Ryan, I see this video is over 4 months old, so not sure if you’ll see this comment, but just in case you do, I have a comment about something you mention in this video. You spoke about how hard adjusting the climate controls is. Well, I just finished watching another channel where the guy gave 18 voice commands to control your Tesla. One of them was using voice control to not only open the climate control screen, but also to control turning on the AC/Heat, aiming the vents, fan speed, turning on/off AC for the passenger… that channel showed how so much that owners do by going to the screen can actually be accomplished through voice control.
I second this. I always use voice command for climate control and it works really well.
What channel?
@@keithsingleton9974 , Just frugal me. Just type in 18 voice commands to control your Tesla and look for the video by Just frugal Me.
lol I just watched that eairler
Voice commands were the SECRET to getting my Wife comfortable with Model Y controls.....she really loves just pressing a single button and saying a command. I have now started to use it much more in my Model S.
After 9 months I found I could turn on side cameras in reverse by putting the Tesla in reverse and sliding up in the dark area below the reverse camera. It is saved in the profiles.
No need to hit SAVE multiple times when setting up your profile. Just set your seat, other preferences, and then mirrors and steering wheel. Then hit SAVE just once after all of it is set up. It'll save all the settings at once.
Getting mine hopefully next week! Awesome video! Will have to watch this as I am setting up my car! Thanks Ryan!
Another great feature of the power lift gate is you can manually push the hatch fully so you don't hit your head in instances when clearance permits. The next time you open the hatch, it will remember your pre-set height so it doesn't hit anything when you're back home.
Wow I’ve been hitting my head for a whole month outside my garage.
As I get closer to my delivery date, this video was helpful for preparing me for my new Tesla, thank you Ryan.
Thanks Ryan, I’m going to save this one. When I get my model y, it will save me some time in setup!
I just got my model Y today, I’ll be using your video as guidance for my settings. I’ve been watching all your most recent videos for a month now. Thank you for all your content !!!! 🙏🤗
I think a lot of people don’t know about the customizable control of long pressing the left scroll wheel on the steering wheel. There are many things people are like “ugh I wish there was a button for…” but there is, you just have to pick what that button controls (cameras, wipers, climate, fan speed, driver mode settings, etc.) it’s really well thought out. I only like teslas more after diving into all its details.
The reason you also have to add the phone in the bluetooth settings, is the phone that's connected is the Tesla app. Bluetooth is for connecting to the phone itself for bluetooth audio and other features. They are separate things.
I don't even have a Tesla and its not sold in my country. It's a dream that might always be a wish due to VISAS. You Americans are so lucky to get the best of everything first than any other part of the world. Love your videos.
Ryan, thank you. As new Model Y owners, my wife and I found many of your tips very helpful.
Sat at a super charger today one week into ownership of a 2024 M3. Had you playing and learnt something new which I setup as I waited. =D
Very helpful. Thank you. Got this favorited, as my Model Y is (currently) due for delivery in September. When it arrives, I'll probably step through this whilst sitting in the car!
Dang, that's going to be so exciting. Congratulations. Ordered one a couple months back, but canceled next day.
@@misterb1132 Yeah, can't wait. Very excited. Here in the UK, the delivery lead time is *only* (haha) about 6 months - depending on your spec. I ordered a LR in white, with white upholstery and 19" Gemini wheels in late May.
Thank you Ryan You are my best teacher. I get my first Model Y in November from Germany. And for the last two years I'm been waiting for every video you upload. And trying to learn and remember everything. (As much as I can). And again thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Fantastic!! I've watched a couple hundred hours of Tesla videos, and this was the best and most relevant to a Tesla owner (on order). Thanks VERY much!!
Thanks again! We've had our M3LR since February and I had most controls understood except for the rear lift gate - you reminded me you have to hold the button until you get the sound before it remembers where you want the raised height to be - whew!
