Honestly I really love it, we need these to get imported in bulk. Inside and out looks nice and clean, doesnt have an ugly dash like a mini, doesnt have a fucked up rear like a cube. Loads of space inside and even the blue is a nice choice.
There's a really well-rounded understanding of car culture in Japan in this episode. It was good of you to note that you have to keep your car on private property, and how much of an obstacle this is for a typical Kanto resident who lives in an apartment. Even with my Super Cub (Postie Bike), I have to pay the landlord of a nearby block of townhouses $60 a month to park it on their property, and when I lived in the suburbs of Yokohama I paid $20 to an old couple to park my VFR400R on the edge of their driveway. While the 'hero car' might be displaced on the roads by modern Kei Cars and the shaken system, I feel like the bike scene in Japan is still kicking. You still see so much cool stuff going around, like dry clutch NSRs and old Katanas. Probably because the licence is hard to get, and you can't park bikes in the city, most people who own bikes in Japan are enthusiasts who ride them for recreation.
I love these little kei vans. I think cars like this is what makes people real car enthusiasts. They’re not fast, they don’t look particularly cool to non car people, they don’t fit the traditional definition of cool car, but damn they are so cool. And it’s how much you smile when you see how unique and weird they are. You know why you like it but you can’t really put your finger on it. The OG MCM music really sparked a memory and connection to the realisation of how far you have come as people and as a channel. It has been a privilege to see this growth and to have grown up with your videos and content.
So happy for your new Spacia, Marty! I’ve been watching MCM since 2014 and you guys influenced me so much when it comes to kei cars. Moved to Japan in 2016, now my wife and I owned 2 mad Suzuki kei sports cars as daily drivers. Hope you guys too import a new Suzuki Alto Works. It’s a blast to drive! ❤
If I didn't require a vehicle capable of comfortably sitting at 110kmh for hours on end every day of the week, I'd have bought one of these in a heartbeat. I love everything about them, but in the end, I opted for an E51 Elgrand 350X. Ultra luxury, plenty of power, and those charming JDM touches like electronic curtains, or the cute Japanese girl that tells you to insert your ETC card upon startup just add so much character. For the money, JDM imports are just fantastic value.
Oh dude I couldn’t agree more. Enough with all the people driving around towns and cities in SUVs which they think are the size of Humvees (yet they’ll stop and crawl over every speed bump). The UK needs a kei car awakening / SUV purge.
Agreed! I wish more countries could adopt them. I was thinking Barbados could adopt them as well. They seem so practical with the amount of open space and clever designs to store things.
Really great content guys. Kei Cars are 100% a growing interest in Australia. I recently just bought a 2022 Hijet manual 4x4 with all of the mod cons. Keen to start modifying it once all of the parts arrive from Japan lol.🙃
same in the us. i have an acty and for some reason it's such a fun driving experience. it's not fast, it's not comfortable and it's just built to work, but it's so fun to drive
This Spacia model is called Mini Vellfire back in Japan because of in their top trim have a lot of luxurious equipment and fierce looks. It’s really cool. It’s on my “must have” list as well. Good choice 👍 Love it.

Coming back to the channel has been so much fun for me. I remember watching MCM back in the day with the white turbo Miata. Watching that literally taught me how to turbo a car. My wife and I just had our newborn daughter and we have been binge watching every episode since then! 😂
I've always loved the Pajero Minis as far as non-sport Kei cars. The S660 and the 90s classics are awesome too, but the regular Pajeros are so cool and the Paj Mini is just the tiny lightweight adorable version lol. Congrats on the new addition!
I have a JDM Mitsubishi i kei car. It's rear engine, rear wheel drive and turbo. It's ridiculous fun to drive and gets heaps of attention at meets. Love the show guys. Kei cars are the future of fun cars.
Kei cars are great, I love what they manage to package within the constraints of the Kei class rules, Practical little family cars like the Suzuki to sports cars, mini trucks, vans, even tiny off roaders.
@@rokko_fableIt is. And all it really does is reduce our choice of cars, as it's pretty much impossible to buy a practical small hatchback new, as almost no one makes them anymore. People only drive trucks and SUVs

I've had a Kei-Van for nearly a year and it's the only car I use now even though I have several others. I understand why they're so popular now, but mine is all electric (Mitsubishi Minicab Miev). Thanks for bringing them into the spotlight and making them cool.
That little car is so hilarious I would totally use one for daily commutes and such. It's a mad little car. So much room it would fit my tall ass comfortably. I think it's a great buy. I never thought I'd say that about a kei car.

