MCM flip edition should be a regular thing
@MIGHTYCARMODS I'm calling complete BULLSHIT on this being done in one day.. Have you really tried cutting and polishing a car after only a few hours drying time on single pack paint?
Absolute bullshit. No way you cut and polish a rattle can acrylic paint job within hours without melting / ripping / tearing the paint off in patches
@mightycarmods Pls do a mod series with a suzuki cappuccino and do a track race v the honda mini
Thanks for the video, I would love to see you save more cars from the crushers. Especially the ones in great shape dumped because the owner just didn't feel like selling it or fixing a small issue.
You guys need to have a race to. See who make the most on the less dollar as texting I hear you say this
Absolutely make more of these flipping videos. I reckon they're probably a bit more relaxing for you guys too and can help recharge for the big multi-video year long projects
Yup. You guys could do a flip video whenever you want to m
For sure. Really enjoyed it.

I'd love to see a backtoback 2 car episode in this style. Loved it
@@aaronhopping1349 good idea

Yeah not a word about compression or clutch, or rust for that matter…
I'd give that single stage clear coat 3 months before it is toast. Ask me how i know.
@@warwicks2780 Yeah, but when you sell a car at the price they did, the buyer has to expect problems. The bumper fix, tailgate replace, interior cleaning and brake service all are things the new owner doesn't have to worry about.
Rust isn't much of a problem in Australia as I understand it

How many attempts?
@@R03333came here to say that. Lord of the bins
Legitimately love the message you guys push here. People are so willing to just throw something away at the first minor inconvenience, and it extends now to more than just material stuff. Relationships, friendships, marriages. People don't try to fix or maintain anything, they just throw it away first little challenge. The world as a whole is losing mechanics and blue collar workers by the droves. There's gonna be a renaissance one day, but it's gonna be rough until then.
Appreciate you guys.
Oh, I need more of this old-style MCM please. Keep it coming guys.
Exactly! This totally felt like a throwback episode
24 hour car flip, UK edition: spend 2 hours trying to undo bolt, shear it off. Cross thread sump plug while staring aghast at holes in cross members. Rear wiper is rusted on. De-gas Aircon by accident while wrestling with oil filter that has been tightened with impact hammer. Cry into swarfega pot.
that sounds eerily familiar
As a UK based owner of a dirty old Nissan 350z I can fully confirm this!
@@pauldethick6175 a fine choice sir
My favourite is the seized bolt that the previous owner has had a go at and failed. Looks ok at first, but only because the rust has formed into the rough shape of a hex head. Socket needs hammering on, then spins freely on the perfectly rounded off head. Car won't go through MOT test without replacing the part this bolt is holding on. Urgh
At least all the crying flushes all the bits of rust out your eyes
Weirdbeard signing in!
Some Clio tips
- Oil filter is heaps easier to get to when you remove the fuel rail guard (2 x 10mm nuts, piece of piss to remove).
- Oil leaks will be the sump gasket (needs subframe dropped or engine lifted up to get the sump out, yay) and the gearbox driveshafts or gear selector seal.
Thanks for keeping another 172 on the road!
Exactly!
There's absolutely no chance the glovebox accessory was already in the car, it for sure came from Moog's collection
...or from Cheryl's mystery box

Local company I worked for fired a guy. He didn't get to clean out the work ute. They found a flesh light under the drivers seat
The dried remnants is what was censored.
You guys spent more time mopping the floor than fixing the car in this episode 😂
This felt like the classic MCM we all "grew up" with.
One of your best vids for a while guys, great work.
Haha the glovebox accessory 😅
Probably would have increased their profit if they left it.

I'd love that Clio Sport get some more attention, such a underrated and fun cars, alongside with the whole Renault Sport lineup, but I'm a bit biased lol
Didn't you hear the comment about the oil filter ? I doubt they would go back into that engine bay anytime soon lol.
@@JemmC89 Just Renault things, you get used to it

@@Simon78 character building... like replacing the window regulators.... but they are great cars, I miss my 225 megane.. even with all its many short comings.