Ryan, you made an interesting comment about Tidal software. Could you do a video on some of the major advantages of Tidal over Spotify on Teslas? Thank you. Love your channel.
Got the text today that my MYP is on it’s way to my delivery destination...... hope everything goes well... been seeing people having problems... hopefully there’s much more people who are perfectly happy with their Tesla’s
For things like safety (for example, forward collision), I would recommend your viewers to start off with the more aggressive option first and then adjust it later on. Since the more aggressive options are arguably the safer options, it’s better they remain on them if they do not impede on their normal driving habits.
Or… what if everyone kept their settings on whatever they want to keep them on. 🤯
@@HiThere619 Did the concept of recommending fly over your head? Are you actually conflating that with being forced?
@@Armoterra bro what's ur problem
@@beastonea To be honest, I don’t even know. I didn’t write an argumentative comment. I’m confused. I think you guys are being too sensitive. Re-read my comment. I just made a recommendation.
@@Armoterra you were being aggressive m8
You’re so in depth which is good bc I feel like buying one can be overwhelming when it comes to the setup time. My friend got his MY Performance about a year ago from a dealership in NC and they didn’t help setup the car at all and he felt overwhelmed trying to figure it all out.
Just bought a model Y performance , really helpful to watch your guide.
You don't need a guest profile. If a gas gets into your car and adjusts your seat from your setting/ profile. It doesn't change it. They can mess with the seats steering wheel mirrors as long as they don't hit save on your profile buddy.
No sentry mode at work. You have more trust in your coworkers than I do :D
Very well done, thanks!!
Good video bud. Love the hands on stuff.
Thank you for the tips. I took delivery of my Model 3 LR last Sunday. Loving the car very much!
I didn't know that you could change the boot height. That's awesome!
I have a serious problem with my tesla. Originally the car couldn't see anything on the road except lines.
They fixed this and said it was a firmware issue. But now it seems laggy and makes decisions slowly. For example if I'm driving down the road it won't see people or cars unless I slow way down.
Tesla has been a pain to work with and I feel like they dont want to fix the problems.
What do I do? I spent 93000 on a Y performance and got it 3 weeks ago.
Do not press your key right up against the reader glass. You will leave scratches on the glass. Learned the hard way
“I have it set to 16% which may seem pretty high but find it kind of necessary in California.”🤣🤣🤣
In Ontario 20% is normal.
Very timely video. Took delivery last week but lots to take in so this was helpful!
There needs to be a two position memory for the passenger. Huge difference from my son to my wife in seat settings. Every other day I hear grumbling when the passenger seat needs to be readjusted all over again when alternating between 2 common passengers. Seems to be a simple thing to do. Happy wife,,, happy life 😊
Thanks I'm picking up mine on Saturday this was helpful. The only part I didn't understand is the amp setting when charging.
Very very helpful for a new Tesla owner!! Thank you!
Great job on this video.
I turned off ‘easy entry’ in my Model 3 because every time I had a backseat passenger, when I turned off the car off and opened the door the car would push the seat back and into their knees and feet if they didn’t get out before I did
Many thanks Ryan, you have saved me many tedious hours studying the owners manual.
Just the video I was thinking recently I’d like to search for. Then, what do you know, on a regular checkin to this channel, you’ve covered exactly what I wanted to find. Great!
Thanks Ryan, another great video. On the speed limit offset: a percentage is not "necessary." People will go around you, just stay in the slow lane. I like not having to think at all about radar and speed traps, not to mention the efficiency of driving at the speed limit rather than over.
Those are good points. Other side of the coin is that when you're following the flow of traffic it is nicer for everyone and causes less frustration for others when you are not consciously trying to make the smooth flow of traffic less smooth. Also even as simple as meter error might require you to adjust that so your actual real world speed matches the speedlimit instead of just your speedometer matching the speedlimit.
Here in Finland, I personally prefer driving with the flow of traffic instead of consciously trying to slow everyone down and cause a traffic jam that way.