I understand the appeal of these little cars. I went to Chile and bought the cheapest car i could find that i could sleep in. Turned out to be a kei 2 cylinder 550cc Mitsubishi L100 (minicab) van that used 5 liters of fuel for 100kms (at about 60-70kms\hr). Dual sliding doors. Big rear door. I turned it into a camper that could sleep 4 on occasions (the entire space could lay flat). I drove more that 20,000 kms between Chile, Argentina, Bolvia, Brazil... all before the whole Vanlife thing on youtube. Up and over the Los Andes 3 times, down the Bolivian road of death, it did it all. Still have it today. Its a beast.

Hopefully you will actually mod this for power. Still mad the Mira hasn’t had an update. Love to see it get some “big” power mods. I know it’s just your fun little cruiser. But cool to see it with a bigger turbo.
Why not? It’s a channel about modifying cars. They went crazy with the floor pan to make an Aussie Mira awd. Other than that it’s very stock. So much time money and effort but it’s basically a stock car. With the new one it’s as boring as it gets. A ugly tiny van. I like the idea of it. But it has to be fast. They have this now as the cruiser. People in Japan ran high 12’s 10+ years ago in Mira’s. With modern tech it would be a lot easier.
Looks super hard to modify. Good thing you are mighty and have super garage. Can't wait to see what you guys make with it. You know it has to be fast and furious camera car style.
Marty, you are a man after my own heart. I live in big ol wide open USA and everyone here drives BIG cars and mostly Trucks. I drive the smallest one I can find a Honda Fit but would love, love to have the little nugget you picked up. Great job on the video an it makes me want to move to Japan just to be able to drive the micro cars. Keep up the good wok.
GUYS I have one of these in Adelaide!! It's a 2022 Spacia Gear Hybrid XZ Turbo 4WD. We love it so so much! Ours is fully optioned with radar cruise, surround cameras and car play. It's the fkn BEST!
You say that Marty but I do remember rocking up right at your start point (Prince Sakura @ Shinagawa) and out the front of the hotel was an Isuzu Piazza in black with gold pinstripes. Lovely stuff!
Thanks for showing us around all the processes, great to see how it all works! Such a well-executed and high-tech system compared to car auctions in the UK.
That switch of quality from the phone footage to shop footage at the end caught me off guard. Looks really good guys. I know some serious money goes into production quality.
Over the last few months I have been importing a Honda N One into Western Australia. It is now in Perth getting the compliance and registration done. It is the 2013 top tier model with turbo. Cant wait to get it.
One of the coolest modern kei cars I've seen, I love the sliding doors and spacious interior! Can't wait to se what mods you have planned for this! Now I want a Spacia as well :')
Yup. I just flipped my WRX for a Honda N-Van which I can fold the seats flat and go camping with or put my motorbikes in the back. Simply can’t beat the utility and efficiency.
I fell in love with those little box cars in 2016 when I hired a few on holidays, and I bought a Nissan Cube fromJapan a couple years ago. And I LOVE it!
That red graphic, it says U RI KI RI Urikuri, which means 'clearance'. Not entirely sure what it means in the context of that place/auction. I have to admit, I'm pretty jealous of the frequency of your visits to Japan. Love the place.
I saw a Honda N Wgn Custom during the auction scene of this video and I jumped my seat imagining that you might get the same car, unfortunately it wasn't. Though this car is quite similar to the one I own, I'm soooo excited to see what comes of this while being in MCM garage and would love to see what I might be able to get out of my car as well. Thanks for these videos guys, you are LEGENDS!!!
I used to drive one for work sometimes when over there. Fun cars and, despite being 197cm tall, I fitted just fine. (My first time at a petrol station, it was a hot day, and the guy gave me a wet towel. I was very grateful as I wiped my face with it. He then explained it was to clean the car's interior. He explained it every sodding time I went there afterwards!)
Congrats man!! Super cool process I would LOVE to sit in that auction house allllll day! Have to agree with Moog tho, his fairlady z is probably the best looking car EVER made imo.
Just came back from Japan and they're great little cars. Saw a few daihatsu convertibles can't believe their Aussie prices. Plenty of mods to be done on them.
Great choice, Marty. As you've noticed and mentioned, for daily drivers this is what many people in Japan choose these days. They just tick every box, (pardon the pun). I've had 4 or 5 similar cars over the last couple of decades.
I was there last summer and saw the sickest modded van out front of the dome after seeing the Giants. Took a photo of it! Yah I did see hero cars within a few hours of landing but vans are definitely a thing.
The highest posted speed limit in the US is 85 mph (137 km/h) and can be found only on Texas State Highway 130, a toll road that bypasses the Austin metropolitan area for long-distance traffic. In Texas, 75mph/121kmh is quite common for major interstate highway travel outside of urban areas. 63mph/100kmh just doesn't cut it in much of the country where cities are often separated by over 100 miles.
I love the Kei-car as a concept. I wish they were the thing everyone wanted to get, instead of those obnoxious SUVs. Especially here in Europe, a Kei-car would make so much more sense in our cities than a 2-and-half-ton behemouth of a car. Thank you for promoting a more sensible alternative.
I absolutely love the whacky design and look of these. The colour is stunning a d there's so many parts in there shared with our 2019 Ignis which is a super funky car to own as our family daily. What a great addition to the fleet