Moog!! What you said there, 12:26 to 12:48, needs to be printed in BOLD on a poster! Right away. That may be one of the most vital, timely messages you ever put out -- certainly one that resonates with me. Bravo!!
100%
this resonated with me too!
100% agree! Though, I admit that since I had issues with my renault kangoo, my confidence for working on cars has decreased heaps
Absolutely this! When can we see it in the store?!
This is the new wheeler dealers. Loved that show when I was a kid.
Was looking for this comment! Aussie Wheeler Dealers MCM style, love it!
i had a 182 as my first car and still have it in mint condition! great cheap little pocket rocket
Your FIRST car?! You jammy bugger 😊
As a Renault sport and Clio enthusiast I'm a bit upset the first time I see it you're not buying it because you realise it's one of the best hot hatches ever made.
We did a Renault build in France. Check it out on our channel
@@mightycarmodsan RS clio is a whole different animal than the oil burner you lads borrowed.
@@mightycarmodsWeird Beards!😂
Owning one myself it’s an underrated car that should be explored further. I hope they buy another one someday to actually drive and use on the track.
I’ve owned a 182 was the best fast road car I’ve owned I miss it you guys would be surprised what one would do to your golf’s around a track 👌💎
That comment you made about painting a Civic outside brought me back. I think that was around the time I discovered your channel, or a little after. You guys were making a "fake Type R" hatchback with a "turbo" but you used some kind of turbo sound speaker box that changed according to the acceleration pedal position to sound like a bov. I remember it was a black hatch. I remember a bunch of the guys we still see on the show now, pulled up to that driveway to assist you back then. You both truly have come along way. Even your friends have too. It's been a long fun journey so far!
That little anecdote about repairing things and not just being horrible mindless consumers. That resonated. Knew you guys were legends but new respect for this mentality.
Heroes! I got my 1999 Jimny to work on just a week ago! Got a spot of rust to fix and it needs a full paint job and you guys have shown it all! You 2 have been endless inspiration for me.
I'm a serial Clio pervert. There are a shit load of quirks with them so watching someone fix one just makes you go "I bet they get caught out with the rear caliper slot and the peg on the pads"🤣
at least they didn't find out the hard way that the rear brake disks are integrated with the rear wheel bearings (similar to the drum brakes on some cars) and cost 4x as much as regular brake disks.
I@@AlexanderBurgers I have this with the front discs on my vw T3. It's a shit system from a maintenance perspective.
It's when people miss out the bearing spacer and then find out their bearings are knackered after about 10 miles. Got to love the French
@@AlexanderBurgers
Same deal for the rear drums.
@@Techtiqal
It's a one piece bearing on any Clio.
That is the episode we needed. I have been watching Mighty Car Mods for 10 years and this episode gets me back to the time I started watching MCM. thank you guys for this episode it is great. Many thanks and good wishes from Bulgaria.
loving the back to your roots kinda feel, love these kinda videos guys
GREAT episode. More of this please
Love the message behind this video. And honestly it's my favorite type of content. I love seeing cars flipped from crap to great
great show fellas been watching since the start, this is what mcm was, good to see you back at your routes nice and fun to watch
a great result in the time but you would have to admit, being in a major city, not paying for consumables and having extra helpers does make it a lot easier. having said that, i would like to see a similar thing done on your friend's channels, the world's best 4x4 channel and the world's best motorcycle channel.
Good work guys. Too many people these days have no passion or love for their vehicles. They would rather trade it in for their next POS and keep moving that way. I've owned my 02 Pajerp for 6 years, I've done a top end rebuild, front diff, power steering racks, rust repair, respray and now I'm looking at all bushes to be done. I have spent well more than the car is worth the buy another one or even a newer one but I love the car so will keep spending the money to keep it running. Plus I know what has been done and what hasn't unlike trying to buy another 2nd hand car.