9:37 it's a boot as well
Easy entry is an excellent option but unfortunately, a passenger behind the driver will find it to be a tight fit when the feature is active. I have that passenger wait until the driver’s seat moves to my saved position, before they get in. Same procedure on exiting. Get out before easy entry activates. But does everyone already know this? 😀
Another option for estimating range is to pull up the energy screen and look at the right side of the display. There you will find the number of estimated remaining miles (I believe) based on your current driving conditions. Don’t know how accurate it is since I have yet to do a trial run, but I have noticed it seldom agrees with the % charge/miles remaining readout. YMMV
Great vid, so much to take in, coming at you in a rapid fashion.
Great video! I will be watching this again when I take delivery of my MY.
This is very helpful, thanks. Getting my model 3 tomorrow, so excited!
Really helpful, Im ordering my LR Model Y hopefully next month and this is a great heads up pre car delivery. Thank you!
Why is Tidal a much better experience than Spotify in Tesla?
Thanks for them tips i will get my model 3 in feb 2023
I don't know how itnis in the US, but here it is recommended to locknthe car in your garage. There have been cases where cars were stolen out of garages and insurrance didn't pay because the car wasn't locked...
This was a very useful video. I have just one real complaint with the UI. We have roads where you are required to drive with your headlights on. One location is Hwy 152 between 101 and 5. Just as you get to the winding hilly section you have to turn on your lights for the Safety Corridor Turn On Lights. There is no way to quickly turn on your headlights while driving on a somewhat twisty road with a fair amount of traffic. I would really like a simply screen switch that will go from the existing setting, in my case from Auto, to On. Then when I hit the switch again it goes back to the original setting. Having to go into the Controls window and then again to go back to Auto is a real pain while you are driving.
Again this is a very good video.
Don’t your daytime running lights satisfy this requirement?
@@raleedy I don't know. I will look into it and find out.
This might be a good situation to use a voice command
@@jcgraphics3d i agree, if only there was a voice command to control the lights either on or off.
Regarding your ModelY accident damage,my wifes brand new was rearended a month ago. We have been told it will take 8 to 10 weeks to repair mostly because parts are majorly backordered. Not a good time to have an accident.
Are you able to keep your car in the time being or does it have to be in the shop?
@@CatnipCaptain The car is not driveable. We have a long term rental for now.
Wish they would put a secure manual access on the outside. My model Y has locked up (like completely bricked) on me twice and no one could access the car. After having it towed, Tesla had to break into the car and damaged the brightwork door trim doing so, which now has to be repaired.
Whew, that's a lot of information. Needless to say I'll be referencing this video a lot come January. That's when our MY LR DM is due.
Thanks Ryan
I'm a little overwhelmed by all the features.
Bob
I've heard this several times from Ryan to switch the tela to a % instead of miles, this idea seems crazy to me, i need to know how many miles (the unit of measure used for distance that can be traveled) are left before i am on "empty". The % only makes sense if you run to the grocery store and back home on your daily drive.....
Thanks for the congratulations!
Aloha from Hawaii🌺
Great valuable information Ryan. Now all I need is my Tesla‼
standard range model 3s come with LFP batteries and for that you don't need to limit the charging capacity. you can charge LFP batteries to 100%
His, still has the old battery type. But yeah you are right, newest 3 RWD (SR+/SR) that comes with LFP can be charged to 100% often. How can to notice it, his battery screen shows the "trip" bar. 3 with LFP won't have that.
Thanks, as usual Ryan! Jeez I’ve had my Y for almost 2 years and didn’t know about “auto tilt”! Most everything else I had figured out! Reset to “auto tilt” now!
Thank you too much for your time really. Appreciated and it was helpful.
Now we need to get Tesla to add a button in the trip screen to toggle on or off the trip card at the bottom of the driving visualization like it use to be.
Great video! My MXLR is due late July - late August and I can’t wait to start playing with the settings & customize my new Tesla 🥳
Great video m8. I just got mine, this helped quite a bit, cheers.
