I woke up early like a child on Christmas day to try out FSD(supervised) I giggled with glee as it drove me to the store. Its very neat. But the price is way to much for my use. I love driving my Tesla, wont pay 200 a month to supervise it with anxiety to drive itself.
I got the same early Christmas present today! I'm too scared to try it on the open road..but maybe an empty parking lot. I'm not paying $200/month for this level of anxiety either 😂
Today my first day and time on FSD Beta! Amazing but not perfect! You must be ready, in 20km drive I had two interventions. Most of time drives very confidently (at times over confident). I am sorry they enabled now testing , should have waited another 2-4 versions. Nonetheless, I won’t pay $12k; $4k, yes
Got the update today, did summon, cool but not practical yet. Had it take me to planet fitness 6 blocks from the house. It slammed on breaks at yellow light and prompted me to leave a voice note for tesla on what happened.
Thanks, Ryan! I just took delivery of a new model 3 yesterday and my head is swimming with new information. Your video will help me make sense of it all, and I really appreciate it!
When I bought my Y last November, I had a 3 month trial of FSD. The only part of it I liked was the auto lane change. I missed it when the trial ended, now with the 1 month free FSD I have it again. I wish Tesla would sell it as a standalone software upgrade(without all the other stuff on the $6K upgrade). It’s great, but not $6K great!
Is there anyway to control the fan speed when you have defrost on? It seems at times it is on full blast and its not necessary. I want to turn the fan down but have the defrost on. thank you
I discovered that the Screen Clean mode can be turned off by enabling emergency lights. You don't need to hold the on-screen button for 4 seconds. But better don't use the emergency lights when confusing other drivers is possible
4:41 Turning down volume quickly. So there's no mute button?? 😮 Thanks for taking the time to make the helpful video. Update: There actually is a mute button, per the owner's manual. Press steering wheel left scroll button to mute/unmute.
I’ve tried FSD for 3 months and now again with the one month supervised. Super cool to try it but its biggest problem is slow reactions and slow Turns that other drivers are not going to be aware of and they have no patience for especially in a city with aggressive drivers already. Works really well on the freeways as there’s less turning, lights and such… but autopilot already did a good job on freeways. My favorite part really is the visualizations detail vs autopilot’s details.
As a new 2024 Tesla Y owner these tips were great Ryan. Ugh…so much to learn. 🤔 The radio was initially there when I picked up the car but now it’s gone. Any thoughts on what happened?
If you want the radio icon to stay on your screen as an fixed or 'always available' option, tap the three dots to the right of center at the bottom of your screen. From there, you can tap, hold and drag whatever icons you want to stay. There's only 5 spots available (it's kinda like the home screen on your cellphone) but you can make the radio one of the options that stays on screen. If you look to the right of the three dots, the icon shown there will be the most recent app you used that you haven't already set up as a fixed option (radio might have been there, but if you used another app after that, it would have replace the radio icon). I hope that helps and isn't too confusing.
Thank you, Ryan. I really enjoy your videos. I'm planning on buying my first Tesla later this year. Your videos seem to cover everything I need to know. Keep up the great work you are doing.
I would like to see some tips on collision avoidance. It seems like Tesla vision in my new 2024 MY is not as good as the ultrasonic system in my 2018 MY. Am I musing some settings?
Two questions. I couldn’t land that fifth icon no matter how hard I tried. You also mentioned you can use the Maps program of your choice, but I can’t figure out how to change the default Apple Maps program.
Thank you for the tips, got model Y 2024 today Friday, unfortunately whenI got home I noticed a dent in back just on the spoiler area, very disappointed 4 a brand new car!
Hey Ryan, quick question. I'm looking into leasing a model Y. On the Tesla website, I enter my zip code, filter by 25 miles and up pops a list of available cars. I change the zip code to another state, 1500 miles away, and I get the same exact list of available cars...what gives?
Great video Ryan and thanks for the tips. In a future video, could you spend more time on the voice commands? So many reviewers, You Tubers and mainstream media miss the power of this. The EV haters will make comments about having to learn on those commands, no buttons and so on. I believe there over 100 voice commands that work beautifully and with two hands the wheel less distracting and safer than searching and pushing buttons....
What an awesome video Ryan, please can we have more like this. Hopefully one day I will be able to try them out for myself. I am curious to know what happens when 2 people get in a Tesla with phone keys, it knows who will be driving?
First to open the door it will go to their profile. That means you can’t open the door for your spouse etc /ie date night as it often changes the profile to hers and then I have to change it back on screen to get my seat to go back/ settings when I get in the driver’s seat.
One thing I wish the cruise control had is a way to set a speed and then return to it. Seems like the only way to resume is to speed up to the speed you want and then re-engage. Where is the resume button or setting?
