Pull the choke out and crank it until it starts. That's what the choke is for. If close off the air entering the carburetor the resulting high manifold vacuum will suck a ton of gas through the venturies into the engine and cold start then open choke partially until warm. If you pull the choke and pump the gas the accelerator pump is putting in more gas and your flooding it. Pull the the choke and keep your foot OFF THE Gas until it starts.
Typical of the youngsters today. Most don’t know how to start a carb engine. They also don’t understand that you have to let a cold carb engine warm up somewhat before driving off. What’s funny is when one of these youngsters is sitting right up on your ass on a grade at a stop sign or a light and you’re driving a standard transmission that when you take off you tend to roll back a bit. Most drivers today don’t leave enough room between your vehicle and theirs to avoid rolling back and tapping their car with your vehicle.

You had the choke on how long had it set for you sitting there pumping the bejesus out of it flooding the thing

Thanks for the tip. I will give it a try. Winter starting has been allot different. Still working on the right receipe.
How to flood a motor, absolutely no idea,
Must’ve been written into the script that a Gen-Z’er had to start the old Ford
it depends how it’s adjusted, i had to pump the shit out of my grandpas truck to get it running

Tach is working well…🙄
Good Ford though. Looks like a 331 V8?
There is no tach and Ford didn't have a 331 cid engine in 1966.