Great video for me as I am renting a model 3 on Turo for a trip in the UK early August - thank you very much
Instead of using cabin overheat protection, just turn on the climate control 10 minutes before leaving work. My interior temp reaches 156 deg at work (also in SoCal).
I've heard that the point of cabin overheat protection isn't for personal comfort, but to protect the electronics / battery from overheating.
Awesome video...A huge help. Thank you, Ryan.
Great video.
Nice FX3 ;)
Thanks Ryan for another great video
One problem with device priority is that if my wife walks up to the car before me it puts the driver settings to her. After jamming my knees a couple of time I removed her!! lol I am the primary driver anyways.
Get a taller wife
Good luck with that, I'll be at my destination long before you've set your profile
I need to be in my car for these tips... lol
Great tutorial. Just for my own peace of mind, I like to program Home and Work locations as nearby locations, rather than exact locations. What is the distance limit on location dependant options, like sentry record at home? I'm assuming if they are required to be exact locations that options like pin to drive and valet mode hide personal data and locations?
Good info - good to see it's a lot in common
Another fantastic video for reference
Great video Ryan!! I truly appreciate it and you!
Great thanks
Great video damn.
"If you just bought one, congratulations." Not sure how you know I just took delivery of my Model 3 two days ago, but thanks!
So if you and your wife are going on a road trip do you have to tell it who is driving each time?
Can you configure how sensitive the supercharger stops are ? I'd prefer to run car quite low before first stop for maximize charging speed
The car calculates the optimum route
Stopping mode or the generation effect. should be adjustable. therefore you may want to use the downhill to transfer power back to the battery without the car stalling on the downhill. thus utilize the roll force and gravity. in mountainous areas the downhill can actually be quite long
I wish the glovebox was in the short cut menu! If a burgler is allready in the car, they will easily get in the glovebox anyway! And I wish you could choose signature and rear lights on by default when starting driving. Some countries it is required by law, that all lights are on on a driving car!
My understanding is the voice command "Open glove box" is effectively the shortcut.
Thanks Man very helpful 😊
Is there a way to get backup camera displayed FULL SCREEN in my Model Y like in my Model S?
Really good video. Thank you.
For us without a tesla, what is Loot Box in your profile at 20:04 ?
@Ryan Shaw what if you have pandora or Sirius XM on your phone? Will those still play if you are using Bluetooth in theTesla?
Hello Ryan
99%. Of your videos I have watched and enjoyed
I watched one where you showed a charging splitter you said you used at your home. To charge and also run another 220 volt appliance
What is that unit and where can I buy it
Many thanks for such great advice and information.
I noticed that I can only order Model 3's in white or red and Model Y's only in black. What's going on? Why can't I order the other colors?
When delivered, is the battery pre-charged?
I’ve had my model Y for about 2 weeks now love the car but the seating profile bugs me, it tries to crush me every time I put the car in park ? I don’t get that at all ?
definitely add pin to drive
Ryan - love your videos.
Got a question: I am getting a fob to get into my work site easier (cells not allowed and I typically leave my wallet in the car too). Can I set auto-lock profiles for both the cell and the fob? Will auto-lock work if I have the fob, but phone is still in the car? Does the fob have a lock/unlock button on it? Thanks
Thank you for another great video. Did you already discuss the new enhanced auto pilot for the model s?
Did you know that you can add a 5th icon to your phone app? Used to be able to cram unlimited lol
You made a long list in the video description, but I can't find the camera arm holder on the roof on this long list.
Do you have a video of it how is mounted and what it is?
very informative!
That was great...thank you
I wish profiles were real profiles, where any setting is custom to each profile. Can't have separate radio channels per profile. GPS shows me where my wife drove. People call Tesla a software company but then some basic things they do and you makes you go do they really have sw engineers working on these? I really wish Apple make their rumored car.
cool tutorial, 100% works, +rep