Do you find it useful to have 1/3 of the screen showing the traffic around you permanently? I currently have a car with an instrument cluster and a center screen with CarPlay. I’m pretty happy with the look and function of CarPlay. I’ve driven the Y a couple of times so, not a lot of experience, but didn’t instantly find it all that useful to have traffic shown around me. I know I can get a CarPlay adaptor for a Tesla, but it kind of bothers me that you can’t seem to customize the Tesla screen as much as you can other EV’s. You never know what’s going to bother you for a little while or always.
fully agree. seeing an animation of what's in front of me, visible with my own eyes, is a waste of space. The animations of what' behind might be useful, but I've only found them useful when entering or exiting parking spaces.
I have a question I don't have a Tesla yet but im looking to purchase one. I currently use XM radio in my car and in my wifes car. I would like to use it in the Tesla as well but I didn't see that as an option. Would you have to stream via Bluetooth or is there some other way to get it to work with Tesla interface?
Very nice video. I’ve learned a few tidbits myself. I don’t know if you ever made one but a video on buying a used Tesla and clearing previous profiles be useful. I had a heck of a time removing previous owner access on my model Y. Also before selling your car be good to have a video on how to reset it all for delivery to a new owner.
Why wouldn't they put the options that pop up when you hold down the left scroll wheel at the top of screen so you don't have to look so far down and off the road? Sometimes it's like Tesla isn't considering the context of driving in designing the interface, like the side mirror control.
A lot of us older guys just like to listen to FM and AM radio which for some reason no one on RUclips every does, especially since AM isn't even available on a Tesla as I understand it.
Question for anyone who might know as this is my first Tesla and still finding out stuff daily. When I get into the car after work and navigate home I noticed on top of screen is wavey / looks like a water illusion, this happens for several minutes then goes away. I thought this was because I was navigating to a supercharger but it happened today just navigating home. I also have cabin overheat protection on. Then I thought maybe the screen is to hot and that is causing the wavey watery looking mirage on top of screen?? Is this indeed because of heat and is this normal?? I also have a sun shade I use too. Thank you Aaron
It will nice if u show how to order model 3 with referral code. Currently I can only see model y, s n x. It’s worth mentioning referral’s don’t work for model 3.
Tesla doesn't recommend using a car wash that uses brushes or one that touches your car, but yes, you can go through an automatic car wash with a Tesla.
The car should be able to use interior camera to detect the presence of Dog or Baby and turn on the AC, and send notification. If the battery gets low then roll down the window if it isn't raining on a hot day.
I don't subscribe to any music apps and I have no intention to do so. Instead I have hundreds of MP3 folders with audio books. Currently these MP3 folders are copied to my phone and I listen to my current book from my phone, usually via Bluetooth into a car's audio system. What MP3 options will I have when I get a Tesla? Can I copy those files to a USB stick or SSD installed into the car? Can I continue to stream from my phone into the Tesla via Bluetooth (or even a USB cable)? Does Tesla have a native MP3 player that remembers current file location and stop point?
@@j.kevinmcnary9561 Thanks. In the meantime I've purchased a Model Y and have done just that. The process you describe does allow me to listen to my books without losing my place as I listen to those books in various locations including in my new model Y.
after owning an 2016 X and having a 2021 3 loaner, I can say the portrait layout of the screen is much better. Obviously not for netflix and games and all that, but there is so much more that is not available because of the forced layout. Favorites is always available on my X. I appreciate my 2016 so much more now after that loaner. Just a lot of little things that are less on the newer screens. Also, wow, one screen is annoying. Could I get used to it, sure, but why? These cars ain't cheap... give me more screens and all the stalks. Wipers are way better on the X to because I have a stalk with more control. Even the scroll/buttons is annoying. Just give me a freakn left and right button... The old X is just way better...
I agree. I guess it’s because I have owned Tesla’s since 2018 and all of this is “duh.” I do like to send friends and new users to these types of videos. I also like to show those asking me about Tesla because you get to see lots of the UI and I can make it obvious how smooth the screen is and how I have never had another car this smooth.
One thing to know is that if you need a new tire, if there's more than 2/32 of wear, then software demands you REPLACE ALL 4 TIRES! At 15000 miles, I was within the limit. I replaced one tore and the car wouldn't operate properly. Had to reboot twice and power off twice to re-engage all features. This is a terrible feature!
I disagree with "Tesla's UI is very good". Color usage is inconsistent, as is shading. Colors are unfriendly for people with atypical color vision. Some buttons ave verbiage, some don't. Some button disappear and reappear as you do things like opening the trunk. Too much spaced used for animation of the outside world, and maps--even when I'm driving on my familiar home turf.
Yeah, I don't understand why they hardly use any colors. It's mostly drab black and white and gray for some reason. Also, some text are much too small.
I don't suppose you can use any contacts you have to get Tesla to make some kind of comment about the Model 3 Highland software in the US? Pretty much everyone is on the delivery builds. No word on FSD or updates at all. Tesla will not respond.

Press the right scroll wheel on the steering wheel for a voice command and say "radio".
If you want the radio icon to stay on your screen as an fixed or 'always available' option, tap the three dots to the right of center at the bottom of your screen. From there, you can tap, hold and drag whatever icons you want to stay.