What a practical little nugget! That's a great addition to the fleet, I reckon.
You say that Marty but I do remember rocking up right at your start point (Prince Sakura @ Shinagawa) and out the front of the hotel was an Isuzu Piazza in black with gold pinstripes. Lovely stuff!
Jaw dropped when I saw the Datsun! can’t wait to see it rolling!!
Thanks for showing us around all the processes, great to see how it all works! Such a well-executed and high-tech system compared to car auctions in the UK.
8:30 That's the thing that Mighty Car Mods teaches you! Any car can be your hero car. It's all about having fun and making the best of what you have!
Never thought I'd hear Marty say he has enough Daihatsu in your life. Thanks for all the videos gents, loving them.
Cool little Suzuki kei van. Like the vent shades on the windows. Needs some wide body overfenders, a wider stance, cooler wheels and maybe exhaust.
What a fun little nugget. I sincerely hope you mod the Mod Box one day and give it a mighty bit of love.
Been watching since 09 or so. I liked the throwback to that original Japan auction video. Oldschool music etc. love the Japan content
That switch of quality from the phone footage to shop footage at the end caught me off guard. Looks really good guys. I know some serious money goes into production quality.
When I was in Japan, a few people had highly modified Chrysler 300Cs with hemis and AWD
I am a third generation car dealer in the states. I have been auctions my entire life. That button system is awesome!
I was really hoping for a Mira walkthrough van and I will never give up hope.
Martin you legend, I have a Toyota Sparky In the UK a 7 seat JDM Kei car nugget. Loving your new Suzuki, way more modern then mine 😛
Stationed in Okinawa 20 yrs ago our unit had a van like that to go between bases. The head room was crazy. Largest tiny car ever.
Over the last few months I have been importing a Honda N One into Western Australia. It is now in Perth getting the compliance and registration done. It is the 2013 top tier model with turbo. Cant wait to get it.
Please do more 4x4 videos, I love the camping vids!
Music on point with the visuals as always 🤌
I have been loving these for so long. So cool that the blokes now have one!
One of the coolest modern kei cars I've seen, I love the sliding doors and spacious interior! Can't wait to se what mods you have planned for this! Now I want a Spacia as well :')
What a mad little k box! Nice win Martin!
Also looking forward to the Datto V Supra...
I like the way the hints are getting less subtle, 4 years since turbos and temples 2 but hey, terrific its happening
Yup. I just flipped my WRX for a Honda N-Van which I can fold the seats flat and go camping with or put my motorbikes in the back. Simply can’t beat the utility and efficiency.
Astonishing car is this. Huge space, maximum useful.
I fell in love with those little box cars in 2016 when I hired a few on holidays, and I bought a Nissan Cube fromJapan a couple years ago. And I LOVE it!
that thing is gorgeous, reminds me of the toyota alphard (a dream to me)
Please keep the JDM vibe live, I don't know any other country that produces such diverse and awesome cars. Japan rules.
That red graphic, it says U RI KI RI Urikuri, which means 'clearance'. Not entirely sure what it means in the context of that place/auction. I have to admit, I'm pretty jealous of the frequency of your visits to Japan. Love the place.
Just brought a Suzuki Hustler in, 660cv turbo. Has all the tech and apple car play. Goes really well hybrid also. Good fun
My suzuki sx4 is very similar i feel it was very cool to see suzuki get some more love these days they were truly great cars.
I love little cars for running around doing the daily commute
Marty + JDM = A very good series of MCM episodes! 🤩
Kei cars and vans have gone up loads in the U.K. …. Looking at you Marty 👀 😂 love that MCM stays the same after all these years 👏
I think it’s more to do with the overall supply here and the crappy performance of our currency, but more little nuggs is good news!
WOW am following you guys already more than 15 years!
Mod box is sick, keen for more 240z content but, as a coincidence I rewatched them all again last week lol
As someone who loves the sti's,that blobeye in obdisian black pearl would be a dream car for several people I know
Cool car! Nice buy! Can't wait to see what you'll do with it.
This is ridiculously up my street, such a cool car. I've had a few hero cars but these are so much fun!!
I absolutely love the whacky design and look of these. The colour is stunning a d there's so many parts in there shared with our 2019 Ignis which is a super funky car to own as our family daily. What a great addition to the fleet
Yes boys! Sick combo, roll on the next ep! 😁
