We were reminded just how fun a little nugget hatchback can be when we borrowed some cars at a circuit in Japan last year. As soon as we got home we started hunting for something similar, turning a bog standard Swift into a track day thrasher. Hope you enjoy this video and thanks for watching!
I'm pretty sure there is a version of the Swift that has a proper six-speed full sequential g'box. I'd be looking at that mod at some point. And then maybe an electric super charger from TorqAmp.
It's because they used to be more shady about it. It started a huge discussion in their socials 2 or 3 years ago. What seemed to be a build financed from pocket turned out to be a huge sponsored project.
Love the fact you can always buy a faster car, but the passion projects you guys put out is what being part of the car community is all about, taking an old gem and making it the car you envision is always way more of an experience! This is awesome you guys are awesome and cant wait to get my chopped shirt!
I dont see any passion in the build here. Buying super expensive rims and seats while that money could be invested in improving the engine, brakes, suspenison and possibly transmission. The air intake part just demonstrates this perfectly. Buying expensive parts rather than trusting physics is what this build was about.
I got a 2009 Suzuki Swift Sport as my first car last summer, I took it on a 2000km roadtrip through Germany and had an absolute blast. But if it wouldn't have been for the videos you guys made about these I would have scrolled past it on the market place on my quest for a fun first car, I thought it was kinda boring at first but I absolutely fell in love with it the moment I sat down in it and later realized it was probably the best thing I could have gotten with my budget.
Rented one at the Nurburgring 13 years ago, full roll cage, bucket seats, ohlins suspension, good brakes, semis, ceramic clutch... ABSOLUTELY loved it. the best example that, low weight with a good setup is much better than pure HP
ZC32S driver here (fiancée owns it). I've been into Hondas and old Nissans for years, and quite honestly the Swifts are one of those cars that give you the same kind of connected feel and playfulness that so many modern cars lack. It's not scarily quick, but it's quick enough to get you to pace very easily, and keep you at a level you can really learn at. Driving one hard reminds me a lot of old EK4 Civics.
Driving fast in a slow car is more fun then driving fast in the fast car. Because you know the fast car is capable of doing so unlike slow car. Great to see you enjoy driving it and the exhaust sounds great!
wow honestly i watched this video with pure happiness in my eyes. the swift was my first car and i still have her. did all the same mods u guys did but on a cheap budget so im up to £4000 so far. this car is so fun even tho it doesnt make a lot of power always puts a smile on ur face. with the right tyre setup it grips too and its quiet oversteer happy rather than understeer. was so happy when i saw the manifold i have the same one and it really makes the car sounds so good. tad raspy but if u keep a res or a sport backbox doesnt sound a bad raspy. i always send it in this thing and pretend like im in rally. thank you for showing everyone else what a fun little build the swifty can be.
I just fixed that exact same oil leak on my little nugget. There is a trick so thought I'd share it. You don't have to remove the ac compressor or the exhaust, instead remove the front bumper and you can access the bolts front on & it gives you heaps of room due to the swift having a small radiator. I used a 1/4" drive ratchet with flexi and a ratchet spanner. No need to drain the coolant either just move the housing to the side with the line still connected and pull the gasket out.
I am having dejavu like I have seen all this before. Oh wait, I have. I watched the original build series. I am glad you made a condensed version for all of us that don't have time for an 11 part series. I really want to get start in the project car life. I have been watching these guys for like 11 years and there has been nothing that I haven't liked. Keep up the good work guys. Hello from the Arctic Circle.
Thanks for reminding me how good Cash vs Trash was. I reckon a Season 2 where each of you get the same make and model nugget (e.g. Honda Jazz) would be a lot of fun.
You are so right! The Suzuki Swift Sport is a real little rocket. I am the proud owner of a Suzuki Swift Sport MZ "Rock am Ring" and love every day with it.
The production quality on this episode is beyond professional studio quality. You guys really knocked it out of the park this time. Fantastic work as always.
A total rip off, and the trade-off as Moog says, more flow=less filtration with K&N. Plus it’s now a hot air intake, losing pretty much any gains, and except for the intake borp noise that’s it. They ended up with the stock as it works better.
