We like to make interesting car mods and show you how we've gone about it, but we can't promise that anything we show you will work for your particular car, or that you won't harm yourself, someone else, your car or your warranty doing it. Please be safe, be responsible and unless you know what you're doing, do not fool around with very serious machinery just because you've seen us make it look so easy. @Wrulol RS Libertys originally were spec'd with Iridium/Platinum spark plugs. The stock ignition system isn't powerful enough to run regular copper plugs, however the coil packs were upgraded to my00 WRX items which work much better so standard plugs work fine in this setup. The standard plugs come gapped at 1.1mm, they need to be gapped down to 0.8 for the turbo engine.

@hflee3 The shell probably could have been saved with enough effort and time, but seeing as it's not a classic car, not particularly rare (shell exactly the same as a base model) it's much easier to replace the shell around the good driveline, interior and suspension.

JRobCards Keep telling yourself that when a stock STI busts your ass at a stoplight. My Bora is faster than your car. A twin-charged (you probably don't know what that means; it has a turbo from the 1.8T and an aftermarket belt-driven supercharger both on the same engine) VR6 making over 500-ish bhp through all four, yes, four wheels. So you could say my car is a 2001 VW Bora VR6TC 4Motion. Oh, it also has every option from the factory, except for the auto gearbox of course. Because autos are for losers.

I'm sure most people won't care about this comment, but I personally own a '97 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport with about 291 thousand miles on the engine. Only problem I've had is a recent crack in the radiator, which was fixed with a bit of JB Weld.
The only thing I don't like about my car is 1. how low the ride is, and 2. how cramped it is on the inside. I complain about these things NOT because I like big cars, but because I am a 6' 4" guy, so its a little hard to get in and out of the car.

I basically did this a few years back after I totaled my first 94 Accord I went out and got another one and over time swapped everything but the motor and trans (I sold them off) and scrapped the old body, a good day is all you need to do the interior swap, suspension and wheels another, I didn't waste time labeling nuts and bolts just put the 2 cars face 2 face and swapped one panel at a time, the only "hard" part is the motor swap.

Another thing to mention is there are thousands of forums (especially on facebook) that are model specific to a certain car or group of cars. AKA wagon mafia, subaru life, rally car clubs, (For me it's caprice / roadmaster / B body) and such so whatever bits you don't use that are good can be sold and put cash in your pocket! I have parted a few cars that more than paid for themselves just selling one or two parts and the rest is then free parts and profit that can be used to make your car maaad or pay for gas.

I got an Exedy clutch kit for my Lancer GSR, and after replacing the OEM spec one, the pedal wouldnt disengage the clutch at full depression, so the gearbox came out and I shimmed the pivot ball with a 2mm washer. Now the pedal disengages basically on the floor and has 2 or 3 inches of flop in the pedal (you can push it down and it will just sit there, and pop back out when you nudge it)
    Ideas?

    • @SteveZerker
      @SteveZerker 7 лет назад +3

I'd love to see them mess with a 4x4 or pickup truck too. Nissan Frontier isn't really a "truck" in the way of using greatly different, heavy components, so you can modify and increase power the same way as a regular car. Simple things like increased flow exhaust and intakes, a cold-air intake, injectors, or tuning it will increase power. More drastic mods like a turbo (or a larger one if it's turbo already) and supporting mods can be done the same way as any car, though probably far simpler due to the extra engine bay room provided by the truck body. Diesel's a similar story, higher flow exhaust and intakes, bigger turbo, tuning, etc, all will boost your power.
Do your own research though, I drive a Skoda so I'm far from an expert on the Nissan Frontier.

lol I agree, I love supras, but some dude said something about character you can't get with a new car, personally I think you can just as easily say every car is different as every car is the same, ie they all look/perform differently, but in the end are all wheels, metal, etc. moved by an IC engine ;P
Personally I don't like to generalize things like that, every car was created by someone or a group, made very differently with different target goals and ideals, I like both my cars (:

Actually saw this episode 10 years ago when it came out. I'm in the same situation with my own car now. Sad but has to be done.

Not to be a negative ninny or state the (what I think is) obvious. Why wouldn't you just do an engine swap instead of stripping and swapping an entire car? This to me seems like a lot of unnecessary work when the other vehicle is fine aside from the engine.

Dennis Kwasnycia Pretty sure they said that the community had requested a video showing how it's done, so yah.

He lost a bet so he had to sell his own car, but there were no rules about what parts he had to sell so he only sold the shell of his old car and put the good bits in a new one.

Would it be impossible/damn hard to drop a 7mge (6 cyl toyota 3L twin cam out of a cressida/old supra) into a dato ute? Like, what are the chances of the engine mounts and everything lining up? I have a tranny to fit the engine too.
The ute is basically a shell, but thought it would be a unique project.

Not sure if Marty does, but Moog makes all the music for the videos and I think he has a few record deals.

I did something like this once before, after I wrecked my old honda, I bought an Identical (all stock) one and moved every aftermarket part over, and swapped the grey leather interior from the old one in place of the tan cloth interior that was in the new one, and I pulled and sold the motor and trans that was in the first one and then took the old body and useless parts to the scrap yard because the landlord wanted the old body gone.

I know how long ago this was posted but still he should have saved the windshield .I have no idea what they cost in Australia but in the US they can start around 500 bucks it is always a good idea to save the windshield out of a car your going to scrap even more so when he and his mom have the same make of car .
