Yeah I am going back and watching older videos cause Iv watched all the "newer" stuff. Look at how much FARTHER they have gone! Edit: The only thing that has gotten worse. Is the lack of afro!
If I was given a choice, to get the Meteor or the Audi for free.. I'd get the Audi, sell it, buy the Meteor and then have enough money for 5 years worth of gas and repairs.
+FP5Reviews why the fuck would that factor into a regular person buying petrol? guess you have never paid for a rocket to space to be fueled? like wtf ur logic?
***** My daily driver is a Volvo actually, a 1987 Volvo 740, light blue, with all the crome you can ever desire lol. I've driven it for 35.000 miles since I got it, not once did anything break.
You guys just have an amazing sense of humor. Thank you for sticking around for us to enjoy your work guys, I love watching how you can joke with each other and yet still convey such detailed concepts.
The original ford only came with 800 kilowatts, they tuned it to have 976 with a new turbo. It does 0-60 in 1.2 seconds and quarter mile at 5 seconds. You're thinking of the original ford meteor. This is the GTI version
This video was a Nostalgia trip. It’s one of the first videos I saw when I went down the RUclips hole after buying my first car. You guys have come a long way, been subscribed 7years now, I love this channel.
That Meteor probably cost less than the price of a yearly service on the Audi. IMO, a younger person driving around in an S3 comes off as a pretentious trust-fund hipster who has no concept of how vehicles actually work. Someone driving around in that Meteor probably is down-to-earth and isn't afraid of getting dirty and repairing the car on his or her own.
really expensive. here a quite big filter is around 12 euros. i have a volvo 240 diesel with a 6 liters oil pan. a filter and 6 liters of semi-synthetic oil from esso mobil or shell is about 40 euros. why non synthetic is more expensive than synthetic in your country ?
See when that Audi breaks down and you have to spend 5 grand to fix just some stupid electric accessory you'll be looking for that meteor that's been around for DECADES.
@@whorutothink I don't know about you but the world was already at 1080p at the time because blu-ray happened and got really populair with the Playstation 3 in 2006, which at the time was the best quality blu-ray player you could get for your money. RUclips started support of 1080p videos at the end of November 2009. December 2008 they introduced 720p support.
He's kind of right, in a way. It does take the thick sludge in the engine and move it around and then when it moves around in oil cycle when it comes to oil filter, it'll block it up.
I'm not trying to be an ass, because I love mcm, but I'm taking automotive classes in school and I was taught to never use oil flush. Sure there might be sludge in an engine, but when you use the oil flush, all that sludge that was just sitting there doing nothing goes for a trip around the whole engine, where it has a chance to clog up small oil passageways etc before it gets drained.
I would never recommend oil flush. Use mineral oil for a diesel engine. It is high in detergent and will pickup a lot of crap which you can then collect when you drop your sump plug.
It's advisable push in the clutch when starting a manual car (for safety reasons, in case the car is still in gear or the clutch stuck to the flywheel).
Yeah, all of that can be done on the cheap. I bought these things recently for less than $100 total. For example, I paid: 8 spark plugs (for my V8): $21 total Oil flush: $4.99 (Gunk Engine Flush) Air filter: $6 (14" round filter - good for 12k miles) Wiper blades: $6.99/ea ($14 total - rubber replacement) Oil filter: $4 Black gloss paint: $4.99/can, sand paper $2.79 Metal Polish: $7.99 (16 oz.) Engine Oil: $18 for good 4k mile oil with detergents (6qt for my V8) Total of $84
Just one point to note. When polishing up your chromework, check it really is chrome!!! Many cars, especially from the 80s onwards, use chrome effect plastic for many parts to save cost and weight, or because it's simply impractical to have metal in some areas, such as window seal trim. If you polish this plastic-chrome, you'll just end up with some mouldy looking plastic.
the synthetic oil is bought from our kind of wall mart, they sell semi synthetic oil too but that's like 2$ cheaper. non synthetic is sold usually on Esso, Statoil or shell.
Bought a 00 Ford Mustang V6 5spd with 192,000 miles on it for 600 USD. Clutch went out quick, needed new tie rods. Put less than 1500 into it after the fact and its wonderful.
About 17-20$ for 1L Synthetic 5W40. And that's cheap in Norway. regular price is about 25$ for semi synthetic or non synthetic Oil Filter comes on 28$ for my car.
That meteor seems like a nice car, I would totally buy it for that price. It doesn't look bad at all and definitly has character, and it has a Mazda 323 engine inside so it should be reliable enough.
He's kind of right. Avoid oil flush. If you knew how the oiling system worked you'd know there's a chance the loose debris can end up in the rod bearings and eventually cause a pressure drop to one or more bearings. Yet your oil pressure gauge won't indicate a problem and possibly show higher pressure.
its good to see you guys using good brands of oil and filters. repco oil filter is a good way to go if you guys are ever in adelaide come see me at the modbury one
The Ford Meteor is the same car as the Mazda 3 of the same period. I had a Mazda 3, as hatchback tho. Was a fine car and gave me great service, just the roadholding was crap.
What if the sludge is already in all those places and you dont know it? If you think about it carefully you will realize that on the oil flush instructions it says run the car for 5mins, reason is for it to circulate as well as warm up the motor, thus thinning out the oil as well as breaking down deposits, so chances of sludge becoming worse are minimal, if the oil has been sitting in the motor for a longer period of time, run the car for a few extra minutes to break down all sludge =p
Hand-tight is not always enough for oil filters. I thought it was after the first time I changed the one on my van, but it had a small leak when running. I had to tighten it another 1/4 turn with my oil filter wrench.
That Meteor engine came from a Mazda... Easy to upgrade to the twin carb Gt version. Will outrun the heavy Audi easily than ... Also avoid using wrong parts. Champion spark plugs belong into a french unreliable car, use NGK. Maybe a good Idea to change the ignition wires every 20 years also...
Genuinely, I would rather have the Meteor. Lower cost of ownership, lower initial investment, more super-custom crazy modification, and MAN that thing was clean! The best feeling in any car is driving it right at the limit. I bet that Meteor is at the limit ALL THE TIME.
I thought that commercial was legit until they said mcm no lie