I recently drove one when I went to French Polynesia. We really don’t have them in the US so it was the first time even seeing one, and it was extremely gutless but super nimble. It hates straights but chewed up the corners. I can definitely see how it would be a crazy fun car with the mods on a windy track.
Yup, for better chassis stiffness I would add Beatrush fender bars. To reduce the roll summit RARB and a cusco FARB. Intake, one can go crazy with a suzuki sport ITBs or for me a trust intake. Exhaust same but with a Sunline single endcan. The factory bonnet is quite heavy stock so a CF one will help reduce weight. At higher speed track, a greddy sump guard helps to smooth the air flow under the engine creating 0 lift. For better grip out the corners a LSD will help it tons. Finally, just for the engine sake, a monster sports oil sump baffle plate... due to the oil pick up location, at certain Gs in a corner, it can't pick up oil and can cause premature failure.
one of the best mods i did to mine was fitting a rear swaybar! settled the tendency for them to lift off oversteer recently sold my one and loved every moment of it.
Love the build on this car. Have you guys considered doing a build on the last Suzuki Swift Sport turbo. 2018-2024 33S. It's branded as a warm hatch here, But in Japan, they have made some pretty fast track cars out of them. And yes, some beating true fast hatches. Keep up the great work guys. Cheers, Chris. ;)
I have the 2nd gen Swift Sport, it's such a fun little car. I changed from the original 17" wheels to 16" though, since it gives the option for wider tires and a bigger sidewall allows the tire to work a little better. The rolling diameter of the tires is also a little smaller, which makes the car even more punchy. An exhaust change is a must on these cars, they are way too muted with the stock exhaust. Next on my list is brake pads and coilovers (if the TÜV plays nicely).
I recently picked up the latest swift sport. Such a riot to drive. Feels like an old school hot hatch. Brisk without being overly rapid. Refreshingly simple and solid.
Awesome build! My first car is a Suzuki Swift MT. Had to sell it to get a bigger family car. Swifts have a special place in my heart and hopefully someday I can get one again.
Yes, wheels tyres, seats and a must have, full race harness. Out of all the mods I used for hillclimbs, my race harness gave me almost 2 seconds. Sure my R spec rubber also gave me 2 seconds, but the harness gave me that for 30% of the cost of rubber. And do them in stages, and take notes and see if you can get videos or pictures in corners so you can see what happens when the car is loaded. You need data like entry and exit speeds, tyre temp and suspension changes. That may sound like "over the top" , but if you want to go as fast as the vehicle is capable of, then you must collect data. And get a track app that allows you to see what happened.
Honestly, i think this generation of the Suzuki Swift is underrated, they're a nice kit for not too much, and i think they look good too. And yeah, you can supe these up quite nicely.
I had a Simota intake on my swift which came with a 45 degree maf housing to relocate the filter to the front of the engine bay, would definitely recommend flipping the intake pipe that goes onto the throttle body to get the filter away from the block as they do tend to run a bit hot 😅 wicked car & wicked video boys 🤙🏼
Always loved Suzukis, bikes and cars both. They’re never really the best at anything but they make a real solid product and seem to follow their own star to some degree on what they think a vehicle should be.
I upgraded to zc33s last year it's now 1.4 but turbo, power feels about same but new chassis is super rigid, ride much improved. Try one sometime if you have chance
Monster Swift drove by DKsan was one of the best hatch i have ever seen lapped the Tsukuba Circuit. Since then Swift earned a reputation for being a proper pocket rocket track weapon, even beat the Fit as one of best Hot Hatches on Japanese road.
25k to get smoked by the mighty baguette is a bit sad, but it's still a good little car. It just goes to show how potent Baguette chassis design is! The Swift Sport vs the sort of grocery getter version of the TU in the 206 is apples to oranges, and yet they were very very similar!
Just to mention, it's worth checking the thermostat on these engines, they fail which is very common causing headlift because the car is running hot (temp gauge is very slow and may not even move). Go for a long drive getting the car warm, and check the lower rad hose which is near the gearbox, the hose must be warm or hot - this means the thermostat is opening up. My thermostat didn't open up which was causung my engine to run hot without even telling me.
