I really hope you all enjoy the Power Wagon Rescue!! 😃 I wanted to give a bit more background. I was told the truck was purchased from a neighbor. He was asked to drive it over and park it in, what was then, the front yard. We found some pieces of an old For Sale sign that coincide with this. With nearly 100 other vehicles on this property (including the Galaxie XL), I suppose one could justify not driving it again. Many of the dents, not from current tree growth, appear to be from being hit while logging the land in the past. Sadly easy to get to items (bumper, radiator, tailgate) have been picked off by passerby’s. We’re really excited for this one and to take it to the next step! Definitely need to do some trailing!
Runs great for just new plugs, fuel pump and starter! Make a good woods truck or winter beater! Glad you all pulled from woods after 41 years and revived it!😊
I'm a Ford guy but I've always loved the old Dodge trucks of this gen. My dad had one that was orange with a white camper shell, and I remember it even when I was only a toddler. Thanks for the memory refresher!
Just about the time that I think you guys have met your match, you go and blow me out of the water!!!! 41 years sitting in the woods, and you get that truck to start, run and drive down the road!!!! AMAZING!!!
41 yrs that truck was just waisting away in the woods and now u brought that beast back to life again! Can't wait to see the next video and the process you use to pull those big dents out. New paint or just a clear coat over the old stuff.
Man that’s one sweet old Dodge pickup truck! And it sounds good too! Great job guy’s! Looking forward to seeing the next follow up video! It definitely needs a 4 speed manual!👌😂👍
I'm a new subscriber from southern NJ and really enjoy your videos. I never thought I would find myself watching both of you for 47 minutes bringing an old Dodge back from death and finding it so relaxing and rewarding to see the results. Enjoy the time together as father and son. My father passed almost 10 years ago and miss him terribly.
You should DEFINITELY check out his Porsche build that he got from one of our local junkyards if you haven't already! I know I saw that thing there for 10-15 years before Michael got it!
Just great trucks.my first pick up here in England was a dodge 1977 D200, 318 was toast ,727 was fubar,40 years on she runs a 360 fresh trans I rebuilt and I still got her, as I worked on it friends came by and told me of an ex military 1978 4x4,I dropped the rusted out cab and shortened bed on to a unimog chassis and used CUMMINS power, be great to see yours come together, I love these trucks.
As always great content! I like the fact you show where its grave was and the process of bringing it to the shop, would love to see more of this in future videos. Btw I pulled a 1981 d150 in a barn 4 years ago, fixed it up and has been my daily driver since! Great truck!
@@brucedk2181 Can’t imagine parking a 9 year old truck like this! The crisp gauges and nearly perfect pedal pads, look the part. The rest of the truck has seen some things thru the years though 😅 Can’t wait to share more!
One thing Ì have learned over the course of time here(21/2 years)is țo never bet against you and your dad. Y'all hàve proven me wrong time after time. You guys, i have no doubt, will not only get the truck running and driving but into something nice and reliable. Y'all àre amazing!
Those old 318's are gutless at 175-190 HP. I would throw a cheap 4 barrell intake and carb to spice it up. Cool truck in great original condition for it's age!
Nice looking dodge truck it's one of my favorite colors it runs great and looks like a strong machine thanks again for bringing it back to life I love this older square body style
Great job getting it running. My first vehicle was a '77 318 2 Barrell van and that motor looked very familiar as I replaced the alternator, water pump, timing chain, lifters, starter while I had it but so hard to believe I was only 19 -20 yrs old when I done all that. I had a glass pack on mine sounded sooo good. I wouldn't have the patience to do all that nowa days. I also had put Direct connection chrome valve covers on mine to fancy it up a bit.
Hello From Kentucky. Back when I started at the equipment repair facility with the highway department in 1991, The crew that sprayed the highway right of way had two of the 3/4 ton Dodge Power Wagons that would go anywhere I believe. I know those trucks had V8 engines and I believe the 4 speed manual transmissions as well as the 4wd shifter next to the gearshift. Those were the days before the 4wd trucks were so plentiful in which the vast majority of the pickup trucks were the 1/2 ton 2wd Dodge trucks with the Slant 6 inline engines and mostly automatic transmissions although we did have a few with the 4 speed transmissions. The government fleet vehicles as a rule were extremely “Plain Jane” with pretty much just the heater and that was pretty much it.
Drove a 68 or 69 Power Wagon 1 ton tow truck with Holmes 440 and a 383ci quad under the hood for extra university cash in the late 70's. Loved that truck, power and torque was unbelievable.
Good tip for stubborn spark plugs in an iron head: Don't be afraid to use a torch on them and get them warm, as long as you concentrate the heat on the plug, you'll break them free every time.
Watched many videos like this but never thought about an important item needed until it was mentioned: 🔑 There’s something like a ‘66 Dodge Dart parked behind the large shed in the backyard of the house I’ve been renting since July. No glass (all broken) more rust than paint and can’t get to the front for all the brambles. Never thought about looking for a key, pretty sure the owners tossed it or have it in a dusty jar somewhere. Sure you can jump these heaps, but having an ignition key saves a lot of extra work.
Soot, that could be a daily driver right there. Got Dads old 53 in the front yard. Love those old Power Wagons. Great save and hope she gets some love.
We all drove Dodge Power Wagon six packs when I was stationed on Shemya in the Aleutian Islands 1976 - 77. We beat the daylights out of them, and they kept on running. The wind would blow the snow past the door weather stripping, so you had to brush snow off the seats every morning. Looking forward to more restoration on this.
A tip on dodges like this is the transmission pumps don't pump in park, that's why it didn't blow fluid everywhere running without the cooler hooked up. Id recommend idling in neutral for a few minutes. That's why it wouldn't move when you first went from park to gear.
Glad you guys saved that dodge, it needs some help but it’s definitely worth fixing back up as solid as it is. They’re great old trucks I’ve had multiple old dodge trucks, and one was a 76 power wagon with a 360/granny gear 3 speed and 4.10’s. That thing would pull anything and go anywhere to boot, but rust wasn’t its friend. That short bed looks pretty solid honestly,I’d pull out some dents and fix the brakes and usual issues from sitting a long time and fix it up a lil at a time. Keep up the great work guys.
Great video, nice work,as always, congrat! so nice to see son and dad working, enjoying and laughing together.Still can't believe you are tasting the old oil!

It's as old as I am
Do it! Do it!!!
Use a leaf blower to strip. The junk from. Cab
If it has a title please fix this one they are hard to come by short bed 4x4 dodge
It's not just about getting it running, it's about bringing it to life again. You two are very good at doing that. 😊
Very true! We love the rescue!!! Thanks!! 😊
@@BudgetBuildz you should rescue a helicopter...!!!! paint it tractor supply red ...put a spotlight on the nose and play Sanny Clawz for the kids!!!
As a bodyman, I just want to see the dents get pulled out.
Cool old truck with some dent removal she'd really be neat!

Dad and son reviving vehicles together. What a great channel.
I really like that you clean these things up before working on them. It just bugs when other guys don't. I guess to each his own but thanks
Awesome job, getting it out of the woods and back running again…love to see more of it….
Not even a Dodge fan, but for some reason I love that truck! So glad y'all found and saved that ole thing!❤

Mr Chad really gets stuff going you would never expect anyone could! Especially mom's Fairmont wagon!

That 318 is a strong engine used since early 1960's. Got one in my 1983 Cordoba and it's a great engine.
