVS supercharger to me Mustang GT and it's definitely not wrecked. It drives as easily as a stock car, still gets decent mileage and is fast enough to be pretty interesting at the dragstrip without having to cut it for a cage.
I love how the airfilterbox makes the engine bay look, does cobb ship to the netherlands, and will it fit? (i've heard they have different stuff on germans overseas)
I don't know what's happened to Marty, I mean he's always been a little bit weird what with all the Daihatsu's and stuff, but I think he's finally lost the plot. Please take care of him Moogs, make sure he takes his meds, and great idea to bring along Al for an intervention.
🔥last chance. Use code BF20 for 20% off everything. Grab some merch here mightycarmods.com/collections/

"Dog with an itchy bum" is the best analogy I've ever heard for a FWD car.
Tires really are the best mod, wheels if you have large balloons.

Enjoy every video you put out! Even the missus loves them and that’s a massive achievement.
Love your positive vibes ❤
You might need to code out "Starting vibration reduction" to prevent the power being cut to the wheels.
Great to see Al on a mcm video again
Love this series, I have a mk7 gtd in white, it has some aftermarket wheels that fit properly (also 8.5j and all that) gti rear end etc. It's been mapped to around 220bhp and with the dsg goes like shit off a shovel. This is going to be a good inspiration for my future mods. Also so happy to see Al in the video and I hope he's the one building the levorg. 👌👌
Schluhp! Greeting from Germany and a GTD driver. Banger video again
I added a Roush TVS supercharger to me Mustang GT and it's definitely not wrecked. It drives as easily as a stock car, still gets decent mileage and is fast enough to be pretty interesting at the dragstrip without having to cut it for a cage.
Best mod ever. Personal Yoda on the back seat.
cat delete is very highly illegal and the fines are huge and double the price... 2 seconds later: TIME TO REMOVE THE CAT!
Yesssss!!! So good to see Alan back on this channel too
I love how the airfilterbox makes the engine bay look, does cobb ship to the netherlands, and will it fit? (i've heard they have different stuff on germans overseas)
You're back guys. That's a great issue, or episode, video.. whatever, mint. The milkshake story is a winner.
For anyone wondering these are the SSR GTX04 wheels
Finally some VW content, the brand that makes MCM.
Thoughts on a TCU tune, yes or no? Usual a key part to these cars when you do an engine Tune to get the shifting optimised
Yes! Absolutely recommended for the dsg that's stage 1.
Stage 1 is whatever you decide stage 1 is lol. Such a useless term
def bro, dsg was already quick the tcu tune makes it even more crispy
OMG.... Allen..... i just jumped my seat when i saw him.... oh three legends in one car once again... I have lived my life.... Golfsvagn
I don't know what's happened to Marty, I mean he's always been a little bit weird what with all the Daihatsu's and stuff, but I think he's finally lost the plot. Please take care of him Moogs, make sure he takes his meds, and great idea to bring along Al for an intervention.
😂 yess Al coming by was the best!!!
I mean, it's cool but it's no Juke Nismo RS.