Saw the Swift Sport for the first time in Singapore. And I absolutely love it. Sad that its not available where I currently live but would love to make a base sport to bring it as close to this one.
Zed is how it’s pronounced when spoken and taught English all over the world. Here in the US are the ones calling it va “zee”… lol, great idea when you already have the letter C 😂
Waaaaaay back in 2009 I was in Germany and went to the nordschlief and rented one of these from rent for ring. Pretty much the same sort of mods but stripped out fully caged and it was a 3 door. Honestly the most fun IV ever had, a highly under rated car.
Hatchbacks are surprisingly fun to drive … I have never owned one but I drove one owned by my cousin..spacious despite its small size feels fast although it’s not lol
My Suzuki GSXR750 is the finest machine ive ridden in my life. Even with no TC or ABS it feels 100% telepathically linked to my mind through every input. People literally will say "dude you were really pushing it in those corners" when to me it just feels like a happy little cruise on a weekend 😂😅
I bought the newer model of the 1.6 sport about 2 months ago. I've owned Impreza and fast Audi's. But this thing is so much fun I love my nifty swifty. Great content as always
If you ever go to the Nurburgring Nordschleife, by far the smartest thing you can do is hire a track-prepped Swift the whole time. It's cheap, and a lot of fun. Because there is nothing less fun than driving a fast car slowly at a track, and practically nothing more fun than thrashing the rings out of a slow car at a track. Plus, if you rent a 911 at the 'Ring you will have to pay the first 15,000 Euros of damage when you crash it. :P So, while a properly specified and prepared Swift won't be setting any lap times you want to tell your friends, well... anywhere, it most certainly WILL provide you with a lot of smiles. And because we know there isn't a car in this world that Moog can set a decent lap time in, it makes absolute and total sense!
I love this car, and i love how many cars this channel showcases that aren't the kinds of things people immediately think of when they think "fun car". Cars like the Swift, the kei truck, the Super Turbo, and all the other nuggets you've had over the years are so delightful and different compared to the quadruple digit power figure cars that only people with twitter buying money can afford. :)
Thank you MightyCarMods for this video! Im from Singapore and i plan on getting a swift for my first car after my license! I really needed a Swift Build video but couldn’t find one, so thank you very much on this video of your nugget build!
Knowing we have a movie coming in couple weeks makes my days viewing mint as all fcck. Cannot wait for the annual feature length movie guys. Up the MCM
The suspension looks like it's very similar to a Honda Fit, if the car doesn't already have a rear sway bar, I highly recommend getting one. It will make more of a difference in handling than the coilovers did. When it comes to POD filters, I really think most people equate the increased induction noise with additional performance, when in reality it's just the ear hole being titillated.
@@estewar03 I mean mean the torsion beam is on a ton of cars. The Honda fit isn't unique in having that suspension design. I also agree the rear sway and brake upgrade would be better than louder intake sounds but ya know, whatever
@christianbartell8649 that's not the only reason I said it was similar.... for example, the front struts are the same design & share the same shitty tophat design. 👍
This really makes me miss my 07 Suzuki SX4 AWD Sportback. Unfortunately we in the states lost Suzuki a decade ago so stock parts are impossible to find let alone aftermarket stuff.
i dig the recap, but that means you two are working on something big…..!! i love your year end videos, and am looking forward to seeing what you have in store for us !!
I love the Suzuki Swift. They can be turned into a curve crusher. I just can't find one in the states any more. People keep them or trash the hell ouf it. Can't wait to see what you do to it. Put a turbo on it wider fenders, roll cage, back roads curve crusher.
Looks like the one in one of Mishas videos on the Nurburgring. Stuck with him pretty well as he was driving a V10 powered M3. They look good in the corners man.