I'm loving these kind of videos keep up the good work lads 👍
You guys are the best. I was feeling down, and this video made me forget my problems. So I wanted to say thank you for consistently making such good content!!
The "in the bin" clip is the greatest thing to ever happen to MCM
Honestly….haven’t been enjoying MCM as much as I used to (apart from the Up! GTi series) BUT THIS HAS BROUGHT THAT ALL BACK ROUND! Absolutely loving this, feels like the older days of MCM, really looking forward to the next few fix ups-maybe even on a driveway?
I've been doing a similar thing with motorcycles for the past couple of years, buying the cheapest example of a bike that I want to experience riding, although I keep mine for a little longer than this. For me the joy is in bringing something back from the dead & the experiencing in using it. Saving something that's still useful & would otherwise be thrown away is far more important to me than what I'll get when I decide to eventually flip it. Kudos to the boys though for saving a useful car from certain death.
This is a great idea for more videos. I hit "Like" before the opening montage!
Thanks for giving me something great to watch while I fight through Cancer. Laughter and smiles are great medicine.
Thanks!
Here I am owning a 182 and you guys drop this video. Excellent
Awesome! Absolutely love this kinda stuff from you! I've been doing cars and bikes like this for a few years now and I can say it's worth it even if the only payment is the experience.
Love this glad to see this stuff! Feels like og MCM days! Glad you've not lost track of the channel!! Good onya boys
that pod filter blind throw was so good
Did I miss the part where they determined where the oil leak was and fixed it? Or was brake cleaner the "fix"?
It's now the next man's problem
Love this type of content. I’ve been watching you guys since the driveway. Had all,of your videos downloaded when you had them on iTunes.
One of the best episodes for yonks. I totally agree with the philosophy too. I just fixed a computer chair that was headed for the tip with a couple of pieces of aluminium plate, a drill and an angle grinder. It doesn't look stock but no-one but me sees it and I have a working computer chair again.
Useless random fact, the silver little silver trim on the steering wheel is an optional extra. I worked for Renault about 12 years ago when these where newer and more popular and we sold alot of those trims as a nice interior upgrade.
Phase 2 Clio Sports ❤. Sad it wasn’t a new project!
Yay finally! After years of MCM watching and a Clio Sport 182 owner - a Clio Sport on MCM! Met Marty at the UK Renault Sport Clio meet years ago, glad it’s finally worked his way into the nugget part of his brain! Top job lads! 🎉🎉
Excellent work, you two!!!! Love it, and I hope to do something similar soon. Has been quite a few years since I did something similar - it is always mad fun.
The production style of this episode feels like it could be on the BBC
Once of the hosts did just spend a whole bunch of time with a BBC film crew, so some of that might have rubbed off :)
@@JimOHalloran to be fair it’s been brilliant for years
@@23gatesy Absolutely agree. I'm not a "car guy" but I'd watch Marty and Moog work on just about anything.
Totally rewatching this,uve got a new sub,awesome stuff💪
I fixed a MK2 Clio myself during lockdowns... unless it has some serious problems, they are easy to fix and are uncharacteristically reliable once done up. SUPER FUN TO DRIVE TOO
This video couldn't have come at a better time. I recently picked up an Audi S3 that had hit an emu for $200 dollars it has alot of the same problems as this Renault. Thank you heaps Marty n Moog for all the top tier professional advice. Keep em' coming.
I would love more of this keeping-cars-on-the-road-content from you guys. Always a great pleasure to watch!
Great content! Currently have an E46 flip car in my fleet. Cleaned and serviced, new tires, upgraded to 17" wheels, tossed in some sport seats I had, fixed some electrical gremlins, and it's pretty much ready to go to a new home and put a couple of grand in my pocket! Know what you're getting into and be ready to pull the plug if it's too far gone.
SICK episode! I love this guys! Well done!!
Thank you for spreading such a good message guys. Sorely needed in this world.
Loved this video!!! Really enjoy when you lads do this type of content
This is Fantastic!
