True. These service issues with my Tesla caused my husband to cancel his order.
First, Georgia has 6 service centers, one in Savannah and 5 in Atlanta. C’mon! No one wants to face Atlanta traffic and spend all day (or two if you have to leave it) getting to and from a service center two hours from my house. Plenty of Teslas in Warner Robins.
Sexond we had a service appointment, but were sent home because they were too busy delivering new cars to honor the appointment, after we had already driven there. Extremely disappointing.

A trick to cancel the blinker - instead of pushing the stalk in the opposite direction of the blinker and possible making the other blinker turn on by accident - you just click again in the direction the blinker is already set. So making a left - you push down on the stalk. If the auto blinker doesnt shut off after the turn or you change your mind you push the stalk down again to cancel the blinker

(Long press the driver door "open" button as you get in) - much easier than getting out the phone, or waiting outside until driver gets all the way in and presses the unlock on the touch screen.

33:40 Tip for cold weather: When I start driving in cold (< freezing) temps where regen is largely diminished, I immediately put in a Supercharger destination that is 20+ miles away so that the car will precondition (i.e., heat up) the battery. That gets the regen braking back in about 10-15 minutes, considerably faster than left on its own.

Regarding battery and charging (min 35 of the video). If your mY have an “F” on the 7th digit of the VIN number, your mY is equipped with F = Lithium Iron Phosphate Battery (LFP). In that case the recommendation is to recharge (always) to 100%

Use V2G tech to transfer extra energy to the power grid, so you don't have any fires or explosions and other people can use the extra clean energy. Have a manual disconnect feature for the mechanical direct connect,in case the V2G tech isn't working for some reason.

Andy, run that tire pressure up unless you drive like grandma! You will get better grip up to around 46 psi! It looks like you are running 36 psi! Very low. Higher pressures also give better steering response, and your tires will wear evenly across the tread. I know many Americans like cushy, mushy steering and ride, and the sharp handling dynamics of a Tesla can hide the fact that you are making it mushy, but this car is capable of so much more!
For the best performance, keep those pressures up to at least the manufacturers recommended minimum (if not a couple of extra psi).

When you close the front trunk though, Tesla state that you're meant to push down on either side of the logo where the support struts are, not in the middle. It's aluminium, not steel, so pushing down on sheet aluminium with no underlying support causes it to bend, which you can see happening when you pressed the badge to close it.

One of the most useful additions in the latest SW update is the automatic turn signals. Enabling thus feature turns off the turn signal when you have completed the turn to a new lane or new road. So you can always use the full stalk selection and it will last only as long as needed. NOTE: This doesn't seem to work for multiple lane changes.

    • @RaRaRoo2
      @RaRaRoo2 Год назад +4

Seems to me that when crossing multiple lanes it has a time delay that detects you are still crossing the lane lines. I am very happy to have the feature. The one downside is when turning into a turn lane it shuts off then you have to put the turn signal on again for the turn.

I'd never use this here in Southern California. The most courtesy you get from people who are changing lanes is 1 flash. They often drift around in the lanes with no signal, so courtesy like that is unheard of. The half stalk selection for 3 flashes seems like overkill here so that's what I use.

@@sheronpulliam4371 ....Yes, I did charge the car up at the Superchargers. The way it works is you just plug in and charge, and the fees go to the Hertz account, and then get added on to your rental bill.... At least that's the way it's supposed to work. I have now rented Teslas at Hertz several times, and charged on the Supercharger. About half of the time, I didn't got charged by Hertz for the Supercharging fees. The other times I did. It's very seamless. Your credit card processing isn't completed until you return the vehicle (unless you pre-paid thru an app, like Priceline), so the fees for Supercharging are just added to the bill, and included in the rental charges, when it processes......

It’s always ridiculously bad and unsafe. You have to look at the screen to choose and touch the controls. So much easier and intuitive with a solid switch/ knob thing that you can twist or press without looking once your used to its positioning. I think as it is it’s less safe.

27:00 I find that following distance varies very little between 1-7. The safe driving rule of thumb is you should always be 2 seconds behind the car in front of you (I experienced this vividly in a weekend driving school). The 7 setting barely keeps this 2-second rule. I wish the setting would be incorporate a wider range of following distance - it is way too close in light traffic when there is no point in being close to anyone.

The door handles require the left hand to open the driver side doors and the right hand for the passenger side doors, so you have to plan ahead if you're holding packages and only have the incorrect hand handy.
It's awkward using the wrong hand, unless you can get adept using your pinky to push instead of the intended thumb.

I tested a Tesla 3 last weekend and was surprised they removed the stalks. The turn signals are on the steering wheel, which needs quite some time to adapt. It may be no issue in the USA, but in Europe where there are many roundabouts and you need to signal when leaving the roundabout this is quite impractical. It was the biggest deal breaker. Else an excellent car.

To pre condition the battery…push voice command button and say “Tesla super
      Charging stations” the screen will
Pop up with the list , select one by taping it….now it will navigate you to that location AND it will immediately start “ battery pre-conditioning” and it will say exactly that in the top left corner of the screen. IF you don’t see the list of supercharging stations after you give the voice command that is because you have a screen open on top like you stereo or A/c screen so swipe too down on your screen and it will move or close that too screen that is in the way. Then you can tap a location to start the pre-conditioning. If you are annoyed by the navigation voice just turn the volume off or turn your music on. They recommend that you try to do this every time you go to a supercharging station so it is in pre-condition mode to improve charging when you arrive.

forgot to add “windshield wiper heater” I needed this feature desperately last week but was not aware of this “new” feature. I did not use it since my frozen wiper problem so I cannot comment. since i became aware I did read the windshield has a spot where the wiper sits that heats up to 100º for a while. so it sounds like it is for cars parked outside and the wipers freeze to the windshield.