Would’ve been good if you could’ve got your hands on a 206 Gti, yes it’s a 2 litre but closer in performance to the swift than the 1.6 car. Really enjoyed the series.🙂👍🏻
Y'know, we here in the States never got the Swift (though the name was used in our market for the older Cultus), but it reminds me a lot of a car we--and only we--got: the Toyota Matrix. The Matrix was a California-built collaboration with General Motors (it was also sold as the Pontiac Vibe) as a development of the E130 Corolla. Everywhere else in the world had the option of buying a Corolla hatchback or wagon, but we haven't gotten one of those since 1990s; Toyota and GM together threw us a bone by building a rakish-looking five-door hatch on the Corolla platform. They even made a sportier version--the XRS--with the same high-revving 2ZZ-GE engine as in your old Lotus Exige, although the supercharger was an optional extra from the TRD catalogue. Mine's unfortunately from the final production year of the first-gen model, after they discontinued the XRS trim, but with a factory handling kit and stiffer springs, I don't miss the extra 50-odd horsepower too much. It's a low-power, economy hatchback that I can throw full-force into a corner without having to worry about coming out the other side in one piece. Even if I wasn't humiliating much more powerful and expensive cars on a surprisingly frequent basis (read: not always, but it's happened more than once, and one of those times I had a dishwasher in the back), I'd still say it's one of the most fun cars I've driven, right up there with my dearly-departed 1986 MR2. I don't doubt that even a stock Swift is very much the same, and with all the work you've put into it, I have no problem believing all the praise you heap on it is completely genuine. Builds like this one are exactly what got me into this channel in the first place, and I'm always happy when y'all find another underrated economy car to put the spotlight on. Shine on, lads.
From driving modified cars, I jumped into a mates yaris 1.5 n/a, and we had such a laugh it was actually so much fun, it was just a reminder of how simple yet fun driving can be!
Didn't we learn that valuable lesson about the Air Boxes over Pod Filters already? It really dose holds true threw-out all car manufacture, however I've have seen K&N filters installed inside factory Air Boxes.
I have a 2002 WRX that I bought new. In 2012 after 170,000 miles of modifications and driving it like I stole it the engine started knocking. Car sat in garage. In 2019 I bought a 2009 Forester X 2.5 to daily while I fixed the WRX. Bought a replacement JDM engine for the WRX and got to work....sort of. I started the while I am in there with the WRX. Bigger turbo, higher flow fuel pump......etc. Meanwhile I cant drive a stock Forester so I put my Prodrive PFF7s from the WRX on. Nice but to high. Bought a set of ISC coilovers and lowered it 3 inches. Wow looks good and handles. Next went on ISC adjustable lower control arms, a Perrin 25mm rear swaybar. Endlinks and adjustable lateral arms to alow more adjustment for the rear. Next was wider 18x9.5 wheels with sticky Falken Azenis RT615K+ tires a Nameless axleback exhaust and a Sparco seat. My Forester is slow as crap but my goodness does it handle. My workmate has a 2022 Civic Type R and cannot keep up with me in the corners. Next I am buying a wrecked GV STi. Swapping over brakes, axles, R180 and 6speed then selling everything else. Then a EZ30. Keeping it naturaly aspirated. Maybe one day I will finish the WRX.
Can only hope these gentlemen don't discover the third generation turbo Swift Sport. The prices of good cars is already high enough. Awesome sound track too may I add, you guys should do a colab with the artists that made those soul tickling tunes.

"Guaranteed to increase power"
Moog just loose the wind deflectors. They just don't go with the car. If they were tinted maybe, crystal clear no way.
Please import a Glanza V if you want the best nugget hatchback in the world!
Please bring this challenge and Peugeobro back!

That intake is horrendous. K&N should be more ashamed than usual.
Literally. 500 bucks for that is disgusting
But on the bright side they got confirmed dyno proof it kills power
Atrocious k&n. They literally paid 440$ for the flexible tube alone. Pod filters are less than 60 bucks..
@@Partnerthedog Err, no, you missed the bit that houses the MAF, but that doesn't excuse the totally ridiculous ripoff that intake represents.

Because of this video i bought a 2008 1.6 Liter Sport. Thank you MCM.
My dream car
Actually went out and bought a ZC31S shortly after seeing your face driving it, one of my slowest but most fun cars yet
Great video. I watched the original build videos for the Swift. Glad to see it getting more love.