Great stuff guys
Can't wait to see what you flip next
Keep your cars going. I got into DIY repairs back in 2017. I've also found a great local parts yard. That's allowed me to keep my 2006 Dodge Dakota on the road.
Really enjoyed this video. Make some more of these. Surprising how much you can tidy up a cheap car.
With a simple clean and machine polish you can really transform some of these older cars.
Classic MCM vid . Love seeing you boys back at your roots. Been here from the start and it feels a little bit like home
Hell yeah keep these kinds of videos coming!
Great message and great episode. Keep these coming! The flip videos are great.
Love this ! Had a Clio for a first car and all about keeping things going. Restoring a Citroen axgt currently which has sat in a field for 14 years. The amount of rust is nothing like you would see in Australia (from the uk myself) but it’s taught me the basics of welding 🙂 all a great learning experience and story’s to tell
What an awesome episode.
Really enjoyed this.
Quite different from the usual modifying❤
This is going back to the roots how I remember when I started watching MCM back in the days.
Looking forward to more of these.
Whilst i love most of the stuff you put out, i enjoyed this so much! Definitely would like more of this!
You guys just keep making it real and interesting. Always great watching 👏
This was great! More of these please!
Good stuff! Looking forward to see more video's like this one.
Love these vids! Good job!
I always know a kick a** montage is coming when chasing midnight starts up in the background :-D just wanted to say I love watching you guys, been watching for nearly as long as you've been making stuff. So many other shows, channels, creators have come and gone, but you guys are still you, working on nuggets. Keep doing this as long as it makes you happy, because it sure as heck makes a whole lot of us happy too.
Been flipping cars for the last 15 years on the side. Great video and it a great way to fund your main project car.
Couple of bangers in there Moog. Love the content and the original beats.
This is a great episode because you two can show people how to do this on their own. Great job guys loved the video.
Waited all day to get off work and watch this episode, awe man how good. Thanks guys I look forward to your show it keeps me going eh
You guys are awesome keep it up 🤙🏽
Saving car lives one at a time, love it! Great episode as always 🫡
Awesome video guys! I can’t wait to see more of this type of content!
That was different and awesome, I really enjoyed that guys🤙
Really enjoyed the subject and format 😊👍👍
I just love this, a complete new show for ya guys! Well done !!!
Really excited to see a Clio Sport on the channel. I’ve owned a phase 2 172 for 5 years and I’m getting close to selling. I’ve had so much fun in that little car, last of the great NA hot hatches!
Don’t sell it you’ll regret it! I’m on my third RS Clio. Made the mistake of selling twice. This third one is staying with me until the day I die 😂
This. Was. Dope. Great stuff!
Everything about this was fantastic. More please!
Man I forgot how good your videos were! I’ve been a fan for over a decade. Keep the vids coming! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Great vid. I hope this becomes a full series.
This is so satisfying to watch! Please make more of these rescue videos. ❤
I had a Phase 1 Clio 172, they are a serious piece of kit. Really fast with their rev happy engines and short ratio gearboxes, great value for money with cheap parts, apart from the lidicrously expensive and rare engines and transmissions.
That song that starts at 7:30 mark always gets me. I can't recall the specific date when I heard it the first time but it's last year around June or something like that but it was after my gf left me. Hearing this song instantly takes me back to that time after the break up and brings tears in my eyes and makes me think about the things that I had. Struggled the whole year with mental health but now it's getting better day by day. It's been rough but I won't give up just yet.
Nice one lads. Getting back to where you started fixing things and improving on the cheap.
Really enjoyed this episode! Keep working on cool nuggets! 😊
It’s these videos that got me into fixing my own car.
This year I did the head gasket on my 3RZ.
If it wasn’t for MCM I wouldn’t have got into fixing my own cars.
This is an awesome series, please do more of these
Loving this new approach to content, more please (but also carry on with the usual stuff).
Awesome video Guys ❤. It would be a great series. 🔥
This was great thanks for the upload gents!
Love this concept! Well done guys