5 years... Your math is so wrong...
LUKAZ G I use about 2500 dollars worth of gas per year, that's only 15.000 for 5 years, so I guess it could last even longer

lol absolute best commercial i actually thought it was real at first. great production value guys
probably one of the few channels that's kept their special flare despite all the years, channel growth, and changes
You ment to say 97.6 kilowatts instead of 976 kilowatts. 976 kilowatts is 1308 hp.
No, his has 1308 hp, look how fast he launches
Lier, that mazda 323 engine has 130 only
Nah, i work for ford, the meteor did in fact come out with 976 kilowatts from factory.
You are a lier coppoman1. Ill take the lier back if You give me proof with a video or a weblink

That is the most judgemental thing ive ever read
you don't want to be crushed by a meteor.
the music on these videos are amazing
why they still put sonic thrusters in a car that has wormhole generator
For short distance travel of course. You're not going to be making wormholes for anything except long range
Brought a Meteor the other day for 200, it's a smooth runner and only has 140,000 on Its clock.... Best purchase I've ever made
why do they try to steal all of your cars?
Don't no
Who else is here on a blast to the past? Hard to believe McM has stayed a quality car channel for so long. Long live mighty car mods lol

How do you convert womprats over to unicorn power?
Always love your channel and that commercial was AMAZING! Much love from a fan in Los Angeles!
The "Ford" was known as the Mazda GLC here in the US. It's actually a Mazda and made by Mazda.
Mazda and Ford work together a lot.
Example: Ford Ranger and Mazda B2300
Onyx Leigion They actually stopped working together in 2009 I believe. good for mazda.
I wonder if Ford ever sold the Escort in Oz? Talk about a butt ugly car.
Taylor Langston Well hey, they did make some good cars too, like the Ford Probe GT.

$8 for an oil filter?
my filter was literally 7.99 so yes 8 dollars
Sup with that?
Look on ebay they're £3 here

In 1989, my mum and me flew to Australia to visit my aunt. IIRC she drove one of these in white.