Love Moogs heavier stuff! Love the normal stuff too but a change is good 👍
I bought the newer model of the 1.6 sport about 2 months ago. I've owned Impreza and fast Audi's. But this thing is so much fun I love my nifty swifty. Great content as always
Never thought I’d want a Swift and here I am wanting one 😂😂😂
Nice job on the music variety on this one guys! Love the variety!❤
Sigh. If only consumer reports didn't falsely review Suzuki here in the states.
So, while a properly specified and prepared Swift won't be setting any lap times you want to tell your friends, well... anywhere, it most certainly WILL provide you with a lot of smiles. And because we know there isn't a car in this world that Moog can set a decent lap time in, it makes absolute and total sense!
The filter segment could've been dropped. Better options on the market that aren't just hardware store bucket bin drops.
This Video convinced me to go upgrade my 1.5 Suzuki swift to a Suzuki swift sport in the near future, thanks alot fellas love the content.
Great choice! The swift sport is a fantastic track car.
surprised to see very few indians in the comments section
Because most of them can't afford this mod😂
@@majin7416 no it's just nkt legal in india to alter with car's
Reupload?
Re-edit
Thank you MightyCarMods for this video! Im from Singapore and i plan on getting a swift for my first car after my license! I really needed a Swift Build video but couldn’t find one, so thank you very much on this video of your nugget build!
And after 25k would still get smoked by a stock Peugeot 206 gti
Time to order Cheryls big box for Christmas!. I was rewatching some season 2/3, you guys have always been awesome..hope you never stop 🤙
Thanks For Always Being Honest And Testing The Air Intakes. I Appreciate It.
I loved driving the JDM swift!!!! it was so fun throwing it around~
I absolutely love this build now you guys just need the Jazz/Fit counterpart
Swift was my dream car growing up, Loved what you done to it. Love from Bharat.
When it comes to POD filters, I really think most people equate the increased induction noise with additional performance, when in reality it's just the ear hole being titillated.
rear torsion beam. economy suspension,
@christianbartell8649 What's your point? My statement is a fact. So I don't understand your pointing out the obvious?
@@estewar03 I mean mean the torsion beam is on a ton of cars. The Honda fit isn't unique in having that suspension design. I also agree the rear sway and brake upgrade would be better than louder intake sounds but ya know, whatever
@christianbartell8649 that's not the only reason I said it was similar.... for example, the front struts are the same design & share the same shitty tophat design. 👍
can we take a moment to appreciate how much the soundtrack slaps on this video ? so good
Love what you have done with her. I've got the 2010 Yellow Bumblebee and love her to bits.
Great recap on the swift boys, hope your Xmas is looking good, peace from Brissy
My brother had one several years (decades now) ago and I loved it. I thought it sounded so cool.
This really makes me miss my 07 Suzuki SX4 AWD Sportback. Unfortunately we in the states lost Suzuki a decade ago so stock parts are impossible to find let alone aftermarket stuff.
Why have I NEVER thought to use my blower on the water droplets. Omg. Thank you so much Moog!
Nice to see people having fun with regular cars!
i dig the recap, but that means you two are working on something big…..!!
i love your year end videos, and am looking forward to seeing what you have in store for us !!
@19:00 2015 vibes!! Love that song of yours's Moog (All in your mind), what a throwback! 🤩
I love the Suzuki Swift. They can be turned into a curve crusher. I just can't find one in the states any more. People keep them or trash the hell ouf it. Can't wait to see what you do to it. Put a turbo on it wider fenders, roll cage, back roads curve crusher.
In the bin!!! Please add that clip back to videos lol
Love how the car turned out! But how many horses did you manage to get out of it?
Good to hear you making the hardcore style music you like.
I just sold ny ZC32S. What a machine, best car in a budget no questions asked.
Your music is so damn good dude, it adds so much to the show.
Awesome episode as always guys!
Can only hope these gentlemen don't discover the third generation turbo Swift Sport.
The prices of good cars is already high enough.
Awesome sound track too may I add, you guys should do a colab with the artists that made those soul tickling tunes.
